Product Category in SAP SRM

Hi,
When we click on Describe Requriement option or create limit order option, the product category is defaulted. Is there anyway to remove thiis default value.

no ravi . it is sap standard.
are you geting last category or first category in COMM_HIERARCHY there?
you can do little developments.
create one dummy product category and default it in the extended attribute and evaluate via doc check badi if it is dummy dont order it.
this way your problem get solved.
this is our guru dave method.

Hi all,
How are you?
I´ve seen some scenarios where clients have product category maintained in R/3 (SPRO / Logistics - General / Material master / Settings for key fields / Define Material groups).
You can use LSMW to create product categories.
Then you have to replicate those categories / Material groups to SRM. You can do this by Midleware (transaction R3AS). You can see hierarchys in srm at transaction comm_hierarchy.

Product Category Error in SRM

Hello Gurus,
I tried to replicate Material Group from ECC to SRM using R3AS tcode.
When I checked the status in R3AM1 it was showing running status but by mistake I clicked on cancel button and the status is "abort"
Even after setting filter in Product category I tried to load but the system is throwing same error message as "abort"
Please help me how to do fresh load.

I assume that you have correctly maintained the relationship of BP and org unit in PPOSA_BBP ?
You can see that they are linked in the org structure .
Follow these and see if it helps ?
1. Now try to click on repair
2. Fill the email ID here ..
3. Click on relationship and then display there also edit the Email Address ..

Product Category Deletion in SRM (not with Hierarchy)

Hello All,
Certain Product categories are to be deleted in SRM which belong to different R3 Back end systems
I tried the COMM_HIERARCHY Tx in SRM and did the following:
   Select the Product assigned to the relebvant Back end system and delete manually
But I observed that there are dependencies as in case this P Category is assigned to some Pgrps as RESP_PRCAT
in which case , this assignment is to be deleted prior to deleting the Pcategory from the system
It is a huge and manual work.
Did anybody come across such a scenario?
Are there any standard reports by SAP or customized reports developed which can be made use of?

Use the following reports
COM_PRODUCT_DELETE_ALL      Used to delete product master data.
COM_PRODUCT_DELETE_SINGLE     Used to delete product master data.
For executing above reports please register your user id and program names in below table then only you can execute above reports.COMC_PR_TOOL_REG

SRM7: Product Category drop down as in SRM 5

Hello,
we are looking for having the same functionality as in SRM 5 when entering a product category. In SRM 5 we have a history in a drop down list. Is there a way to have the same in SRM 7?

From SRM 7.0 onwards ,the SRM interface works on Webdynpro Technology.
It is not possible to have the drop down in SRM 7.0 like in SRM 5.0 which is of ITS .
If you client is asking tell them it is SAP SRM product design

Product category in srm should over write the punch-out catalog category

Hello Gurus,
I have a requirement to overwrite the product category which is coming from the punch-out catalog with the SRM product category.
Exactly saying i am looking for a mapping program.
Because the product category schema in Punch-out Catalog is different from the product category schema in SRM.
Is there any BADI that is available to help and Can anybody has the experience in doing so....??

Actucally i am using NIGP as the Schema, Can you explain me how we can do with more details how to configure the settings to map the exteranal product category with the internal product category and with out going to BADI.
IMG> SRM> SRM Server --> Master Data --> Content management --> Mapping for schema.
You set your schema for product category (UNSPSC, ..) and then define the mapping for a schema .

Product category does not exist in logical system

Hello Experts,
Need help in understanding product category change behaviour.
Shopping cart created and approved.
PO created and approved.
Now PO change version created by changing product category.
Please enlighten me whether this change is really allowed on business perspective and SAP perspective.
So far we been told that there is business case to justify this change.
If allowed by SAP, then how do we solve the problem of error occuring in workflow "product category does not exist in logical system XXXX".

1.are you ordering the item from external catalog? ( any mapping between catalog product category to SAP product category )?
2. after approved PO created.
3. Now BUYER could change the product category again?
4. why the BUYER takes push ups for REQUESTER . Let Buyer cancel the PO and ask requester to create a PO.
What is the business process existing in your business ?
Since product category determines purchase group and every thing like gl account etc..
Can you recreate the same issue in development box?

You have an SRM PO with items having multiple account assignment. Go to the PO item overview OR to the item basic data tab and change the product category. However, this does not trigger a new GL account determination for the accounting lines.

Symptom
When ever a Contract item (Free text or Product Category) is assigned to a Purchase order free text line item, The category modification is not allowed. This is because the product category is always copied from the contract item and overrides the Category for Purchase Order Item. It is confusing for the user as the category is editable and can't be modified.
SAP has different different behaviors . Kindly tell us what type you belongs too...

