Producing sound logic pro

Hey! if anybody could help me that would be great! When creating music, I record a guitar track just fine, but i then go to record another track and i then hit play and i can't hear my second track! i'm sorry i'm new to this!

A bit more info please. Are you actually recording the other track and how do you monitor your recordings? Also could you post a ScreenShot of of the Arrange / Mixer belonging to this particular project?

How can I use the sounds of the Yamaha Motif XF6 in Logic Pro 9?

I have Logic Pro 9 on my Mac Book. I also have a Yamaha Motif XF 6 synthesizer. Instead of using Logic's software instruments I would like to record the sounds of the Motif directly into Logic.
I have been told that an audio interface is necessary for this. What kind of audio interface would be good for this? Any in particular?
And, once I have obtained the interface, what steps do I need to take to hook up the Motif into Logic to utilize the Motif's sound bank?
Detailed steps would help, as this is new stuff for me.

Since this is a user forum only, and your questions will take a lot of time to answer you might want to check both the Logic manual and the XF6 manual. The XF6 has possibilities such that you may not need and Audio interface if the Firewire option is present.
Also you have a built in USB MIDI interface as well, you will need to download the Yamaha MIDI driver.
Read Exploring Logic Pro, especially chapter five, you can record your performance via MIDI, edit it and then commit to audio.
Dig in.

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. You are doing a disservice by not contributing positively and by trying to make this forum what you want it to be. Don't drag the midi into an open Logic project. The tracks won't set up correctly.
'Open' the midi file with Logic as if it were a Logic project. Then all the tracks will be set up so you can start editing them and applying better saved sounds and instruments, but you'll be at a starting place where you can hear what's going on.

The Mac reads the USB cable as a midi device, but not the keyboard that I am trying to use as a controller. I have tried it with my korg sp 300 and with my Nord Electro 2.

Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.

How to get a good vocal sound with Logic Pro 9

I apologize for the ignorance of this question, but I am really looking to figure out a way to get my vocals to sound the way I would like them to sound, but I'm not really sure where to start.
I started out using Garageband years ago, and really like the vocal setting of "Live Performance" when I went to real instrument/vocal. It had a sound that I liked, and I didn't have to go to a lot work to achieve it. When I went to Logic Pro 9 a while back I saw that they had the Garageband setting of Live Performance, but it really didn't sound the same, so I ended up starting songs in Garageband, and then importing them into Logic Pro.
I would really like to move on and be able to set up vocals from scratch, and put in different inserts and play around with different sounds to experiment with for vocals. Does anyone have any advice on learning inserts to use, and perhaps a tutorial video they might suggest that could help educate me on this?
I don't even know if you should start with Compressor, then Chan EQ. Perhaps someone might be able to steer me in the right direction. Thanks so much.

Klunde, you are missing out the most vital parts in your post. A vocal chain for recording is:
You (your voice) - Microphone - Mic Pre - (perhaps hardware compressor, perhaps not) - (perhaps hardware eq, perhaps not) - then finally what you are recording into.
The source is the single biggest influence on what you need to do in the mix regardless of what you are recording into. In our case here, it happens to be Logic. My own vocal chain changes depending on what i am aiming to achieve and this carries through to the mix. On one song I may use a blue face 1176 plugin if required and on another a CL1B etc. Both sound great but both sound different and there are a myriad of ways to use each one. The same goes for EQ's and reverbs. But what you need for all of this is a great source. Get this right and your mixes and decisions will be a lot easier and your desired results faster to achieve.
So what is your source for your vocals?
After this it is all down to taste. For example, a compressor going into an eq sounds different from an eq going into a compressor. Neither one is right or wrong. Experience and experimentation will tell you which you want to use for a particular song. Top mixer Chris Lord-Alge uses lots of compression on everything. Top mixer Bruce Swedien is notorious for using virtually none. Both consistently mix great records and both have spent a life time honing their art and skill set. Experiment but get your recording chain right which means choosing the right kit for your vocal and gain staging everything properly.

No Sound Output from Logic Pro 9

I recorded a 4-track performance in Logic Pro 9, but when I play it back the displays show that the sound is there but no sound comes out of my computer. Other files that I have recorded in Logic Pro 9 play fine. Any Suggestions?
My Preferences Core Audio is set to Built-in Output, with an I/O Buffer Size of 256, 24-Bit Recording, Unversal Track Mode and Software Monitoring. Audio Settings specify Automatic Management of Channel Strip Objects, Automatic Naming of Channel Strip Objects and Playback Pre-roll, with a sample rate of 44.100 kHz. My Apple Sounds System Preferences are set for Built-In/Internal Speakers, the output volume is all the way up, and the mute is off. I cannot figure out what is keeping the sound from coming out. Again, any ideas would be appreciated...

