Product category + Purchasing group mapping

Hello all,
I am looking for a way of finding how each product category is mapped to different purchasing groups. I have the GL acct to Prod category mapping already, but nothing which would give me the purchasing group.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Note: I currently cannot run FMs in the PROD system, but if thats the way, then so be it.

In the Organization structure ( pposa_bbp) pruchasing group org.unit check the Responibility tab
Product category responsibility & Organizationl responsibility..
Here we can assign product categories to the pur.group.

Purchasing group determination in Shopping cart

Hi All,
when I am creating Shopping cart and choose Free Text Describe what you want and then I find that Purchasing group filed at item data tab is not available.
But when I am selecting select goods/service and choose Product Id then shopping cart is determining back end purchasing group and purchasing group field is shown at Item data tab.
why SC is not showing Purchasing group field for free text items.
Can any one has this similar issue in your system.
I am on SRM7.01 Extended classic scenario.

If I choose the one material for the same product category in SC , it is picking back end purchasing group.
But If i am choosing free text item and selects the same product category , Purchasing group field, it self is not showing in SC.
I wonder, if I create a Local purchase group, and create a free Text SC for the same product categoy, it is picking local Purchaing group.

you might seen Purchase grouph , in this purchase group you might seen relationship tab
here you mentio product category.
so whenevr users create a shopping cart w.r.t product category, the basis data shows as product category w.r.t purchase group

GL account based on the 'commodity mobde' (product category)

The requirement is
System shall default the GL Account with sequence number u201801u2019 when there are multiple GL Accounts mapped to a Product Category and the mapping table needs to have u2018Sequence numberu2019 added to ensure that in case of u2018Many-to-Oneu2019 the default proposed GL Account can be selected.
           Requester will be allowed to change the u201CGL Accountu2019 to a different value.
           The system will show the allowed u2018GL Accountsu2019 that are mapped to this product Category when performing the search ( Narrow down only to allowed values ).

Upload Product Category for Purchasing Group

Hi,
I have 30000 product categories for 10 Purchasing groups.
Each Purchasing group is linked to about 10000 product categories.
How do I upload this relationship to the SRM org. structure (Purchasing Group --> Responsibility) through (standard SRM) program?

There is not std program to upload this relationship.You need to maintain tis relationship manually in transcn PPOMA_BBP under the responsibility tab..

Report showing purchasing group and product responsibility

Hi,
Is there a report that will show all purchasing groups and which product categories that they are responsible for?
Or
Is there a report that will give me each product category and which purchasing groups that are responsible for that product category?

Puroduct Category, Object Id, Purchase Group Tables of Org Structure

Hi Experts,
We have so 1000s of Purchase Group and Hundreds of Product Category and so many Organization units. We want to know who is responsible buyer(s) for a particular Product Category and Object Id. Going through Org Structure (PPOSA_BBP) through each and every Purchase Group and finding the Product Category is the laborious one. So can any one tel me the easy way to find out responsible buyer like going through tables or any other method.

Product Category and GL account mapping

We are using SRM 4.0 with ECS scenario.
Would like to know, whether the Product Category and GL account mapping we do in SPRO is restricts the user to use the same GL account mapped against the product category or it is just a defalut and can it be changed while making PO or SC.

This is standard SAP functionality.
The same GL account mapped against the product category, is just a default and it can be changed while making PO or SC. This is not hardcode as such. We emphasize here that we should follow the same GL account and Material Group combination as determined in R/3, the same combination GL and Product caategory needs to be made in SRM as well. (Since finally the PO will get created in r/3, where all the same validation will take place, at the creation of PO from SRM).
 The table which holds the data for
"Define G/L Account for Prod Cat and A/C Assignment Cat" is BBP_DET_ACCOUNT and it holds data in similar manner.
1. Either using the SPRO path
SPRO-> Account Assignment -> Define G/L Account for Prod Cat and A/C Assignment Categories
2. Or using SM30 transaction for the table - BBP_DET_ACCOUNT table
3. Use BADI - BP_DETERMINE_ACCT -> To change GL accordingly as per your logic.
The SRM G/L account is working on a linkage between product category and account category (cost center, project, asset...) that give you the default G/L account. If this very simple equation does not fit your requirement, you can use badi BBP_DETERMINE_ACCT to implement your own equation.

GL Account/Product category mapping not working in transported client

We have implemented SRM 5 and an Ecc 6.0 backend.
We have transported the GL Account /Product category mapping config from the DEV client to the Quality client. In the quality client we run BDLS to set the correct backend system for the GL account/product category mapping.
When we create a shopping cart, GL accounts are not determined. We have noticed that in table BBP_DET_ACCOUNT, the backend system is still pointing to the DEV client backend system not the quality client backend system. Why is this?
Do we have to always manually reset this config in every client that we transport this table if we have new or changed entries?

No authorization to purchase from product category

Hi
I am trying to add an item to the shopping cart. When I press "Add to Shopping cart" the following warning message came.
No authorization to purchase from product category 'Raw Materials'.
How should I assign this authorization to my user name(I have all the admin privilages).

In the transaction PFCG, for the role of Startegic purchaser,under the Personalization tab,set the attribute BBP_WFL_SECURITY to '4'.Also,check the authorisation data for the Strategic purchaser role.
Check by giving SAP_ALL access to the user for time being.

No authorization to purchase from product category X

Hello,
when I click on shop and select the product (relicated from BE), while adding this item to SC got the error 'No authorization to purchase from product category xxx', but for the same material and product category I can create a free form SC or PO (through process purchase order) or a contract. I have assigned the rite Product categories to user and PGRP. pls let me know if you have seem this message before?

Show Material Group Long Description in SRM Product Category ?

Hi,
We have entered Short and Long Decriptions for Material Groups in R/3 and we have run the replication too. We want to show the Long Description of the Product Category to the users on the web screens.
We know there is a setting in SRM to do this but we don't know what it is.
Please let me know if any one has idea.

Update Purchasing group directly in production system

Hi,
We keep getting purchasing group changes requests and we follow conventional approach, configure in development - move to Quality and then to Production.
Since we have high number of requests, we are exploring the direct maintenance in Production system. Please advise on the best approach to this.

there is an alternative missing.
you can change a customizing activity to be a master data activity, and you do not need to have the PRODuction system open for customizing..
this is explained in OSS Note 135028 - Transfer IMG activity to current setting
However, I have made my experience in the past as I joined my current employer. In this system the purchasing groups were maintained in production system, which I did not know, and some key user did not know too, as they asked me to add a new purchasing group. I did this in the development system and transported to prouction.
And it happened, that I added a purchasing group in developement that was already accopied in production, so the entry in production got overwritten with my transport. so for a couple of days 2 buyers worked with the same purchasing group, they did not even realize it, as nobody is really looking at a PO form if a system is live for many years. This caused some trouble with statistics and as well with communications between vendors and us.
a second experience was made by the fact that people had deleted purchasing groups, after buyers had left the company. But SAP validates the existing of purchasing groups when archiving purchase orders. So I had to recreate all deleted purchasing groups before I could continue with archving.
I think that this experience is reason enough to not give this customizing activity into user hands.
