Product variant search

Hello,
I have created a configurable material 'test' and two variants 'variant1' and 'variant2' in the ECC system. I have transported all of them to ECC. But now I am not sure how to proceed with the variant search.What I mean is that in a transaction (e.g. service contract) exactly what needs to be done so that these two varianst 'pop' up on entering 'test' as a product and configuring the char values.
Kindly give me some leads.

Product Variants in CRM from R/3

Hi Everybody,
As you know that Product variant in CRM is material variant in R/3. A material variant is created when the available item is in stock.
Scenario.
I created a configurable material 'KMAT' in the material master in R/3 system . In the basic data screen, I assigned a material variant for the material. Set the characteristics value for the material variant. Once pressed save. The Material record got automatically downloaded from R/3 to CRM.
Now I openend the transaction 'COMMPR01' and entered the material. I could not see in the tab 'Product variant' the material variant which was created in R/3.
1.Any Clue why the material variant did not get transfered to CRM from R/3.
2. Which CRM table and which CDB table has data regarding Product variants.
CRM experts could you please share your knowledge with me.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Jothi,
Just double check these steps :
1. You have created Knowledged base Object in R/3
(tcode CU31 - CU33)
2. You have created Knowledged base runtine in R/3
(tcode CU34 - CU35)
Make sure that VALID FROM information in Knowledge Base Object must be greater than VALID FROM in Material Class.
3. Re-download material ID (if necessary)
4. Re-download SCE Object in CRM
If all steps above successfully run without any
error/warning message, you should be able see Tab Configuration + Variant in CRM Master Data (COMMPR01).
You can see also the Configuration Model in Configuration
Tab (where you can simulate the characteristic
configuration).

Product Variant?

Hello All,
I want to maintain Variants for a product in CRM using commpr01,
How do i maintain the variants to a product?
when i open the commpr01 and select a Product Category and flag material as Configurable,
the product Opens with new Tab pages 1.Configuration 2.Product Variants,
But i donot see any Maintainance available there..
How can i maintain the Variants ..

Hi Arshad,
For Variants you need to have ERP system as an backend as CRM standalone or Products created in CRM dont allow a Variant assignment for the Same.
If you are having an Backend ERP system you assign a Variant to the Base article and Dowload the same in CRM which shall appear as variant of the Main article in Relationship Tab.

Hello all. I want to ask a simple question. When I try to check if cyan update is available in my region on
"http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-europe/"
I see in Europe->Greece this:
Lumia 1020 Country variant 3051.40000.1345.1003 Available Available Under testing
So i see that there is a product code that is connected for Europe->Greece-> Var country. So i want to ask if anyone know what this product code is? After search i came up with no results. Thanks in advance!

Assuming your phone has this variant loaded get Nokia Software Recovery Tool and plug in the phone. It should also be on a small sticker on the SIM tray and on the box.

Product code search on shopping cart

Hi! I am trying to implement diect material procurement in SRM (SRM7). I have created some materials and replicated successfully to SRM. When I create a shopping cart and click on the search hel p for product id, it is showing the logical system of the SRM system and nothing will show up when I do a search. If I change to the ECC logical system (which is right since the material originates from ECC), I can see the materials.
So, my question is how can I get the system to defaults to ECC logical system rather than SRM so that it saves the user having to change the logical system each time they search?

Hi,
In Monitor Shopping Cart, I am clicking on search product category to search the availble product cateogry
It is showing all the product cateogry, some of which not required
for Example :It is showing R3MATCLASS and R3PRODSTYP product cateogry
My question is
1) How I can restrict R3PRODSTYP product category
2) Can I restrict R3MATCLASS product category also individually in search

after debugginng, I found that the hirarchy data is calling from
table ;comm_category and comm_prcat
and
The field Product Category (CATEGORY_ID) has search help(COM_CAT_HIER)

Microsoft product specific search criteria in WUA API.

I am trying to implement one use case for searching Windows updates using WUA APIs.
I am able to search available update using some criteria like "IsInstalled=0". I followed "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa386526%28VS.85%29.aspx" for criteria pattern format but here I am not able to construct search criteria
to find updates specific to one product only like MS Office, IE, Windows Defender etc.
Please let me know if someone has information about product specific criteria to search updates.

