Product Catalog Site in SharePoint Online

I am in the process of developing a a SharePoint Online site for Sales catalog (Product Catalog). I am trying to refer the steps for product catalog setup in SharePoint and I am always pointed to the steps which is explained for On-Premises. Can anyone
please point me to the right resource which details about the steps/configuration for Product Catalog site development in SharePoint Online. Would be a great help and need this info in urgency.

Hi,
Catalog is supported in E3 and E4 subscriptions of SharePoint Online.  Please refer to the following technet article.

  • How can i add a special user to the "site collection administrators" of the personal site on sharepoint online when the personal site is creating ?

when a new personal site is created on the sharepoint online 2013, then the administrator of this personal site will be himself. we can add another person to the "site collection administrators", then this person have full control of this personal
    site.
but my request is : add this personal to the personal site when the personal site is creating, but not after the personal site has created ?
Is anybody know how to do that?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add a special user to the "site collection administrators" of the personal site on sharepoint online when the personal site is creating.
    Per my knowledge,
there is no out of the box way to accomplish this with SharePoint.
This is a forum which is supported for SharePoint On-Premise.
Regarding SharePoint Online, for quick and accurate answers to your questions, it is recommended that you initial a new thread in Office 365 forum.

  • Sharing anonimously a site in Sharepoint online 2013

    Hi,
I have created a subsite under the url https://mydomain.sharepoint.com/sites/mysite. It is a blog.
I want to allow anonymous users (sending them a link) to access the site but I can't figure out the way to do that.
I can do that with a document (sending an anonymous link) but not with a site. Is it possible that Microsoft do not permit that?
I don't want to ask users to registrate a Microsoft account.
Any help welcome. Thanks in advance.

It is not possible to provide anonymous access to a SharePoint site in SharePoint Online. Instead you need to create the "Public Site" which has very limited functionality, but is anonymous accessible.
The only option is to share with "external users", as you stated, using a Microsoft Account.

  • Site collections, or sub-sites, in SharePoint Online?

We have an established SharePoint 2010 intranet portal, which has many and various team sub-sites.  These sub-sites are created on request - sometimes it's because one of our locations wants their own little area to share documents, or it might be for
    a company-wide project or initiative.
We are now slowly moving over to SharePoint Online.  Mainly, it's to replace Box and Dropbox (which some teams use), and allow our staff to share files externally if needed.  Nothing special, just a document library.  More often than not,
each site will have its own unique permissions.
Now, our SharePoint 2010 site is one large site collection (wasn't my idea).  As an administrator, that makes my life quite easy as it's one content database, one set of content types, etc.  But, with SharePoint Online, I don't need to think about
content databases, and won't be using custom content types with these sites.
So, I'm a bit stuck.  My options, as I see it, are:
One large site collection (pretty much a no-go as these shared files might get quite large)
One site collection for each request, no questions asked (which might lead to hundreds of site collections)
Create a site collection for each office location, and then a sub-site for each team in that location (as requested) - and also create a site collection for each company-wide function, and create a sub-site for each project within that function
Can anyone give any pointers towards the "best" option to use here?

it always depends on different things.
One of the key elements I always use to decide site vs site collection is security boundary.
If the target site has a high level of confidentional information, I prefer a dedicated Site collection.
If it is just a smaller team (or broader team) to share info with you can easy use sub sites.
Looking at the boundary & limits is also wise to do. (like the 5000 item treshold in a view on a document library)
A document library should in practice not really be used for multiple teams, however it is possible. A lot of dl's within a site is also not that intuitive for a lot of end-users.
A office location can be use, however, a lot of work is done across office locations. (now or in the future)
One site collection per each request is not by definition a bad thiing... however please be in control (governance) of the owners. For example let a site collection owner every x months acknowledge that he/she still needs that site collection or that it
    can be removed.
One Large site collection is asking for trouble in the end. however for a publishing intranet only it can be good.
Good luck with your choice for your environment!

  • How to add a form to a public site with sharepoint online 2013 (plan2)

We need to add a form to a public site: in particular a form where candidates can apply submitting some info and sending a file (cv).
What would you recommend to use?
    Thank you,
    ER

No, our Sharepoint is not bundled in any of office 365 subscriptions.
    It's a simple SPO Plan 2 subscription.
I don't know if it makes any difference though.

  • Report the number of users who provisioned a My-site on sharepoint online?

I have a Office 365 SharePoint instance that we have activated a large number of user accounts on, I am trying to find a way to run a report that will show me the total count of users who have logged into SharePoint and provisioned a my-site. essentially
a list of the total number of my-sites and the name or ID of the user they belong to. We are trying to gauge adoption across the organization, a report like this would be really valuable. Any chance someone knows an easy solution for this?
    yaddaimean

My Sites are typically located within a common location, like http://sharepoint/my/* or http://my.sharepoint.com/*
Assuming this is the case in your tenant, I would try the
Get-SPOSite cmdlet to get a list of sites that match a particular filter or pipe the results through a where clause. I've never done this myself and don't have a tenant to test against but I imagine it would look something like this:
    $mysites = Get-SPOSite -Limit All | where {$_.Url -Like "http://sharepoint/my/*"}
    $mysites.Count
I can't find any information about the SPOSite object. I'm assuming it has an Owner property like the SPSite object. If it does, you should be able to get a list of users who have created a My Site:
    foreach ($mysite in $mysites) {
    $mysite.Owner
I honestly hope this works :)

