Production enviroment deployment

Hi there,
Our company wants to substitute DECT phones with WP8 smartphones. After running a few tests we found that the Lync app was not the most practical of apps to communicate in a production enviroment, what do you guys suggest? Should we wait for WP8.1 or an
update of the Lync app? Any other ideas?

Hi
I need an expert advice on setting up timelines for establishing an Oracle Apps Production environment. We are implementing Oracle HR & Payroll at an organization.
Our system architecture is a 2-node application tier and 2-node DB tier (RAC). RAC is configured by another party and we only have to prepare the application tier (2 nodes)
We would be installing Oracle Apps R11i (11.5.10) with jserv load balancing on the 2-nodes
Can anyone suggest how much time this should take to install/configure & patching of the application tier (on 2 nodes)?

Critical Q:Moving whole portal from UAT enviroment to PRODUCTION enviroment

Greeting all,
after few months of upgrade implementation from DEV > TRN > UAT
now, we are planning to move everything to PROduction enviroment.
But i have a serious concern. This is not a fresh implementation but an upgrade project (which mean there are lots of production data, settings in production environment)
What i did so far,all the clean up, configuration of Content references, permission list, role tied with employee in UAT enviroment (it took me weeks).
And i am very sure that, there are
- few NEW roles should be tie to certain user moving forward,
- content references are created and deleted.
- certain permission list are dropped an created and tie to roles
- user will hold some new roles
So far, the changes above are done in UAT enviroment, question is, how can i move ALL mentioned above to Production enviroment?
I couldn't spend another weeks to do this dirty job manually.
but if i am using app designer to dump ALL content references, menus, permission list, roles, will it create any issue? coz it's production enviroment (not a fresh implementation), overwrite of the production data is secure enough? coz i cant afford to lost the production data
anyone here did this procedure before? or any helpful resource available?

But one thing bugging me is, to move the user roles
i would like to simulate the senario
UAT env:
number of emp : 1000
emplid : "123" is holding role "roleA", "roleB", "roleC"
But in PROduction env:
number of emp : 1200 (200 new emp)
emplid : "123" is holding role "roleA", "roleB", "roleX"
how am i going to move this from UAT > PRO?
almost 2 weeks spent in cleaning up user's permission list, role in UAT env.
So my question is, how can i move the senario above from UAT > PRO?
another senario
i have remove, create, move many content references in UAT, lots of remodeling of content references, and permission lists are create, drop
how can i handle that?

Maintain tables v_t521b and v_521c_b payee keys in production enviroment

One of our clients has requested as to open tables v_t521b and v_521c_b in the production enviroment to create and maintain payee keys for garnishees and court orders in south african payroll. Is this advisable or not because if these tables are open up by basis, then everything would be open for changes.

This can be done for some production issues. BASIS people can give access for that particular table or view alone for a particular id.
Based on the roles provided for that id, tables can be maintained.

Can't see jpeg image in production enviroment

Hi
I created a form tha uses READ_IMAGE_FILE to load the company's logo in the form. I saved the image on $ORACLE_HOME/forms, I don's use a path in the image just the file name, and it works perfectly. When I move it to $ORACLE_HOME/forms in my production enviroment on Linux with a fresh 10.1.2.3 install it doesn't show on the form. The image's name is in lower case and the form reference as well.
Any ideas?

There likely is a case sensitivity issue or when you did not correctly remove the path reference when you generated the fmx.
The search path for the image appears to be the FORMS_PATH. So, in your FORMS_PATH, ensure that ORACLE_HOME/forms is first in the list. However, do NOT enter the variable name in default.env when setting the value. You must fully qualify the entry. In other words this is NOT correct:
FORMS_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/forms:/u01/ourapp

FORMS_PATH=/oracle/product/as10/forms:/u01/ourapp

SQR - Production reporting deployment in standalone mode

Hi,
I am an essabse developer/admin , and never worked with SQR - production reporting. Now here is an urgent need of an upgrade from version 8 to 9 or 11 for this tool. When i read the oracle documentation they say, we need workspace and HSS. But my question is can we deploy sqr - production reporting in standalone mode like how we do for essbase.
Also if any body has installed , any answer can be helpful thanks!!

you can install the PR-client/ PR-studio only. All pure SQR/ PR functionality is in it. But off course you can not mke use of the job and publish functionality.
There is also commandline utilty to overcome most of the missing parts.

Can I use Oracle 10g XE in my production enviroment

Hello All,
Please can somebody help me here. I would like to know if I can use Oracle 10g XE for my Production Software Development? If yes, can somebody help with the following:
a) Can I access the oracle database XE from a remote system without installing it on the calling system? I mean accessing it from a .NET Application installed on a client?
b) How many rows, table, views and other stuffs can it handle. Just to know how strong it is.

