Production Gear Database

There's a database (list) of what gear people are using for their shows at the Podcasters' Wiki. It's great to see different set-ups and then hear how they sound.

Hi Krishna Prasad,
Presentation Layer - This is what SAP GUI is all about..ie.SAP Easy Access is called the Presentation Layer
Application Layer - This is the SAP server(wherein DEV,QUAL and PRD) will come into picture..This is interlinked with SAP Easy Access for the Business users only to fetch the data to the end user in the desired format whereas the configuration/changes ideally happen here.
Database Layer - This is your backend database which may be Oracle or SQL server based on the volume of the data(Like all the data needs to be stored in the form of individual fields in different tables based on the functionality)
Hope it helps.

  • Production and database

    hi gurus
iam confused pls tell me what is the difference between production and database server. or both are same. because all customizations and configurations are trasported to production server, later will be done golive. but one of my freinds that database server contains customizations and master records which is nothing but production server. so consultants point of view it is production server and enduser point of view it is database server. pls clarify the link clearly between dev, qual and prod ; database, application and presentation

  • Problems installing cs3 production premium: database corrupt

I have a new computer with windows 8.
On my old computer i used Premiere Pro CS3, now i tried Premiere Elements 11. I´m not happy with it so i deinstalled it and tried to install the CS3 production premium on the new Computer.
When I insert the disk and click on install an error appers immediately: "The installation database is corrupt."
I found out that there is an "Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" so i used it, but this doesnt resolve my error.
What do I have to do to install the CS3 Production Premium?
    Oliver

Manually delete the caps.db in the caps folder:
    Important Directories
Bob does have a point, though. Installing and using CS3 on Win8 is going to be all sorts of trouble, regardless.

  • Product list/database in flash

I'm in the planning phase of building a product database/list
in flash. It is suppose to be a pop-up from a HTML page and is only
to contain product information. The key elements are:
    - Product name
    - Product image
    - Description
    - Article number(s)
    - Price
The first thing the user must do is to choose withs sub
category and then thumbnails generates with product names below.
When the user clicks the product article numbers, (larger
image), price, decription appears in another panel.
    Issue 1:
Whats the best way of handling this amount of data in flash
(thumbnails, text ...) in scrollable panels? Is it in some kind of
component or is it to have mc containers with dynamic content.
    Issue 2:
Data source. XML or database? If I use XML, do I still have
to have a database in the back if it is suppose to be updatable
    from another UI?
    Any pointers?
    /E

What you want is to learn to use flash remoting. There are many ways to do this. If you're just starting out you can use this chain of events:
    Flash to Php/Coldfusion/.Net to mySQL
This would be the process to write data:
    To read you would:
Flash to PHP to mySQL to PHP to Flash.
Essentially flash calls the serverside language (one of the three, I provided, probably are others) and inside the language there is a function or code that calls the database to get the data. The data is returned to the server side language and then back to flash as a result.
If you learn to do this you become a much more valuable Flash designer because there is almost nothing you cannot do.
I've been doing this for years and have made a nice business out of it. I use Coldfusion for my server side language because I like keeping all my data in it's original datatype. I get the data back in a nice result package that is easy to manage in Flash.
Here's a site that I built that is fully dynamic and database controlled:
    http://designyournautique.com
I hope this helps. Flash is pretty weak with doing actual work, but on purpose. You even need a server side language to send an email with flash.

  • SAP Production Systems Database backup failed

    Dear Guru,
I have been facing a problem with our SAP Production system's oracle database backup for last three days. Our back up goes through TSM server. At night 10 pm we have schedule backup for whole offline + redo log backup,  11 pm check and update optimizer statistic and at 11:30 pm Check Database. For last three days above mentioned backup getting failed and we are not able to get such a details log by which i can understand the issue. But Our Development server and Quality server's backup which are scheduled at 12 am and 2 am, the both backup schedules finish successfully. And in morning all schedule backups of Production systems finish without any errors. The issues is coming only with Whole database backup + redo log Backup which schedule at night 10 pm. I have mentioned the log whatever i have got in below:
    07.02.2012     07:30:06     Job started
07.02.2012     07:30:06     Job has exceeded its latest start date
07.02.2012     07:30:06     Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
Above mentioned logs are showing 1day advance log where i have mentioned yesterdays log. That means it should shows 06.02.2012 instead of 07.02.2012 and time should be 22:00:00 instead of 07:20:06.
Our Oracle version is 10.2.0.4.0/ kernel release 701/BRBACKUP 7.00 (40)
    Please Guide me.
    Regards,
    Samrat Chakraborty

