Product Hierarchy:
Product Hierarchy is used to group the materails by combining features. It is used for analyses and pricicng. A produch hierarchy can consist of upto 18 characters. Its features can be combined in various ways, the following figure gives an example of how materials can be grouped using product hierarchy.
Product Hierarchy: Electrical Appliances(00001): 1. Dry Appliances(00001), 1.1 Electri Stoves(00000001), 1.2 Food Processors(00000002); 2. Wet Appliances(00002), 2.1 Washing Machine(00000001), 2.2 Dish washer(00000002).
In this case, a dish washer can be describered by product hierarchy 000010000200000002.
This is called as Product Hierarchy.
Assortment Module:
This is one type of Value contract using assortment module (Contract Type: WK1). Firstly we have to create Assortment Module using T.code: WSO1, and enter the group of material in the assortment module and save. and then create contract and assign the Assortment module number in the contract and enter the value and save the document. after that is same like other contract.

SQVI Report for SAP CRM Product Hierarchy and its Product

Hi
How to create a SQVI report for generating a list for SAP CRM Product Hierarchy which should show the outputs->Level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4 categories and its products?
I tried COMM_Hierarchy table and Comm_product but not able to achieve this requirement.
or Is there any chance of getting related tables so that I could try more for this requirement.
In which table both product id and its category Id can be found?

say in SAP CRM system, the product category is maintained in COMM_HIERARCHY as
Parent category Id->
                                Level2 Category Id->
                                                                 Level 3 Category Id->
Level 4 category Id ->
Product Id's
(I understood the link between Level 4 category id and product id with your info.) but not able to achieve the requirement fully.

Product hierarchies are the domain of materials management. A product hierarchy is assigned to the material master record. This hierarchy is broken down into specific levels, each level containing its own characteristics.A product hierarchy is recorded by the sequence of digits within a hierarchy number. This hierarchy number may have a maximum of 18 digits with a maximum of 9 levels. The custom Product hierarchies can be maintained in V/76. However, for complete help on your requirement, you may post it in MM Forum.

Creation of new product hierarchy and products in SAP CRM.

Dear all,
please help with resolving of following issue:
In CRM system base hierarchies were replicated from R/3 system with materials. Current requirement is to create new materials in CRM directly (as standalone scenario). As far as I understand, I have to create new hierarchy with required list of set types in order to allow creation of products in CRM directly (product type = material). Can anybody describe changes in the system step by step, what should be changed and where?
As a result I need to have a possibility to create products in CRM directly for sales scenario processing.

Here what I tried to do:
1. I created new category in hierarchy R3PRODSTYP, added 3 set types: COMM_PR_MAT, COMM_PR_SHTEXT, COMM_PR_UNIT as basic set types.
2. In the SPRO - Cross-Application Components - SAP Product - Settings for Product Type - Number Assignment - Define Number Ranges for the Product Type "Material" I found my new product category is unassigned, so I assigned it to the "CRM Products" group.
3. Farther I tried to create a new product for created category in CRM Web UI, but was not able to find it in the Base category search field. All categories correctly displayed from R3PRODSTYP, but my new category is absent. What can be the reason of category absence? Btw, it cannot be found even when I try to display whole hierarchy in Web UI, however, in SAP GUI, it can be seen via tcode comm_hierarchy.
Here is the setup of hierarchies in the system:
I have no idea how to check #3 "Ensure the hierarchy is assigned to CRM application".
Can you please suggest, what should be changed in addition? Thank you!

Product Hierarchy and creating quotations with brands - require solution

Hi,
We are using product heirarchy in our system ( its a 18 character key), the first 8 character is for the brand.
Material is created with a different character combination and the material is assigned the complete 18 character key in the material master record.
Now the requirement is that the distributor places a plan to buy a particulat brand ( not material i.e with specific colour, which he will do it at a later stage) with quantity and price, this has to be captured in the SAP.
Once the distributor's plan is approved, he will place a purchase order and Sales order gets created automoatically.
My line of thought is capture his plan in quotation and once he places orders , an sales order is created with reference to the sales order.
The challenge is how to capture brand in a quotation with price.
Can we create material master records for these brands which are used only in quotations and SO can be created with original materials ( the final finished product).
Please provide me your valuable solutions and suggestions.

