The Prod. sloc maintained in mtl master serves dual purpose, first when a production order is created for that material, it acts as the receiving location i.e. when you post a GR for the prodn order via MB31 the stock gets posted into this sloc. The other purpose is when this material is a component in a production order, then stock gets issued from this sloc.
This field can be maintained at material master level or at BOM level. The one maintained at BOM level has a higher precedence over the one in material master. If you might ask why 2 places to maintain the same data, there might be instances where the component is stored at different slocs depending on the BOM, then it makes sense to maintain at BOM level, but if the component is always maintained at a single sloc, then maintain in mtl master level.

Storeage location from material master in PO

I have maintained a store location of each material in Material master in view of "General Plant Data / Storage 1". Now my requirement is that whenever I create a PR or PO without PR with material, system will not take by default my store location since I have already maintained in the material master. Even the requirement is same while creating a reservation.. Can any one ans to this please.. Since it is general issue.. It should come from material master as this SAP is such good ERP package why it is not coming by default. It is a really challenging question?

SAP designed its programs the way it is, they have a field storage location EP to default a storage location to a PO. it just does not make sense for SAP (for perfromance reasons in big companies) to check first if there is only a single storage location maintained together with the auto storage location disabled.
storage location EP field is just located in MRP views.
But with customizing you can move this field to any other view, e.g. purchasing view.
It is probably in the MRP views, as you usually have MRP views only for materials that are stock managed, and only for quantity managed materials you need a storage location, while purchasisg view need to be there even for materials that are not stock managed. So a proposal for storage location EP makes more sense in the MRP views, especailly while the planner defines where the materials are needed, rather the the buyer. And with distributed material master maintenance it makes then again more sense to have it in MRP views.
But if you company does it different, then customize your material master views to your need.

Storeage Location for Material Master

Is there anyway to change or extend SLOC for materials already created, by using MMSC i can do one by one, but there is some 2000 materails need to be extended, because while uploading material master the sloc was entered wrong.

I was thinking of suggesting the same. But, I have one doubt, in MM17 I think you can replace a value but not extend a value. Meaning, if your storage location is already extended to say two different storage locations and now you need to replace one with another MM17 can be used.
However, it is only my doubt and just trying to get it clarified. I think it is better to use it and then come to a conclusion.

Can we default the storage location from the material master into the reservation line item in trasaction MB21?

Hi Sunitha,
This prevents customers from buying products that they are not allowed or do not want.
For Example,
Say Product Attribute 1 = FAT content above 30%.
And Material 100001 has Fat content above 30%... So you mark Prod Attribute 1 in material master.
Now you need to mark "Prod Attribute 1" in the customer master (Ship to Party) who does not want to buy materials which has Fat content above 30%.....
Say you marked Prod Attribute 1 for Customer XXXXX.... and trying to create Sales order for this customer with material 100001... You will get the message as per Sales Doc Type settings.
So now the system will give you an Error/ Warning/No message as per setting done in Sales Doc Type - Product Attribute message filed in VOV8.

Adding a subscreen in Plant data/stor. 1u0094 tab in Material master

I need to add a subscreen in material master Plant data/stor. 1 tab. Please let me know if its posible.
Warehouse management requires a primary bin and 4 alternative bin locations to be added to the material master. Four custom fields will be added in addition to the standard primary storage bin location field. These fields will be held at the branch/storage location level.
For this I enhanced MARD table with a structure contains 4 fields.
A sub-screen should be added to the Plant data/stor. 1 tab. Alternative Bin Information section should hold the additional four fields.
I want to add a sun screen under General data. This sub screen contains 4 fields for alternative storage bins.

u'll have to do the following:
1. copy the std func group MGD1 to ZMGD1....include all ur custom screen and make sure u hav written the PBO and PAI .
Best way would be copy any standard screen and then making any change there like modifying the label.
2. next step is copying the screen sequence ( logistics-material master-configuring the material master)....01 to z1 and then assigninng all ur new program and screen name in this custom screen seq ...
and u can assign this custom screen seq to diff material type....
there is a bit of SPRO involved in this...
and check the BADI BADI_MATERIAL_REF.

For case A, create insp plan with usage "1- production" If you have one IP with this usage for given material then system will assign Plan to lot automatically. In your case for second plan update usage as 1.
For case B, system should assign 1st plan make sure for both plan udage is correct. for 1st plan usage should be 5 while 2nd plan usage should be 1. Now if your 1st have status 4 and key date before lot date then system will assign plan auto.

Storage Location required entry in Material Master

My client requirement is, at the time of creation of Material Master, System will ask for Storage Location.Without Storage Location, Icann't create Material Master.
Even if I'll select Plant and Storage LOcation View & Warehouse View, System is not asking the storage Location.
Can anybody suggest me where I'll set the setting so that system will ask for Storage Location mandatory in Material Master.

You can check in your system.
System only asking for plant not storage location.Even if we select warehouse view, system is not asking for Storage Location view.

Usage of 'Average Inspection Duration' in the Material Master QM view?

