Prod. Hierarchy

Product hierarchy can be generally structured as shown below:
1 00001 Electrical appliances
2 00002 Household appliances
3 00000003 Wet appliances
In this example, a dishwasher belongs to product hierarchy 000010000200000003
Even though i have my prod structure levels set up as 5/5/8 , system is allowing the below combination?Did i miss to configure something?
1      00001 Electrical appliances
2      0000100002 Household appliances
3      000010000200000003 Wet appliances
In this example, a dishwasher belongs to product hierarchy 000010000200000003
Also, Can one article belong to more then one "lowest level" of the hierarcy?

Hi in IS retail this terminalgy called as "Article Hierarchy"
Menu path and Tocde - SAP Easy Access screen, choose Logistics ® Retailing ® Master Data ® Article Hierarchy Data ® WMATGRP01(Create)
WMATGRP05 u2013 Activate    - When you create an article hierarchy the status is always u2018plannedu2019. Once you have finished planning the hierarchy, you can activate it. After the relevant checks, the status of the article hierarchy is set to active.

  • Prod Hierarchy - how to

I am really confused on use of product hierarchy. I have various options and I want to understand the implications of these options. And get views of you experts on how to design; maybe one of you can point me in entirely new direction.
    1) I can Split 18 characters of MARA-PRDHA in different levels of hierarchy and map these levels to custom infoObjects (ZLEVEL1 to n) while loading data in BW 0MATERIAL via 0MATERIAL_ATTR. These ZLevel infoObjects would be made navigational attributes of of 0MATERIAL.  Meets all the technical requirements but users need real hierarchy presentation
    2) Use 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER extractor with help of report RPHALPRH. This gives me perfect presentation hierarchy. But when I do this, I made to use 0Prodh1 to 0Prodh5 infoObjects to map the different levels of hierarchy. I cannot use the custom infoObjects Zleveln mentioned in option #1
    3) Use of combination both?.. but still caanot map hierarchy levels to custom infoobejcts Zleveln.
    Please advise... Thanks

    Hi,
As You said , the second method is best one .There is no need of using z Characterstics. Take a llok on these notes.
    407033
One of the notes says ,
    1) Call up the InfoObject maintenance, select 0PROD_HIER, switch to the 'Hierarchies' tab and set the 'with hierarchies' flag. Then, save and activate the InfoObject.
    2) If the Extractor and the DataSource 0PROD_HIER_LPRH_HIER (active) exist in the source system, replicate the DataSources in the BW.
    3) Right-click and assign the new hierarchy DataSource from the source system.
    4) Fields 0PRODH1, and so on should be assigned to the InfoObjects with the same name. After that, you will be able to load the hierarchy into the BW system.
    5) In order to be able to use this hierarchy in the evaluations, the 0PROD_HIER attribute of 0-MATERIAL must be active as a navigation attribute in the cube. When you expand the hierarchies by product hierarchy in the query, you can display this hierarchy.
AND ALSO IT SAYS THAT DONOT TAKE THE HIERRARCHY IN 0MATERIAL INSELF.
<i>the described errors by multiplying out the material records for all sales areas. In the worst case scenario, the hierarchy to be transferred may become too large in the process. To avoid this, you can use the enhancement instead which only transfers the product hierarchy without the material numbers as leaves. As a result, this hierarchy belongs to InfoObject 0PROD_HIER which is both the attribute for 0MATERIAL and 0MAT_SALES.This solution generates the thinnest possible hierarchy, but leads to some restrictions in the navigation options in the BW queries because you can no longer expand the hierarchy to the material numbers.</i>

  • PROD HIERARCHY WISE REPORT

what are the different product hierarchy wise reports available in standard sap

    Hi,
Product hierarchy is for only reporting. in standrad system u can have 3 levels in product hierarchy .if u implement product hierarchy u can have reports like below.
reports that can give u the three (or modified ) levels. for ex; material group, material pricing group, additional material group. agriculture products, electricals and  pumps respectively. u can have the reprots each level.
like this if u modify the system for more levels then standard 3 u can have more flexibility in reporting

  • Lowest Level in Prod Hierarchy

    Hi All,
I have a situation wherein i have to get to the lowest level match of the product hirearchy for the best fit.
I have a custom table which maintains Prod. Hier as part of the Key. I need to get down to the best fit of that to the lowest level possible.
    Any sample code appreciated..!
    Thanks in advance..!

