Product Name in Multi Lingual

Hi Gurus,
In our project we have a requirement to show the product name according to application locale's language.i.e if ENU object manager is being used the multilingual name created with ENU should be displayed, and if ARA OM is used ARA name should be displayed in all the areas like Order Items, Quote items, Installed assets etc.
According to bookshelf, we have created multi lingual product translation records for products in Admin-Products, respectively.
1) Simple products - Translations
2) Complex Products - Went to product definition, then open Work Space, translations
But in Quote items, Order items, assets, we still see the actual product name mentioned in S_PROD_INT.NAME column.
Please help me in fixing this.

How to design multi-lingual reports w.r.t. boilerplate text

Hi,
We need to design reports and report templates that are multi-lingual with respect to the boilerplate text in them.
How could this be done, if at all?
I am a bit familiar with the ideas about NLS parameters used to translate and format data that comes from the database, error messages etc., from other OTN posts and Reports documentation.
NLS stuff is NOT what I'm asking about.
Also, I don't think I need to mix languages in one report (or maybe is this part of a possible solution?)
Can I design a report which dynamically displays its boilerplate text parts in different languages, depending on the Windows locale of the user invoking the report?
Can I put all the boilerplate translations inside the report or some report 'configuration' file, rather than somewhere in the database?
If the report is set for batch production and automatic distribution, how would the scheduling mechanism tell the report which language to have its boilerplate text displayed at each invocation?
I think we'll be using Reports Builder 6i for development and will deploy on 9iAS R2 Reports Services. I'm not the actual developer, so I'm not sure about which Report Builder version will be used.

hello,
there are several ways to do it. i guess the most practical way is to actually use the XML customization feature that is available with reports or use translation hub, but since you stated that you are using 6i this is not an option as translation hub is only available from 9i onwards.
however the XML customziation approach would work for 6i as well. essentailly you create your report and make sure all your boilerplate text items have a uniqe name. then you can create a customization file for each language that then changes the content of each of the poilerpalte items. those can be applied at runtime or in batch.
as for the scheduling, you would need to either pass in a parameter naming the customization file or simply run the correct language version of the report.

Failure during running Maintain Multi-lingual Tables

Hi,
Currently, the system is running with R12.1.1 on RHEL 5.7.
All the prerequisite patches are installed including language performance.
Then, I am adding 4 additional languages. So, what's done is...
1. Activated languages in the license manager.
2. Run Maintain Multi-lingual Tables in AD Admin.
I assigned 16 workers for this, and the last two assignments failed with the following messages.

When I had search work, it seems that <not enough space> is causing this.
Or, is there any other reason than this for the failure?I believe this is only the reason and you need to add some space to APPS_TS_SEED tablesapce.
ALTER TABLESPACE APPS_TS_SEED add datafile '/<replace with the actual file name path>' size 1024M;

We have at least one application site that needs to have their applications in
multiple languages. If any of you out there have experience in doing this and
can offer tips/techniques it is appreciated.

Maintain Multi-Lingual Tables Option Fails On Cznlins.Sql

Hi all.
I am trying to install Albanian language in a 11.5.10.2 fresh installation.
I applyed all the neccesary patches to come to the NLS apply patch stage.
I followed the link

But the workers fail on Cznlins.Sql.

Multi-lingual Translator component in java?

hello all,
I want to make a Multi-lingual Translator component in java
which can be used to convert any existing web site(developed
using any technology asp/jsp etc) to any foreign language
viz german, spanish,italian and other major foreign
languages.
Please let me know how do i proceed in java with respect to
the following?:
1. It has to be developed as a component in java such that
it can be included in any existing web site as a control
which simply gives the users the option of converting
either the current web page from english to any other
foreign language or simply the entire web site from
english to any other foreign language
     How to develop it as a component so that it can be
independently merged into any existing web site(whether
asp or jsp) as a control? which technology should i be
using here EJB's or Applets or any other?
I personally think it can be a applet because with EJB's
container/application server is required.
what do you all suggest?
2. I don't want to use any free translators that are
available freely on net these days, because a lot of them
re-directs to their own translation page and includes
their own banners and or advertisements etc., which may
not be feasible with us as we have to include this
utility on our company's web sites
3. How much time it should take approximately to develop?
4. If there's any free tool available however without the
limitations as mentioned above in point 2, then i am not
averse to using it please let me know if such a tool is
available.
5. Please also let me know if there exists already a multi-
lingual component in java with source code freely

Change multi-lingual text for equipment

I'm trying to change some equipments fields, which are covered in BAPI_EQUI_CHANGE but also update multi-lingual text that can not be updated through this BAPI.
Is there any other BAPI or FM to update the equipment text?

