ProDesk600 to drive four monitors

Can a ProDesk 600 with the internal OEM AMD Radeon HD 8490 graphics card drive four monitors? And how? Please show me. Thank you.

Hi,
It says it can support 4 monitors:
      http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/AMD-Radeon-HD-8490-graphics-card-Radeon-HD-8490-1-GB/3118868.aspx
but it does not say how and that is a big question mark. I saw people getting many troubles to connect more than 2 monitors to video card which is triple its price.  Please read the following article and work out which type of card you need to buy:

  • Anyone know if Illustrator CS5.5 works with four monitors without crashing?

I just recently replaced my two AMD HD5850 graphic cards with a single HD7970.
In my previous system configuration I had a total of four monitors (3 connected to one HD5850, and the fourth monitor to the secondary HD5850 card)
This setup worked great, and I had no issues with Illustrator or any other CS 5.0 applications.
Now when I have replaced my two HD5850 cards with a single HD7970 card, all four monitors are connected to the same card, and now I can't start Illustrator anymore without an app crash.
First I had no idea what was going on, and suspected an AMD Catalyst driver bug, but then I found some interesting information here in the forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/855150#3693345
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/878/cpsid_87838.html
It seems like Illustrator crash if you have your main monitor set to a number greater than 3, and for some reason, my main monitor has been fixed with number 4 of 4 (and there seems to be no way in h#ll it can be changed).
So now, each time I want to use Illustrator CS5.0, I have to first disable one of my monitors, which of course is very frustrating.
    So now to my questions
    1. Will Adobe ever fix this bug as an update for CS5 users?
    2. Does CS5.5 still have this bug? If not I might go ahead and upgrade, but only if someone can confirm that it has been fixed in CS5.5
    Thanks!
    /Magnus

    1. Will Adobe ever fix this bug as an update for CS5 users?
Probably not. With CS6 being something like 4 months away (presumably), you can do your own probability math as to how much interest Adobe may even have to fix this or how many resources they are spending at it. Anyway, not a priority item to be sure, given that there probably are only 0.05% of all AI users even using 4 screens and 2% may be using 3 screens....
    2. Does CS5.5 still have this bug?
CS5.5 (or more appropriately CS5.1) is the same as CS5

  • Four monitor setup on 2013 mac pro using old 23" Cinema Displays

My current monitor setup on a 2009 mac pro is four monitors.  Three 23" Apple Cinema Displays (aluminum, mid 2000's) and one large Sony HDTV mounted to the wall as a fourth monitor.
I achieve this via 2 Geforce 120 video cards, each with a mini display port and a Dvi port each.
My question is, can I retain this same exact monitor setup on a new 2013 Mac pro cylinder?  If so, what adapters will be needed, and do they all plug into the thunderbolt ports?
Hearing all kinds of nightmares about multiple monitor problems with the new MP so want to be sure this will work before I drop big bucks.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the quick reply!
For the Tv I'm currently going VGA out of that to a Dvi adapter into the old Mac Pro.  The 3 Cinema Displays are all ether direct Dvi to the video card and two I have to use a Dvi to mini display port adapter.
So for the new Mac Pro, assuming I don't use the HDMI port, I would need Dvi to minidisplayport adapters for each of the 3 cinema displays and a VGA to minidisplayport for the TV?
EDIT: And the mini display ports may as well all be active I guess, and they need to plug into the usb bus for power?
    Thanks

  • To drive a monitor from a Mini, is there an advantage to using the Thunderbolt port versus the HDMI port?

Is there an advantage to using the Thunderbolt port versus the HDMI port to drive a monitor?
Can i just plug in my 18" LCD TV to the HDMI port and use it as a monitor?

    Thanks, lllaass,
I have a new Mini arriving tomorrow. It will be replacing my 9 year old iMac.
I have at my disposal an older VGA monitor and a regular LCD TV with
an HDMI input. I'm trying to decide which one will work the best for me. If I use the TV, I won't have to buy
    a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter.

  • 7800GT won't drive both monitors

I've just upgraded my system core as follows:
    Mobo: ASUS P5WD2 Premium
uPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Socket 775
    RAM: 2G DDR2
    BIOS: AMI V08.00.10
    HDD: Maxtor Y080P0 EIDE 80GB
    VGA: NX7800GT
    Monitors: 2 x Formac Gallery 2010
    OS: Win2K Pro SP4
My problem is that I cannot get the graphics card to drive both monitors simultaneously (even before Windows has started), although it will operate either on its own (via the corresponding DVI port - i.e. both are working). I even managed to get it to drive monitor 2 (via DVI port 2) during startup by disconnecting monitor 1 temporarily during power up, only to see it switch back to monitor 1 (via DVI port 1) once the Win2K drivers had loaded and started.
What's frustrating is that while I was initially configuring the motherboard's BIOS in an attempt to overcome problems with reading my HDD, I managed to get the graphics card to drive both monitors (purely in text mode, because I couldn't get Windows to start), but cannot now recall the setup that acheived this.
Can anyone advise how I can configure the graphics card and/or my motherboard's BIOS to drive both monitors simultaneously?

