Product Key error on Windows 7 Installation

Why do I get a product key error come up on installing windows 7 on Mac using bootcamp?I recently installed windows 7 on my macbook pro using bootcamp. I used windows 7 upgrade and when i got to the product key enter phase. It told me I had a invalid product key even though I just bought the windows 7. How do I fix this problem?

In order for the product key to work, you must upgrade from a previously installed version of Windows on a device that has already been formatted in NTFS. Boot Camp Assistant doesn’t format partitions in NTFS—it just sets the boundary for partitioning—and if you hit the format button with your upgrade version of Win 7, it will install files until it asks for the product key, but it won’t accept it. Hope this helps. Peace.

I located the Office 2010 product key sticker on the side of my computer. It came pre-installed. When I type in the Product Key, I get an error message saying it is "Not a Valid Product Key". I have double checked that I am not typing the code in incorrectly and I cannot find multiple copies of Office 2010 installed.

    Hi,
No, that is NOT Office product key, it's Windows product key. Your machine has pre-installed TRIAL version. If you wish to continue to use it you have to buy e keycard. I really hate this practice from vendors and ALWAYS uninstall trial software on my computers. Please check the following link to buy product keycard.

You can pay much cheaper for Home & Student version and a lot cheaper with a student id card.

I have tried to download itunes 10.5 but during installation it gives an error of windows installer. Please let me know how to install it.

    Repair youe Apple Software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install.
If you don't find ASU in All Programs, go to Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs.

I can't Start, Uninstall of Install new iTunes. I'm getting the same error message: "Window Installer Service could not be accessed". No other programs having similar problem. Any suggestions how to fix it?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
The Windows 8.1 disk from the desktop is it Windows disk or is it  a recovery disk you created from the desktop.
If it is a Windows disk you should have a product code with the disk.  If it is a recovery disk it will not work.
Although you did not create recovery disk if you did not delete the recovery partition you can recover the original OS using it.
How to Perform an HP System Recovery
If you did delete the recovery partition, I suggest contacting HP support to obtain a recovery kit.  The key would automatically be picked up from where it is  stored in the bios.

  • Get product key for preinstalled windows 7

Hello sir, I bought this laptop (Hp pavilion dv6 6115tx Entertainment Notebook)around 4 years ago with preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium Operating system.  As you know Microsoft is going to give free upgrade to Windows 10. But the problem is that the product key below my laptop is not much visible. I am unable to identify the product key.  Is there any other way to get product key of my genuine windows 7? I have recovery disk with me. but it does'nt  have product key on it.Please help me... Thanks & Regards,Rushikesh Musale

Yes, you can use the same product key for 64-bit release too, as SenneVL says. But, kindly note that upgrade across is not supported and you need to perform clean install only. Also, kindly note that the Windows installation must be made in the same PC,
even if different architecture is being used. Otherwise, activation issues will arise.
Multiple architecture is supported in multiboot, so Windows 32-bit and 64-bit can be installed as multiboot environment, parallely.

  • WINDOWS PRODUCT KEY - for reinstalling WINDOWS

What if your computer comes with NO Windows Product Key sticker -- computer came new with Windows 7 preinstalled but, included Windows  8 installation discs - never needed a key & should've (in hindsight) made a boot repair disc - but, recently computer would NOT boot up - tried to repair it but, no luck -- SO, now if I want to reinstall Windows 7 will have to use an OEM but, need a Product Key for HP computers --- any time else you install Windows you are REQUIRED to enter your own Product Key # which is about 25 digits including letters, numbers & dashes ---------- I do have Windows 10 on another drive but, love Windows 7 -- Windows 10 is far better than 8 BUT, not as good as 7 I have looked all over my case for any WINDOWS sticker & inside too -- I have heard that laptops are usually under the battery but, for DESKTOPS will be stuck somewhere on the case & this does NOT have one -------------- it is just STUPID for HP to ship computers without a PRODUCT KEY as every other manufacturer does for this reason..THANKS

Hi,  Goodmorning! Uhm as far as I know Operating System of these unit didnt came with product keys, because operating system of this unit is from the manufacturer, And it was never been installed using standalone discs by hp. You might need to order recovery discs online on its support website. as far as I know. Hope you dont mind.

  • I Need product key to activate windows my Device (HP Pavilion x2)

No one here or at HP will know your product key. It usualy comes stickered to documentation of your product (if it was factory refurbished it will be included. Seller refurbished may have opted not to include it if it was lost). There were ways of extracting it if you were still in windows 8 but it seems you are beyond that now. It also probably would have been included with the windows 8 backup you should have had windows make before updating to 10.  At this point you are probably out of luck and should make the most of windows 10.

  • 0xC004C003 Product Key Error

My HP ENVY 17-j053ea laptop, which I bought in 2013, was pre-installed with Windows 8, and a few weeks after buying it I upgraded to Windows 8.1 without any problems. A few days ago I upgraded to Windows 10 via the Get Windows 10 App, but when it finished installing, I was told I needed to activate Windows. It displayed the 0xC004C003 error message, and said the product key had been blocked, and that I needed to enter a new one. I have never been asked this before and I do not have a product key because Windows was already installed on the computer when I bought it. I then looked online and many people were saying that to activate Windows 10, I needed to install the operating system from scratch. I then performed a system reset on my computer, returning the computer to how it was when I bought it, which I have done before without any problems. However, this time , the same error was appearing and Windows was still not activated. I have since done another system reset and upgraded to Windows 8.1 from WIndows 8 but this has not fixed it. I contacted HP by phone, the person I spoke to didn't know how to help me and told me someone else from HP would call me back within 48 hours, but I haven't been contacted yet, it is now 3 days after I called. I then called Microsoft to see if they could help, but they told me I had to contact HP for help with product keys of HP products with Windows pre installed. If anyone can help me to get this problem sorted I will be very thankful.

    Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted.  I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar

  • Error 1601 Windows Installer error

Hi, I was trying to update my Adobe Reader and I got error 1601
It said that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed, and that this can occur if the Windows Installer is not properly installed.
I tried to go get windows installer "fixed" but when I click anything it always seems to be a program that is trying to get me to buy something.
How do I get Windows Installer working properly? Then once I do that, should I re-upload Adobe Reader entirely?

And "that program that wants me to buy something" being? Sounds like you have malware on your system and it's blocking all your installs.
