Product for Generating Dynamic Forms

Hi,
Adobe has a myriad of products. Which product is suitable to create dynamic PDF forms, downloadable to client (not necessary to integrate with browser). The "dynamicity" of the forms are dependent on questions answered by the user - which in all likelihood would be better asked "outside" the Adobe form. In other words, generate a PDF Form for entry using Adobe technology in conjunction with a web technology like ASP, Java or other?

Stars, snowflakes? A database for Data Warehouse with facts and measures connected in a star/snowflake like schema? It remains a database. And SSIS already has stock components for processing DW as SSAS Cube processing, merging data, lookups, you name it.
They are graphical.
You can achieve all this by just using SSIS which is tailored exactly to doing that.
The rest, if there is a gap, there are third party components available for as BIML http://varigence.com/Products/Biml/Capabilities that can automate things and take away the routine.

LiveCycle Designer comes bundled with Acrobat X Pro. It can be used for this purpose I believe. So you might want to hold off from upgrading to Acrobat XI. I'd recommend posting more details about what you are wanting to do here to confirm:

Generating Dynamic form from static context.

Hi All
I have static context node structure
Section (Node)
QuestionText (Attribute)
AnsText (Attribute)
I have populated the values in this node from an RFC in my code .
Now i need to create a form dynamically with QuestionText as labels and AnsText as input fields.
I have written the following code
for(int i = 0; i< wdContext.nodeSection().getSize; i++)
IWDInputField inp_Ans = (IWDInputField)view.createElement(IWDInputField.class,"ID"+i);
IWDAttributeInfo ansAtrib = wdContext.nodeSection().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("AnsText");
inp_Ans.bindValue(ansAtrib);
This way i have bound a single attribute to all inputfields.
So the value in the first element of AnsText appears in all inputfields.
In case of tables it works fine but i need to create the form.
Kindly help me in solving the issue.

It is not possible to bind UI elements against node elements, only inside context-driven UI elements like Table, RowRepeater etc.
What you can do is
- use a RowRepeater, or
- create separate context attributes instead of node elements and bind the programmatically created Label and InputField elements to these attributes

SAP Smartform Timeout Dump in Production for the invoice form

Hi Friends,
I am working on Invoice Smartform. It is working fine when it is having avg line items. where as in my case one invoice iss having more than 500 line items in production. For this in production it is giving timeout short dump.
In that invoice i am displaying standard fuctionality of invoice form and at the same tim i am displaying Serial Numbers based on delivery and Open Quantity based on Order. So it will take time for back processing.
Insted of Back ground processing is there any other possibility to solve this. If not Please give me some steps how to implement this form in background based on conditions (if it is having more than 200 line items then only i need to run in background else foreground)

Pls provide more details like SP level , Kernel level etc.
I can see two probable reasons:
Incorrect installtion of GUI , pls try reinstalling the GUI and then try
Kernel upgrade but this solely depends on the current level and defer for further investigation.

What is the right product for the electronic form?

I need your help to choose an Adobe product.
I need a product that I create an electronic form as a purchase order and when necessary, open the source file, fill the fields and saved in electronic format with the fields filled. What Adobe product does that?
I do not need a product to the customer, is for internal company use.

Is there an Adobe product for creating fillable forms with the answers that will automatically populate a document?

I am trying to create a template of questions with fillable fields of answers that would be supplied by the reader. These answers would then automatically populate a document for the user. Does Adobe have a product that will do this?

Photoshop can import PDF files and you can draw anything you want on them. I'm sure you could make a professional looking result, though it may take more time than you want. You might want to describe a bit more about what you're doing on one of the Photoshop forums and see if people there think it's a good fit.

Install a customer font - dynamic form design

Hi all,
we set the parameter gs_docparams-dynamic mit abap_true for generating the form, beause we locate some form objects dynamically. Now we need to embed our customer font other licenses (for the dynamic form design).
So, we installed the font (for dynamic design) on the ADS, but it is still the same problem, that the font is not embedded in the PDF.
Should the font be installed on the ADS and the client?
Do somebody have install instructions? ...or other ideas?

