Product suggestion for future iTunes

I can't find where to send a product suggestion to Apple.
When listening to "live" albums (i.e. Oscar Peterson's "A Night in Vienna" or Eric Clapton's "Unplugged" etc...any album that's been recorded with applause between tracks)...the applause is often annoyingly loud. It would be great to be able to designate tracks as "recorded live" and have iTunes automatically reduce the playback volume for the applause. I realize this might be a challenge to get iTunes to recognize the applause vs. the music, but...that's my suggestion. This would be different than 'Sound Check' in that it would fade out (reduce volume/levels) for the applause only...not the entire track.
G5, iBook G4, G4, and a trusty old 7200/90   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I don't know how this would be done either, but I would imagine...
• it wouldn't be fool-proof (what is?)
• I think that most applause has some common audio attributes. If a song is checked by the user to make use of a "live applause filter", for example, it would 'listen' to the beginning/end of a track and match the audio against a filter of common applause audio attributes, and appropriately fade/reduce volume if there's a good filter match.
• program it to only allow the fade at the beginning/end of tracks--mid-song applause would remain as-is. I would think that should be easy enough.
• perhaps the program could 'learn' intuitively or be 'taught' by the user the applause attributes of each song ... for example: such-and-such song has an applause fade 0:06 into the beginning and 3:50 - 4:15 at the end. iTunes attempts automatic detection, then allows the user to 'tweak' what it came up with.
Just ideas. I have no idea about what I'm talking about...I know nothing about audio, programming, or much else...just a user with an idea for this.

  • Your "suggestions for future features" is broken??!!

I really just wanted to leave you a suggestion for future features. Your system took me to a page that said i needed to be on the most recent version but alas I am! You even tell me so when I go to firefox.com! Hmmmm...... a little problem there.
Regardless, here is the feature suggestion i wish to make:
You've done a fine job of cleaning up the top bar in 4.0 to make the most of new widescreen displays so that we have more space for the page content vs. the browser stuff. The deal is, virtually all sites still use only about a third of the page width leaving tons of wasted space on a full screen view. Why don't you offer a way to move all the browser navigation, tabs, and tools wherever i prefer - like running vertically down the left or right side of the massively empty pages i see on my 24" monitor and even my little 11" laptop monitor?

  • Suggestion for future release

Where should I post suggestions for future releases of SQL Developer or/and Data Modeler?
    Please give me a link.
    Thanx,
    Chris
    One suggestion for Data Modeler:
In the "Model Properties" of a relational model, there should be a "scripts" folder like in the "Table Properties".
In this script I'd like to generate some global statements for the DDL generation,
    for example:
before (=begin of generated script): set define off; alter session set nls_numeric_characters='.,'; nls-config
after (=end of generated script): commit; (when table inserts are used and no ddl-statement is following; otherwise you have to use 'commit' in each table-script; After the last table create (ddl-) statement there is no implicit 'commit')
I know, that I can edit the generated script to add my statements, but if you often generate code there is a good change to forget to change the script afterwards.

  • Scanner Suggestions for future support

Maybe I'm asking for the world, but I'm on my third scanner in the last 6 years. Does anyone have a suggestion for a scanner manufacturer, or price range, where I might be able to count on future support of drivers as the new OS releases come out? I have used the workarounds (VueScan), but I'd really just like to think in advance that I am buying a product that will be supported 2 years from now.

    Took no action.

  • Suggestion for future firmware release

Hi, I'm proud to be a possessor of an AirPort Extreme and I would reccomend some useful deficiencies for future firmware update.
The ability to specify DNS1 and DNS2 for DHCP Client (I don't want that AirPort resolve itself)
The ability to quickly turn off and on wireless for health and green respect.
I'm thinking at a small application that doesn't restart AirPort but only turn off and on wireless and wired host continue to work.
Obviously AirPort Extreme doesn't have any hardware button to turn off wireless, but this could be a great thing for future models of AirPort...
    Best regards!

Why not let Apple know directly about your suggestions?

  • Suggestion for Apple iTunes product: Karaoke

How about selling music videos in a karaoke format? Something that contained the lyrics in print, but did not contain the voice track. I know it would be a big hit at some of the parties I've thrown. It would be great to be able to connect a mic to my computer, put the digital audio through my home theater, and jam away with friends.

