Product #: H5Q13AA#ABA, bad driver for hp DVD A DS8A9SH SATA CdRom Device

Hello, my HP Pavilion 23 (Product #: H5Q13AA#ABA) suddenly had its DVD/CD Rom stop working.
It is an hp DVD A DS8A9SH SATA CdRom Device.  I have tried uninstalling the driver and using the HP Troubleshooting tool.  Nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?  The drive is acting normally, aside from the computer not recognizing it (the disc spins when you put it in, etc).
I'm running Windows 8.1 with everything up to date.
When I try to update the driver, Windows says it is up to date.  It is giving me this error message in device manager:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Thanks in advance!

  • HT3986 Windows installation asks to insert a driver for CD/DVD

When the installation of Windows 7 starts it asks for a driver for CD/DVD player. Can't find it on the drivers apple provided on my USB stick (downloaded with boot camp). How can I fix this?
    Thanks in advance

I had this problem, and as you have probably found yourself, if you keep trying it eventually works. By 'works', I mean that you get to a window showing the partitions on the disc, but stating that the Bootcamp partition is not correctly formatted (NTFS). On my system (MacOS LIon) this is dealt with by the Bootcamp documentation, and you click on a link to get the option to format the partition ... and then it is (relatively) plain sailing.

  • OS 9 Driver for retrofitted DVD drive

    Hello,
I have a dual CPU 533 mhz G4 with OS 10.4.10 installed. It will run classic mode and will also boot from OS 9.2.2, which is still on the hard disk.
The machine has been retrofitted with a "Super Drive," possibly made by Pioneer. It reads and writes CDs and DVDs. "About this computer" won't give me the name of a manufacturer.
The DVD drive works fine in OS X. Classic and OS 9 won't recognize it, though, presumably because OS 9 needs a driver for it.
I want to run an application that won't work unless Classic or OS 9 recognizes the drive and finds the CD mounted on the desktop.
What are my chances of finding a driver for the DVD drive and successfully installing it? How would I identify the right driver if I don't know the manufacturer of the drive?
I thought about making a disk image of the CD, in OS X, then using that in place of the CD in OS 9 or classic. I couldn't figure out how to make an image, though. Disk Utility in OS X doesn't seem to have that ability. I might have an OS 9 utility that could do it, but OS 9 can't see the drive.
Is that likely to succeed? If so, how to do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tim

    Hey folks,
Sorry about the late reply. I hope it gets noticed, somehow.
"About this Mac" shows the following information about the drive:
    ATAPI DVD DD 2X16X4X16:
    Model: ATAPI DVD DD 2X16X4X16
    Revision: G7Z9
    Serial Number: 99B5C1520144445601SP
    Detachable Drive: No
    Protocol: ATAPI
    Unit Number: 0
    Socket Type: Internal
The markings on the front of the drive drawer are strictly generic. I haven't removed it from the case, yet. That's sort of a hassle.
Does this give any clues about how to ID the drive?
Come to think of it, I don't really remember where this drive came from.
Don Archibald wrote that the following items should appear in the OS 9 system folder.
    •Extensions Manager -
    Apple CD/DVD Driver
    •Extensions folder -
    Apple Photo Access
    Audio CD Access
    Foreign File Access
    ISO 9660 File Access
    UDF Volume Access
All are absent. I guess that would explain the problem.
I'll try to find these files and install them. I'll get back to you if it doesn't work.
    Thanks a bunch.

  • Twist - Bad Driver for WAN Miniport?

Just picked up a new Twist s230u.  Under the Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation point warning about a bad driver for the WAN miniport.  Is this regarding the SIM card slot in the back left behind the SD card slot?  Is there a driver update available somewhere?  I've run all the Windows updates.  I tried searching these forums but did not find a solution.  Thanks.

    Hi, RedV
I've seen this issue before and have helped a few users with it. The steps to removing this issue can be found here. For your convenience, the steps are also listed below:
Open the Start menu and type Device Manager into the search box.
    Open Device Manager.
Right-click on the WAN miniport device.
    Select Update Driver Software...
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Uncheck the box Show comptatible devices
Pick any driver from within here. (As long as Windows installs a driver, the problem can be removed. I recommend a Bluetooth driver just for simplicity.)
Click OK at the warnings that are likely to pop up. These are just notifying you that this driver is not compatible with the WAN hardware.
Eventually the driver should install. Once it does, right-click on the device again and select Uninstall.
The problem should now go away and this error will not appear in Device Manager anymore.
    Best of luck,
    Adam

  • Need Vista driver for CD/DVD SuperMulti Drive PA3761

    Hi there,
    hoping you can help me.
I've just purchased an external CD/DVD drive - PA3761 - the SuperMulti Drive.
When first connected to my PC - running VISTA - the computer searched for drivers to install and then came back with the message - no drivers found please install.
Looking at the Toshiba website I can't seem to find any reference to this product or drivers for it.
    Can anyone please help?
    thanks,
    Justin

    hi JWestcott,
seems to be that there is no driver for vista available....
go to the device manager and find out which device code (dev_yyy&pid_yyy) is shown maybe you can search for...
there might be a generic driver for the usb chipset....
try the downloadpage for other countries as well....

