Product key not accepted - cannot register Word processor...

Hi,
I bought an HP dm4 including Windows 7. When I try to register the Word Processor program by using the Microsoft Windows 7 product key in the sticker at the bottom of my laptop I get a wrong key notice!
What is the problem??
Thanks for help!! T.

Please confirm the question I asked you. Did your computer come with Word 2010 Starter and Excel 2010 Starter already pre-installed on your laptop ?
These versions are versions that do not time out, they have a few features taken away from them that the full version has, if you want the full functionality, as well as access to power point etc you will need to purchase the full version.

  • Windows 7 Product key Not working, Cannot download iso

First sorry if this post to to simar to the other windows 7 product key one but the soultion dosnt work anymore.
My hdd in my y580 started to give me the tick of death so i brought a new ssd to replace it and backed up my files to my external. i was going to make a bootable copy of windows 7 on my usb so i could install it on the ssd and this is were i ran into issue.
All offical download links now lead to a dead page that redirects you to a new windows download form where you are required to put in your product key before you can download. i put in my product key from the sticker on the back but it just returns with this "http://prntscr.com/62eyxp"
So even if i am able to get a copy of windows 7 will my cdkey work at all? and how can i get a copy when it keep giving me the message.
    Anyhelp would be welcome.

First I am not a Microsoft employee, but I am a Microsoft MVP. As such I have to stick with the position Microsoft takes on downloading ISO files. They have given some users a way to redownload the ISO file. The other ways that are posted on the web Microsoft says that the official resellers (Digital River) downloads are for those who purchase the Windows OS thru the reseller's website. Anyone else that wants to download from there is not authorized to have such a downloaded file. All other sources of those file (other than the Microsoft site or the resellers site) are not legitimate sources of the file and can be infected.
This leaves users who purchased a computer from an OEM with no viable download source.  While my personal opinions may differ from the official Microsoft position, I cannot really express them. But you may want to check out the DMCA Title III. Of course this only matters if you are in the US. If you are not, I have no idea what laws would apply.
While the downloaded ISO will not work with the key that you have from an OEM, if it is a real ISO from Microsoft and has not been altered in anyway and is a complete download, you can use it for repairs. Which is what almost everyone I deal with needs it for, repairs not reinstall. To be honest I hate telling someone to wipe their harddrive and reinstall windows.
I do believe that ALL OEM's are now charging for a copy of the factory image that is originally on the harddrive. But they cannot be used for repair in the manner that the Windows install disc can be.
What you do with all this information is entirely up to you. I hope it helps.

  • Product key not excepted in Microsoft Word

I have recently bought a Toshiba Tecra and when I tried to use Microsoft word, it asked for a Product Key. So I entered the Product Key written on the sticker underneath my Laptop and it does seem to want to acknowledge it at all. Keeps asking me to retype it.
I looked up the help pages given and tried all the methods it suggests but still no luck. Do I need to contact someone for a new Product key or get it unlocked or something?
I am now stuck and need to be able to use word desperately, as now it is not allowing me to copy anything to word or even save anything that is in word.
It s all a bit of a nightmare really. Please help!

    Hello
Please check the product key sticker on bottom side of your notebook again. Can you see that this product key is for Microsoft Office? No, you can see that its the product for Windows!!!
So if you want to use Word or Office you have to buy a copy. Only a trial version is installed but not the full version.

  • Product Key not accepted using WAIK.

I am trying to create an unattended install using WAIK. So far it is working well however it will not recognize the activation key that i am adding to the unattend image i have created.   I have activation keys for both KMS and MAK but it will not
accept either of these.  Is there another key i can use that it will accept?

I always download the ISO disk from  the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service and then burn it to a DVD from which i create the images i use.  It is this image that appears to reject either the KMS or the MAK keys that are also copied from this same
    site.
VL media downloaded from VLSC already has the relevant KMSclient product key embedded within.
If you are intending to use KMShost activation, there is no need to specify a product key at all.
The product keys published on VLSC are your (private) KMShost, and MAK, product keys.
The KMSclient product keys are publicly published on TechNet:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612867
The KMShost product key is only to be installed into your KMshost machine, not into your KMSclient machines.