Sounds like fun! This is a user forum, but you can make suggestions directly to Apple at this webpage: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

    Read http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-suite-3-2-beta/suggestion/42076/n9-support
here is how they respond to our requests now.
"there's no such plan. Nokia Link is targeted for Nokia N9 users. As you've seen from comments by Pia, for Nokia N9 decision was to use new, lightweight desktop sideloading product."
    and how we thought,
"With the very limited functionality (lightweight?) of Nokia Link it is completely against that what customers want. We bought a high quality device which works quite well OTA but which is almost worthless when a company does not allow synchronizing an Exchange server due to security concerns.
I think Nokia does everything to prevent the N9 to become a very successful phone which sells better than all the announced and published WP **bleep**. This decision which was taken by someone to provide Nokia Link as the only connectivity software for the N9 is absolutely not customer oriented. Nokia was known to produce high quality innovative phones. Unfortunately this time is over."

  • Ideas for future iTunes improvements

Pardon me if some of these points are already covered, in which case I would appreciate links to solutions.
    1) The iTunes App Store could really use some fine-tuning. The categories are occasionally so broad that fine-tuning searches is difficult. For instance, "Music" is waaaayyyyy too broad not to be broken down into sub-categories, especially given that Mac and Apple are so deeply engrained in the general arts industry. I suggest:
    - Notation (displaying, composing, writing of sheet music);
    - Performance (instruments to play);
    - Recording (obvious);
    - Listening (managing audio files)...
...for starters, with option to apply more than one of these to an app at a time. BTW, I'm sure that experts using other types of apps could make similar statements.
    2) I swear I once found a pull-down menu containing "Previous Apps of the Week," but I can't find it anymore. Well, anyway, it's a good idea, more so if you don't save or memorize all your E-mail newsletters.
    3) In the left sidebar where you see the list of in-app purchase upgrades, it's really annoying not to be able to see the whole title of the upgrade. How about a mouse-over pop-up?
BTW, I normally use iTunes in full-screen at 1920 x 1080, and would appreciate scalable windows within iTunes for in-app file repositories.

Useful info. I never would have seen that there.
I would like to see more instruments (like guitar models), or saved settings. What would be great is if GB could somehow help duplicate settings of an existing track, or offer some idea of how to get there. All the instruments in Magic GB are real instruments (or saved as such) and you can't just delete the track and start playing.
If not in the app, then here would be a good place to store settings with sound files so that people don't have to reinvent the wheel every time they need a new instrument. For example, let's say I want a rockabilly or jazz guitar sound. It would be nice to have a preset configuration with all the settings optimized. For each guitar type (as an example) people could post tricks they have found.

  • Product suggestions for MagSafe

    1. reposition the magsafe connector -- My magsafe often falls out when I sit with the MacBookPro on my lap. I like to sit indian style, and because of it's position near the left corner of the notebook and fact that the magnet is weakest when flexed up or down, this causes it to fall out with the least bit of pressure against my leg. This could be easily fixed by (1) moving the connector position an inch further away from the corner (closer to the headphone jack), (2) changing the shape of the connector to round, square or vertically oriented.
    2. combo-connector magsafe dock -- When I got into work, I'm constantly surprised that Apple hasn't done a better job of allowing MacBookPros to dock in an office setting. I have to plug in the MagSafe power connector, ethernet cable, monitor cable, usb and firewire cables. And every time I get up from my desk to run off to a meeting, I have to unplug all these again, etc, etc. I would like to see Apple create a single (larger) MagSafe-like connector that connects all of these in one quick connection to an external dock. The external dock could be about the size of a power brick, allowing the monitor, keyboard, network and power to all be plugged into it. Then a single cable with magnetic connector could connect that to the notebook.
Apple: Please pass these ideas along to your product development team.

    Hi warrensomebody,
I actually like the magsafe connection where it is, at the end, but I'll go along with suggestion number 2 for sure, I'm surprised there isn't something like that out there already
    Cheers.

  • Can I make suggestions for new iTunes content here?

If not let me know. I just wanted to suggest Mystery Science Theater 3000. I love that show and if it were in iTunes I would buy every episode!

There is an official page for that:

  • I have a suggestion for Windows iTunes. Make a Widget for it.

Make a Widget that displays the lyrics to songs in a streaming fashion.
    Build it into iTunes.
It you want to get fancy, you can have a aero effect in the background of the streaming lyrics.
Where there can be video clips, or slideshows as a transparent background on the widget that's streaming the lyrics.
If you want to get fancier than that.
You can make it screen size,
If you want to get fancier that that.
Make it so that other people can create transparent backgrounds that can be added to a library, and upload them so iTunes users can access them easily using advanced search options.

