Producing Movies for Distribution

I am attempting to produce a digital portfolio from a powerpoint presentation by converting the slide show into a Quick Time movie. My question is, if I burn the movie to a CD for distribution to clients is there a way to provide a Quick Time player with the CD in the event that the viewer does not have a QuickTime player already setup on their computer so that they would not have to download the player to be able to view the portfolio. And, if I where to provide said viewer on the CD would it be capable of running from the CD without being installed on the clients computer?

It will require an install and restart to work.

  • Producing movies for PAL as widescreen 16:9

    Hi all
I have FCE 4/Quicktime Pro/iLife 09 and want to make my movies to play on my widescreen HD ready TV, however I seem to mostly end up with 4 x 3 movies, which is frustrating, as well as being a waste of discs. My camera is a Panasonic NV-GS75 using Mini DV tape with a widescreen facility which I have set it to. I have also tried using iMovie with XML export to FCE4.
What I would like is a sure fire formula to make my movies as widescreen for PAL which would use the whole screen, even with my TV being 1080 HD. I occasionally make wedding video's for friends which in the past I produced on iLife 06 but I want fancy transitions and to get it right before I ply for further trade.
Can anyone out there help !!!

    Thanks Tom
I will give that a try. Do I also need to check the anamorphic tab on all the clips I use in FCE, or just the sequence, and what setting should I use in QT conversion to ensure the best quality for TV viewing ?
Sorry for so many questions !!!

  • Why does it take I movie 6 hours to produce thumbnail for a new project

why does it take I movie 6 hours to produce thumbnail for a new project

    Hi
    Seems very long time.
When my Mac starts to get into a slow-motion in action eg encoding DVDs or alike - it's nearly always due to that free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk is to low.
    • I try to never have less than 25Gb free space
    • 10Gb - might work but slows down
    • 5Gb - slow and instable
    • less - incredibly slow, instable and if DVD is produced - it usually doesn't work
This space can not be utilized on other hard disks - Neither for Mac OS or iMovie or iDVDs temp. files - Has to be stored here. No-where else.

  • Prepopulate multiple records from a tab delimited text database for distribution, completion, return

I am using Acrobat 8 Pro and am trying to prepopulate a form about 900 times for distribution, each with its own unique data. I can only get Acrobat to populate form at a time. I can't get LiveCycle to read the data, even as .xml so I have to do this through Acrobat only. Does anyone know how to batch read and print?

This forum is for the Adobe FormsCentral (formscentral.adobe.com) which is a service that allows you to create, collect and analyze data using an online web form. You should ask PDF related form questions in the Acrobat forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/acrobat_windows
I'll move your post to that forum so you don't need to retype it. They can help you out...

  • Movies for IPAD2 if South African

So now that I have bought the IPAD it seems I cannot buy movies from the USA itunes store as I am South African. Great. Where else can I buy movies on line that I can use on the IPAD? This is a lot of work for something that was meant to be easy and fun.

Sorry, but I've not heard of any download store that has been licensed to sell feature films in South Africa. It's all up to whatever entities hold the distribution rights for SA for feature films, and apparently those companies have not yet been willing (or able due to contract issues) to license movies for download sale. Unless and until such permissions are granted, there's nothing Apple or any other company can do.
But an Apple TV isn't "useless". It can still play music as well as videos that you can obtain from a legal source, if any are available in South Africa (same problem as with feature films) or that you import from your own camera. That might not be what you had in mind when you purchased the Apple TV, but it's not "useless" as such.
    Regards.

  • Best way to move the distribution and subscriber to another server

What is the best way to move the distribution and subscriber role to a different server for transactional replication?
Stop activity on the publisher then script out the drop and create and point to the new ones?
The publisher will remain the same server.
    Thank you!
    Paula