Default product category

Hi Experts,
I am having a problem with the 'default' product category function:
If I DO NOT set the indicator for making a product category as default, SRM takes the last one from the list in extended attributes?
I would like the field 'product category' in the shopping cart to be blank?

Which SRM version are you using ?
It's a standard SAP behaviour.
Product categories have to be available into SRM !! It is a mandatory master data.
You can use method ENRICH_ITEM_DATA in BADI BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER to do this.
To change data (product category...) from the catalog to the shopping cart, please use BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER badi.
Or
Implement the BADI "BBP_F4_READ_ON_ENTRY".
Or
Implement combination of BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI as well as BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI.

You can use the field CATEGORY_ID in the structure BBP_OCI_ENRITEM for the Product Category.

Product Category Hierarchy

Dear All,
i'm playing with Product Category Hierarchy in SRM 5.0. The Scenario i use is Extended Classic and in backend system we do not want to manage any Category Hierarchy. I created my SRM own Hierarchy starting from Product Category imported from back-end system. I have imported product category at first level and created 'stand alone' product category at subordinate levels. Unfortunatly what i want to have is the last level of my 'stand alone' Hierarchy related with back-end Product Category and not the root. I'd like to know if in your opinion we need to use the related Badi to re-map 'Stand alone' catagory to back-end's catagory or is possible to manage this mapping without the badi.

Scenario -> Extended classic in SRM 5.0
1) Is it posible to do the assignment during the intial load? How abt using BBP_PRODCAT_HIER?
2) Is it posible to assign the already replicated pdt. categories to locally created pdt. category in SRM?
Please provide inputs on these...

Issue in product category replication from R/3 to SRM

Mehul G Shah: BACKGROUND:
We are in the process of replicating Material Group from R/3 to SRM
using transaction R3AR2 & R3AR4. Our Pre-Production server got
refreshed recently & this has caused all EBM data inclucing Logical
System & Destination being overwritten with EBP data.
We have maintained middleware paramaters, viz., CRMCONSUM, CRMRFCPAR,
CRMPAROLTP & also TBE11.
We have also maintained sites in CRM Middleware Monitoring Cockpit
using SMWP.
We have also tried after deleting entries in tables CRMPRLS (R/3) &
CRMMLSGUID (EBM) as suggested by SAP note 765018
We have followed steps mentioned in link /people/marcin.gajewski/blog/2007/02/05/how-to-replicate-material-master-from-r3-to-srm
(But we are not clear about site attributes which needs to maintain as per the CRM Middleware Monitoring Cockpit.)
ISSUE:
Material Group gets replicated to Product Category in SRM. However, the
Product Category gets replicated with Logical System which is not
maintained in EBM

Query Regarding Default Product category set up in SRM server

HI SAp Gurus,
Plesae note that I have created one dummy product category - Test under R3MATCLASS using TC - COMM_HIERARCHY and set in the extended attribute of the root organization level.
Also done the validation in BBP_DOC_CHECK _BADI.
In SRM portal it is reflecting the text as *Please select a product category from list* in Category field as I set in SRM server.
But when I try to select "Add To Shopping Cart" Button it displays the following error messages that -
1) Enter A comapny Code
2) Enter a unit of measure
3) Plant for follow-on document missing
4) System FCSCLNT110 of purch. organization M&S Purchasing Organisation differs from doc. reference FSSCLNT480
5) Error in account assignment for item 1
6) Error calling META BAPI META_CALCULATE_TAX
7) Not possible to calculate tax
8) Error occurred calling META_BAPI_DISPATCH
9) The cost center has not been assigned in the account assignment
When I select the valid product category which is replicated to SRM from ECC , it does not display any error message.
I think the dummy product category - Test which I have created directly in SRM is creating the problem . and displays an error message-
System FCSCLNT110 of purch. organization M&S Purchasing Organisation differs from doc. reference FSSCLNT480
I have also check that when i click Add to Shopping Cart Button - The item_check Badi is also triggered . When I set up the break point there for debugging purpose its not triggeing and coming up with the above error messages.

I confirm that have successfully created the dummy product Category at SRM server and maintained in the extended attribute tab at the root organization level.
Bu the new problem raised - a warning message - No authorization to purchase from product category - Test
For that in PFCG TC we are setting up the autorization level as Low for Startegic Purchasing Role.
But even then the great problem is - when i click add to shopping cart button the line item is not created in step 2, since I have selected the dummy product category not the one which is replicated from backend. Otherwise if i select the one which is replicated from ECC its showing me the one line item in the next screen.
Can any one please advice.