  • Miix2 8 Windows Product Key not accepted

    Hello,
I got a brand new Miix2 8 which asks me to activate Windows.
I got a sticker with the Windows product key inside the product box. However Microsft tells me that there is something wrong with it. In the UEFI I can find the entry for the windows key. There it says "Std" only.
Where can I get a working product key. My device should be activated by the factory already?
    Thanks and Best Regards
    Marco

That raises flags. I would contact Lenovo to have the machine re-imaged.
Also, can you clarify when you said you received a product key in the box? Again, it seems very unusual. With other series, the key is either affixed to the unit, or embedded into the BIOS.
Did you purchase this unit through a retailer, or direct from Lenovo?

  • Error installing Office 2013 on Server 2012 R2 RDS - Error 25004: the product key you entered cannot be used on this machine

    Hi there,
I really hope someone can help me as I am tearing my hair out trying to get this resolved!
I am working on a Server 2012 R2 server with RDS running. Before it was turned into a RDS server it had a copy of Office 2010 running as a trial to see would it work for the accounting package that is running for users via Remote Desktop. Trial worked ok
so it was converted into a RDS server. Now, as its a RDS it needs to run Office under a volume licence, which I have. However when trying to install I get the message: "Error 25004: the product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. this is most
likely due to previous Office 2013 trials being installed on the system."
In summary I have tried everything I can think of and find to remove all traces of the old Office from the machine but still this message persists. I have run the Fix It For Me uninstall from MS and it cannot find any Office installed. i have manually searched
through all of the Windows directories including Program Files and AppData and removed all traces of Office from there, I have searched the registry and removed all I can find from there.
Where or what file does the installer look at to see that a previous version was installed?
I cannot scrub this machine which I would have done long ago because there is another SQL Server based application running on it.
Really really appreciate anyone that can help me on this,
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have definitely heard your frustration, and I’ll try my best to help you.
Since Office 2010 installed on it before, you need to remove Office 2010 completely.

  • Office 2013 Technet installation Error 25004. The product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. (System error: - 1073422314)

I am receiving an error when attempting to install
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 which I downloaded from the TechNet site.  At the end of the installation process I receive the following message:
"Error 25004. The product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. This is most likely due to previous Office 2013 trials being installed. (System error:
    -1073422314)"
I have never installed a trial or Beta of any Office product on this machine.   However, I have installed Office 2007 Ultimate and Office 2010 Professional Plus.  All of these are 32bit versions downloaded from TechNet site.  In addition,
prior to this error I had attempted unsuccessfully to install the 64bit version of Office 2013 as well as standalone versions of Visio Professional 2013 x64 and Project professional 2013 x64.   All three of these installations failed due to previous
installation of 32bit Office software, so I have downloaded the 32 bit versions but not yet tried to install, other than Office 2013.
I used the Custom upgrade option during the attempted install of Office 2013, specifying "keep all prior versions".
Note that all the above was done on a new machine.  The specific purpose was to test co-existence of multiple versions of OFFICE (2007, 2010, 2013) to facilitate user training and migration.
I have tried uninstalling via Control Panel, and performed some of the steps for manual removal, however did not do all of them since 1) They are quite lengthy and 2) Some of them seem to involve removing ALL prior versions of Office, which I do not want
to do; the earlier versions are working properly and I do not want to have to uninstall them.  Just want to uninstall and reinstall Office 2013.   Also tried running  O15CTRREMOVE.diagcab which indicated that it could not find a problem,
but did not seem to remove anything.
I have read about ten recommended TechNet articles, which recommend everything from running a FIXIt tool, uninstalling all OFFICE software, and reformatting the whole machine.  Most of these involve System error -1073418209 rather than -1073422314 (which
is the code that I am getting).   Other than that the problem sounds the same.  This seems to be a problem with key management and copy protection in these products, dating back to 2010.  Dozens of IT professionals have tried the solutions
and vented their frustration since other than the full format, the other solutions work only sporadically, if at all.  Some of these people had been working with trial or beta software, but many who encountered this problem had not.  As
noted above, none of my software was a trail version.    I do not want to uninstall all the OFFICE versions, particularly if it as likely as not will not resolve the issue.   (I am also getting paranoid to the extent of fearing that
after uninstalling everything I might not be able to reinstall any version).  I think what we need here is a definitive fix from Microsoft, though I am not too hopeful, in view of the lack of response to all the other technicians who have been struggling
with this for at least the past three years.
If anyone is aware of a solution which works consistently, I would appreciate it.  Reformatting however is not an option.  Detailed instructions for completely uninstalling Office 2013 (ONLY 2013) might be helpful.  I would be willing to uninstall
all versions, but only as a last resort, and only if there is some assurance that this will actual solve the problem (for many others it did not seem to do so).
    Thanks
PS: Probably doesn't matter, but I am running this on Windows 7 Pro w/SP1, 64 bit edition.