Hi Hans,
We don't want to wait for until billing to update price since we have the CI created at the time of delivery not billing. CI document also needs to display correct pricing for custom purposes.
Also, we would like to keep pricing on the Sales Doc. and Billing Invoice the same. This is why we would like to trigger re-pricing on sales order. And when pricing is re-invoked, we need to re-read the PRODH data to ensure new price is retrieved.

I don't know about Product Hierarchy but if you want to send Currency codes
I believe the easiest way would be to create an raport with a select statement that would invoke an ABAP Proxy to send those codes with descriptions

Why do we use these transactions OV1Z, OV2Z, OV3Z, OV4Z and V/76.

Define Product Hierarchies
In this step, you define product hierarchies which you can use for statistical analysis or pricing, for example, or you can change their structure. The product hierarchy groups materials by combining different characteristics. Each characteristic is represented by a specific product hierarchy level.
Example
A product hierarchy can be structured as follows:
Level Example Description
1 00001 Electrical appliances
2 00002 Household appliances
3 00000003 Wet appliances
In this example, a dishwasher belongs to product hierarchy 000010000200000003.
Standard settings
In the standard system, the product hierarchy consists of up to 3 levels. The first and second levels have 5 digits and the third level has 8. The maximum number of digits is 18 and the maximum number of levels is 9.
You can define hierarchy nodes at the individual levels of the product hierarchy.
From the initial screen you can branch to the following steps:
Product hierarchy structure
In the Data Dictionary, you can change the structure of the product hierarchy (e.g. the number of levels).
Data entry/display
Here you define the display of the product hierarchy and the format of the accompanying text.
Product hierarchy
Here you define your product hierarchies.
Field catalog for pricing
Here you make fields of the product hierarchy structure available for use in pricing.
Field catalog for the Logistics Information System
Here you make fields of the product hierarchy structure available for use in the Logistics Information System.
Actions concerning the product hierarchy structure
Structuring the product hierarchy
The product hierarchy can be structured via DDIC structure PRODHS. In the standard system, a product hierarchy can be created with up to three levels. The individual levels can contain the following number of digits:
Level number of allowed digits
1 5
2 5
3 8
This can be changed as of Release 3.0, where it is possible to extend the maximum number of levels to 9.
If you want to change the standard setting of PRODHS, e.g. you want to change the number of levels, proceed as follows:
1. Create an appropriate domain in the Data Dictionary (type CHAR with the required length).
2. Assign these domains to the standard data elements PRODH1, PRODH2, ..., PRODH9.
Please note that you should use these standard data elements.
3. Change the structure PRODHS by creating or deleting fields with reference to the data elements.
Choose ZZPRODHN as field name, where n is the position of the field in the structure PRODHS.
Example
You want to change the structure of the product hierarchy from 5/5/8 digits to 5/5/5/3. Proceed as follows:
Create the following domains:
ZPRODH3 with length 5, category CHAR,
ZPRODH4 with length 3, category CHAR,
Change structure PRODHS:
Strucutre PRODHS in the standard system:

