Prod Hierarchy - how to

I am really confused on use of product hierarchy. I have various options and I want to understand the implications of these options. And get views of you experts on how to design; maybe one of you can point me in entirely new direction.
1) I can Split 18 characters of MARA-PRDHA in different levels of hierarchy and map these levels to custom infoObjects (ZLEVEL1 to n) while loading data in BW 0MATERIAL via 0MATERIAL_ATTR. These ZLevel infoObjects would be made navigational attributes of of 0MATERIAL. Meets all the technical requirements but users need real hierarchy presentation
2) Use 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER extractor with help of report RPHALPRH. This gives me perfect presentation hierarchy. But when I do this, I made to use 0Prodh1 to 0Prodh5 infoObjects to map the different levels of hierarchy. I cannot use the custom infoObjects Zleveln mentioned in option #1
3) Use of combination both?.. but still caanot map hierarchy levels to custom infoobejcts Zleveln.

1) Call up the InfoObject maintenance,select 0PROD_HIER, switch to the 'Hierarchies' tab and set the 'with hierarchies' flag.Then, save and activate the InfoObject.
2) If the Extractor and the DataSource 0PROD_HIER_LPRH_HIER (active) exist in the source system, replicate the DataSources in the BW.
3) Right-click and assign the new hierarchy DataSource from the source system.
4) Fields 0PRODH1, and so on should be assigned to the InfoObjects with the same name.After that, you will be able to load the hierarchy into the BW system.
5) In order to be able to use this hierarchy in the evaluations, the 0PROD_HIER attribute of 0-MATERIAL must be active as a navigation attribute in the cube.When you expand the hierarchies by product hierarchy in the query, you can display this hierarchy.
AND ALSO IT SAYS THAT DONOT TAKE THE HIERRARCHY IN 0MATERIAL INSELF.
the described errors by multiplying out the material records for all sales areas.In the worst case scenario, the hierarchy to be transferred may become too large in the process.To avoid this, you can use the enhancement instead which only transfers the product hierarchy without the material numbers as leaves.As a result, this hierarchy belongs to InfoObject 0PROD_HIER which is both the attribute for 0MATERIAL and 0MAT_SALES.This solution generates the thinnest possible hierarchy, but leads to some restrictions in the navigation options in the BW queries because you can no longer expand the hierarchy to the material numbers.

Drilling via Hierarchy - how to display upper levels of the hierarchy??

Hi all.
I'm using Discoverer 10.1.2
I have a worksheet which contains only one Pie graph.
Users can drill down and up by clicking on the slices of the graph, because I definied Hierarchy in the Administrator.
Everything's fine, but when drilling down you can't see through which values of upper levels of the hierarchy you go..
For example assume the pie graph displaying three slices for warehouses 1,2 and 3.
User clicks on slice 2. Discovere re-run query with new condition warehouse=2 and displays new pie graph which shows four slices for Items a,b,c and d.
That's fine user can see there are four items on the selected warehouse and there is some amount of each of these items.
But he can't see which warehouse was selected!!!
Discoverer only adds new condition to the source sql query but I have no chance to display these conditions on worksheet.
Discoverer Plus enables to add "Axis Items", "Data points",etc in the graph title.
In the Legend of the Graph there is a Column name of the upper level of the hierarchy but not its value (in my example there would be Legend displaying slice colors for items a,b,c,d and link to "warehouse") I would Like to see current warehouse number (e.g. 2 in above example) too!!
Any workaround???

In releases prior to 10.1.2 users really had no choice but to drill to detail. However, with the release of hyper drills in 10.1.2 the situation has changed. Most of my customers now use hyper drills and wondered how they ever got by without them. Using hyper linked workbooks allows you to create a library of workbooks that all interlink to each other, up and down the chain.
Thus a user can jump into the chain anywhere they like and the system should let them link up or link down. When done properly you end up with a library. Now take this one step further and make the library owner a generic user called something like ACCOUNTS PAYABLE. You can now have a library of accounts payable workbooks, workbooks that have been shared with either the ACCOUNTS_PAYABLE role or responsibility.
Does this help see the direction I take?

Website page hierarchy: how to?

I try to use a breadcrumb navigational script, such as http://www.webmonkey.com/tutorial/Build_Dynamic_Breadcrumbs_With_JavaScript_ .
The script works, but wherever I go in my site http://mysafety.be, only the homepage shows up. It looks as if all my pages are simply attached to my homepage. But I have a dropdown menu that does show the structure of my site... only, my pages do not seem to be seen by the script as such.
Question: how do I get my webpages structured in a tree structure with proper page hierarchy?