Hello,
There is no separate function module or BAPI for this.
We have used function modules INIT_TEXT and SAVE_TEXT for this.
These are generic routines that can be used for all long texts in all languages.
You always need following key fields for a long text : ID, LANGUAGE, NAME and OBJECT
To find out these values check one of your manually created equipments (check header of one of the long texts).
Also check function group STXD for other usefull function modules.

Specifically, I would like to know if there are any good resources (whitepapers, web sites, books) that get into the details of what the object model and data model of a multi-lingual design would look like and how the two fit together. Multi Lingual Titles

We are developing a fully multi-lingual system and require the text displayed as report titles / headings to vary dependent on a 'locale' parameter. This does not appear to be possible - am I missing something?

Is is possible with Oracle Reports!

Creating multi-lingual websites in ucm

Hello,
is it possible to create multi-lingual websites in ucm?
The product webpage (http://www.oracle.com/products/middleware/content-management/web-content-management.html) says yes. But I can't find anything in the documentation or in Site Studio.

Internal content server and site studio pages (and a few others) can use the "lc" iDocScript function and a set of resource files to localize things. From there you'll need to figure out an approach for multi lingual contribution regions which can be anything from some serious customizations to having a separate copy of the site for each language.

Multi Lingual String not getting displayed properly with Java 1.5.4

Hi,
I have a strange problem and i think the problem is due to java 1.5.4.
Problem is:
My application was previously deployed on weblogic6.1 server and jdk used was 1.3.1
After i migrated my application to weblogic 9.2 and started using jdk 1.5.4, i am not able to correctly view the data which is stored in different languages on browser.
Some more details:
OS - Linux.
Database - Informix 9.2
Intresting part is :
If i enter a new multi lingual string from my application (deployed on WLS 9.2 with JDK 1.5.4) and store it in database, and then try to retreive it, it is displayed correctly.
Issue arises only when the multi lingual string created and stored in database from my old application (deployed on WLS 6.1 with JDK 1.3.1) is retrieved and displayed in the new application (WLS 9.2 with JDK 1.5.4).
Hope my issue is clear and if any one has any clue as to how to solve this issue. Kindly help

Special character in my product name

The name of my product is supposed to have a TM and em dash
in the product name in all instances. Of course, I have had huge
problems with that. Now I finally have a .chm working on a very
limited basis, but it has changes all instances of the dash to
"&endash;".
How do I deal with this?
Can I do a search and replace to do this from RH Help?
Insert symbols and special characters in Design Editor
1. Open the topic in the Design Editor. Select a location for
the character.
2. Select Insert > HTML > Symbol.
3. Double-click the symbol.
I have about a zillion references to the product name
including the dash & tm within the project. I am importing
everything from printed documentation in Framemaker.
I have removed all the dashes and tm marks from any file
names - but do I have to do the same within all the text in the
topics?

Hi Leisa.
For this sort of task you'd be better to use a tool designed
specifically for this. FAR and BkReplacem are two popular tools -
the latter being freeware. They work by specifying the starting and
ending HTML strings and can also use containing HTML strings as
required. Take a backup before doing anything.

Automatically Create Hyperlink Using Product Name in Document Text

I've recently been told that all the product names in our PDF documents from here on out have to link to their product pages on our web site. This is a problem because any given document could contain dozens or a hundred references to products. Before I try my first attempt at creating an Indesign Script (on something that sounds kind of complicated for a novice like me) I was wondering if there any existing scripts out there that do something like the following:
Find all instances in the text of product names beginning in AD and ending in either a number (digit) or the lowercase letter "x."
Style those instances in a predefined URL character style (basically styling it in blue).
Create a hyperlink to the product page using the product name found in the text. Taking the product name--AD4056, for instance--and creating a hyperlink by adding http://www.corpsite.com/ to the front of the URL and adding the product name to the end.
So the end result, for example, would be that a product name like AD4056 would be set in the URL character style, and would have hyperlink added that, when in the exported PDF, would take you to the product page, http://www.corpsite.com/ad4056.
It seems like it might be a relatively common problem, so I'm hoping that someone out there may have a resource already available. Oh, I'm on Indesign CS5 on a PC. Would prefer Javascript so our vendors could use it on a Mac, but PC-centric is OK too. If not, I'll get to crackin' on making it myself.

Error Maintaining multi-lingual tables.

Hello, for past few days i have been stack at this error, can't find the solution. So i am bringing my problem here, hoping for an answer.
Platform: Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5
i am on R12.1.3 version and DB: 11g 2 realise.
I need to install a Finnish language on EBS, so i licensed Finnish language in EBS.
As mentioned in subject my problem lies within Maintaining multi-lingual tables.

Was this instance upgraded from 11i and 10g database ? If so, a step in the upgrade may have been missed. Pl see this MOS Doc

Usually, it depends on your business requirements.
Bare minimum fields will be MARA-MATNR, MARD-LGORT (storage location), MARC-WERKS (plant), MARA-NETPR (Price), qty, shel-life expiration date, batch number, vendor, etc.