    Boffin,
Just to verify, you are using the Drivers from the nVidia Website, not the ones from MSI. If you are using MSI or have used MSI, run Driver Cleaner and then install the nVidia Drivers from the nVidia Website. Also make sure in Display Settings you extend your desktop to the second monitor.
If non of this helps, it sounds like it is time for a fresh install of Win2k or a great time to switch to a fresh install of WinXP.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • My new Mac Mini will not drive two monitors

My new Mini will not drive two monitors, the old one did and they are the same monitors

Hello IIIaass Kind of you to take the time, the situation is now resolved through Support Chat (an exhausting process) and turned out to be a dodgy Thunderbolt/HDMI cable which had worked with my old Mac Mini but not the new one. The moral is "Try a new cable first" Thanks

  • New MacBook Pro 13" OK to drive external Monitor?

My 5 year old Core duo-2 MBP-13" drives a 23" external LG Flat Screen monitor perfectly.  But I am hearing that the latest MBP-13" (including the fastest build-your-own model) has some issues with an external monitor - it may stutter of be slow.
Well I certainly can't spend $2500 for a brand-new high-speed i7 MBP only to find that it doesn't perform as well as my 2010 model when it comes to external monitors--- I use an external 80% of the time!!
Anyone heard anything about this -- or better yet - anyone with the most recent MBP-13" using an external monitor?  If so – could you let me know how it is working for you in this (and any other) aspect?
Thanks!  Might hold out for a GOLD MBP (will they offer one??) - but would like to make a move soon---

  • Will the X1 drive multiple monitors?

I currently have a 2-monitor setup (Dell 30" monitor that requires dual-link DVI, and Dell 24" monitor that requires single-link DVI).
I realize that I'd need to get HDMI-to-DVI and mini-DP to DVI adapters, but if I did so, would the X1 drive the two monitors simultaneously?
As another way of asking, does the X1 drive monitors hooked to the mini-DP and the HDMI ports simultaneously?
    Thanks for any help!

you can drive the Dell 30 inch using the mini DP port (you would need couple of adapters) and the 24 inch using the HDMI port simultaneously.
But the internal LCD will be switched off.

  • ATI card + OS driver + multi monitor

    Hello everyone,
I'm stuck configuring the RadeonHD drivers for multi monitor setup. The system starts with both screens cloned; logging in is in clone mode too. After that the second display is being turned of (no signal). Using xrandr --auto will enable the second display to life and clones the sreen again. xrandr --output DVI-I_1/analog --left-of DVI-I_2/analog will create a big desktop only the second display can only be used for a half screen mouse will go further anything else will not.

  • Why does my Mac Pro late 2013 drive both monitors with one GPU?

System report shows both of my WQHD monitors are running on one GPU.  When I add an HDMI display, it also runs on the same GPU.  Why would it not split the load?  This makes me wonder about when both GPUs are working, if ever.  Since Activity Monitor does not report GPU activity, does anyone know of an app that gives real-time reports on GPU usage?

If you add six displays, they will all be supported by one GPU -- the display GPU. The second GPU is reserved for un-interrupted GPU computing and has no Display output Hardware.
Anandtech has a discussion of this in his review of the late 2013 Mac Pro.
Under OS X the situation is a bit more complicated. There is no system-wide CrossFire X equivalent that will automatically split up rendering tasks across both GPUs.
By default, one GPU is setup for display duties while the other is used exclusively for GPU compute workloads. GPUs are notoriously bad at context switching, which can severely limit compute performance if the GPU also has to deal with the rendering workloads associated with display in a modern OS. NVIDIA sought to address a similar problem with their Maximus technology, combining Quadro and Tesla cards into a single system for display and compute.

Well, you win the prize... the ATI 4350 does work... albeit with a LOT of trying different options to get it all to work properly
When I got home last night wife want to try RIGHT NOW and I was too tired to go back out... so I turned my computer off and "temporarily" moved my 24 inch monitor over next to her 24 inch
I know now why I found so many questions/complaints about setting up a dual monitor system
Hardware is easy...  simply connect the 2nd monitor to the 2nd output... program/logic is NOT intuitive at all, so it took me about half an hour of clicking around to get things set up and working properly
Right now, I have borrowed "her" 2nd monitor back to check email and messages this morning, and as soon as I finish here my computer goes dark again so I can put "her" 2nd monitor back in place