Well, I did the renaming within Dreamweaver and the files and template page were automatically updated.
But then I moved all the files outside of dreamweaver, in windows explorer instead of within dreamweaver... never again!! I had about 6000 broken links, and spent the best of 4 hours to rectify them. I did not know I had to move within Dreamweaver, now I do.
I do have backups of my site; but luckily I did not need it, after uploading my 5 hours worth of relinking, it almost all worked; spent another hour fixing the rest and now it is ok.

Updating Prod Hierarchy field for all 2 & 3 level WBS Elements

Dear All,
My requirment is to update Prod. Hierarchy field for WBS element. Here in input i give 2 level WBS Element with respective Prod. Hierarchy then my program should update the Prod. Hierarchy for 2 level and 3 level WBS element under it automatically.
I hope we need to use bapi BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN.
If any one had a sample code please reply with the attachment.

Hierarchy - How to use more than one characteristic

Hi People..Sorry for other question. I am new in BW.
I need my hierarchy by 0VAL_CLASS and below that I need to restrict by 0MATERIAL.
The hierarchy by 0VAL_CLASS is already done, but I don´t know what is the best way to add the other characteristic 0MATERIAL.
If it is by coumpound and what is the impact .. or if it is by External chars inside of the 0VAL_CLASS in the hirararchy.
Example:
--> Fineshed Material
0val_class: A
Material 1 (selected especific one)
Material 2 (selected especific one)
0val_class: B
Material 3
--> Semi-fineshed Material
0val_class: A (repeated)
Material 4 (selected especific one)
Independent on the way, could you tell me too how to do that.

Hi people, thanks very much for your return,
I have tried to use external chars. The problem in that example below was that when I execute the query, the report is showing me the "materials 1, 2 and 4" on the lines 0val_class to the "fineshed material and semi-fineshed material" too.
It means the system didn´t restrict the materials 1 and 2 only to the Fineshed Material. And Material 4 only to semi-fineshed material.
Could you tell me what is the reason? I don´t know if I forgot some step. The only thing I did was to put "0material" as "external chars" inside of the infoobjeto "0val_class".

Variable type Hierarchy, how to get the value from another similar variable

Hi.
We have created a variable, type hierarchy (using ORGEH hierarchy in HR based on 0ORGUNIT). Let's call this VAR1. We want to fill this with an User Exit, beacuse we want VAR1 to have the value from another variable, VAR2, which is also type hierarchy (and based on the same characteristic).
However, when we program this user exit and use the VAR1 afterwards, it just behaves as if we have a single characteristic value and not a node value. As a result, we just get posts which do have the 'parent itself' as characteristic value, and none of the subnodes... Any hints as to what we can do in our User exit to get the value passed over from VAR2 to VAR1 as a node value? Is there any spesific syntax to be used here that we are missing? ( The VAR1 and VAR2 are both defined as hierarchy variables, we have double checked...).

are you on BI7.0? There you can create variables type replacement path and get the value out from a different variable without any coding.

Hierarchy: How to suppress duplicated/repeated rows in a BEx query

Hi Gurus.
I have a BEx query which displays data based on a Cost Element hierarchy. When the hierarchy is expanded to leaf level (or any level), all key figures and characteristics are displayed for the leaf level but are also repeated throughout all the levels above.
Is it possible to suppress the repeated rows in higher levels of the hierarchy and display a summary result only?
The issue we have is that if the user wishes to export or save a workbook, they will have to filter and manipulate the report a great deal which is impractical.
I'm hoping it's a simple setting that I've missed. I look forward to receiving the magic answer!! :o)

I've been playing around a bit more and found a setting which I hope my users will find acceptable:
From the query - Query properties -> Data Formatting tab - Multidimensional View -> select Display Rows hierarchically and expand to (chosen characteristic)
Can anyone tell me if I can set this as a default setting in the query designer, or will I need to create a view to save the setting?

what are the different product hierarchy wise reports available in standard sap

Product hierarchy is for only reporting. in standrad system u can have 3 levels in product hierarchy .if u implement product hierarchy u can have reports like below.
reports that can give u the three (or modified ) levels. for ex; material group, material pricing group, additional material group. agriculture products,electricals and pumps respectively. u can have the reprots each level.
like this if u modify the system for more levels then standard 3 u can have more flexibility in reporting

Lowest Level in Prod Hierarchy

I have a situation wherein i have to get to the lowest level match of the product hirearchy for the best fit.
I have a custom table which maintains Prod. Hier as part of the Key. I need to get down to the best fit of that to the lowest level possible.
Any sample code appreciated..!