    Tony,
Thanks for your reply.   I do in fact have three versions of Office installed on this machine, 2007 2010 and (hopefully) 2013.  I have on previous occasions installed 2007 and 2010 on a single machine, but this is my first attempt to install
    2013.
According to TechNet article  office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/install-and-use-multiple-versions-of-office-on-the-same-pc-HA103981695.aspx (Install
and use multiple versions of Office on the same PC) it is possible to install
Office 2003 2007 2010 and 2013 on a single system, provided they are installed in the sequence indicated.  It is noted that some problems may occur, notably involving file associations, but there is no
mention of any activation key issues.
As stated in my original request, the software which I have installed is NOT a trail version.   I did NOT obtain it from the evalcenter, but from
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/subscriptions/securedownloads/hh442904.
The above is a full retail version.    The files which I downloaded are:
    en_office_ultimate_2007_united_states_x86_dvd_480625.iso
    en_office_professional_plus_2010_x86_515486.exe
    en_office_professional_plus_2013_x86_dvd_1123673.iso
I know that the error message says that the problem is commonly caused by attempting to install trial software more than once, but that is not the case.  Several other people have reported this same problem, sometimes involving trial software but not
in every case.    My own opinion is that this is a software bug involving key management and copy protection.
Many people have reported on TechNet that the problem was NOT resolved even after uninstalling all Office software.  While there is a chance I might get lucky, I really would like a solution which has a better chance for success.
By any chance, does the error code 1073422314
provide any further insight into this issue?
Thanks again for your help.  However, further assistance is needed to resolve this issue.
PS: Sorry the font sizes are so mixed up, I haven't quite figured out how to control the formatting when I paste

  • Product ID and product Key not working on outlook.

    Hello.
So I have a MacBook Pro and I bought Office Mac 2011.
I got it around 2 years ago and I installed Word, Excel, and Power Point with no problems... I didn't install
Outlook at the time because I didn't think I would need to use it. Now I want to
install it and the software is rejecting my Product Key. So I came to the website and typed my Product ID and same thing, it says not working.
I don't know what to do to fix the problem!
    Anybody could help me, please?

    Hi,
Which edition is your Office 2011? Outlook is not included in Home & Student version:

I was able to successfully download the Visio Premium 2010 60 day trial software. However, the Product Key information stated: "Please refresh your browser (F5) to receive your key". Nothing happened when
I refreshed, and I continued to receive the same message. I cannot use the software without the Product Key. Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
We can try clearing the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies in IE to try again.
Open Internet Explorer, Internet Options, under
General tab, click Delete button, select the checkboxes of
Temporary Internet files and website files and Cookies and website data, click
    Delete button.
Another way, simply go back and re-register your account, see if this time the product key will come up on the download page.
    Hopefully it can be helpful.

  • Product Key Not Working in Unattend

We cannot get our product key to work in our unattend file. Below is the unattend file (the product key portion). Anyone notice anything wrong, or have any suggestions? I have also tried adding the product key into the custom.ini settings and that didn't
work either. I know the product key works and I have double check to make sure I didn't fat finger anything. We are imaging Windows 7 Professional Computers using a Windows Server 2012 WDS/MDT server.

ONe of the steps in your task sequence returned an error.
THe step was *not* marked as "continue on error", so the task sequence halted (red screen).
    The log shows:
    Expand a string: WinPEandFullOS
    Executing command line: cscript.exe c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ato
Process completed with exit code 2147810867
Exit code  2147810867 is simply negative 1, nothing exciting.
Something is wrong with the call to the slmgr.vbs script, it would be great if we had the output to that program, for example:
    cmd.exe /c "cscript.exe c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ato > %temp%\slmgr.log"
So we can look at the reasons why the command failed afterwards

  • Win 7 Product key not working

    Hi!
I downloaded an ISO of Windows 7 Home Premium from windows website and made a clean install on my Lenovo IdeaPad Y580. Before re-installing I made a screenshot of my product key , which was shown by application Everest Ultimate. During the re-install process I typed my product key. Installation successful.
But only yesterday I realized, there might be a problem: Start -> My Comp -> properties -> Windows Activation, there is written, that "15 days to activate. Activate Windows now". I tried to activate, but I got a message: "The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation".
After that I checked the product key, and here is the 2nd problem: the product key shown by Everest and the key on the underside of the laptop ARE NOT EQUAL.
I tried to type both, none of them was working. And I have no idea, why... Can somebody help me, what's wrong, why isn't it working?
(some info: Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium, the only change I made was the changing of the SSD from 32 to 64 GB . But I don't think that could be the reason...)

