Prod storage loc field in mrp2 view

Hi, as i understand materials are stored in mm storage locations. from mm storage locations, materials will be issued to production orders. in this case why we need prod storage loc filed in mrp2 view of the material master? please advise in which scenario we need to use this field? is it necessary to define prod storage loc in discreate manufacturing? thank you all for your support.

1. why we need prod storage loc filed in mrp2 view of the material master? It is nothing but a intrim stroge location between Store and Shop Floor specially nearby the Production Line from where componenet are issued or back flashed based on the SAP set up of Issu Storage Loaction Priority .
Basically , if you want a SFG material to be issues to FG after in-house production of the SFG and also want to keep some of the Bulk Item or common item which can be issued immediatly upon reservation rather going to MMD store , then one way it will save your time .
2.please advise in which scenario we need to use this field? In case you have SFG/Bulk Item /Low value stock item which are utilised now and then in productiion line or in a group of work centre and you want to material can be picked up immediately as it near the operation line , then you have a facility to stock material called Issue or Production Storage Loaction .
3.is it necessary to define prod storage loc in discreate manufacturing It is not necessary .But REM is is useful for Back Flashing iteem.For FG in house producted item , you can receive the material specifically as SFG/FG store to diffierentiate from others .Some time , you can use the same to store the Sales Order stock based on MTO-Discrete Manufactruing for an cutomer order .

During GR against Process Order Storage loc. not appearing

He Experts,
I am trying to do goods receipt against process order for bulk material using MIGO.
But under where tab in MIGO storage loc field is not appearing. For this material production storage location is maintained in MRP2 view & in material type customizing both quantity & value field is selected for a given plant.
Can you please explain why this field is not appearing? Is there any other customizing behind this? During migo 101 movement type (GR for acct. assgt.) is appearing in moveent type field.

OK,You are trying to do GR for a materisl which is defined as Bulk Material (Can be done in BOM or Material master).
You said , there is no stock appearing for this material in this Storage location.
Check one thing,
go to MMSC and find out whether the storage location is maintained for the material or not?
if your Storage location is not appearing in the list, maintain it there.
Create a new Process order/productrion order and check

In-house production time in MRP2 View

Hi, Please advise what to mention in in-house production days field in mrp2 view, whether we need to mention the time required to produce 1 part or any qty? please advise.

Nice qns... but the answer would be a simple computation from the system. When it is lot-size independent, system just reads the value from IHPT, there is no calculation as such.
But when it is lot size dependent, the system will compute the IHPT based on the values populated in the Lot-size dependent section of work-scheduling view.
I would suggest instead of me writing a whole lot of stuff, take a material in your sandbox & do a simple test with a single operation routing. In the work center maintain formulas for Setup, Operation & in your routing maintain the hours for activities setup & machine. Now in the routing itself click on Extras - Scheduling - Schedule & do the scheduling. Click on Scheduling results you will get the details. Now update the material master.
Now create the production order for different quantity & notice the difference in dates. This will clarify your doubt as to how system would know.
Revert if you face any issues.

Storage Location field suppressed in MIGO

Hi,
I have entered the Storage Loc. in the PO and when I do the GR, the Storage Loc. field is graded out at the item level, only "Plant" is displayed in the "where" tab. I have unchecked the "Create SLoc. automatically" box in OMB3 for Plant and Movmt Type. Also, in OMJJ the field is unchecked.
Is there any other place where I need to make the changes?
I am trying to post the GR to cost center.

Could you confirm the information below:
1. Check the material type of the item in the PO.
2. Check "Define Attributes of Material Types" of the material type in the specified Plant in the PO.
(SPRO: Logistics - General> Material Master> Basic Settings> Material Types> Define Attributes of Material Types. Select the material type in Step 1 and Double click on Sub-folder "Quantity/value updating".
What is the setting for Qty Updating and value updating for your Plant / Valuation area? If it is similar to UNBW, Qty updating should be selected and value updating should be blank.
If both Qty updating and Value updating is selected for the material type and plant you're using. The SLoc field will be grayed out during receipting, the system will treat this item similar to Case 1.

REM Prod Version: How to hide/disable Storage Location fields

Hi,
We are using REM.
For Issue storage locations, we are maitaining str location in BOM/MRP2 View.
For Receving Str locatiom, we are maitaining str location in MRP2 View.
Similarly, for REM assemblies, system provides str locations fields in Production Version.
Requst to guide on following points:
1. What is the application and priority of Strorage locations in Prod Version (PV)?
2. Can the Str locations in PV be hidden/disabled?

Hi, wants system to propose default storage loc of roh materials in migo screen. pls advise is it possible to set in sap? pls note pr's are generated thru mrp. pls advise.

Storage location will pickup from MRP2 view if you want for good issue against production order the please maintain the Production storage location in MRP 2 view or in BOM component.
If it is for the purchase material then miantain the EP storage loacation in MRP 2 view.

Diff. Storage Loc. for GR & Isuue

Hello Friends,
I am having semi finish product say A.
My requirement is that when I do the Auto Goods receipt for this material against process order then
system should use storage location as 3000.
When I Create process order of FG which contains this semi finish mat A, then requirements should be passed to storage location 2000 in process order.
In material master in MRP2 I can maintain only one storage location in Prod. stor. location field.
Is there any solution for the above scenario.

Hi,
Use production storage location in BOM. Go to bom item details - status/Lng Text - and enter production storage location. So when you make auto confirmation system will post the goods to this production storage location. Material stock will be available under this production location only.

