Product structure browser in portal

Hi all,
Do you know something about a product browser, a tool to navigate in a product structure in a portal application ? I found a component (an old BSP ) link to IPPE but what i'm looking for is rather something my old CC04 in SAP R/3.
Anyone knows a tool which can be used in a SAP portal ?

I did not get the question clearly. Are you looking for a ready made tool that could be customized or configured?
I know of a Webdynpro for Java tutorial - Tree structure, that can used to build up application to show up product structure. Hope that helps.

Product Structure Configuration

All,
We would like to partially disable CC04 from transaction MM03. The menu patth is MM03>Environment>Product Structure. We would like to disable the right click capability from installing one equipment to another. Are there any OSS notes or fixes that can help us?

Going into the material master via MM03 there is an option under the Environments pull-down known as Product Structure. Selecting this opens up access to what looks exactly like the Product Structure Browser transaction CC04. In there it is allowing drag and drop of one equipment to another. If a user
inadvertent moved an equipment into another equipment by doing the drag and drop, it open up a security vulnerability. We have tried to lock up the CC04 transaction but the user still have the access to do so thru MM03 transaction.
In additiona to that, we had customized another tarnsaction that is similar to CC04 for a limited authorized users.

Dependency objects not updated in MPD structure browser

Using Product Structure for checking out originals of child DIR's

I have a requirement of creating a package of documents.
Some of my DIR's are linked to service notification, some are linked to Purchse Order, & some are linked to Sales order.....
Each service notification, PO, SO is linked to one master DIR, so that they can be seen under Product Structure.
Is there any method to extract(Check Out) all the originals of all these DIR's at one place using Product structure.
Or can we atleast create a link between Master DIR and all child DIR's.
Please giude me.

Hi,
as far as I know there is no way to check out a product structure, but you can check out a document structure.
If you DIR has a bill of documents, you can use the BAPI CheckOutView2. The parameter GetStructure determines weather the structure is read or not.
- GetStructure = 0 Document structure is not read
- GetStructure = 1 Document structure is exploded one level
- GetStructure = 2 Document structure is exploded completely

CV03n modification in product structure

In CV03N Transaction we can see product structure.
There in the product tree, Source document is displyed.
Is there any way that we can stop the source document from appearing in the product structure?

You could also try FM PVSHI_PNCMP_READ.
Add the Node_ID to table componentnodedata. The table componentrelation will give you all the relationships (downward and upward).

Error when trying to run UCM from browser -The portal page for your Content

Hi
When I try and run the UCM in a browser using "http://localhost/idc", it showing
"The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."
I did see a previous message that says to go to Weblayout Editor Applet - Options - Build Home Page - Update -Ok, but I was not able to see the Build Home Page option in the drop down.
Any ideas what may be causing this issue?

I have installed this product on two environments following the same kind format.
In our dev environment I am able to type in the following to get to the Welcome to Content Server Page
http://devenv/idc/
In the other environment I use the following and I get that the error "The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."

So the only way to get to the Content Server Page is to type the full path as below which I don't want to do, because I want the welcome screen to appear first.

Is there a way I can configure the application to get to my welcome screen instead of getting the error message detailed above?

I need a reliable browser for portal.

I have a portal sertup at the moment with Messenging, Calendar, Instant Messenging and the Tarantella add-on installed. My problem is the browser crashes all the time. Netscape Navigator 4.78 is the version I am using. Do you have any recommendations to use for this product because without a stable browser for this product it is useless to my staff.
Any help would be great.

PS Navigator 7 is coming out does this have the staminer to support Portal 3.0 SP3, or should I wait for Portal 6.0?

The main reason you would need JVM support is for SRAP/Gateway ( for running netlets/netfile etc ..) which is what you would need for netlet and netfile support. SRAP/Gateway is still not released for portal 6.0 and will be released shortly. I believe the planned support for it would be Netscape 6.2.x browsers with java plugins. Listing of all the plugins will be available through the release notes, currently testing for it is still in progress, hence I did not list the plugins we support.
I believe Satish gave corrent information based on the release notes for Portal 6.0, now referred to as the core portal which does not contain SRAP/Gateway.