Here are some things to try.
You said you have core audio set to built in outout , yet you have an Apogee ensemble. Can you hear audio coming from the computer output?
Can you play other audio files from this session?
In the lower right hand corner of Logic in the arrange window there is a volume control, did you turn that down without realizing it?
Can you hear audio from another Logic Session?
Can you hear Audio From Itunes?

How to use pianoteq sounds in logic pro? I've got an iMac 3.6 Ghz., intel core i5, OS 10.8.5. I want to be able to use my Bluthner piano sound (which is an add-on in pianoteq) in Logic Pro X (10.0.4).

Try this in a new empty project:
In the New Tracks box select a software instrument track, and un-check the Open Library box
You will see a track plus the channel in the Mixer
Click on the Input "Inst" button, and you will see a menu like this
Correctly installed 3rd party 64bit AU plugins will be in the AU Instruments sub-menu.

What guitar distortion do you guys recommend if I want to get a Jimmy Eat World sound in Logic Pro?

You are better off getting a dedicated gaming box for gaming than using a Mac for heavy gaming.
Unless you go with a top of the line iMac with just about all of the optional components, Macs do not make great heavy gaming machines. Plus, a gaming box is sooo much cheaper than a Mac for gaming.
For using Logic, I would just go for the 21 inch screen iMac and get it with the optional full 16 GBs of RAM and optional i7 CPU and, if you can afford all of the options, get this iMac with the optional Fusion drive, too!
The combination SSD and hard drive in the fusion drive will help make up for the slower 5400 RPM drives that they are putting into only the 21 inch screen models.
With this configuration, this iMac would last you, at least, 5 years.

Need some help with strange sounds in Logic Pro 8

When I have arrange window open, suddley strange high tones starts to make noise in my headphones. I don't know where these sounds comes from or why, but I need some help to get them away. Should I just try to contact Apple?

if you are listening through headphones using the built in audio from the mac, you may be hearing fan noise or a hard drive spin noise.

Logic Pro X slow, no external sound

Brand new mac mini, 2.6GHz, OSX 10.8.4 - 16GB RAM - 250GB SSD Drive
Using Logic Pro 10.0.1
Just got this computer today and logic pro x. having a few different issues:
1. Midi works fine, i can play the soft synths but scrolling though presents is a little slow (just upgraded from my 2007 imac 2GB Ram, and it was faster scrolling through presets on this old machine!). too slow.
2. Playing a softsynth will move my channel and master meters very slowly, they will appear as if they are still pushing through a signal 10 seconds or more after there is no sound - they are very, very slow and completely unrepresentative of what is occuring on that channel.
3. Trying to record an external synth, i cannot hear any audio, even though the meter is showing that there is sound coming through (audio preferences are fine, audio interface is a roland studio capture that works with ableton live just fine; this same external synth records just fine in ableton live 9 on the same channel).
4. Using a novation 49SL MKii controller, it does not control Logics mixing board. Already set it up in the preferences as a control surface.
_ tried repaiting permissions, unistalled and reinstalled Logic, to no avail. Also ran logic without the novation/automap and its still causing the same problems - somebody help me please! Dont want to have to work totally within Ableton.

I suspect it will be a driver/hardware issue relating to your GAR24M rather than anything to do with LPX.

Logic Pro missing EXS24 sounds after migration

I just got a new iMac and migrated Logic from my old Mac. But a LOT of the sounds I use from the EXS24 plugin are missing!
Does anybody know how I can get them back? I already tried to reinstall Logic, but the sounds are still missing.
It's weird because some of the sounds are still there, while others are missing.
My luck, most of the ones I use are the ones missing.
I don't know if other plugins are also missing stuff, so far they all seem to be EXS24 sounds.

Using MA is never a good idea with Logic as many people find themselves having the same issue.
It is always better to install Logic from scratch on a new Mac.... alongh with any 3rd party plugins and libraries and then copy over your projects etc manually...
But.. having said that, did you also download all the additional content from the Logic Pro menu bar option?

You may also need to try and rebuild your Spotlight indexes too.. but again, that doesn't always fix things...

Logic Pro X records (Audio) all the sounds of my computer when i plug in my guitar!

When i plug in my Guitar (iRig) in my MacBookPro Retina, Logic Pro records all the sounds of my Computer. Even the sounds from itunes. The problem is now, I can`t record more then one track because if i want to play another track over the first one, the sound of the first one is recorded on the second track too!:SSS Help!