    OK,
this has nothing to do with brbackup or TSM.
You batchjob starts at 07:30 !!!
Means before that, you do not have any action at all.
Then the job crosschecks it has passed its intended startdate and terminates,
which is correct, since you do not like brbackup to shut down your DB at 07:30!
No brbackup is started at all, which is why you get no log and no tsm connect takes place.
I assume,  you misconfigured some operationmodes and at 07:30 an OP-modeconfiguration
with batchjobs switches back in place so that the jobs do start too late.
Check RZ04 and the OP mode timetable
If it is not this, it has to be something else with the batch scheduler causing delay
or may be all BTC processes are busy, but this seems unlikely with a start at 07:30 sharp..

  • Any recommendations on productivity for database and project management, Bento was good but no longer sync with ical and address book

I've unfortunately updated to the new Bento on MakBook and iPad and synced my data and in the process it tells me that iCal and Address books will not sync any more.  I have several projects I am working on and looking for something that will syn with iCal, address book and Busy Cal to manage my  time efficiently and seamlessly. Help?

I think you're in the wrong forum - this is for developers, who write programs for apple products.
As for Bento, their problem is due to Apple's changes in the API.  The code that syncs with calendars and contacts is now deprecated, which means at some point in the future, it will no longer work.  This problem will affect all developers, so you probably won't find any replacement for Bento.

  • SID NAME FOR PRODUCTION & STANDBY DATABASE IN DATA GUARD

  • Applying patch to production databases

    Hello,
If I had 5 production 9i databases and 1 development 9i database and I need to do patches on the production databases. Can I patch the one 9i development database and then from development database rsync the ORACLE_HOME to the 5 production databases?
Or do I repeat the patch process on each production database?
What is the process for patching exact verion of 5 or more production databases?

    >>I had 5 production 9i databases and 1 development 9i database and I need to do patches on the production databases. Can I patch the one 9i development database and then from development database rsync the ORACLE_HOME to the 5 production databases?
You will need to install the patches on every server seprately even its on same OS.because u need to run a patch script after installing the software.and no software cloning is supported by oracle till 9i.

  • APEX Application accessing data from two different databases

    Hi All,
Currently as we all know that APEX Application resides in database and is connected to the schema of that database.
I want APEX Application to be running and accessing data from two different databases. Elaborating my question,
Currently, my APEX Production Application is connected with XXXX Schema of DB1 Database(Where APEX Resides). Now I want to add some pages into this APEX Application for REPORT Purpose, But I want to connect this REPORT APEX Pages to get data from Different Schema YYYY for Database DB2.
Is it possible to configure this scenario?
The reason for doing this is to avoid the REPORT related (adhoc queries) resource utilization effect on Production DB1 Database.
    Thanks
    Nil

    1. If you do the joining of two or more tables in DB1 then all data is pulled over to DB1 and then the join is executed: so more data over the databaselink and more work for DB1. Better keep the joining stuff where the data resides and just pull exactly that data over that you need.
    2. Don't know about your different block sizes. Seems a nice question for one of the other forums (DBA or SQL).
    3. I mean create synonyms on DB1 for reports VIEWS in DB2.
    Hope all is clear!

