Production Mail Servers on Arch

Just wondering if anyone on this board built / manages a production (or personal) email server running on Arch Linux. I am curious what you used as the MTA and some details about your build. If you have any feedback - please post it here as I am planning on doing so on my system soon.

I am going to build a production mail server for about 100+ users on my domain and was only considering Postfix since I have used it before and love it. It's so straight forward and rock solid over anything else I have seen or used. My question is when I search the Wiki or other guides for building a Postfix mail server on Arch, I get a tutorial that explains how to do this with MySQL support. I have never done any kind of mail server with a database engine. Normally I would simply just dump all the users email into their home directory via Maildir method. My question is how difficult is it to build Postfix and have it working with MySQL over just doing a vanilla Maildir style installation. Are their benefits to using MySQL over the simplistic way I am use to doing it? I am assuming the setup and configuration process is a bit more complex but I decided I would ask here for your input / suggestions.

How to change my password and my incoming and outgoing mail servers

Hi I have used Outlook Express for years and I know how to configure "everything" I need within the settings pages because their settings pages are all "logical" with everything out in the open.
However, Thunderbird "hides" their settings behind buttons and confusing screens.
There are many tutorials that explain how to set up Thunderbird from the beginning, and show how to set up a new email account. But I have not been able to find a tutorial on how to change my email account password "after" I have been using Thunderbird for awhile.
I also see no way to change the incoming and outgoing servers. For example, I have changed from one hosting company to another hosting company and I need to use the new mail servers from the new hosting company and I do not see any tutorials anyplace that cover ongoing or day-to-day activities with Thunderbird.
Can you please change your settings screens to make Thunderbird easier for new people to find these normal and necessary items?
Also can you please point me to a tutorial that shows me how to change my email account password and change my incoming and outgoing servers?

If you wan to create an account, you must the delete the existing account.
So take backup of your emails if your using POP3
Two ways you can do it

How can I redirect all messages to 2 another mail servers?

I wanted to redirect all messages(in and out) to another mail server, I configured as follows,

One e-mail account receives all messgaes and those messages will be kept in sender's or receiver's mail storage.
I want , however, redirect all messages 2 or 3 mail servers.
I tried several things to do this include edit backother.filter(this is written in Sieve ), but I failed.
Is there any way to redirect messages to another mail servers?
Any way would be good , using sieve script, make antoher channel or channel keyword

I tested it but the capture's behavior was very weird, subject had changed to something like,'deliverd status notice', sender had changed to postmaster and additional notice messgae inserted into mail body.The default sieve capture action encapsulates the email to keep a copy of both the envelope information and the original message. It worked fine. It was same as the result of 'redirect'.

maybe there was some 'loop' actions happened.The email produced by the capture sieve action is being "captured" which is resulting in a loop. You can stop this by adding an envelope test e.g.

You need to get the settings for your email from your email provider and enter them in Internet Accounts (System Preferences). Many of the common systems are already available, all you need is a password and an email address to set them up.

What is it with the application "mail" and the Yahoo mail servers that is in conflict all the time. We have reconfigured the settings and done everything possible and the "mail" application is still conflicted.... Running Lion 10.7.4

I know it is a pretty long question and am unsure if it can be answered, but have had just a lot of trouble with the Yahoo mail servers... Where could a man go and get the mail application, I can not find it in the app store. It is my thought maybe to just replace the app I have with another mail application and reconfigure everything and go from there. But I do not know where the mail application can be found.

Mail does not connect to mail servers after 10.5.7 update

Updated Macbook Air with 10.5.7 update. The update went without problems.
After starting the computer, the Mail program does not connect to the mail servers - IMAP, POP, SMTP.
Otherwise the internet connection is OK for other programs, connection is through WIFI - Airport Extreme, Time Capsule... In all cases the same problem with Mail - showing the following
The server error encountered was: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 993 failed (error 1: Operation not permitted)
The connection doctor shows
Mail was able to connect to the internet
and for all the servers - could not connect, check your connection...
Did repair of keychain and permissions - no change in status of Mail... any ideas?

Mail Adapter - Multiple mail ID and multiple mail servers config.

I am doing BPM synch scenario in which i get the response from SAP box and send the response via email adapter. I am using mail.xsd and doing mail config. in message mapping. However in the TO field i am able to give only one email ID. If i give multiple email ID's mail is not received. I tried comma and semi-colon as separator. Still not working? I have two questions in configuring TO option:
1) How to send to multiple id's? I am using Lotus Notes.
2)How to send to multiple mail servers? I have to send to Lotus Notes id's and outlook express id's also simultaneously.