Storage loc for GR

Hello,
I have a Finished product A and it has semi finished product B and B has component C.
In the bom of A , the storage loc mentioned for B is '001' but the same storage loc. does not appear as default in proces order for B for goods receipt.
Can i do the GR of B in different storg loc than 001 ?
What seetings i need to chk ?

Dear,
In the process order header , go to tab Goods Recpt and use the storage location field in this screen for defaulting the storage location for automatic goods receipt of the finished material. You can also chech this storage loaction if extended through MMSC.
You have two additional places where you can maintain the issuing storage location for the components, different from the material master that is used for auto GR: in the detail section of the BOM item --> status tab --> further data, or in the production version. Or MRP 2 view.

what i think i sthis report is only for the OPENINGand CLOSING stock for the period or day
now whenu give SL field then system will only concider stock from that SL
the filed of SL will not be viewable in report as it is just opening and closing balance

How we can do the below scenario with this configaration
I have 3 scenarios all scenarios have MIGO and placing stock to WM
2 scenarios requres Immediate TO creation after MIGO 101 mvt type
But last scenario does not want Immediate TO ,it is having another Z transaction to create TO
But problem is for the last scenario also creating Immdiate TO after MIGI 101
How to avoid this Immdiate TO for this scenario
And How to allow it for first 2 scenarios

Hello ,
It is not possible directly in customising as all three cases are using the same Mvt Type.
Alternate Solution :
You may try an by creating a new Mvt Type 901 i.e making a copy of 101.
Thereafter try to link a new Ref Mvt Type to the same .You should use this case for the third scenario.
This may resolve your problem.

Storage Condition field in Material Master Grayed Out.

Hi folks,
We are trying to use the Storage Condition field in a Material Master Plant Data/ Storage Location View. However I noticed the filed is grayed Out.
Then I looked at the Configuration in "Field Selection for Data Screen**" and the selection group 87 which is already selected as Optional which means it should let me pick the Storage Condition field.
**(SPRO->Log Gen->Mat Master->Filed Selection->Maintain Field Selection for Data Screen.)
Please note, I have already created Storage Conditions in SPRO. I am not trying to create new conditions now. I am just not able to pick one and enter it while creating or updating a Material Master.

where exactly you are looking at that you are so certain that is is optional?
In OMSR find your field selection group, then click the button on the right to the field selection group to see in which field reference it is used..
You can probably see many many field references.
There is e.g. a field reference for the transaction, at least for transaction MM03 your field selection should be display only.
there is a field reference for your material type,
there is a field reference for your industry (M, C etc ... the indicator you have to enter in MM01 initial screen)
there is a field reference for your material type,
Are all references (except MM03) are set to optional, or do you see references with display only among them?

Change storage loc in Sales order PO

Hi to all,
Please help me in solving this problem, actually we have created a PO by referring a Sales Order PR with Acc cat-> 'X' and Item Cat-->'S', now the user wants to Change the Storage loc, but the storage loc is grayed out that is non editable, i want to know whether this is a standard functionally of thirdparty PO with item category 'S' or else any configurational changes need to be done. for your information the PO is manual PO, I searched all over the scn i could not able to find it plz if this question is already posted plz let me know the link of the question .

Yes. It is a standard behavior. You can't use the storage location field for item category S.
Its because, the material will direct goes to delivery address location instead of storage location.
Normally, system will not accept storage location for the PO line item which has the item category S.
If you want to keep the storage location for your reporting purpose, then you can use the storage location field as per your requirement.
Go to path OLME-Purchase Order-Define Screen Layout at Document Level. Double click on PT5F field selection group.
then double click on Basic Data, Item.
Then make the storage location as per your requirement (Optional or required).
Then you can able to enter or change the storage location in ME21N or ME22N.
But remember, it will not effect at the time of MIGO.

Relation between storage loc and workcenter/resource

Dear Gurus
My client wants that whatever materials (fert) coming out from a particular workcenter/resource should be posted to a particular storage location.And that the system should propose the storage location while posting of goods.Can a storage location be assigned for any workcenter/resource.

2 suggestions:
1. I presume you have created different routings / group counters within the same routing each specifying the different work center from which you can assemble / manufacture the final product.
Now create different production versions, by specifying the routing & bom details in the PV. Also in the PV, in the section Other Data, you will find a field called Receive Location, here specify the storage loc. relevant for each work center.
Now when you create the order, read the production version which is relevant i.e. depending on the work center, then once the order is completed system will post the stock to the SLoc which you have pre-defined.
2. Use BADi - WORKORDER_UPDATE, method - AT_SAVE or use User exits PPCO0006 or PPCO0007. Create a Z table with Work center and Sloc & this enhancement you can refer to the work center and assign the relevant SLoc, discuss with your abaper.

Storage Location field not appearing in Mat Doc.

Dear All,
While doing GR 105 for PO, the Storage Location Field is not appearing in Mat Doc. Moreover, the TO is not getting created immediately while saving the Mat Doc. I don't know why this is happening?
The material has both Qty/Value Updation ticked and all other related configuration is perfect like Mvt. Types/Ref. Mvt. Types etc.
Please help to resolve.

Thanks for your inputs. As I already mentioned confirguartion is perfect yet there is no St. Loc. field being displayed while Mvt. type. 105. I'll provide more information as below:
- PO has Acct. ***. Cat as "P" as it has WBS element.
- Material Type is ERSA
- GR 103 has happened.