More Clarification on the situation:Ineed to get to the lowest level match of the product hirearchy for the best fit. I have a table which has Prod. Hier, Matnr, and Platform.
I have to check if a particular material Number exists in this Table, If yes then take that corresponding platform. If material doesn't exist then i have to check for the Best possible fit to the lowest level on the Prod. hier and take that corresponding platform.
let's say the table is something like this.
Prod. Hier               Matnr                  Platform
5012EF                  010001                 ABC
5012                                           BCD
50                                             DEF
Now, if i have a material 010001 with Prod. Hier 5012EF: Then i should collect platform ABC.
If i have a material 012120 with Prod. Hier 5012DE : then i should collect platform BCD, as it is the best possible lowest level fit.

REM Prod Version: How to hide/disable Storage Location fields

We are using REM.
For Issue storage locations, we are maitaining str location in BOM/MRP2 View.
For Receving Str locatiom, we are maitaining str location in MRP2 View.
Similarly, for REM assemblies, system provides str locations fields in Production Version.
Requst to guide on following points:
1. What is the application and priority of Strorage locations in Prod Version (PV)?
2. Can the Str locations in PV be hidden/disabled?

For receiving storage location of finished goods in REM system gives priority for selecting stor loc as below.
Production version (Rec.stor.loc) -> MRP view (prod stoarge loc)
For issue storage location of components in REM system gives priority for selecting stor loc as below.
BOM (issue storage loc) --> MRP view (prod stoarge loc) -->Production version (Rec.stor.loc)
why do u want disable the storage loc at production version.

New cost element hierarchy - how to extract

Hello,
User created new cost element hierarchy/cost element groups (KAH3).
I dont see this hierarchy in the list of available hiararchies of data source 0COSTELMNT_0102_HIER.
Shall it appear in the list automatically or I need to do custom extraction?

Hello,
The problem is probably caused by the fact that only the highest node of the hierarchy is displayed as available for the
0COSTELMNT_0102_HIER datasource. This means that the cost element group which is displayed is not used in any other group. That is probably the reason why some of your groups are displayed as available and some of them not. You can check it in the transaction KAH3 in your OLTP system.
Select your cost element group and press the Where used button. On the next dialog box select just 'Groups' and choose ENTER. Then the groups are displayed that contain the respective group. The highest level group should be available also in BW system.
When you extract this group then you will see your group as a subnote. Please see the information SAP note 316976 on available hierarchies for CO InfoObjects incomplete.

Merchandise Category hierarchy - how do you connect them?

Hello all:
I am creating an assignment to do with my MBAs this Saturday and I have hit a stumbling block.
I am not sure it is my understanding on the SAP concepts or my not clicking the right thing!!!
So here is my scenario. :
MC level nonfood
                MC level Drugstore
                                MC level Beauty
                                                Mcategory Soap
So I have each of these created and I can assign the merchandise category Soap to the MC level Beauty. I cannot assign any additional levels to Soap. I can see additional lines, but they are grayed out and I can not click on them or add any additional levels to the category
Then I tried to link Beauty to Drugstore and then Drugstore to Nonfood u2013 this did not work either u2013 or I can't find the right place to link them.

Before UAC went live we debated about where various discussions should be initiated ... and the sense we got from faculty was that more theoretical / general discussions should go in the public area (i.e. here), but faculty preferred to hold specific product / curriculum focused discussions in the members-only area that only faculty had access to (so students aren't using the posts as a way for them to take the quick route through exercises).

Product Hierarchy from R/3 to BW

I have a problem with product hierarchy in BW. First, i extract master data for material (0Material, infoobject), but attribute 0PROD_HIER was not update, all records has this value in blank. After that, i extracted hierarchy from R/3, with datasource 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER, and hierarchy was activated in BW without problems. Now my problem is how to insert the material en hiearchy, as i have it in R/3, i think that it should be when i extract the hierarchy, but it not happened. So how can i insert the whole material in their node as they are in R/3??

         You need to follow the below steps
For hierarchy
1)     To create a hierarchy variable, you need to select the characteristic with the hierarchy. Go to the hierarchy tab in the object properties. Select hierarchy -> Hierarchy variable.
2)     Go to select hierarchy variable and new variable.
3)     Give technical name and description, and other details as per requirement.
4)     Save the variable and select the variable.
For Hierarchy node variable
1)     To create a hierarchy node variable, Select a characteristic which has a hierarchy. Select Restrict from the context menu. Select Variable in the Select value list box. Select create new variable.
2)     Give technical name and description and other details as per requirement. Select type of variable as HIERARCHY NODE
3)     Save and select the variable.
