Using student guides to walk through an implementation vs. using online documentation

Hello,
I am a student, my experience in the field is limited, but I personally feel that the student guides are far easier to understand and grasp than many pieces of online documentation located on Cisco's website. But now there is a trend not to create student PDFs for student guides. So I wanted to get some feedback as to how people feel about this issue.
My feeling is that you can't use physical books in the field to implement projects its just too inconvenient to carry all those books and they are not searchable. Also the online resources on Cisco's website don't read anything like the student guides. The student guides tend to group similar information together and they tend to highlight information with a power point feel to them. They also tend to be written in a more easy to read manner.
But again if you don't have a digital copy however well its written doesn't really matter because you won't be using it.

Re your interest in purchasing the student guides that go with Cisco training courses, especially for specialist exams: You are right, they are not currently available for purchase separately from the training, however, we have forwarded your request to the Cisco learning people. No promises at this point, but we will check in periodically with them. Seems like a good idea.

Where can I find an official online documentation for JSP?

I'd like a JSP documentation like the one PHP has. Does JSP official online documentation exist? if so, what's the link?

What exactly do you need to know? JSP is just a bridge between HTML and Java. All you need to know is, yes, HTML and Java.
Here at Sun.com you can find API documentation of the standard Java SDK.

Go to 'service.sap.com' - SAP support portal (link) - Downloads (tab) - Business Objects Downloads (sub tab) - Search for the catagory you want and select the appropriate documentation.
Remember, you would find all the installation files + documentations here. Select only what you want to minimize the download time.

Which user is supposed to install the online documentation?

Hi -
I am trying to install the online documentation (post install step of solution manager). I am logged in as sap* and have run transaction SR13, but after entering in the values for variant, platform, area, path and language, I try to save the data, but SAP Gui tells me that "No changes for user SAP* allowed" "Changes cannot be made, display user only". (Message no. TR026)
Is there another user that I should be using for this?

Where can I found online documentation for CC&B products and its components (MWM, BI, etc.).

You do not mention which version of CC&B you are using. If you are using a version v1.n.n then use workflow. If you are using v2 then you may wish to look at Case processing. The online documentation is very comprehensive for workflow. If you are processing market messaging then look at "The big Picture of XML Integration" to cover the receiving and sending of market messages. Understand the concept of staging tables particularly the staging control table, upload staging and Notification Upload staging (NUS) tables for inbound messages and Notification download staging table for outbound messages. For batch jobs for workflow look at WFPRINIT and WFET. There is a section in the online documentation for "background processes". It will also give you info on scheduling as well. The CC&B online doco is extremely good, you just have to invest time in reading it. It often take some effort to get the whole picture but it is all there.

I have installed Solman 4.0 successfully and downloaded all the online documentation. How do I configure the SAP Gui to display online documents upon pushing F1?
I could not find any guides or documents to help me with this.

Just add a new entry there, Since you have downloaded i think you will need to add an entry in PlainHTMLHELP, that's it.

just a hint for the people at Sun: access to the online documentation http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/comp.app#hic doesn't work
any more. Searching for single documents still works, but the entry point isn't accessible.
I'm trying to access the site from Germany, may be it's a regional problem.

Must be a regional problem. In the US, I can see the documentation by expanding the documentation tree like this

FM to get product guid from serial no.

Hi,
I have serial number of a product. I want to get the product guid. Is there any FM for this. I can get the product guid from serial no from this table by select statement but I was searching for any FM which I can use it directly.

Hi Khalid,
The FM COM_PRODUCT_GUID_GET does not take serial number as input. I found the FM which I was looking for CRM_BSP_COMP_SEARCH. Anyways, thanks for your help.

I found some documentation at:

However, the documentation is for 8i and I am using 9i. Does anyone know if there is more up-to-date documentation? (Maybe nothing has changed significantly betweent the two versions in terms of SQL functionality....)
