Product Qualifications at Categories and Hierarchies

Can any one inform me , Product Qualifications can be attached to categories and hierarchies in product master ? If How ?

Product enhancements need to be set up from bottom to top (with Tx-Codes):
1. you need to define attributes (COMM_ATTRSET)
2. you need to group the attributes to set types (COMM_ATTRSET)
3. you need to create a hierarchy (COMM_HIERARCHY)
4. you need to assign your set types to the hierarchy (inheritance is happening automatically) (COMM_HIERARCHY)
5. you have to assign your product to the hierarchy -> The additional classifications become available.(COMM_PR01)
Keep in mind that all this is not customizing but maintaining master data - as such they are not automatically put into transport requests.

Here are some of inputs will help for undersatnding:
<b>The CRM product master is a collection or arrangement of various settypes which contain specific data.</b>
Pre-defined settypes are delivered (e.g. basic product data; conversion of unit of measure)
Enhancement of the product master with own settypes is possible
Settypes correspond to database tables
Attributes correspond to your product characteristics.
<b>Attributes can be summarized with the help of set types</b>
In the system there are standard set types which are always available. However, you can also create and implement user-defined set types, to depict marketing data, for example.
The usage of set types can be restricted (e.g. certain set types only allowed for products of type product) Distribution chain-dependent set types can be created.
A set type is only permissable for a product when the set type is assigned to the category to which you then assign the product. To assign a set type to a category, use the function Edit categories and hierarchies.
You can assign a set type to several product categories within a category hierarchy. However, each set type can only be assigned within one hierarchy. In doing so, a multiple assignment of a set type to one and the same product (over contrasting categories) is prevented.
A product can be assigned to several categories, as long as these are within different category hierarchies. A product can also be assigned to only one category per hierarchy.
The assignment to the base hierarchy R3PRODSTYP is vital, so that basic data set types are available, for example.
R3PRODSTYP depicts the product types present in the R/3 system.
Customer product numbers can be assigned. This Customer product ID is stored in the relationships
Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)
Customer-own checks can be defined before a product can be saved. Enhancements  Consistency check

Regards,At product/category/sku level there is a property called template.
Find the property in ACC/BCC and provide all the values including the URL property.
In you jsp, you can use this property from product/sku like the way you retrieve any other property from sku/product.
<dsp:valueof param="product.template.URL" />
Using that property with <dsp:include> includes that page.

How to sync new catalog , categories and products created in ACC to pub db
Hi all,
I have created new catalogs+categories and some sample products in my ATG application using ACC. I can access them in my application.
Now i want to move ahead and create some promotions + scenarios for those products. I went through the docs and got that recommended approach is to use BCC for these items and then deploy them to prod instance.
But before that since the newly added catalogs and products are available only with prod db, i should sync them up with my pub db. so that both of my db will be in sync. I tried to look help/steps for this but did not get any.
Can you pl provide some pointers about this, how can i do that? Any link/site for the required steps will definitely help me.

Either the dynamo Server is not running ,or the hostname and/or port number are invalid
please tell me anything i doing wrong.

About using categories and perspectives for new user
We are just beginning a conversion and upgrade project to convert our Web site to Oracle Portal. I'm trying to get a good handle on some different things we need to resolve as part of the project. One of the first decisions is using Categories and Perspectives.
I'd like to ask users about how they have used categories and perspectives and some real-world examples of how these work and improve the site and user experience.
About us
We're a big nonprofit river authority and wholesale electric provider in Austin, Texas. Currently, we offer very limited online transaction capabilities. However, we are diverse organization and users come to us looking for every specific information, so these elements may be very helpful. I'm evaluating how we can use these and other elements to make recommendations. Some real-world examples and best practices would help a lot.

Perspectives and categories may be leveraged in custom search portlets, so that you can enter the content one time, in one place, and have selected content display in multiple places.
Re: our "news" concept: our central communications group posts news stories tagged with one or more perspectives, such as which school is related to the story. This allows us to keep all of our news stories in one page group, but reuse the content elsewhere. For example, for the School of Nursing intranet, we can use a custom search portlet that automatically displays only that school's stories.
You'll want to do some up-front planning regarding your classification scheme. One significant limitation of both categories and perspectives is the inability to change the hierarchy. Oracle Portal product team, if you're reading this, this is a serious pain! I might also recommend leaving your classification scheme relatively flat. Tagging content with perspectives becomes more difficult if the content contributor has to visually traverse a deep hierarchy of perspectives.
Categories work similarly, but we mainly use them to visually sort items on a page using the "Group By" feature of a region.
Hope this gets some gears turning.

Before creating the Service type of product, you have to define the Base category for Service type product. Generally the category for service will be created under the R3 hierarchy R3PRODSTYPE. You can create this category using the TCode:
COMM_HIERARCHY. Here you have to select the product type as Service and have to assign the set types to the category.
You can create a service product using the transaction : COMMPR01 -> Click on Service ICON -> Select the Category for Service Type. Then fill in the details for Service Product description, Service ID(Based on number range settings for products), Language.
Also fill other details like Base Unit of measure, Pricing condition for different sales areas for the service product.
Since you are using CRM7.0, you can do all these activities using a POWER USER role.