  • Hide the Notification Bar in my sub site in Sharepoint Online

    Hi All,
I have this annoying notification or status bar right at top of my Team Site that continuously displays the message -
This site can be shared with people outside this organisation. Learn More
When I click the learn more option it says that the site is shared with external users. I am the
site collection admin but i can't see external user invitation feature anywhere in the
site collection features which means that external sharing has been
disabled by admin (correct me if i am wrong). So anyways I am not able to hide this hideous notification from niether my parent nor my sub site.
Is there a way to hide this notification only at the subsite level ? If not is there any way to hide this notification at the parent site itself ?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

What to can do if it gets really annoying for the small amount of time it's there you can go to settings the notifications and turn them off. Or quicker do not disturb but that turns all off text every thing hope I helped :) 10 points please.

  • Get user manager in workflow SharePoint Designer 2013 for SharePoint online list item

    Hello,
I would like to create a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013 for a list in a site on SharePoint online and one of the action would be to send an e-mail to the manager of the user that created an item in a list.
How can I get the manager of the user and then use it to send an e-mail?
    Thanks!

In SP Designer there's the following action that I use.
Find Manager for this user (then output to variable:manager) Action
This is for SPD 2010 not sure if it's still available in SPD 2013

  • Pre-requisites for e-Discovery from SharePoint Online to Exchange Online and On-prem

    Hi,
I want to setup an O365 e-discovery site for SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Exchange On-prem. My understanding is that to have e-Discovery from SPOnline to Exchange Online & Exchange On-prem, we need to setup Exchange hybrid with OAuth. Please correct
me if I am missing something. I have few questions regarding this setup -
    1) Do we need to have Exchange 2013 On-premise for this setup? Or can it be done with Exchange 2010 too?
    2) Is OAuth absolutely necessary for e-discovery to work between Exchange Online & On-prem? Or hybrid environment will work?  Can OAuth be configured between Exchange 2010 On-prem and Exchange Online for e-discovery?
    3) Any other pre-requisites?
    Thanks.

Yes, you will need Exchange 2013 SP1 or later with OAuth configured to cross-premises eDiscovery searches in Exchange.

    to me.
Any idea why cannot create migrate SharePoint Online lists to SharePoint On-Premises?
    John

    Hi,
Just for your information, SharePoint Online is always updated - as Office team apply the latest patches in SharePoint Online and later release the patches for on-premises.
Have you tried to use the list temlates in another site in SharePoint Online? If it works in another site in SharePoint Online then I think the problem is somehow the Online has more recent patches than on-premise. Also is the list refering to another list/content
types that might not be imported in the on-premise site?

  • Cross Site Publishing in SharePoint Online

I was asked to test Cross Site Publishing features in SharePoint 2013 Online. I saved the Authoring site collection's (Used Team Site's Template since Product Catalog Template not avialable in SP Online) Pages library as a Catalog. When I connected that
catalog in my Publishing site collection, 2 pages created automatically. Category Page is showing the content, but CatelogItem page is empty. How can I configure Content Search Web Part to show the Page Content of the Authoring Sites's page?
Can we show Authoring sites Pages libraries page content on the publishing site?
Is this possible in SharePoint Online Cross Site Publishing?

  • Sharepoint Online Moving/Copying a Dev Site to a More Permanent Site

Hi everyone. I built a SharePoint online Workflow with forms etc within a Dev site collection. Now that it is working properly the way we'd like, I need to put it on a more permanent Site Collection. I am having trouble figuring out the proper way to do
this. My searches come up with some instruction that don't exactly match up to our site configuration settings so I am reluctant to actually try it as I'm afraid of wrecking something I've already built. Any tips or links to a good instructional forum or site
    would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks!

    Hi sragen,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to copy a workflow from a Dev site collection to other site collection in SharePoint Online.
If the workflow is a reusable workflow, you can save the workflow as template in SharePoint 2013 Designer, download it, then upload the workflow template into other site collections as a solution, and activate it.
Or, you can use a third party tool to do it, like:
    http://www.metalogix.com/Products/Content-Matrix.aspx

  • Is there any REST API to get all the Site and site Collections from Sharepoint Online

    Hi,
I have one SharePoint Online tenant. We are using REST API to integrate SharePoint to our internal System.
For my use case I need to get all the SharePoint sites ans Sitecollections. From each SiteCollection I need all the subsites under this.
I have used below REST Query
    http://<Base site url>/_api/web
This doesn't give me all the Site collections
Could any one please give me some way to get all the Site collections and sites from my sharepoint tenant through REST API.
    Thanks,

    Hi Abhiram,
There seems no such endpoint in SharePoint REST API can retrieve a list of site collections in a SharePoint Online tenant:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj860569.aspx#Reference
If Client Object Model can be an option for you, you can use Tenant object to achieve what you want:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/24050.perform-basic-admin-operations-using-csom-in-sharepoint-online.aspx#Scenario_3_Fetch_All_Site_Collections
Anyway, I would suggest you submit a feedback to the Office Developer Platform if there any expectation about the future version of REST API of Office 365 SharePoint
    Online:
    http://officespdev.uservoice.com/
    It
is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products. What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft
Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