Welcome to the Forum kislovi and kherring7383 !
kislovi,  you do not have to purchase any special Windows 7 media once you have a valid Windows 7 Home Premium key on the back of your laptop. You can download a copy of Windows 7 and use your key, as you are attempting to do. I had a similar situation when I purchased my W500. It came with a 160GB hard drive which had Windows 7 Pro 32-bit installed and activated. I wanted to replace the 160GB hard drive with a 500GB one. So I used a key finder program to view the key and copied it down carefully. After doing a fresh installation of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, I tried to activate using the key I had recovered. It was not accepted. As mentioned, it was probably a Volume Licensing key of some sort which Lenovo uses  to do mass installations. Then I noticed I had a Windows 7 Pro C.O.A. key on the back of the laptop which was different from the one reported by the key finder. I tried that key and was able to activate Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
You may use any disc (OEM, retail, upgrade, VL) with Windows 7. It is not "media-specific." You may also download a legitimate copy of Windows 7 from Microsoft, burn it to a DVD and use it with an O.E.M. C.O.A. key. I have done all of these things. During the installation process, the software will customize itself to the version that corresponds to the key.
Windows 7 media is different from Windows XP media. For example,  I have retail and O.E.M. Windows XP discs. When doing a fresh installation on a machine which has an XP C.O.A. on the back, I have to use my O.E.M. XP installation disc. When I wish to use a retail Windows XP key I have purchased, I must use a retail XP installation disc. This is not true for Windows 7. I can use a retail version or O.E.M. version to do a fresh installation using the WIndows 7 C.O.A. on the back of a machine. I can verify with absolute certainty that it works. This is not a matter of O.E.M. versus Retail media. There is some other issue the OP is facing...
A few questions for kislovi: Do you wish to install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium? If you have at least 3GB of memory, you should go for the 64-bit version. I think you will find my post about the Benefits of a Windows 7 64-bit Operating System informative. The same key can be used to activate either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the product.
What is the exact file name for the version of Windows 7 which you downloaded? Here are the official Microsoft file names for Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit ("x86") and 64-bit ISO:
    • Windows 7 Home Premium (x86) - X17-58996     • Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) - X17-58997
(Note: These are the file names for the English versions. Other language versions have different file names).
What is the 8-digit file name you see on the C.O.A. on the back of your laptop? (For example, "X _ _- _ _ _ _ _"). Where did you download your copy of Windows 7 from? Here are 2 official Microsoft download link locations: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/  and  http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/
Double-check that you downloaded from an official Microsoft location, and that it's the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium and not Windows 7 Pro or some other version you downloaded by accident. If you still have difficulty, then your key may have been activated before, used on another laptop or some other issue exists. Let us know how you do.
Have a great day. (I do not work for Lenovo)

  • XML errors message (Product key not found/Invalid) in SNC5.1

    Hi,
I am working on SNC project which includes POC scenario.I have completed all the required configuration in R/3 4.6c and SNC5.1 system. The master data (mat, plant, vendor and Info records) are CIFed from R/3 to SNC, BP and MoT created in SNC. All the MD BAdIs are implemented in SNC. I am trying to post a PO from R/3 to SNC, IDOCS are successfully generated, PI has converted the IDOCS into XML messages, but i am getting XML error in SNC system (sxmb_moni) which states-
    1) Product key 000000000123456 (category ID) not found
    2) Item 00001: Product is missing or invalid
    3) Order, item 00001: Product 000000000123456 does not exist
    4) BOL processing failed. XML-message inbound processing has been terminated.
I am able to post the PO successfully in SNC Web UI which has alpha numeric product number (eg- 1120-110), but products with numerical value leading zeroes (eg- 000000012345) do not get posted. These product IDs give error in SNC sxmb_moni.
I have set up the output format of product number with 40.
    Appreciate your help.
Is there any kind of configuration required for leading zeroes in any of the systems (R/3,PI or SNC)
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi Bharath,
Were you able to over come the error for products in the XML message? I have same issue, can you please briefly point me in right direction?
I am facing the error message " Product key 0000000000xxxxxxx (category ID) not found". can you please briefly mention how did you resolve?
In my case, the XML message had product number '000000000070000598' and I tried to implement BAdI to make the product number appear as '70000598' and still it failed.
    Thank you in advance
    Best regards