Product Category Hierarchy - SRM

I have doubts on Product Category hierarchy....
1) As far as i understand whenever we replicate the material from Backend R/3 there is a product hiearachy created and assigned automatically. However, we also have the option of creating local hiearachies.
So, what i did was for the same product category i assigned two hierarchies. One the standard R3MATCLASS and other which i created manually in SRM. Then i assigned the two hierarchies while creating the material manually in SRM. However, i am not able to get the significance of this? Why has SAP provided this provision of having multiple hieararchies?
2) I read from the help portal in SAP that Product Hierarchy helps in determining the source of supply. I am not able to understand how that is possible. I have searched for documentation all around but could not find any?
3) In one of the forums i saw that one consultant activated the product hiearachy, then to his surprise the automatic sourcing configuration which he had done has not worked due to activation of hierarchies
Has anyone worked indepth in this field. Any inputs is greatly welcome as i am doing some indepth work on this

SRM product category contract using MDM retrurns contract with item 0

We are using SRM 5 with MDM catalog 7.1 using Ext classic scenario.
We've created more than 1 SRM contract for the same product category in SRM, eg. 2 contracts both for prod category STATIONERY with 2 different vendors (eg. vendor 1213, contract 44000330 item 1 and vendor 2456 contract 44000999 item 1). In the MDM catalog we reference 1 of these contracts/items, eg vendor 1213, contract 44000330 item 1.
When we select this item from MDM catalog it pulls in the vendor and the contract number, eg vendor 1213, contract 44000330, but the contract item is shown as item 0 (contract 44000330 / 0).
If however, we have only one contract for a product category, eg. TRAINING and we enter this contract/item in MDM, when we select that item from the catalog it copies the vendor and the contract along with the correct contract item number, eg. contract 44000661 / 1.
Any ideas why it is doing this? Cannot find any SAP notes or other postings on SDN with this problem.

The issue is when we have more than one contract for the same product category. Both or only one of those contracts might be assigned to items in the MDM catalog. The catalog has the correct contract, AND the correct item number against the catalog item.eg. contract 123456 / item 1
If there is only one contract then there is no problem and the correct contract AND item number is copied back into the shopping cart, eg. 123456 / 1. Only when there is more than one contract for the product category does MDM pass back contract item 0 eg. 123456 / 0
We're not loading via XI. We're loading from a spreadsheet.
Any more ideas?

SRM product category replication issue

Hi,
I am trying to replicate the product category from ECC to SRM
I have run the R3AS, but no success,
In SRM SMQ2 no entry created
In ECC SMQ1 no entry created
In R3AM1 "DNL_CUST_PROD1" is running status, not changing to green
I also found that
In R3AM1 DNL_CUST_BASIS3 also running and both the status is block
Please help to resolve status.

Hello Roy,
Kindly follow the below steps to resolve the issue here.
1) Maintain the table TBLSYSDEST in both SRM and ERP system with regards to the logical system and Technical and Dialog rfc's.
Also assign the MW_admin in the rfc user.Register the queues with * smqr.
2) Follow the sap note 720819 and maintain all the 5 tables correctly.
3) Before you start the download, you must use transaction SE38 to execute the report BBP_PRODUCT_SETTINGS_MW in the EBP system. In the 'User' field, enter the consumer name that you selected (for example, "SRM").
Select the radio button depending on whether service products should be active or not. The report starts with the default settings in test mode.
4) Ensure that the table CRMATAB in ERP system holds the entries after the step 1. IF it is blank then follow the sap note 1498111 and run the report SMOF_FILL_CRMATAB in SRM.
5) Also check for the R3-Guid in the tables CRMMLSGUID (SRM system) and CRMPRLS (ERP system ). Both should be identical with the logical system.
Kindly abort and load the object again, it should work fine.
Also to replicate the new material groups, you need to trigger the delta load.

How Product category contract replicate from SRM to ECC?

     I work with SRM 7.0.   I have reliazed that contract with product ID replicated to ECC , it is a standar way.   But the contract without Product ID ,only product category and description    cann't be replicated to ECC.    why?   how I do ?

I made e some change in ECC . and the error info is "Combination item category W /account assignment category U not defined" in BD87 .
     item category 'W' is material group in ECC.
how will i do ?

     I made the setting in ECC to permit 'Combination item category W /account assignment category U', and the contract can reach the ECC.    in ECC, the contract item category is 'W' (material group).      actually, in ECC ,material group contract can be created wihtout 'W'.    the MM consultant also don't except 'W' as item category, should as empty.   Will I do some change in SRM . how to do ?

     By testing, I found the situation:
    when creating contract, in item, if I select Item Category as 'Product Category' , then I can't input 'Product ID' ,'Unit', 'Price', etc.   I can only input main info such as 'Target Quantity' 'Target Value' etc.
     when the contract is generated in ECC.     the item category is 'W' , Target Quantity is empty, Price is empty, the Target value that is input in SRM    is disapeared,   in other words, this kind of contract don't have price (value) .
      is it normal?
      my business expect it is like with product ID. can this be realized?