I got these GUID from WSUS specific database.
Okay. Just because there's an identifier in the database does not mean it's accessible via the API. You seem to be assuming capabilities exist that are not expressly documented.
Could you please share the way to capture same or some link where I can have correct GUID specific to MS products.
No, I cannot. Product Categories are not pre-defined, and thus could not be documented. They're created, as needed, and as such are dynamically assigned a GUID at the time of creation in the catalog.
The page I provided the link for is the sum total of documentation available for this function. Nothing on that page suggests or implies that you can query the API by Product Category, and considering their dynamic creation nature, that makes absolutely
perfect sense to me.

IPC Configurable products and Search by characteristic

Hi all,
I have set up Configurable products for opportunities and quotations.
Now I have one question, if I want to search opportunities by product, it is possible in the standard search of opportunities/quotations. But if I want to search by a characteristic value of that product, how do I proceed? Is there a solution?

You have to read up on "Navigation Attributes." Marking the attributes of a chracterstic "navigable" in the InfoProvider makes that attribute searchable.

May I know how to deactivate product status eg: Locked, Delete etc for product search in web UI?

    I completed your requirement in component PRD01QR . My steps are as follow :
1.Go to PRD01QR in TA BSP_WD_CMPWB .
2. Click the button 'Ehance Component' .Write a bsp application name Z* in the popup windows .
3.click next .
4. Go to view PRD01QR/search .
5.Right click the view and click the "Ehance" ,then you can see a custom controller class ZL_PRD01QR_SEARCH_IMPL .
6. Double click the class ZL_PRD01QR_SEARCH_IMPL then find the method GET_DQUERY_DEFINITIONS .
7 redefine the method and write the code as follow :(hide all status except "locked") :

Product variant constraint in SNP optimizer run

I have a business scenario where I require a constraint on the number of FG variants produced per day. A number of FG SKUs come under a particular variant. On any day the factory is able to produce only a fixed number of variants (say 5). I am looking for a way to map this constraint in optimizer run.

In firefox I cannot use the search engine, like to order a product or search it seems to be in the upper half of screen

in firefox. Icannot use the search engine in the screen and I cannot order anything as well. I get the cursor arrow insted of the I symbole.. I even reloaded firefox too. Can some one help?

This might be another pain in the rear question, but I am
looking for a way to globally replace text throughout all topics.
Does Robo have a way to search through ALL topics so that I
can replace text? (This isn't something right now that can be
handled via snippets or variables as the original text is not in a
variable or a snippet. We've decided to change some phrasing and I
am looking for keywords that I can highlight/find so I can reword
the text. I very well may be able to insert snippets or variables
during editing, but will want to locate all instances of a

RoboHelp does offer a utility called Multi-file find and
replace. But it's probably only reliable for single words. If you
want something fancier and more robust, consider BK ReplacEm or
FAR.

Using the T-code SE38 and with the Program RCU_EXCL_CHARACTERISTICS, if we select the characteristics which has to be excluded using selection of Configurable material charcteristics, after running this program, the characteristics those have been eliminated are also gets selected for Material Varaint .
Kindly solve this issue.

MaxField Rankings for Product Search

I'm currently tweaking our default search relranking for my company. I'm fairly happy with the modules in place right now, but there are some issues I'm having trouble with. Here is the RelRank strategy I'm working with:
Static (Stock Status)
NTerms
MaxField
Glom
Exact
While overall this is working well, there are odd searches that seem to throw it off. A search for "Graphics Card" for instance, I'm getting results from Desktops and other categories due to "Graphics Card" being present in the Product Name, which is our highest ranked field for MaxField. So my real question is this, should Product Name always be the highest ranked field in MaxField? Or is there an argument to make it something like category name to assist searches like this one? I have a feeling this may be an area where changing the MaxField rankings will throw off our search in unforeseen ways.
For those out there running a product based search, what are your thoughts?

I found a part of the solution so I share it to save you some time:
We have made following steps
1/ delete indexes on TREX server with
XC1\i$\usr\sap\XC1\TRX18
\Trexadmin.bat
2/ Stop TREX
3/ Modify file
XC1\i$\usr\sap\XC1\TRX18\<server>\topology.ini
Replace this two lines:
token_separator=\/;,.:-_()[]<>!?*@+{}=
number_separator=\/;:-_()[]<>!?*#$&@+{}=
by
token_separator=*
number_separator=*
4/ Restart Trex
5/ Create new indexes
It's now working as expected. But the space is still seen as a word separator (even if there is no space behind the * in the line token_separator=*)
Any idea for this part ?
