Production application server crash
Hi,
Today the application server crashed and unfortunately there was no backup also. A month before Production was cloned to development. As far as the patches are concerned, both are at same level.
The database server is fine and running. Can I copy the application from the development and make the production up and running? To do this I feel that the following should be done -
a) Run adpreclone on the development application server
b) copy the files from development to Production
c) Run adcfgclone on the Production server
DB: 10.2.0.4
Apps: 11.5.10.2
Thanks.
Jek

c) Run adcfgclone on the Production serverYes, you can (provided that no patches have been applied or any modifications have been done on the application tier node since then).
Please note that you will be losing all the log/out files under $APPLCSF/$APPLLOG and $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT directories. So you may not be able to view the concurrent requests log/output files and the CM/Workflow (and other services) log file since the other instance was cloned.

Oracle Application Server crashes due to Socket Write Error
I am using Oracle Application Server 9.0.3. Simple JSP application is running on it. We are using the application server connection pooling functionality. Following errors are occuring on it frequently and it causes the application server crash.
First application response gets slow and eventually application server gets lock and it wont respond and we have to restart the application server. Our application is in production mode and we need to solve this issue immediately.

Application server crashes when using JCO
Hi,
I am currently dealing with JCO Version 2.1.8.
For testing purposes, I want to receive data from a Remote Function Module existing in our SAP development system.
Therefore I created a simple Java servlet:
public class POA_EDS_Servlet extends HttpServlet {
private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
response.setContentType("text/html");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
out.println("<html>");
protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
response.setContentType("text/html");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
String uri = request.getParameter("uri");
JCO.Client connection;
connection = JCO.createClient("200",
"DAHMSMA",
"EN",
"vmw3063.wdf.sap.corp",
"00");
try {
connection.connect();
catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
System.exit(1);
After deploying and when running this servlet, the application server is crashing. That means I have to restart the server via Remote Desktop Connection.
Can anybode provide some help?
Regards
Marco

Can you please paste your defaultrace.log here. This log file will show the exception occured before the crash.
For better debugging always using a logging mechanism and log the messages to a particular file.

Anyone will have the detail of bug ID 6245922?
It is one of the bug fixs in "Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 2005Q2 Update 2 Release Notes"I'm getting the same problem, except if I try to run as administrator then iTunes wants to erase all of my music on the iPod and set it to blank. I normally do not use the administrative account for anything other than administrative tasks.

Cannot start 2nd form on same application server when starting script in 1s
Hello,
we have a forms application running on a productive application server and the same application for different testing db's on a test application server.
Within this application I can start a stored procedure that writes a spreadsheet via utl_file. Depending on the parameters used this might last 1 - 2 hours. When I start the procedure the forms application is blocked as expected until the procedure is finished. This would be no problem if there wouldn't happen a strange thing to some users: When they start the procedure every forms application on the same application server is blocked. This means they can work in production when they start the procedure in test environment but they can not open another test application and vice versa.
As this only happens to some users (yet always the same) I'm lost where I have to search. I found no differences on the client machines, these are installed by a central administration tool.
Has anyone an idea where I can start searching?
Regards
Marcus

Oracle CORE 9.0.1.2.0 ProductionHello,
I first wondered why this is happening only to some users. Now I found that it depends on the habit how the application is called.
The applications are called from IE with separateFrame=TRUE.
While I have a link in my XP start menue for every application and therefore start IE anew every time, other users use a website which has the same links. The difference I saw is, that I get a Java console for every application, whereas applications started from the same instance of IE share the same Java console.
So now we have a workaround (start IE again) but I still don't know why this is happening at all.