    Hi Paula,
According to your description, you want to move distribution database and subscription database to a different server.
Firstly, to move distribution database without dropping and recreating the replication topology, you could follow the steps in the
article . However, the best way I recommend is to remove the replication, create the distribution on the new server, and recreate publication and subscription.
To make this process simple, you could use SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to generate scripts and run the scripts to recreate publications and subscriptions or drop publications and subscriptions as the screenshot below. Checking ‘To create or enable
the components’ generates the script for creating the publications and subscriptions, and Checking ‘To drop or disable the components’ generates the script for dropping the publications and subscriptions.
Firstly, please use SSMS to generate the script which is used to create publications and subscriptions.
1.Connect to Publisher, or Subscriber in SSMS, and then expand the server node.
2.Right-click the Replication folder, and then click Generate Scripts.
3.In the Generate SQL Script dialog box, check ‘To create or enable the components’.
    4.Click Script to File.
5.Enter a file name in the Script File Location dialog box, and then click Save. A status message is displayed.
6.Click OK, and then click Close. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152483.aspx.
Secondly, follow the steps above, check ‘To drop or disable the components’ to generate the script used to drop publications and subscriptions. Then run the script to drop publications and subscriptions.
Thirdly, please disable distribution using Transact-SQL or SSMS following the steps in the article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152757(v=sql.105).aspx.
Fourthly, please create the distribution at the new server using Transact-SQL or SSMS following the steps in the article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms151192.aspx#TsqlProcedure.
Last, please run the script generated in the first step to recreate publications and subscriptions.

  • Optimum Settings for Creating .MOV for Web

    Hello,
I shot my video footage using a Canon XL-1 with a MiniDV tape. I then loaded this footage into Final Cut Pro (Version 4), running on MAC (Version 9.0), and then completed my editing. Besides creating a final 42-minute version to be shown on television, I would like to break up this 42-minute version into three separate pieces (a 21-minute, an 11-minute, and a 10-minute slice) for Web/Internet delivery.
To do this, I will create three separate .MOV files; however, I would like to know the 'OPTIMUM' configuration Final Cut Pro settings/considerations before creating these .MOVs for optimum audio/video quality when shown on a website. By the way, after I produce these .MOV files, I plan to encode them using FlixPro's ON2 V6 Codec to finally produce Flash 8 .FLV files for uploading to my web server.
Any and all advice regarding optimum Final Cut pro settings/considerations before creating these .MOVs would be aprreciated immensely!

Thank you for your reply. I take it then that current default settings are OK.

  • When movies for non-US citizens?

    Hi.
As a Swiss citizen, I have a Swiss credit card and I am not allowed to buy any items on the US iTunes Store.
The Swiss iTunes store sells only music.
Are there any plans to make available some kind of movies for Swiss people?
    Kind regards.
    sph

Sorry, but as has been said here many times already, the entities that hold the distribution rights for movies for your country have not licensed Apple to sell movies there. There's nothing Apple can do unless and until they're granted the rights. When, or indeed if, this will happen.
Again, sorry, but we'll all just have to wait and see.

It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

My iPhone 4 with iOS 6 is making me start to hate Apple. Any App and at any time I open and I can not view it or move for more than 2 minutes, they close themselves. During connections, it also gives this problem and the signal disappears after a few seconds back but often the person on the other end has hung up ... I can not stand it anymore, someone suggests something?
Besides these problems, there is the battery, which was bad got worse, she is not lasting more than 10 hours, even without using the phone.
Sometimes it even seems that the problem was solved, but my joy did not last long after I celebrate all the problems return, is incredible ...
    thanks.
    Sorry my bad Inglês.

  • Goods movement for production order

is there a way that goods that are produced moves in to blocked stock and after certain period of time (eg 3 days) they move in to unrestricted use  automatically. can we do this

    Hi,
In CO02, on "Goods receipt" tab you can set the "Stock type" in which the goods should be posted when you make confirmation.
You can set QI stock type in material master (MM02, "Work scheduling" tab), but I'm not aware of any possibility to set Blocked stock type as default... Is there any sense to post the goods directly into blocked stock type?
I'm afraid your requirement cannot be covered in standard system.

  • TS4223 I accidentally bought the HD version of a movie for my daughter's iPod nano (it can't be watched on the Nano).  So I'm trying to figure out how to re-download the SD version.  do I have to pay for the lower version??

I accidentally bought the HD version of a movie for my daughter's nano. you can't watch HD on a nano.  So I'm trying to figure out how to re-download the SD version.  This help screen makes it seem like you can just correct the problem and just "download" the lower version.  But when I follow the steps, I basically get to where I'm just having to actually purchase the other version.  Do I have to pay to get the lower quality version after I've already paid for the HD version?

When you purchase an HD movie or show, in most cases the SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select Movies or TV shows as appropraite. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the movies/shows and be able to download them.
Note that with digital copies from a Blu-Ray or DVD, if it comes with an HD copy, you normally cannot get the SD copy as well and have to purchase it separately if you want it.
    Regards.

Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...