  • Satellite A200 - Need driver for CD/DVD drive

    Hey folks.
Recently installed WXP Pro on my A200 PSAEC laptop, so I'm now dual booting XP and Vista on my laptop.
Problem is, I've got all the drivers working on XP and everything's running perfect, but when I tried to burn a DVD, Nero says the recorder can't burn DVDs. In "My Computer" the drive shows as a DVD-RW drive, but when I insert a blank DVD, it says CD Drive. The drive shows up as "TCSDcor' CD/DVDW TC-L6#2D" in device manager. I've searched around for a driver, but can't find an exact match for that drive and there's no optical drive drivers on this Toshiba site driver section. The only thing I've found is an executable file for upgrading the firmware, but it throws an error saying it's the wrong drive.
    Anyone got any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi
Toshiba European driver page provides three different firmware updates for Satellite A200 PSAEC series:
    TO02 for CD/DVD drive TS-L632
    TO02 - for CD/DVD drive TS-L632P
(This firmware solves some problems of the optical disc drive.)
    TO03 - for CD/DVD drive TS-L632H
(This firmware solves some problems of the optical disc drive.)
Im not quite sure what TO0$ means but I think the sign $ is only a free variable parameter (place marker).
If you want to check your current firmware then you could check it using the Nero Info Tool

  • Bad Driver for Model J6N60AV - Broadcom Wireless, bluetooth, SP68429

I recently purchased this HP700qe.   I always make sure that I have all drivers for a machine archived away before doing anything with the machine.
I have downloaded the file SP69429.EXE
When attempting to extract the contents, it asks for the destination folder.   After selecting to extract to the default folder, the gauge appears and starts to populate, then the app crashes.   No documents appear in the default directory
    C:\SWSETUP\SP68429
I have searched a great deal but can not find seem to source the driver from any other location.  Broadcomm states to go to the vendor.
I found no other way to report this issue than the public member support forums.   This is a poor situation.   It reflects badly upon HP as a corporate entity selling to the public.
I hope to see two things.   1) A driver that extracts correctly.  2) a better method for communications between new customers with real issues and support.
    I know, keep dreaming.

    Hi:
Since you are aware that this is a peer to peer forum, no one from HP will respond on behalf of the company.
I do not work for or represent HP, but I have reported this problem through the forum administrators to please contact the department responsible for releasing drivers.
I tried by various other means to extract the contents from the file, and it absolutely will not work.
If there is a pressing reason you need a driver for that card right away, you should be able to use this slightly older one...

HP does have support for PC's under warranty, and you can contact HP technical support for the country you live in at the link below...where you could have reported the problem as well, rather than presuming that HP lacks a method for communications between new customers with real issues and support.

  • Driver for lightscribe DVD

Where can I find drivers for HP DVD-RW drive ?
While booting the system show it is loading ahci dirver.
Install asked for language and keyboard setting and then asks for driver for CD driver.
The DVD-RW drive didn't work for any of the BIOS sata emulation modes: "legacy IDE", "native IDE", or "RAID".

Well, if the drive is good, then try a different SATA port.  It might be that the OS is looking for the drive per the BIOS and it is not on the SATA 0 port. BTW: Does this motherboard have 6GB SATA ports?  Do not use them for DVD drive.

  • No space on C Drive for ripped DVD's :(

So, last night I decided to download the Videora IPod converter and their DVD Decryptor software. Everything was going great...it seemed like an easy process...BUT right before my DVD got decrypted (I used the cheap version of Titanic on dvd that came out before the Special Edition - the whole movie was on one disc) it said the capacity of that file would be over 55 MILLION kb. And we only have 26 some odd million left on our hard drive! I was seriously shocked...and dissapointed because I've really wanted to be able to use the IPod's video feature. Can someone please tell me if there's a way around using up so much space on your hard drive? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

    Buy new hard drive.
250GB for ~$50 at CompUSA last week.
DVDs are between 4.5 & 9 GB each.
If you don't have enough space for one DVD, you have too little.
Generally, you should have at least 10-15% free space for the OS to work at it's best. If you have a 100GB hard drive, you should have 10-15GB free.

  • EMac Combo drive for a DVD burner ( superdrive)

Hi . I have purchased a used eMac 1 ghz . it has a stock combo drive . i burn a lot of DVDs .I have a external plextor DVD burner ( super drive ) and i was woundering if it would fit in the eMac ? do i need to remove the little bezel at the end of the tray ? I have always owned a older Slower G3 type mac , this will be my fastest mac i would ever have . So i want to be happy with it .
    Thank you kindly

I guess burning to external is not so bad . i have been haveing problems when OSX tryed to verifi the burn and it fails so i though putting it into the computer would resolve that . I will keep the burner in the external case if it means i have to take the top off the optical drive itself .

Turns out there is a firmware update to that drive. Maybe it helps.

You can reinstall the driver by uninstalling it in Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and rebooting.

    TOSHIBA SATELITE M45-S269

The optical drive is supported natively in Windows XP.
Double-click it in Device Manager and tell us what Device status has. It's on the General tab of the Properties box.