Conversion routines for INPUT/OUTPUT
The product hierarchy can be assigned to a conversion routine. The name of the conversion routine is PRODH. The output template can be defined in Customizing (see below).
The separators used in the template are not allowed for maintaining the product hierarchy nodes.
Example:
If the template is _____/_____/__________
The symbol "/" cannot be used when maintaining the product hierarchy nodes. In this case, the following entry would not be allowed: 123456/79012345678
Text concatenation
The description of a product hierarchy can be determined via concatenation, if required.
Proceed as follows:
1. Determine the node preceding the current node
2. Concatenate the description of the subsequent node with the description from the preceding node.
The text concatenation is valid for the entire product hierarchy, the concatenated text has a length of 20. Text concatenation can be activated/deactivated in Customizing (see below).
Note
Make sure during text concatenation that the text of the product hierarchy does not come from table T179T. In this case function module RV_PRODUKTHIERARCHIE_TEXT_GET is available.
Allowed symbols for product hierarchy nodes
If you have stored a template for the conversion routine, the separators in the template are not allowed.
Actions concerning data entry/display
You can make two settings regarding the layout of the product hierarchy and the format of the product hierarchy text:
1. Enter a template for displaying the product hierarchy. This template defines the length of the individual levels and the separators.
Note that the character used to separate the levels in the template cannot be used in the product hierarchy nodes.
2. The description of a product hierarchy node can be determined by concatenation if required.
If you activate text concatenation, the text for one level is added to the description of the higher level and then output. The text of the first level appears at the beginning followed by the text of the second and third levels. Text concatenation applies to the complete product hierarchy. The concatenated text can have a maximum of 20 characters.
Do not activate text concatenation if you only want to issue the description of the hierarchy levels created for these levels when the product hierarchy was defined.
Actions concerning the product hierarchy
The product hierarchy can be freely defined and include up to three levels. The SAP System checks the entry in the field product hierarchy during master data maintenance and copies it to the SD document. The separators used in the template cannot be used in the product hierarchy.
Note
Via a matchcode you can search specifically for material master records with a product hierarchy.
Analyze the product hierarchies in your organization and define their representation in the SAP System.
1. Assign a characteristic value to the individual levels of your product hierarchy: a 5-character value to levels 1 and 2, and an 8-character value to level 3. The level number is determined automatically.
A product hierarchy node encompasses a characteristic value of a maximum of 18 characters.
2. Enter a description for the product hierarchy.
Actions concerning the field catalog for pricing
The product hierarchy can be used for functions in pricing. Then the fields of the product hierarchy structure must be entered into the field catalog for pricing.
Enter the fields of the product hierarchy in the field catalog.
Actions concerning the field catalog for Logistics Controlling
The product hierarchy can be used for statistical analyses in the Logistics Information System. The fields of the product hierarchy structure must then be entered in a field catalog for the Logistics Information System.
Enter the product hierarchy in a field catalog. You can refer to field catalog 'VPHI', which displays the standard settings.

"Creation" of location product hierarchy

Hi Experts
I know that a location product hierarchy can be "generated" by combining a location hierarchy and a product hierarchy. But for our business requirement we cannot use a generated location product hierarchy. This is because we have 1000'ds of products and for each product the parent location -child locations can be different. That is for product A if parent is location L1 and children are L2 and L3 then for product B the parent can be L1 but the children can be different say L5 and L4. There can be 1000ds of location parent - children combinations like this and it is impossible to model this using a location hierarchy.
So i want to know if there is a way to directly create a location product hierarchy and manually add members to it. Please advise

Product hierarchy in the material master record

Hi,
I am handig Data migration project.
This is related to Product Hirerarchy.
I one business Product Hirerarchy have been configured. But in another buisiness, Product Hirerarchy has not been configured.
There are some common materials using by both business processes.
For coomon mateials if I am maintaining Product Hirerarchy value in the material master record, is there any impact on business which is not being used Product Hirerarchy. Whether it will stop / impact on business processes.
Can you explain plz

Thanks for your inputs.
we are meging two servers. In that in one server, product highrechy have been configuredand in another server not configured.
There are some materials with the numbers calling as a common parts exists in both servers.
ex: plat 0001 in one server 1 & plant 0002 in server2
Common part is : m1
plant 0001 not using product hierarchy and plant 0002 not using product hierarchy,.
After golive, all the common parts are being used by both plants and same basic data 1 view.
If we are maintaing product hierarchy in the basic data 1 view, it will flow into sales view as well.
Then what about impact on the plant 0001 business since it is not using product hierarchy.
In the configuration, is there any settings to activate / deactive product hierarchy at sales area level.
Is there any impact on MM / FICO side.
Please explain.

Product hierarchy V/76 - new level

Hi,
I want to create a new product hierarchy in V/76.
I click on new entries and I can enter the product hierarchy and the description, but the "Level no." is greyes out so I cannot enter anything into that field. After saving every production hierarchy row has level 1 assigned, so how can I assign the level?

There are transaction Code for viewing the Product Hierarchy and Category.
The Transaction Code is COMM_HIERARCHY. You can find the details of the entire product in the following navigation details.
SAP -->> Master Data -->> Products from the main menu.

A precise planning and controlling mechanism is of the utmost importance for the execution of competitive order processing with guaranteed efficient and timely delivery to the customer of the required order quantity. Unforseen problems, such as production deficits or increased demand can have critical consequences for order processing and must be brought under control as soon as possible.
Product allocation is a function provided by the R/3 system for carrying out these control options intended to help your company to avoid critical requirement and procurement situations. This should enable you to keep production to a minimum at the same time as allowing you to react quickly to bottlenecks and changing market situations.