Problems to see Flow Trace in production enviroment

I have any problems to see the process flow trace from production Enterprise Manager but from development environment I can see it correctly
Environment informations:
· Development environment:
Virtual machine in vmware ESXi 4.1 con S.O. Linux Suse Linux Enterprise 11 de 64 bits.
· Production environment:
Two virtual partition in IBM power5+ con S.O. AIX 6.1 TL6 y PowerHA 6.1
When I want to see in production environment the Audit Trail tab or Flow tab from process instance, I can't it because the page is white.

Error while importing the ODI Package from Development to Production Enviroment

Hello Everybody,
Currently I'm face the problem when import ODI models (from Development) to Production environment
And the error show follwing error:
ODI - 23040 Import file "C:/BIAPPS_Package/Models/XyZ.xml" error
please help.

Do the user performing the import have permissions to import models to the production environment? I'd also mention that you would have a better setup if your production environment only held executables such as scenarios, load plans etc. and not development objects. It leads to better change control management and simplifies the migration process from DEV --> PROD

How Do I Create A Test Windows DC In A Production Enviroment

I would like to create a test DC with a different domain and forest but within a production network. It's not in the same IP range as the main DC but still within the network. The main DC is on the 192.168.30.xx network and the test DC would be on the
192.168.60.xx network with the DNS pointing to itself. Since the main DC does read and pick up machines on the 60 network also, am I opening myself up to conflicts of interest between the two DCs? Is there actually a way to make this work? I just don't
want to open Pandora's box.

This is not a problem as long as you promote the new DC in new forest/domain with a diffrent DNS name and netbios name than the production forest/domain. a DC dosen't pick clients, it's the other way arround, clients choose the domain they should join.

List of Developer Keys in the production enviroment

Can anybody tell me how to obtain a correct list of users with developer keys. There are currently two ways of getting a list of users with developer Keys
(1)Generate a list through the SAP support portal.
(2)Obtain a list of names in the DEVACCESS table.
Which is the correct method to use? my understanding was that all developer keys are on the "SAP support portal", and once a user uses their developer key the entry is added to the DEVACCESS table, is this correct?

I do not think that there is one "correct" way on getting this, it depends on your requirement.
If you take it from the SAP support Portal, it will give you the users id's who potentially would have the possibility to do development in your system. But it will not tell you, if they have received it, or if they have access to your system at all.
If you take it from DEVACCESS, these developers have been doing some development in your system - <i>"The Guilty ones "</i>, (or at least has tried to enter a workbench object in create/change mode). But based on this list you can't be sure that new developers won't popup, but again this should be controlled by your security setup / the authorizations granted

I have a jsp, say header.jsp. It has,say 2links. All these links have different URL's based on the environment this jsp is deployed.

        Problem: For system testing, we need to deploy the code in test/staging and developement servers before it goes into production. Right now i have only one JSP. If i follow my lame procedure, i have to create 3 JSP's for each environement and deploy it in three diff env.Is there a better way?. How to eliminate the duplicate and redundant code in jsp. If the URL's change, need to change at 3 places.Its a big maintenece mess too.
Insted of making three different jsp's for each environment, i want to use single jsp and dynamically figure out the enviroment and generate the urls appropriately. That way we need to maintain only one JSP. No matter where its deployed(test/stage/dev) the URL's are dynamically generated.

Check the action part of the html form tag. On problem I see is in the dev environment you had file.jsp under /jsp but in the production you have it under /dir. This could just be a typo.

I have custom solution deployed using WSP file. But I have done some changes using sharepoint designer.
Like as Designer workflow, master pages etc.
How can I deploy my document libraries and list to dev to prod using best practices?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to know the best practices to deploy SharePoint Portal in different SharePoint environment.
If the site is not existing in the production server, we can save the site from the development server, and then import it to the production server.
But if the site is already existing in the production server, we should follow these steps to just add the taxonomy and content types to the production server:
Save the site from Dev as a template
Import the template as solution in Visual Studio
Remove unnecessary items from the solution(Please pay more attention on it. If a content type/list... in the solution is existing in the production site too, it will replace the
same object existing in the production after deployment)
Package the solution
Deploy the solution in the production

I have created one interface which loads the data from source('src_table') to target('trg_table'). Its working fine. Now I want to schedule this Interface( Which loads data on daily basis). How could i achieve this ?
After scheduling the Interface Want to deploy this interface at production.

1) What are the basic requirements to deploy this(Project) on production machine ?
2) Is there need to install ODI on production machine ?
3) How to deploy existing created project in Production ?

Hi,
Create a scenario out of the interface or put that interface in a package and create scenario of that package.
Then you can schedule the scenario to run daily .
You need to have ODI installed at your production.
You can export scenario from dev and import that in prod.