The best way to submit a suggestion to Apple is through the iTunes feedback page. It'll be more likely to get to the appropriate people within Apple that way.

  • EA6900 Update and Two Suggestions for Future Firmware "Nice to Haves"

Hey, first off, I've been a user of Linksys Routers for many years now, so I am familiar with the different settings and other selections that you generally see on the firmware pages.  As to the EA6900, I am very, very PLEASED with how this router initially set up, along with the different pages in it's firmware.  With the one exception noted below, the pages and the various settings "flow" very well.  This baby is up and kickin and the house is literally dripping in both 2.4 and 5 GHz RF.  The DHCP Reservation and MAC Wireless Filtering Tables worked without a hitch.  The setup for FTP and NAS was simple!  BTW, the setup for FTP shares is far easier than what we had to do using the EA3000 firmware.  Kudos there!  I am using the router associated with a server that is hosting about 25 different wired devices throughout the house, with a Cisco SG-200-08 Smart Switch behind the router for the LAN, which is load balancing on a Teamed (2 NIC'S) 2GB Adapter .  The router grabbed Comcast's Native IPv6 and set that up flawlessly.  Here is the information on how all that went (read from the bottom up): http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28693387-IPv6-Dumb-Questions-About-My-IPv6-Goat-Roped-Hookup  Information on how the netwrk worked in Teaming  and LAG mode is here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/4071888#4071888
OK:, So, Mr. Linksys Firmware Developer, whoever and wherever you are, I have two suggestions on the user GUI that would make everyone's life a little easier next time the firmware is updated:
    1.  Please make it so numbers, particularly MAC and IPv6 numbers, can be copied and then pasted to another place in the firmware.  For example, in the Information tab of the Device Settings section, I should be able to copy MAC and IP numbers and then be able to paste them, say, in the DHCP Reservation Table. Other Linksys device firmware allowed for this.
    2.  For goodness sakes, PLEASE don't nest the Diagnostics tab under the Troubleshooting group.  It drives me nuts to think that getting the router's status, to ping or traceroute, or to do a firmware backup would be found in "Troubleshooting".  Suggest that all y'all just remove the Diagnostics tab to the far left side of the application and have that item as its own stand-alone group!
Then I will be most happy.  As if it really matters, BUT I wanted to give all y'all my perspective from a user way down in the day-to-day weeds. A most happy Boy otherwise.

  • Suggestion for future Match upgrade -- add a "force upload" function

I've been using the Match service since it went GA, last month.   I have a lot of CD rips, but also some vinyl needledrops and different masterings (i.e. The Beatles in Mono) which the Match functionality really has trouble with.    In the case of the Beatles Mono, it might upload some tracks but "match" others.  So my Beatles album ends up becoming half mono / half stereo in iCloud.
This is undestandable given the technology being used, but is still very frustrating. So my suggestion to Apple developers is to create an "force upload" function to their Cloud service, with the next Match revision.  This doesn't need to be enabled by default, but make part of the dropdown for a song or album to alow the user to use their specific local version, if the Match process doesn't work to their satisfaction.
What do you think?  Good idea or waste of developer resources?   I've already called Apple support with this suggestion, but I'm assuming that they are hesitant as it might give users the ability to eat up a ton of storage space on Apple's end, if it's abused.

The idea has merit, though a reluctance on Apple's part to implement, as you pointed out, might be argued based on additional server commitment. However, my guess is that as the matching process improves (crossing my fingers here), the storage requirement for the same number of users would go down, not up.  We read a lot more from people who want the songs to match for one reason or another than want the ability to eat up hours uploading.  I suppose Apple could put some hard limit on how much could be uploaded without the user paying more, if it really came to that.
On another subject, while you've gone through pieces of it in other posts, I would like a chance to pick your brain regarding your Audacity workflow, i.e. turntable/cartridge used, phono stage/preamp, A/D converter - well the whole ball of wax.  I've learned what I know through reading and by applying what I learned in radio & TV studios eons ago, so I'm sure having a dialogue with an actual human who's had better success than I in getting vinyl to match would be very helpful.
Because until I read some of your postings, I was under the assumption my limited success was better than what most were achieving, I detailed my process here.