Hi,
What ever font you installed in ADS, Same font you need to install in your Desktop/Laptop where you are designing form.
Once the fonts are installed, they are visible in your form and you can include the fonts in the form.
Note: After Installing the font in ADS, you need to restart the ADS Service(Normally basis people will do this)

Depends on what sort of server side processing you're going
to be using for
your dynamic form...

Extracting data from dynamic forms

I am new to using Livecycle and see the advantages of using dynamic forms for collecting data. I have designed several dynamic forms which include rows with 6 to 9 text fields and may be completed with 10 to 100 rows. I have had to use text fields for collecting numeric information as many of the references start with zeros (003456).
Whilst Acrobat Pro provides for Livecycle dynamic forms to be enabled for Acrobat Reader filling and saving is extracting to Excel the best option available if you do not have the Enerprise version of Livecycle?
One problem I have in using Excel is that whilst the completed PDF documents capture the leading zeros, when I view the Excel spreadsheet the lead zeros have been lost. I have experienced this problem in importing Excel files into Access. To overcome this I usually create five lead rows with characters in all the fields that I want Excel to define as text - otherwise it processes them as numerics.
Any better ways of extracting data from a hundred or so dynamic forms?

Hi,
your problem is not the exported data, it's Excel that drops the leading zeros by default.
You can use a custom pattern to keep the leading zeros.
0#### will display intergers with up to 5 places with a leading zero.

Dynamic Form Print Dialog Presets

For a Dynamic form, is it possible to define the Print Dialog Preset for Page Scaling?
In Acrobat, the option (File > Properties > Advanced ) is disabled for Dynamic forms, and there doesn't seem to be a way of setting it in Designer.
Is there some way to trick it (i.e. by setting it in some xml in the xdp that is not documented)?
It's a real pain having dynamic forms that get shrunk when printed.....

Yes, it is not a pretty (or complete) solution!!
I don't think you can disable the File/Print or Control+P (nor would you want to). In Acroforms you can set the print parameters, but as far as I know you cannot do this in LC Designer XFA forms.
This probably is not going to help you but in any one session after the user prints using the button and then subsequently goes File/Print or Control+P, then Acrobat will "remember" the "no scaling".
Some of our multi page forms are split into sections, so to encourage users to use the print button we have buttons in each section, which are set to print that section only (this is useful to the user 'cause they do not need to work this out). If the user wants all of the document, they can click the radio button in the print dialogue.We also colour the print buttons green (with white captions) as a positive / go colour.
Someone else may have a more elegant / efficient solution that sets the print parameters on opening the form or prePrint.

Broken Delete button in Dynamic Form. For the ADDT gurus!

I have a feeling i may be at Günter's mercy on this one. Hope you have time to look at this; of course for any and all, the same applies!
I have a dynamic list which i spent quite a lot of time with - rearranging elements within the ADDT generated KT_tng table. Just moving one recordset piece can take up to 30 seconds, so it takes QUITE a while with a lot of data to move.
Anyways, i seem to have "broken" the delete button in mine. I hope someone can help me fix it, i really dont have time to redo all the changes i did to the dynamic list layout. (i did test as i went to make sure i didnt break it, but guess i just missed a piece..) I changed mainly the location of things, and CSS.
I have an older version where the delete button works. I have compared but cannot find the answer. Both versions do everything else, live, with the database & their respective dynamic forms.
I have all 4 files live, and unprotected, for now, and txt versions of all four. If you need to test anything with the live pages, its ok, most of the data is dummy data.
Ive been saturated in ADDT dynamic lists, and dont have a background of hand coder, but am learning a lot, quick. so i have tried hard to understand this exact issue i created - im not looking for others to do my work. just my little disclaimer :)

Hi,
Yes it can be implemented by using scripts.
Here you can do the hide and visible things and once the field is binded in the interactive form that do not change.
We can utilize the context node elements only once we can put into interactiveform only . we can not use as dynamically as Context attributes.
