Product Hierarchies in COPA

Folks,
I'm trying to figure out how to configure the product hierarchies in CO-PA in ECC 6.0 version. I saw an OSS note -62690- that talks about an "automated" solution for the more current releases. However, it doesn't give specifics around how it works.
Could someone please explain how it works step by step. I also keep getting this information message that says :
Product hierarchy field PAPH1 cannot be adapted to the new structure Message no. KE691
When I try to add the hierarchy characteristics from Table MARA, (like PAPH1, PAPH2 etc.), I realize that they are not available anymore. What could be causing this problem? Any ideas on a solution?

Hi Maruthi,
thank you for your feedback. But I don't think that answers my question. The product hierarchies are already maintained in the material master. So, I don't think they need to be maintained again using the transaction KEDE. Am I missing something here?

Product hierarchy in COPA

Hi all,
I am new to COPA. What I need to do is creating a report that is using a product hierarchy that we can define.
So I started and created a hierarchy in V/76 like we need it. Those values can now be entered into the "Prod. hierarchy" field for each material in material master - basic data 1.
Then I have created a characteristic for the field MARA-PRDHA (Product Hierarchy) in COPA and assigned it to our operating concern in COPA. Now I created a form (KE34), double clicked on a column to add a characteristic and selected my PROD HIERARCHY characteristic. Now in the window for "selected characteristics" there is a checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" so I checked that, but it says "No hierarchies exist for this characteristic".
So is this the right way to do it? How can I add product hierarchies to my COPA report, we would like to be able to "click" through the hierarchy, like starting on the highest level and clicking down.

Do not a check on checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" . Select value( Hierarchies from Definition drop down window) .

Two Product Hierarchies ?

Hi Gurus,
Kindly can any of had used two product hierarchies in same instance one for global & another for local country, if yes then hw was it maintained and what is the implications in planning & finance etc.

Same instance means same client too, right?
Actually this question should belong to CO or SD forum since product hierarchy is mainly used there.
Baseline; it is possible to maintain globally (at basic data view) and locally (at sales view) differently. Most of the data used for sales reporting, pricing, and COPA reporting will use at local. You can also do the map using derivation in COPA to obtain "global" product hieararchy.

How to use Multiple Product Hierarchies in Shopping Cart creation

Dear SRM Experts,
We have an issue in using multiple Product Hierarchies while creating a shopping cart. Need your help to resolve this.
Our SRM system is integrated with 2 ERP back-end systems. In material replication we have created 2 hierarchies for different ERPs and their product categories are stored in respective hierachies.
Example:
EBPMATCLAS is for ERP1
EBPSERVCAT is for ERP2
Now when I create shopping cart, it allows only those products which are part of EBPMATCLAS because of below configuration..
We cant configure multiple hierarchies for purchasing so we are not able to use both Hierarchies simultaneously.
Request you to help with the possible solution to use multiple hierarchies.

Hi Rajan,
You not need to create 2 hierarchy ID. Inside the R3MATCLASS you can see the reference with both banckends.
Ex:
R3MATCLASSECCCLNT001
R3MATCLASSECCCLNT002

Free goods secquence with customer hierarchie and product hierarchie

Hi guru's,
I'm currently working with a secquency for free goods with customer hierarchie ans product hierarchie, but is giving me a lot of problems of dums , I think that SAP standard doesn't allow it because the customicing is diferent than the secquence for pricing that has 2 more fields open: V_T682Z-FSTST and V_T682Z-MBWRT that could allow me to set the levels of the hierarchie. Despite it works with the same table T682Z.
Has anybody had the same problem as me? Can you help me please.

Transfering Production variances to COPA

Hi,
I have doubts about transferring Production variances to COPA.
Will this functionality work both for settlement of variances to GL Variances Account and at the same time for settlement of variances to COPA?
From my experience with cost centers and internal orders, I know that if I want to settle an Internal order both to COPA char and to GL Account, I have to make 100% overhead for the costs gathered on IO. Then I can do the settlement in both directions.
Could you please explain to me the case of Production order variances settlement? I need to have them both on GL accounts and in COPA.

At the time of settlement of production orders, FI entry also passed as well as variances are also settled to COPA
In FI, variances will be debited (assuming production order debit is more than what it is settled to Inventory at Std cost) and Inventory changes account is credited.
In COPA, depending on the variance categories like Price, qty and their assignment to value fields, this amount is transferred.
For eg, if prodn order actual costs is say 12000 and is settled to Inventory is 10000 (at std cost), and the difference is 2000 and if this difference is due to Price (800) and qty (1200).

Production Quantities in COPA

Anyone know how to transfer Production Quanties (from Production Orders) to COPA? I assume that a PA transfer structure of some kind would be needed, but I need to know the exact steps.

Transaction KEI1 Select the PA transfer structure. First click on the Assignment lines. Select the assignment relating to output and click on the check box Quantity billed/Delivered.
The PA structure used can be found in the settlement profile, which further gets assigned to the order type in the configuration.