Oracle application server 10.1.3 not starting after crash
Hi, I've been struggling with starting up application server 10.1.3 on Windows XP Professional SP2 following a system crash (power outage). When we restarted the machine we noted that the database wasn't coming up because our redo logs were full. We backed up the database with RMAN (freeing the logs) and the database started without a problem.
We then tried to log into application server control from the website but were faced with a connection error. It is definitely the correct page as it was bookmarked on the server. I cannot start application server from the command line using opmnctl. Here is the output:

I'm not sure where to go from here, I've tried stopping the oracle services manually and starting them up in various orders. We have the following services running:
Oracle-appservProcessManager Started
OracleDBConsoleTSTONE Started
OracleJobSchedulerTSTONE Disabled
OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus Started
OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener Started
OracleServiceTSTONE Started
I'm sort of at a loss for where to go from here, help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
RezaHere you have it.

URGENT - WL server crash in production - Native performance pack ??
Hi,
We are experiencing periodic crashes in our production environment of the
nature where WLS just stops running and exits out, i.e. the JVM exits
abruptly. Many times we have seen http tunneling / socket related exception
just before the crash occurs.
Following is our configuration -
WL 4.5.1 service pack 13
JDK 1.1.7B
OS: Windows NT 4.0, sp 5
Oracle 8.1.5 with Oracle Thin drivers for JDK 1.1.7
Native IO : true i.e we are using the NT performance pack.
The latest exception that we have seen is as under -
Wed Jan 24 11:01:46 EST 2001:<E> <HTTP> Servlet request terminiated with
RuntimeException:
Wed Jan 24 11:01:46 EST 2001:<E> <HTTP> java.lang.NullPointerException
at weblogic.socket.TunnelContext.getServlet(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.socket.MuxableSocketHTTP.invokeServlet(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.socket.MuxableSocketHTTP.execute(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.t3.srvr.ExecuteThread.run(Compiled Code)
This seems to be a problem related to the use of performance pack and native
sockets during HTTP tunneling. In the latest crash, we got the exception
pasted above and the server crashed about 2 seconds after that. We have seen
things in the recent past where we get a HTTP tunneling related exception
and the server exits immediately afterwards.
Is anybody using the native performance packs in their production
environment on the above mentioned configuration? Has anybody seen this kind
of behaviour? Does anybody have any input on the use of native performance
pack (nativeIO) and its pitfalls in WLS 4.5.1 and sp 13 or otherwise?
Some research and investigation from our side has revealed the following
(hope it helps, but want to know more and for sure) -
In the weblogic.socket.NTSocketMuxer.java, there is an infinite loop that
tries to send HTTP tunnel keep alive messages to the clients. There it tries
to get the TunnelServlet to send the message. It gets a runtime exception
(the one in the trace above) but that is caught and the loop goes on. But on
the next pass through (in about 2 secs. or so), it makes a some native calls
(getNextSocket(), deleteIoStructure() and memcpy() which are all native
methods). Experience says that all native calls are prone to serious
problems.
So, does anybody have any info./solution/suggestion to shed some light on
this issue. This is an urgent issue as it is affection the production
environment.
Thanks in advance.
-SGNo, this is not currently available. FWIW, native io only helps when you
have a lot of sockets.

I know about increasing thread pool size on a client and socket readers
but
was hoping we could use native.

SUN JES 8.1 Q2UR2: Intermittently application server jvm crashed.
Application server jvm intermittently crashed but due to the feature in SUN JES 8.1 ur2 the application server will auto restarts the service. Most of the JVM crashes were due to memory corruption.
The following are SUN findings:
1) Multithreading issue that causes 2 threads writing on the same memory block
2) Based on dtrace, it indicated that there was a race condition happens but the jvm doesnt crash during the occurrence.
Questions:
1) Is it possible that I can use dtrace to monitor the memory block or to find out the root cause?