More Clarification on the situation:Ineed to get to the lowest level match of the product hirearchy for the best fit. I have a table which has Prod. Hier, Matnr, and Platform.
I have to check if a particular material Number exists in this Table, If yes then take that corresponding platform. If material doesn't exist then i have to check for the Best possible fit to the lowest level on the Prod. hier and take that corresponding platform.
let's say the table is something like this.
    Prod. Hier               Matnr                  Platform
    5012EF                  010001                 ABC
    5012                                           BCD
    50                                             DEF
Now, if i have a material 010001 with Prod. Hier 5012EF: Then i should collect platform ABC.
If i have a material 012120 with Prod. Hier 5012DE : then i should collect platform BCD, as it is the best possible lowest level fit.
    Hope i made this clear..!
    Thanks in advance.

  • CO-PA: product hierarchy predefined from best practice

    Hi guys,
unfortunately I have as basis a best practice system, where product hierarchy with 3 levels is already defined in CO-PA:
    PAPH1     ProdHier01-1     ProdH01-1     CHAR     5     MVKE     PAPH1
    PAPH2     ProdHier01-2     ProdH01-2     CHAR     10     MVKE     PAPH2
    PAPH3     ProdHier01-3     ProdH01-3     CHAR     18     MVKE     PAPH3
    PRODH     Prod.hierarchy     Prod.hier.     CHAR     18     MVKE     PRODH
Those ones are already assigned to a best practice operating concern:
    10UK     Best Practices
    1. we have 7 levels in our product hierarchy
    2. I need to read it from mara and not mvke
When trying to ad product hierarchy as characteristic in KEA5 in our new operating concern, I gut the message below.
This data element is used in tons of tables and the whole precdure looks risky + after transport I might have issues again?
Creating ww* characteristics for product hierarchy is not an option, since then I would need to maintain the whole product hiearchy as characteristc values again (like before release 4.5) and this is far more than 1000 entries and is double maintenance after go live.
Deleting the best practice operating concern is also difficult, since there are several clients where customizing still sits for 10UK.
Anybody experience? What did you do?
    regards
    Bjoern
Here is the text from KEA5 when trying to ad mara fields (since date elment lenghts is different due to more levels):
Product hierarchy field PAPH1 cannot be adapted to the new structure
    Message no. KE691
    Diagnosis
The definition of the product hierarchy has changed (structure PRODHS). The hierarchy field generated in CO-PA, PAPH1 cannot be adapted to the new definition, because it is already being used in structures or tables.
    System Response
The field PAPH1 does not appear in the list of fields that can be selected.
It can no longer be used as a characteristic.
    Procedure
If you still want to define hierarchy field PAPH1 as a characteristic, proceed as follows:
    1. Display the where-used list for data element RKEG_PAPH1 in database fields using transaction SE12. For hierarchy field PAPH1 to be adapted, a data conversion must be carried out for all the tables listed!
    2. First change the number of characters in the domain RKEG_PAPH1 to match the new definition of the product hierarchy, following the example below. You can do this using transaction SE11.
    Structure PRODHS     Domain
Field    Length      name       Number of characters
    PRODH1     3         RKEG_PAPH1      3
    PRODH2     2         RKEG_PAPH2      5
    PRODH3     5         RKEG_PAPH3     10
    PRODH4     8         RKEG_PAPH4     18

    Just as Info,
I needed to go for deletion of those characteristics - quite some work, like:
    1. delete all where-used entries for the characteristics in ALL CLIENTS of this system (important: e.g. planning layout - recommended to change and not simply delete, because the change can be transported)
    2. when then trying to delete characteristics (with "unlock" in KEA0 > value fields) - tons of tables and strucutres popped up, where this data element is still needed - follow note 353257
    3. generate best practice operating concern new (10UK in our case)
    4. create PAPH1 etc. new from table MARA (not mvke in our case - depends)
all good - hopefully no issues after transport - we will see.