Production variance in COPA

Hi All,
We are settling production variances to COPA and We have 3 values fields in COPA,Material Variance,production labor variance and Other variance.
Variance categories are mapped to material, labor variance and others value fields.but i dont see any labor variances in Variance value field.i have reviewed and this is becuase of Variance categories.which are not one to one mapping to value fields.
we have 9 Variance categories mapped to 3 value fields.
client requirement is labor variances to settled to Variance value field,material variance to Material value field and Overhead and other variances to settlement others value field.is this possible?if yes.how can i do this?

Hi,
As explained earlier by other forum colleagues,variances captured at production can be assigned to COPA under value field.This assignment is happening through PA transfer structure for variance settlement.
Normally this can be defined broadly into 2 categories : 1.Cost element and 2.Variance categories.
After looking at your requirement,your main interest is in cost element based production variance push to COPA for reporting.i.e.Labor variance.
Production order shows this variance under secondary cost element labor and difference between target/actual.COPA transfer structure doesn't push 2 seprate values (target/actual) ,whereas only delta gets posted.
I feel your requirement is not possible through PA transfer structure.
I would suggest,you push cost center specific labor expenses under new value field,capture cost component wise break up of standard cost udner different value field.
Comparision of cost center expense and labor part of standard cost will provide you expected value.
I know this complex thing to do,so discuss with client do they really want from COPA?
Same reporting they can get from cost cente i.e.expense posted(labor ) and absorbed on product under secondary cost element.

Production variances are genrated in COPA at the time of Prod Order Settlement.How can we display these in COPA reports apportioned according to Products

The production variances flows to copa by creating PA transfer structre in OKOA. their you have to assign value fields to variance categories.after creation of pa transfer str u have to assign it in u r settlement profile.

Hi All,
Have a material M123 -->Machine tools.but in KE30 reports,i can see only product/material M123,no description.
How can i get Product description in COPA KE30 reports?

Hi,
After executing the report
choose > 'Settings > Characteristic display' from the menu.
A dialog box appears where you can choose the option.
Change the setting to 'key and name' and the text should appear

Product group in COPA

Hi Gurus,
Can you plese let me know the procedure of creating 'Product Group' in COPA? I know this is very general question but I have no idea about this as when I went to KES1 and KEA6 I could find product Hierarchy but not prodcut group. I assume there is difference between both.

   What is the difference between KMMAKL and MATKL characteristics when they are derived from the same table and field?
Will they be displayed with different names in COPA, like one as 'Product Group' and the ohter as 'Material Group'?
   My requirement is to have 'Product Group' characteristic in the operating concern. Right now, I see product group field in Cost Center to COPA assessment segments, but i am not able to populate it with material group.
   So should I add KMMAKL or MATKL, or can I add both?

How the Trading Goods mapped in to Product costing and COPA in Controlling

Dear Experts,
I have a trading goods scenario in my client. How the mapping into Product Costing and COPA.
They just purchase FG products from Vendors and Sell to their Customers, they received FG Products to Main Plant from Vendors and then sends to Branches from Main Plant, In between some expenses accured like Transport, Fright etc. this is my scenario.
How the settings to be made in Product costing and COPA.

I believe branches are also created as Plants
You have 2 choices....
Choice 1: If the Freight amount is known @ the time of Transfer from Main plant to Branches, include the same in STO so that inventory value in Branch = Purchase Value + Freight amount
CHoice 2: If thats not possible, then inventory value in Branch will be same as the Main plant... The expenses incurred on freight needs to be posted to a cost center... Then allocate them @ month end based on revenue / Quantity sold etc using KEU5
Whichever choice you make, Product Costing is not relevant and required as well... You dont need to do any CK11N
If you want to see in COPA Purchase value separate and the Freight, etc separate - Then choice 2 is the route for you

Standard product hierarchies

CRM 5.0 Sandbox is just installed in my system. when i m trying to create a new product hierarchy , standard product hierarchies like R3PRODSTYP , R3PRODHIER are missing .
Could aye one guess what could be the wrong .

see as attributes are attached to a certain set type so that set type can be assigned to the category
as you say the standard set type is missing,then what you have to find out is that what are all attributes that are used to create that set type .
if its a standard set type then check in some other client with in the CRm ,so that you can see what are all attributes that are attached to it
using the same attributes,you have to create those attributes in your current system and then create a set type to which you can attach the attributes,now you can use this set type for your purpose.
normally standard set types cant be missing in the system,serach it all over again.
else do as i said,this is the only way to retrieve those set types which are missing.

Transfer newly created Product hierarchies from R/3 to CRM

Hi Experts,
Initial load is done and delta download is also set.
Now In R/3 New product hierarchies are created. How to move them from R/3 to CRM.
They are all stuck in SMW01.
With the following "Mapping Error"
"Category for product hierarchy 4005000501000291 does not exist
Can i manually create a Product Hierarchy in CRM or Shall i run RSA1 again by deleting the present hierarchies.
What shall i do?

If we look at the inbound queue (SMQ1).
For R3AD_MATERIA590397-515 the error is : Error in Mapping (Details: transaction SMW01)
When I go and see in SMW01 it says : Mapping Error, because of this I have created Request load and for the request load queue :