Hi,
facing user requirements that you should be able to consider the QM stock in the ATP calculations in a special way, I want to have some feedback re the usage of this Material Master field. The user actually would like to have the parts available in the Sales Order scheduling line after a specific number of days, when having run the ATP job. The ATP Config is set to include QM stock in the run (and they do not want to change that), so presently the system promise deliveries in the SO, but it can not be done! Nice solution should have been the for instance set a delivery after the planned number of days for inspection as set in the MM QM view! The only usage I have seen so far of this field is that the planend insp date range is visibale alike in tr code QA32, but that is more admin info, not causing hands-on effects.
So two questions:
What hands-on effect does this MM QM field entry have in R/3?
Any suggestion how to solve this user wish re ATP logic??

Set control w/o certificate FIELD as E
Enhanced cert processing tick on.
DO the GR with certicate received no
See the status of insp lot CTCM- certificate conf missing
But you cannot do GR as it is disaloowed
Proceed as below
Goto QC51 and give PO and item no and click ok
Select the appropriate line and click copy
Here you change the certificate status that 5 i.e. certificate field and inspected, mention the certificate date and save
Now see the status of insp lot CROK- certificate receipt confirmed.
Now do UD, it will go through.

This report can be used for analysing the actual material usage against plant in manufacturing process.
MC40 & MC41 - Material usage based ABC Analysis
This report will help you in identifying the fast moving, slow moving / non moving items. The report can be executed at the material level / plant level

Where can I find BOM usage in a Material Master

Hai,
Probably a simple question but I am not able to find the BOM usage in a Material Master. I am looking at a finished product in Pharmaceuticals Industry sector.
Which tab has this filed "BOM usage"? I expected this to be in MRP views and tried without luck.
Can anybody help me?

Have you looked transaction CS15 or FM CS_WHERE_USED_MAT?
Other to find out if and where a material is used in a BOM (as a header and as a BOM position) is to display the product structure. Open the material in MM03, then in Menu Environment->Product Structure. You will see all dependencies.

Usage of MDM's material master relevant XI Content and Business Content

Dear all,
In MDM's material-relevant XI content, there's a message interface "MDMMatmasIn". But in the demo system this interface is not used to write material master data to file. The IDoc type MATMAS.MATMAS05 is used instead. No mapping is used. May I ask why?
I tried the 00_MATMAS05_R3.map file and can import file in the format of MATMAS.MATMAS05. But some value mappings are not done and have to be added manually. Do I miss precedent steps?
In MDM Business content, there're lots of import map files like 00_MATMAS05_R3.map and 03b_Units_SAP_R3.map. During the data consolidation procedure, should we just use one map to import the IDoc-XML file? Shouldn't we first use other map file to fill the lookup tables? If not, what are those map files used for? Is there any document about the usage of those map files?
Very sorry for asking so many questions. I'm very new in this area and desperately need help...

Thanks for the document. But I didn't find how to import the customization data into the lookup tables. For example, in the MDM standard business content, the "Material" repository contains a lookup table "Material Type". It doesn't contain the values like "ROH" and "HAWA". How can we fill such tables?
And the standard map "00_MATMAS05_R3" doesn't automatically add such values into lookup table by value mapping. When I tried to import a material master, I had to manually modify this map. Is there any solution to this problem?

Material master table/field that can store a value that indicates the sales

Hello Gurus....
My Client is looking for a material master table/field that can store a value that indicates the sales volume (quantity) of a material. If the sales volume of a material falls within the top 80% of the total sales volume, then the material will have an indicator of "A", 15% will be "B", bottom 5% will be "C". Business wants to use this field to drive the automatic putaway into different pick zones.
We cannot use ABC Analysis field (MARC-MAABC) or CC phys.in.ind. (MARC-ABCIN) since they are used for ABC analysis and cycle count based on value, nor volume. Using these fields will limit our future use of the true SAP functionality.
field in Purchasing view in the material master called Mfg Part Profile. However, this is also against the original functionality of the field.
Other than, this any other field we can use it? or the only option is to do a custom field?

Material Master Record - How to remove or delete storage location

Dear all,
Is there a way to remove or delete a storage location accidentally extended via MM01 due to extending the general plant view?
I've tried the following:
1. I've used MM06 to flag the particular storage lcoation for deletion. However, when go to MM02 and select the plant view, the storage location that already been flag still exist for selection. I only get the warning prompt "The storage location has been flag for deletion".
2. I tried MMSC attempt to delete and I get either messages with different material master record:
a) "Material not fully maintained for this transaction/event"
OR
b) "Storage location 60BF already exists and cannot be deleted"
P/S: If this question has been asked before by others, please point me to that thread.

I've gone through the data archiving project in the past. I was actually hoping I don't have to go through this big exercise for this minor situation.
The storage locations in the SAP system are fine. The problem is that when I came in to this organization, I found out that the procurement users have accidentally extended material master record to those storage location irrelevant to them. Those users don't post any stock to those accidentally extended storage location. They admit that it was a mistake. So, I don't really have to do stock movement or GI out from those affected storage location because there's nothing in them.
Now that I've initially flag for deletion (MM06) of those mistakes done by those procurement users over the few years counting to 2000+ material master records affected. But the standard behavior of the SAP system allows change to proceed in MM02 except for that warning message MM081. So, I was actually asking around to explore if there's actually an option to make it an error prompt instead and stop the whole change process at MM02 transaction level.
If I may re-confirm, what I've done so far via flaging for deletion of material master record at storage location level - is this the only correct solution available?
Hope this clarifies my intention of opening this thread. Sometimes, users are quite tough in accepting the results from standard SAP system behavior.