  • CO-PA Realignment: Changes in Product Hierarchy

    Hello all,
We have changed the product hierarchy on some of our materials and we want to realign the PA data to reflect the same.
Our product hierarchy which we have three levels is maintained in KES1. There are no derivation rules. KES1 is updated manually everytime any changes occur.
    For example:
    OLD
    Product: 1-189-01
    Hierarchy 1: 100
    Hierarchy 2:A7300
    Hierarchy3: B56220
So on the material master the prod hierarchy is 100A7300B56220
    NEW
    Product: 1-189-01
    Hierarchy 1: 125
    Hierarchy 2:A7500
    Hierarchy3: B56120
I tried using KEND for realignment and this does not change anything. Any help, how to proceed with the realignment is appreciated.

    Hi Anusha,
Did u also update PH level in KES3 - in specific hierarchy variant ? Also would like to know how did u reset the operating concern
    Thanks,
    Samik (SAP MM)

  • Product hierarchy in COPA

    Hi all,
I am new to COPA. What I need to do is creating a report that is using a product hierarchy that we can define.
So I started and created a hierarchy in V/76 like we need it. Those values can now be entered into the "Prod. hierarchy" field for each material in material master - basic data 1.
Then I have created a characteristic for the field MARA-PRDHA (Product Hierarchy) in COPA and assigned it to our operating concern in COPA. Now I created a form (KE34), double clicked on a column to add a characteristic and selected my PROD HIERARCHY characteristic. Now in the window for "selected characteristics" there is a checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" so I checked that, but it says "No hierarchies exist for this characteristic".
So is this the right way to do it? How can I add product hierarchies to my COPA report, we would like to be able to "click" through the hierarchy, like starting on the highest level and clicking down.
    Thanks
    Anne

    Anne,
Do not a check on checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" . Select value( Hierarchies from Definition drop down window) .
    Thanks,
    Mahesh

  • Product :  Errors in attribute hierarchy structure SAP BCA   000164

    Hi All ,
When ever i create /Display /Change Product in
Financial Supply Chain Management --> In House Cash > Master Data>Product Definition--> Product --> Create /Change/Display
system through below mentioned error .
I tryed to resolve problem as per below mentioned program through se38 , but still getting same error
Errors in attribute hierarchy structure SAP BCA   000164
    Message no. FIPR217
    System Response
An error was found in the attribute hierarchy.
In some cases, it is not possible to display the attribute hierarchy without having to correct the errors first.
    Procedure
It is recommended that you run the FIPR_CLEAN_ATTRIBUTES (by using transaction SE38).  This report can recognize errors, and it attempts to correct them automatically.
Caution: This report can change your table entries permanently.
Once this report has run, you need to check the hierarchy structure, and make any necessary changes.
    Regards
    Prakash Sharma

    Hi,
the realignment (KEND) does not change the line item tables (CE1***, CE2***), thats why they remain unchanged.
The line items in CE1**** can not be changed. If you really want to have new line items (with the new prod. hierarchy) try in test-client if the use of report RKECADL1 and the new transfer to CO-PA for the deleted line items (KE4S, KE4SFI,...) can help you (SAPNET-note 69370 for details).
CE2**** + SQL-error: As per now, I don't have an idea how to deal with that cases.
    best regards, Christian

  • Data Modelng with hierarchy??

    Hi Gurus,
I am working with Infosets and many of these infosets have the following joins below. EngMDlNbr to Product Code to Summary product Code and Product main group
All these Master Data are loaded from flat files.
    Product Hierarchy:
    Char 1: EngMdlNbr:
           1. EngMdlNbr
              2. Product Code
           3. Many othe characteristics
    Char 2: Product Code
           1. Key-Product Code
              2. Summary product Code
    Char 3: Summary Prod Code
           1. Key-Summary product Code
              2. Prod Hierarchy level
           3. Product Main Group
    Char 4: Product main Group
           1. Key-Product Main Group
              2. Prod Hierarchy level
Please clarify whether the performance of the queries will improve if I reduce these Joins by building
    1) Hierarchy at Product Code and include (Summary Prod Code and prod main grp) or
    2) By including Summary Prod Code and prod main grp as Attributes in Product Code Characteristics.
If I use Hierarchy, how will I load the data with hierarchy information.
    Please advice.
    Thanks and Regards
    Andy

    Hi
Just check how the component hierarchy is maintained because if hierarchy maintained properly then your report will come out properly.
When transaction data coming from ECC hierarchy key filed contains your parent and child relationships.