The following are SUN findings:Meaning Sun (the company) and not you or someone else determined this?
csgan97: From Sun support engineer
1) Multithreading issue that causes 2 threads writing
on the same memory blockSo? That might indicate a bug in your code. By itself it doesn't mean that it caused the crash.
csgan97: If there is a bug, we would like to identify it. All findings are hypothesis and we still dont have evident to really prove that is multithreading issue. Is it possible to use dtrace to track?
2) Based on dtrace, it indicated that there was a
race condition happens but the jvm doesnt crash
during the occurrence.Again so? I wouldn't expect that to cause a crash.
csgan97: Why? During the jvm crashed, the dtrace monitoring doesnt indicate any race condition. It only indicated twice but during that time the jvm doesnt crash.
DriverName: [Oracle JDBC driver]
URL: [jdbc:oracle:thinIf it is memory corruption then it would be a JVM bug not this driver because it is java only.
If you have any JNI or 3rd party libraries that use JNI then those are the most likely source.
csgan97: A far as we know there isnt any JNI or 3rd party libraries that use JNI. -

2014-01-10 01:01:29.833 WARNING J2EE SECUR-00100 ********** user-manager (see application/server descriptors) will no longer be supported in the next release
of this product!I just checked my BIOS and my current setting is set at IDE although it also mentions that the default should be AHCI. Currently I have a dual boot of Windows 7 (need it for Tax software) and Arch
So I guess, when I get the new HDD, I will first set it to AHCI and then install the OSes on it. See if NCQ helps any, and if not I will turn it back and re-install (if I have to). I am planning to have Windows only in virtualbox in the new drive.
Anyhoo, while I was in the BIOS I found two things which I had questions about :
1) Under Onboard Devices --> Integrated NIC , my setting is currently set at "On w/PXE" and it says the default should be just "On". Would it be ok to change it back to On since its a single machine and its not booting an OS on any server. I just don't want to have to re-install anything now since I will be doing that in the new HDD.
2) How would I know whether my BIOS would support a 64 bit OS in Virtualbox? I checked some setting under Virtualization, but they weren't very clear.
I will edit this post and let you know exactly what settings were present under the Virtualization sub-section. -
How to deploy a Flex application (Server Type ColdFusion) to production
I have built a flex application using Flash Builder 4.6. It utilizes ColdFusion Flash Remoting for its data services. When first setting up the data services I had to set a bunch of properties in the flex server section. Which I am not sure are all correct but the app does run and connect to the data services. They were:
Application Server type: ColdFusion
Use remote object access service
ColdFusion flash remoting
Server Location:
Deployed to Java application server
Web Root: v:\inetpub\testFlex
Root URL: http://myDevServerIP/
ColdFusion Was folder: v:\CF9\JRun4\servers\testFlex\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war
My question is now when I'm ready to deploy to my production machine and load the app onto a tablet or other computer, obviously the Root URL will be different something like http://myLiveURL.com. Is this the only thing I change? Do I even change it here or is there some other location? Any other things I need to change?
Thanks!
Your help is much appreciated!All the paths to CFCs are the same in my live production site. Can you be more specific as to what you mean by "RemoteClass aliases in your AS Classes and CFCs (if any) are correct."? How will the app know that the CFC is on http://myLiveSite.com instead of http://myDevSite.com? The only line of code that I have noticed that points to a URL is the endpoint in a file called _Super_XXX.as. And at the top of that file it says that the file is not meant for editting.
To clarify...I see your app/code all exists on a server access via a web browser so I can understand that everything still works when deployed. Mine is a mobile app so when I am developing and testing on my local computer the URL points to my local development machine. However when I deploy it to a mobile device like a tablet and run the app, it needs to be able to access a cfc on a remote server via a different URL ie. my http://myLiveSite.com/myCFC.cfc instead of http://localhost/myCFC.cfc
Thanks for your help! I will now take a look at your thread.

ORA-12560 TNS:Protocol Adapter Error and ORA-12557 Error
Hello , I have installed Oracle 11.2.0 64 bit database on my Windows 7 ( Home Premium) PC which is also 64 bit. I installed it because I am trying to setup Informatica. Later, I learnt that informatica is 32 bit and can not communicate to Oracle 11.2
