Product key Activation after Recovery reinstall on HP notebook

Recently ran a recovery install on my hp notebook to resolve some persistent bugs. New install works great and windows update has downloaded 100's of updates to bring me current. Started to get a Genuine Windows warning pop up and checked the Computer Properties page. Page says that my W7 Home Premium is successfully activated but the product key is showing an OEM code and not the 25 char key on the underside sticker. This W7 HmPrem came preinstalled by hp and I used their RecoveryManager D:\ partition to reinstall. There is no 'Change Product Key' hyperlink on the Computer Properties page.
How can I change the Product key?

MS Project 2010 Product Key Activation Error

Hello,
Our company purchased a version of MS Project 2010 a few years ago and it was installed on a laptop in our office and was working without any issues. However, that laptop recently had a virus issue and it needed to be completely cleaned off and rebuilt.
So now I am reinstalling all the software that was on that laptop. When I try to install the MS Project 2010 for that laptop it says that the Product Key is good and lets me install Project, but when I open Project it asks to Activate the version using
the Key online. When I say yes, it says that the Product cannot be activated because the Key is not valid.
Why won't it let me activate? It is the same version that was previously installed on the same laptop? Please let me know what I need to do to activate this software. Thank you.

I think this is an issue you'll have to resolve by contacting Microsoft directly. Have your key available when you talk to them.

Change Product key Mcrosoft Ofice WITHOUT reinstalling?

IS There a way toCHANGE the product key of microsoft office WITH out having to re-install microsoft office whole??

well, first i posted it here because there is no area for like "office" and also because here is the place where there is the most views.
but for the product key i want to change it because on the microsft site they like e-miled me(after i said i wanted it) a product key for office pro. 7 beta... so i like want to change it.

Fans much more active after full reinstall of OS X

My boot disk became corrupted and even DiskWarrior could not fix it; I was forced to do a full, new installation of OS X 10.4 from the disc I bought when it came out.
Since the new install I've noticed that the fans come on with a lot more regularity, and spin up much higher, than before. It's not constant, but opening iTunes, for example, will cause the "jet engine" sound for about 10 seconds and then it backs down again. Like I said, I never saw this behavior before; when I bought it it came with 10.3 and I upgraded to 10.4 when it came out. Should I have used the restore disc first and then upgraded immediately to 10.4?

I don't believe theres anything wrong with your installation. Try going into your energy saver preference pane and set the processor performance to either highest or reduced. Since you've got a fresh install chances are that it's set to automatic and that can cause reving fans.

You have changed my product key and now microsoft is asking me for activation product key that doesn't match what you have changed. and it clearly stated that you changed my product key... please fix this!

I'v had my laptop for 9 years. I have been running Mozilla maybe for a year with updates. microsoft Automatic updates are set. Then, yesterday, for no reason at all, Microsoft asks me for my product key activation. Made some research and found out that my microsoft is genuine, however, it has not been activated!!! I found it really strange. When I wanted to put my product key registration, they say it is invalid. So, I made some research by going on the link they offered on the activation screen which brought me to be able to browse the internet. When I made research, I found out through the "test if your product is genuine", there is a product key that is different than what I have. They say I have product key xxxxx-xxxxx-T6DFB-Y934T-YD4YT. it clearly says it is 100 genuine but was not activated! After 9 years? I saw they wrote that my browser states mozilla. am not sure why this is happening. how can my product key change without my authorization? how can I not be able to enter my own computer anymore? why isn't my product activated? can you help me? can't contact microsoft without paying $49/hr or something like that... I don't have a credit card...

Mozilla has nothing to do with a Microsoft product activation key.
That "test" page should be viewed in Internet Explorer and not with Firefox, as it may use ActiveX which isn't compatible with any Mozilla product.

Unfortunately neither HP or Microsoft will have any record of your Product Key - but you can order a set of Recovery Discs from HP.
Order HP Recovery Discs.
Using these discs to reinstall windows will not require you to enter a Product Key - activation will be automatic.

Dreamspark Windows 8.1 Pro x86 and x64 Product Key Issue

I am having trouble with DreamSpark. I have an account from DreamSpark and want to use windows 8.1 pro x64 in my laptop. The problem is that dreamspark gives me only one product key for both x64 and x86 versions of windows 8.1 pro but when I try to install
x64, it asks me to validate x64 via that product key. After typing the key, it gives me an error saying sth "could not validate". However, in the x86 version, it is able to validate. It is annoying because it says "Microsoft

I agree with Yannick, both x64 and x86 should work fine, but only one is installed at a time,
for example, before you install the 64bit version, you will need to uninstall the 32bit version, even if it is on another computer.

