Product ID for Free Folios

We have a free app with a free subscription all set up and working properly, with one issue published so far. We are ready to publish the second issue. The app itself has a Product ID, and our Free Subscription in-app purchase as a different Product ID. I used the same Product ID for the first folio as the Free Subscription Product ID.
But today I read at http://adobe.ly/SsvLPN to "Note: Use different Product IDs for each separate folio in your app."
So, should I use a different Product ID from now on for each Folio we publish?

Longer answer: It's confusing that there are three different types of Apple Product IDs:
(1) the app Product ID, which you can ignore
(2) subscription duration Product IDs for a paid app or a single Product ID for a free subscription app
(3) a Product ID for each retail folio
When you're setting up a free subscription app, you don't need to use iTunes to create a Product ID for individual folios, because your folios are free. You just need to set up a free subscription Product ID in iTunes Connect and specify that Product ID in the DPS App Builder. On the Adobe side, you use a different Product ID for different folios you publish, such as com.publisher.publication.2012October and com.publisher.publication.2012November. If you're creating renditions, you use the same Product ID for the different renditions and different Product IDs for different sets of renditions.

Enable paywall for free folios

The social sharing feature is great; especially the ability to share to someone without an iPad.
Currently we cannot set a paywall for our magazines because they are free.
To be able to use social sharing to increase our download numbers would be just as useful to us as it is for retail folios. Bigger download numbers = happy advertisers, more advertisers and/or higher ad rates.
Please consider enabling the paywall for free folios.

Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. If still under warranty, take it in to Apple for a potnetial warranty replacement. If not, you may be able to get an out-of-warranty replacement for $149.

Product Key for Free Trail

I downloaded the free one month trial of Microsoft Office to my computer about 30 minutes ago. After installing the free trial, Office asked for a product key in order to complete set up
and I did not receive a product key. Can someone PLEASE help me find it. This is my third attempt to get help.

Custom store front for free folio

Hi there
I am actually looking into the DPS Configurator (we got DPS Entreprise license), and have only free folio.
1/ Issue is that the solio appear 0,98$. How can I set it up for free ?
2/ Is it possible to have a the same banner on top than the "entitlement banner/sing in banner" but to use this space for one of our own banner? I f yes how can it do that and delete the "sign in" options on top?

Product ID for second issue of multi viewer app

I've in this forum already found very usefull info about publishing the second issue of a free multi viewer app but still can't figure out if we have to use the same Product ID for each issue, or do we need to create a different Product ID for each issue ?
I've put two examples below, suppose one of them has to right. Or not ??
Is this the way to handle multiple issues (option 1):
product ID issue 1 = Product ID issue 2 = com.magnusmedia.magname
Or is this the right way (option 2):
product ID issue 1 = com.magnusmedia.magname.01
product ID issue 2 = com.magnusmedia.magname.02

Option 2 is working for me, hope it's right to handle it that way.
With option 1 the app crashes (dark gray screen, no folio opens, library- en scrolling buttons are available but)

Purchasing group for free text SC

Hi everyone,
We have a requirement to change the purchasing group for free text & catalog SC's. We are using SRM 7.0. Normal procedure is to select the material from catalog, purchasing group is selected & once it is approved a PO is created.
But, now the requirement is that if a user is selecting a catalog material, then the selection of purchasing group should be restricted as per the business.
And if the SC is being created from Free text, then the purchaser's selection should be restricted to very few options in drop down.
Is it possible? I was thinking if the selection of purchasers could be restricted using BADI: BBP_PGRP_ASSIGN_BADI or BBP_PGRP_FIND BADI. But, there is no option for differentiation based on SC created using Catalog & SC's created from free text.
Can anyone please help me with this.

@Muthu: I explored the tables, but the only difference I could find between the catalog & free text SC materails is that the product id is missing for free text SC. Based on this I am unsure if any BADI can be used. Kindly let me know, if the BADI's can be called on this criteria.
@ Virendra: I doubt if that, that can be solution, since the product cataegory for free text cannot be fixed. It will depend on user requirement.
Pls help me to define the purcahsing groups for free text SC's.

Empty Viewer on Test iPad for multi folio iTunes Free Subscription

I'm trying to test a free subscription, multi folio newsstand app with renditions. However, the viewer opens without any folios - just the subscription tiles. I've triple checked the Apple product IDs, shared secrets and have all of the appropriate certificates. I'm at my wit's end! A few questions:
Should free subscriptions folios be public/free or retail? I'm reading conflicting things.
I'm a little unsure of the order in which I should publish folios in the folio producer. Should this step proceed or follow creating the .ipa for testing?
Does this naming of the actual folios matter, as long as they are the same? I only need the same exact Product ID for iTunes Connect and the App Builder, correct?
I've noticed that after you enter your shared secret there is a field to enter an iTunes url in the Admin Tool. Which url do we use? Do we enter this after the folio is public?

Free subscriptions should be Public/Free, not Retail.
It doesn't matter which order you publish the folios and create the .ipa for testing. When you publish the folios as Free and Public, they should appear in your testing app if (A) you specified the shared secret, (B) published the folios as Public/Free, (C) set up your renditions/folios correctly, and (D) specified the free subscription Product ID created in iTunes Connect in the DPS App Builder.
When you set up renditions for a subscription app, the Folio Name, Product ID, and Publication Date values need to be the same for all renditions, and different for each set of renditions. Specify the Publication Date values by choosing from the calendar picker.
Yes, the iTunes URL becomes available when you publish the app.

Distribute .folio files for free

Hello, I have one question: can I share a .folio files for free (for reading with Adobe Content viewer), without having any DPS license?

Using the DPS dashboard is the appropriate way to edit and organize your folio files (https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com). If you read the official documentation is says nothing about going onto Acrobat.com workspace to edit your files --You do use your Acrobat.com signin as your inital folio builder signin and the content viewer signin. In some instances you can create problems by editing them within acrobat.com rather than the DPS dashboard. So its worth mentioning that its more of "workaround" rather than a "workflow". It is an amazing way to preview the product before purchasing it.

Using iBooks Bookstore for (free) product catalogues

Hi all
Does anyone know if there are any restrictions/exclusions for creating 'brochure/catalogue' books in iBooks Author and submitting to the Bookstore for free download? I have looked through the guidelines and cannot find anything that specifically says no or looks like it would be an issue but would rather not spend to much time with our client creating content for it to be refused!

Somehow, Apple have to make a decision as to what should be accepted into the store what should not. I suspect that things such as product catalogs probably wouldn't make it into the store. Too close to advertising, for one, and probably not of interest to the general public. Basically, if you can see a normal book store putting your publication on the shelf, then you have something that potentially would be appropriate for the iBookstore. If you don't think a paper book store would put the catalog on the shelf, I suspect Apple won't either.