  • Locks made against source database (SQLServer 6.5 to 9.0.1.2 migration)

I was wondering if there is any information about the types of locks that OMWB will take out on the source SQLServer database in a migration. From what I can tell these locks occur on the source database while the table data is loaded in to the target Oracle database. Are they taken at any other time during the migration process? How does OMWB determine what locks to take?
I need to migrate several production SQLServer 6.5 databases and I need to understand how OMWB will perform locks so I don't bottleneck our production SQLServer databases while they are converted to Oracle. Most of the migration work will be performed off hours, but I still would like some insight into the locking. In a related question, how does OMWB maintain consistency between tables during the migration process?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    -Reid

    Hi,
You will be able to migrate from 6.5 to 9.3.1, if the 6.5 version is on a seperate server from the planned 9.3.1 version then you can use the migration wizard to do so.
If you want to migrate users and groups make sure the 9.3.1 version is still in native security mode, otherwise you will need to use esscmd/maxl to extract user information and then import.
The migration wizard will not take the data so you should really export that from your source.
    Cheers

  • How do I save multiple files from database using oracle forms?

Forms [32 Bit] Version 10.1.2.3.0 (Production)
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    Hello,
I have a form containing a block of records with files set up in a tabular layout. Each row has a checkbox to indicate if that row is selected. What I want to do is allow the user to save each file from checked rows to a directory of their choice on their machine when a button is pressed. Is it possible to do this in one command at the same time using WEBUTIL_FILE to save all the selected files to the same directory, or would I need to loop through each row and call the save dialog each time?
    Thanks.

I'm not sure I follow. The SAVE_DIALOG is building the path including the filename where the files will be saved. If I have 5 different files I want to save at the same time and only show the dialog once, I will only have a path for one of the files. How could I loop through the rest afterwards?

We have four new, recently-configured, AIX servers with same configuration with respect to IBM patches, kernel settings, etc. The install on our second server hangs while the other three installs successfully completed. It's not a connectivity issue with x-windows software or Putty as the OUI screen displays correctly and we enter all our install details.
We get as far as the Summary screen, at which point we review the parameters to be used, then select "Install" and the 10g screen comes up (where you would normally see progress status) and nothing else happens. Eventually the screen washes out and nothing happens. We have downloaded new copies of the software from OTN, as well as transferred copies of the files from one of the successful servers, but with the same results.
I have attached the contents of the install log file below and hope that someone may have a moment to review and point out something that may be causing the install issue. I am available to provide any additional information as requested.
    RDBMS Version: Oracle 10.2.0.2
    OS Version: AIX 5.3
I can email the full install log if needed, but it contains more than 30,000 words and exceeds this forum's max length.

  • I can't access Database 11g EE in the browser

    Hi Rajiv,
Thanks for your contribution to find solution to my problem.
In the first place I wanted to direct my problem to the forum that deals with Database 11g Enterprise Edition but I can't find it. Please if I am in a wrong place kindly direct me.
Really I can't specify where the problem actually is. Probably if I give the installation procedure I went through and specified Error messages, one may be able to help me.

I opened firefox browser and typed https://godis:1158/em (‘godis ‘as name of the laptop hosting the installation) but the following error message displayed in the browser:
    Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at godis:1158.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I clicked Start>All Programs>Oracle-db11g_home1>Configuration and Migration Tools>Database Configuration Assistant and followed screen instructions to configure orcl database but at the end of the configuration the following error displayed:-
Enterprise Manager Configuration failed due to the following error:-
Error instantiating OC4J Configuration files. Refer to the log file at C:\app\godis\cfgtoollogs\dbca\orcl\emConfig.log for more details. You can retry configuring this database with Enterprise Manager later by manually running C:\app\godis\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\emca Script
When I ran the emca.bat file it splashed without achieving any positive result
I checked C:\app\godis\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\install\portlist configuration settings file but there is no port number enlisted in the file. It is totally empty
I reinstalled and changed the System Class from Server Class to Desktop Class but the same experience
I will appreciate if some can help me solve the problem since this is my first attempt on Enterprise Edition. I need the help of an expert

I doubt that any database actually exists now.
Are both Operating System Services for database & listener running now?
what clues exist within alert_SID.log file?
How do I ask a question on the forums?