Lost product key for my toshiba laptop

You could not lost the product key because the recovery disk is already activated.
So you dont need any keys to install the OS using the recovery disk.
But if you lost the recovery disk then you could order this from here:

But its not for free you have to pay a small fee.

Windows 8 VAIO laptop - MS support insists on a product key but there isn't one

I have a VAIO SVE17125CDB that has behaved wonky since I first got it so I decided to do a system reset. Before doing the reset I upgraded the computer's BIOS (often a good idea in a situation like this). The problem is that now I need to redo the Windows' activation. Microsoft support claims that upgrading the BIOS is what caused this. They say this is quite normal and all they need is the product key. They (two levels of MS support) insist that the product key MUST be on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop. It is not. Without the product key they refuse to activate my PC. Sony support says I don't need the product key with Windows 8. So now I have a useless laptop. I think Sony and MS need to talk to each other.

I am sorry for any mixed information or if this difers from what you've been previously told, but there is no sticker with a Windows product key on the bottom of the VAIO notebook and this is completely normal.
If someone at Microsoft told you differently, they are completely incorrect. The Product key is embedded into the motherboard of the notebook and you should not have to enter the product key when you install Windows 8 (if everything is working properly). Windows should have visibility and be capable of using this key automatically.
If Microsoft repeatedly refuses to assist you beacuse there is no sticker on the Notebook, please obtain the Microsoft Agent's name, Agent ID, and a reference number to your phone call with them and I will provide feedback to Microsoft.
Updating the BIOS does not affect your Windows 8 Product key. However, changing hardware inside the notebook can. Have you undergone any repair or any parts replacement on this notebook at all? Please let me know as this is very important.
Without additional information it is hard to tell, but it is possible that something went wrong when you performed the system Reset. I would suggest instead performing a Factory Recovery with Sony Recovery Discs to ensure that the software is installed properly to Sony specifications. Is this something you would be willing to try? Did you create recovery discs initially when you first got the computer? If not you can purchase them from Sony Parts.
If you are installing your own copy of Windows 8 and not the copy with the Sony Recovery Discs, then you should still not need to enter the product key because it is embedded into the notebook.

My Mac was re-imaged, had purchased version of Cs5, now I only have my product key, how can I get it back on my fresh system?

My hard drive was fixed up and as a result I lost all my applications including a purchased version of Cs5. I don't have the physical disc anymore, but I do have the product key. Can I reinstall suite, and how?

The product key on the bottom side of the notebook is an OEM key and belongs to the preinstalled OEM version. That means you can??t use this key with a normal Vista installation disk that you can buy on the internet or from a computer shop.
If you want to install Vista you should a Toshiba recovery disk or a Microsoft disk with the corresponding product key.

MS Word Starter 2010 continually asks for product key yet keeps closing.

When I try to open the free pre-installed MS Word Starter on my PC I am prompted to enter my 25 character product key. After doing this a I receive ‘Your product key is valid’ on pressing the ‘Continue’ button MS starter opens yet three seconds later the
same box appears prompting me to enter my product key again. On entering the product key again I receive a further confirmation my key is valid. On pressing ‘Continue’ the box closes yet so does MS Starter 2010.
It used to work when the PC was new.
I have run ‘Repair’ MS Starter and ‘Repair’ MS Office 2010
The same happens with MS Exel starter.
I use MS Word 2010 day to day which works fine.

No I probably did not uninstall it from the old computer and that machine
was scrapped some years back.
Just to recap, I use Word 2010 and Excel 2010 every day and they work OK.
As I understand it these programmes, Excel & Word 2010, is what I got from
downloading the MS Student & Teachers discs?
So in my limited understanding, as they both work OK, I don't appear to have
a problem with the license being used twice. Do I understand that
correctly?
My problem is that on the rare occasions I decide to dip into the MS
Starter Programmes, a window appears asking for a product key. When I enter the
key for the MS Student and Teachers disc it says its valid, Word Starter opens,
the box asking for the product key appears again and when entered both windows
close. I don't quite understand why It asks for a product key for something
factory pre-loaded?

Forgot to note the Product key while downloading a trial version of visio 2010

I downloaded a trial version of the Microsoft Visio from the Microsoft site. However I forgot to note the Product key. Is there a way to retrieve it. PS: I hold a valid account in Microsoft website.