Please find here with some observations about it,
1) How to send to multiple id's? I am using Lotus Notes.
If you have specified an IMAP server under URL, the message is saved in the specified folder but is not sent to the receiver specified under To.
Then even if Under To, you had specified the e-mail address that will receive the message would be separated with a semicolon. It will not work.
Please verify about it .

If you want to send it to multiple email addresses and all email addresses are user of XI then you can define "Role" and attach that role to everyuser and make this role as receipent of alert .

OS X 10.10.1 Apple Mail reliability issue with Virgin Mail Servers

Apple Mail(8.1) reliability issue with Virgin Mail Servers on my iMac and Laptop Pro with the new Yosemite update! Spent 1.5hrs with the virgin team (thought we solved it by changing from Auto to one minute update) only to find on return I still have an issue with Mail! On the iMac the account opens and I see all the mail arriving. When I switch over and the back, days of recent mail have disappeared?
If I search for one I saw, It is found?
On the Laptop Pro, its similar, but it also has a problem remembering the outgoing port no matter how often I save it keeps going back to port 143 and this makes the send fail each time?
Will I have to move to another mail client or is their a fix coming?

The last version of Mail for Tiger is v2.1.3 & there won't be any updates/upgrades.
You might try the freeware mail app Thunderbird. http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ It's newer than Mail for Tiger.

I changed mail servers and my saved messages disappeared. How do I get them back?

I recently had to changed mail servers (but retained the same address). When I changed the server all my previously saved messages were deleted. I'd like to get these back... is there anyway to do this?

Did the account on the old server use POP or IMAP?

Multiple Lotus Mail Servers

Hi,
In our landscape there are multiple Lotus Mail Servers.
The requirement is to give a direct link to their Mailboxes.
I understood that this can be realized by a URL iview to the Mailbox and using User Mapping through a HTTP System.
Now I am trying to findout the best practice to give access to their mail boxes.I have identified the following...
        1. A page where we place multiple links directing to the different mail servers and the user has to pickup his mail server.
        2. Put the mail server details in the user profile and code a small application which will read the details and will redirect to the respective mail server.
    I would request you to suggest and share your experiences.

I would suggest that you go for the second option. This saves the user a unecessary click. Create a custom attribute that allows you to determine the user's mail server. Create as many system objects as you have Lotus mail servers and have a look into SAP Library to find out how to use the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/21/dfd241cb76c417e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">Dynamic System Resolution service</a>.

How can I fix Version 24.5.0 (installed today), which cannont communicate with any external URLs or mail servers?

I am using Windows XP, v 5.1 w/ Service Pac 3 installed.
Was running earlier version until automatic update at @1730 hours (EDT), April 30, 2014. After auto update to 24.5.0, the "What's New" tab has the note "The connection was refused when attempting to contact live.mozillamessaging.com." and when I try to access e-mail servers, I get a pop-up note "could not connect to mail server [e-mail address], connection was refused" on one account and it hangs trying to connect to "pop.secureserver.net" or the mail server for two other accounts.
I have restarted with Add-Ons disabled and all the problems continue to exist.
I can read the e-mails via my browser on the appropriate server, so I know it is not a server issue.
Server settings for e-mail are correct according to e-mail service providers.
How does this get fixed?

Make sure Thunderbird isn't blocked by a personal firewall.

Using ColdFusion with mail servers

Undelivered email used to be routed to the undelivr folder. We then could make corrections and move it into the spool folder.
CF 9 is different. It sends the email to every server in the list and then records the last server as successfully sent. The undelivered email then disappears.
I found that if I added a bogus mail server address, to the end of the additional mail servers list in Backup Mail Servers, the undeliverable email is moved into the undelivered folder.

Biggest bug is that your key caps key gets stuck. Repost, without the all caps stuff, which is tantamount to shouting, and maybe we can read what your problems are all about.

New 2.0 outoging mail servers?

I noticed that 2.0 allows you to select multiple outgoing mail servers. I assume this is to fix the situation on edge where many users have to use cwmx.com as their outgoing server.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get it to work.
Anyone out there familiar with this new feature?

Tech support from my provider just told me that the switching of SMTP does not accure aotomatically. You have to switch off the primary server in order to use the secondary.
The iPhone is lying, we need an update!