  • COPA - Product Hierarchy

    Dear all experts,
My client has split the product hierarchy in COPA into 3 levels.
    For example, ProdHier01-1, ProdHier01-2 & ProdHier01-3.
Then they use these values in COPA to further derive the detailed product characteristics.
By looking at the questions posted in SCN, I realized that the naming convention (ProdHier01-1, etc) and setting (create characteristic with reference to MARA-PAPH1/2/3) are the same.
So I assume this is the standard SAP way to create the prod. hierarchy in COPA.
    Now my question is,
    1) Is it necessary (or standard way) to create 3 COPA characteristics to derive each level from PAPH1/2/3?
    2) What is the purpose to create no. of COPA characteristics according to no. of product hierarchy level?
    3) Can I just create 1 COPA characteristic and map it to the full length of product hierarchy value?
I can still derive the detailed product characteristics from this 1 COPA characteristic.
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Sebastian

    Hello Madhu,
    Thanks for your reply.
That is my main question, why do we need to update Prod.Hier1/2/3 in COPA?
Is it the standard SAP way that's why my client just follows?
When I check in the derivation rule, this Prod.Hier1/2/3 is later being used to derive detailed product characteristics where I am able to get it if i map 1 COPA characteristic to full length product hierarchy value.
What is the purpose of splitting them into 3 levels if there is no other functionality of this piece of info in COPA?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

  • How to create Hierarchy Variable

    Hi,
Can any one please tell me (step by step) how to craete Hierarchy Variable for Prod Hierarchy?
Please do not give help.sap.com link..its very confusing and did not help me at all.
    Thanks

    Hello Shalini,
You need to follow the below steps
    For hierarchy
    1)     To create a hierarchy variable, you need to select the characteristic with the hierarchy. Go to the hierarchy tab in the object properties. Select hierarchy -> Hierarchy variable.
    2)     Go to select hierarchy variable and new variable.
    3)     Give technical name and description, and other details as per requirement.
    4)     Save the variable and select the variable.
    For Hierarchy node variable
    1)     To create a hierarchy node variable, Select a characteristic which has a hierarchy. Select Restrict from the context menu. Select Variable in the Select value list box. Select create new variable.
    2)     Give technical name and description and other details as per requirement. Select type of variable as HIERARCHY NODE
    3)     Save and select the variable.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards.

  • Product Hierarchy from R/3 to BW

    Hi
I have a problem with product hierarchy in BW. First, i extract master data for material (0Material, infoobject), but attribute 0PROD_HIER was not update, all records has this value in blank. After that, i extracted hierarchy from R/3, with datasource 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER, and hierarchy was activated in BW without problems. Now my problem is how to insert the material en hiearchy, as i have it in R/3, i think that it should be when i extract the hierarchy, but it not happened. So how can i insert the whole material in their node as they are in R/3??

  • Hierarchy Navigation Help!!!

    Hi SDN,
I got a requirement today which is kind of tricky for me, plz shw me sme light if u have any idea on this,
1>> Download the csv-file 0COMP_HIER.csv from system Prod server. The data in this file is irrelevant, it's the structure that's important.
2>> With the structure in mind, navigate to the info object 0COMPANY and edit the hierarchy. The data you'll see there has to be transformed into an excel-file of the structure from point 1.
3>> Use the created excel/csv-file to update the hierarchy-data in systems Dev Server and Test server.
Any Help will be appreciated & Points Guaranteed.

from the thread, I understand that u are trying to mimic the prod hierarchy in both dev and test environment. if its true,
download the hierarchy (pls follow the zprogram in the doc below.) from the prod system. And upload the same file in dev and test.

    hi,
in std sap u can have only three levels, but u can go upto 6 levels.
    follow this steps
1.append the std prod hierarchy structure with adition of zzprod4 and zzprod5
2.new data element can be created 0r use prodh field data element and attach it to new fields as per above.
    3.in customiising v/76 y should reorganise 18 chars amongst 5 levels.
by doing this in material master u can see in drop down list with 5 levels.
    hope it helps.