Symptom:
You might see an error in Software Update Point Status Message when you run software updates synchronization. (Figure 1)
WSUS Configuration Manager failed to subscribe to update categories and classifications to WSUS Server “Server Name”

When you check the WCM.log, WSUSCtrl.log and wsyncmgr.log. There is an error in WCM.log-“Category Product:6d76a2a5-81fe-4829-b268-6eb307e40ef3 (Windows 7 Language Packs) not found
on WSUS”. (Figure 2)

Cause:
Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise. The Windows 7 language packs can be installed only from the Optional
Updates section in Windows Update. However, these language packs are not available on the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server or through the Microsoft Download Center.

Resolution:
Go to Administration -> Overview -> Site Configuration -> Sites -> Right-click CAS -> Configure Site Components -> SUP Products tab, uncheck “Windows 7 Language
Packs”, then sync again. (Figure 3)

About installing Windows 7 language packs, you could use SCCM 2012 Package feature (download manually) or Windows Update.

This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.I managed to fix my issue by coping the Client, ClientUpgrade, and Scripts from the files from SCCM install discs folder SMSSETUP to c:\program files\Microsoft Configuration Manager folder. I noticed that some of the files in the scripts
folder was missing and I copied the other folders over because I felt that maybe my local copy of the Client installer where missing some key files as well. Once I did that and disabled software update push, restarted the wsus computer, and re-enabled
the software update push it was able to publish the client and start installing it that way.
I thing the initial log messages where pointing me in the wrong direction for a few hours because I was thinking it was permissions as well and kept trying to figure that out but in the end I do not believe any of that was the reason I was receiving the
same error as you where. -
What are the differences between tracing and hierarchical profiler?
There are many terms used by people, I am just wondering what are the differences between tracing and hierarchical profiler? Aren't they the same thing?
Thanks a lot.Instrumentation and tracing are two different things; in fact they belong to two different categories - one's a thing the other's an activity.
Tracing is following the execution path of a program. Tracing shows us the the calls a program makes, perhaps the internal choices it makes (ifs and whiles), exceptions thrown, etc,
Instrumentation is code we build into our program to produce a record of its status. There are different techniques, from using DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO calls to monitor status to writing log tables or files. Instrumentation can be used to generate a trace; it can do profiling; it can provide information reports on outputs and exceptions.
In my opinion DBMS_TRACE and DBMS_HPROF are not instrumentation, because they are external to the program under investigation, rather than built into it. However, there is an obvious overlap between the insight they provide and what we might do with our own logging.

IBooks categories and subcategories
Maybe I'm blind but I can't see any way to filter the categories down into subcategories. Is that possible? I also cannot see any rhyme or reason to the subcategories Apple puts by default on each categories home screen. For example, Sports has a subcategory section for recent releases and golf on the Sports "home screen" (for lack of a better term). There's no way to change the subcategories that I can see and why in the world would golf be put there as an arbitrary subcategory?
At this point the Kindle bookstore is a million times easier to navigate. I'm not talking content. I don't expect the iBookstore to have a ton of content at this point but trying to find a book is a royal pain. Based on the limited surfing I've done in a few categories I don't see how it has anywhere close to 60,000 books since I quickly get to the end of the books that I'm able to browse through in each category. If you want to get it by product (RepositoryItem), you can do product.getPropertyValue("parentCategories"). It will bring all product parent categories.
ATG uses the same items to describe categories and subcategories, with type "category".
If you want to get by site (RepositoryItem), you can do site.getPropertyValue("defaultCatalog"), and get all categories from the defaultCatalog repository item.

In Alert configuration alert rules are defined based on Alert Categories. So Alert Categories has defined using t code ALRTCATDEF. Container Elements fetches the appropriate dynamic message base on the container variable.

These error messages are quite clear in telling what is wrong. You have an Interface called Displayable that specifies a method something like thispublic String getDisplayText() {But in your Product source code, you created thismethodpublic void getDisplayText() {The compiler is complaining because the methods are not the same.
You also need to return a String in the method probalby like thisreturn message; -

I want to transfer my photos from the PC (windows explorer) to my Ipad. The problem is that a keep my photos in different categories and they are in one large folder and several subfolders (2 or 3 levels of subfolders).When I sent it to the Ipad, it just respect the first level of folder. After the first subfolder, all the photos are mixed. Any idea how to keep my original organization just transferring from PC to the Ipad (folder having a subfolder also having another subfolder)?

DiogoThe Photos app doesn't currently support subfolders, it only has the one level of folder/album. You will either need to change your folder structure on your computer to be just one level, see if there is a third-party photo app in the store that copes with subfolders, or just make do.