Best practices for a development/production scenario with ORACLE PORTAL 10G

Hi all,
we'd like to know what is the best approach for maintaining a dual development/production portal scenario. Specially important is the process of moving from dev. to prod. and what it implies in terms of portal availability in the production environment.
I suppose the best policy to achieve this is to have two portal instances and move content via transport sets. Am I right? Is there any specific documentation about dev/prod scenarios? Can anybody help with some experiences? We are a little afraid regarding transport sets, as we have heard some horror stories about them...

It would be ok for a pair of pages and a template.
I meant transport sets failed for moving an entire pagegroup (about 100 pages, 1Gb of documents).
But if your need only deals with a few pages, I therefore would direclty developp on the production system : make a copy of the page, work on it, then change links.

Customising the navigation structure in the portal

Hi All,
Please help me in solving this issue
Requirement:Instead of two level navigation in the top level navigation and the sub levels in the detailed navigation requirement is all the levels should be in the toplevel navigation like the one in www.ibm.com
for example when we mouse over system administration it should show all the things under that like Transport,Monitoring etc in the table format and when i mouse over Transport it should show all the things under that in another table and so on.

My doubt is can we implement this requirement because there are two different iviews DetailednavigationIView and TopNavigationIView.can we combine these two iviews and create a single navigation structure.

I had seen ur other thread. In that thread u had specified that u had made the changes. does it work?
Anyway to make changes to the top level navigation (in case of levels)
Go to Portal Users --> Standard Portal Users in the portal catalog.
Open the Default FrameWork chose Properties
Set the "Number of Display Levels " according to u r requirement.
To change the detailed navigation level
Select the "Desktop InnerPage" select the iview "Detailed Navigation" --> Properties
Change the "Start at Level" value property to u r required value.
May this will solve u r problem in a simple way.
if u want to it like what u specifie in the thread u need to go through the Navigation API and develop it u r self.

Refreshing Studio Browser on Portal after SQL Backend Edit

I created two Studio Databases through the portal. I have a Data Submission Form for the first database and a Record Browser for the second database on a community page.
In SQL we have developed a couple of triggers in the tables of the PTStudio database which insert a record into the 2nddatabase (Studio table) when a record is submitted through the form for the 1stdatabase (Studio table). After running the Search Update and Document Refresh jobs, the new record shows up through Portal's record browser for the second database. Is there anyway to force the record to show up immediately in the record browser w/o having to manually run these jobs?How is anyone else out there handling this latency?
Also, we have a trigger that should deletethe record in the 2nd database when it is deleted in the 1st through the portal. In the SQL table in the PTStudio database, the record has been deleted, but it is still showing in that table's record browser through the Portal, even after Search Update, Document Refresh, and Weekly Housekeeping jobs have run. Any ideas?

I'm not an expert on C# or .NET, so unfortunately I can't comment on what the issue may be there. What I can suggest, however, are some alternate approaches. First, am I correct in assuming that you want a button that users can click on to force the cache to be flushed? If that's all you want, the following HTML should do the trick:

The one thing I would question, however, is why you'd want to force users to do this themselves. Ideally, this is something that should simply happen behind the scenes, transparently. The best way to do this would be directly from the trigger that you're using to modify the Studio tables. What you could do is use the xp_cmdshell extended stored procedure to call out to an external process. Although I suppose you could write some C# class to make an http request to the cache clear URL, it may be easier to just use something like wget. You can get wget here:

Control where WAD query opens (Browser or Portal)

Hi gurus,
a hyper link for a query which was built with WAD can be sent via E-Mail.
If the recipient has no portal the query opens in a web browser. Thats fine.
But if a additional SAP Portal is available currently the activated link opens in portal.
Could it be handled that the link opens only in web browser?
Where could this be adjusted?

If you really do not want to publish in the Portal, then you may have to de-activate or delete I-views which are created for these Queries. Because, Queries will be published in the Portal only by creating i-views.

How to show an iview based on browser or portal language

Is it possible to make an iview, page or workset visible for the user depending on the language he has logged on with? If he logs on with English an HTML document iview should be displayed, but if he logs on with the French language another iview should be showned and the English one should not be visible.
Any ideas how this could be done?

BOM Product Structure

Hi Gurus,
I have multi-level assembly ,in which some of the BOM components are text items. In tcode CSMB- BOM product structutre display the text items are not shown. I tried to change the layout,but could not figure it out. Is there is a solution for this?
