Production to quality

Hi All,
Please advise,
My client has requirement of one year trasactional data of 10 balancesheet gl accounts from production server to quality server for the test.
the line items are about 8000.
please advise how to dump from the production server and how to upload(lsmw or bdc) to the quality server.
Thanks in Advance.
kiran

Hi Kiran
Copy of prod to quality can be dangerous, if
1. You have some ABAP objects in Qly which are not yet moved to production (This will overwrite the objects in QLy and you will have to move them again from DEV to Qly)
2. Your database size would increase
So, if you have no pendng ABAP objects in Qly to be moved to production AND server sizing is not an issue, then you can take a client copy of Prd to Qly
Else, take an extract of data from Prd and upload in QLy

is it possible to release the request from production to quality

    It's not allowed..
You can move request from original server ( where a request is created ) to target server.
Since in production server you are not allowed development work.. so u can not create req there... and u can not move req of dev server ( which were moved to prod ) from prod to quality.

  • System refresh from Production to Quality

    Hi,
We are going for system refresh from Production to Quality. We are at SAP NetWeaver 2004s with 700 release and at 0021 level. Our data base system is DB6 with the release 09.07.0000
I understand that there is a note 886102 available for the system copy. But I would like to know how that had been practically implemented from your ready documents like
    1. What would be the BI consultant role during the refresh (I mean where do we involve at). I have seen many links related to this but nothing answer my question, so please don't give me links available.
    2. How to identify tables that need to be copied and restored to retain the correct source systems for data/info sources.
    3. What should be the BI consultant task before refresh?
    4. What should be the BI consultant task post refresh?
    5. What are issues faced post refresh in quality system.
I request, the consultant who had worked on these refresh can provide me correct solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    Raj

    Our prerefresh activities included
Inform security team to do no user or authorisation changes for quality during the refresh.
Set message in development to not release any transports anymore and set message in quality to inform users in quality not to manually import transports into quality and also not approve transports for production. This ensures no transports get moved to quality and production.
Switch off cyclic import all job (like TMS_0000000038TMS_TP_IMPORT) and the cyclic  RSTMS_DIST_APPROVED_REQUESTS job
Prepare list of transports for re-import to quality after refresh and give this to BASIS.
    Post refresh activities included
Tcodes SM37, SM35 and SP01. Check that BASIS had set all released jobs to status "Susp/Released"
"All jobs are in 'Susp/Released' state. Set them all to 'Scheduled ' as follows:
    -  Run report BTCTRNS2 to change all to 'Released'.
    - Immediately use SM37 to change all to 'Scheduled' "
IF ANY ARE NEEDED. Remember to change Exec Target in any job you need to release.
"Schedule  RSTMS_DIST_APPROVED_REQUESTS to run at x:29 and x:59 - so every 30 minutes.
Please schedule with DDIC as step user (and not your own user-id)."
Check the STMS_QA and import queues to be sure that the tranports are correct- no extra ones during refresh???
Once happy with the above request that Basis schedule the auto import to run every 30 minutes
First ensure that BDLS has finished and system is ready for use.
Post refresh issues faced in production
    Many reinit issues
    ACR issues.
    Master data issues.

  • Export table data from production to quality system - Oracle 10.2

    Hi,
I am trying to export a few table's data from our production system to the quality system.
Reason: To synchronize the table data between Production and Quality system
System info: SAP ECC 6.0 on Oracle 10.2 ; OS: Solaris
    Description:
There are few standard SAP tables which hold the data of the various institutions of our client. Our requirement is to export the master data relevant for a particular institution from the production system to the quality system. We intend to use the Oracle Export and Import utility (Suggestions on the usage of which tool are welcome).
    Constraints:
Lets say, there is a table NXXX in production system. This table contains the data for the institutions AA, BB, CC. I intend to export the data relevant to the institution AA from the table NXXX and import the data to the table NXXX in the Quality system.
Now I understand that the schema of these tables are different. In the production system, the schema would be SAP<Prod SID>.NXXX and in the quality system, the schema is SAP<Qas SID>.NXXX. I need your suggestions to overcome this constraint.
    Regards,

    Hi,
I do not think you can just export data in your scenario using the oracle imp/exp tool it's all or nothing...
as for the scema naming between QA/PROD you just need to use :
imp <dump file> fromuser=<PROD schema>  touser=<QA schema>  only thing you have to look out for is the mandt as it will not change.
I had something similar recently where I had to copy 14+ million rows from Prod to a Dev client without impacting on other clients data for this table in Dev.
    So for data consistancy
    1) I restored a copy of prod on a new LPAR and exported the table.
    2) Created a dummy prod client using client '000' as a base.
    3) imported the table  using the syntax above enabling the change of schema
We have now a 14 + million rows in the dummy prod client on the new LPAR
    Now on the Dev server
    4) Created new client on dev as per point 2
    5) SCC9 Remote client copy from the new LPAR using SAP_ALL
    6) As I had 9+ million rows in the target client to get rid of I used delete_commit procedure as in metalink note 3777.1
This enable  me to delete rows fast without caning the roll back segs.
    7) using R3trans and a command file from the command line copied the single table into the target client.
I do not know if this is useful for you because your scenario is slighley different, but this is what I did for a whole table for a particular mandt.
    Regards

Beats Solo HD On-Ear Headphone red has a 5 stars review compared to others, are they the same products ,same quality of sound?

First, there are plenty "Fake" Beats headphones and earphones, they are almost looked the same with the original, but the sound qualities are basically poor.
Beats is good for people who likes strong bass.
Recently, I am in love with the new Apple earpods, they perform good, and particular with an app. called "Dirac" lite.
This is a great review for most of the top quality headphones and earphones

  • T420 or for the matter all new Thinkpad products losing quality/ Flimsy

Well once a proud owner of many thinkpads, starting with the first 386 version during my pre primary years, onto the t43 series, to the t60p series, to the t400 an t500 models  and now an owner of a t420. i must say that over the last 12 months the quality in comparison to the other models prior to this one shows as a disgrace to the fall of grace of a once well known quality brand the Thinkpad.
Let me tell you, within the last 12 months of use i had my ejection mechanism fall out off place an non repairable on the cdrom , i was surprised at this. one of my battery lock in clips have come off, this is just through normal use, to and from work.My keys on the keyboard are getting how shoul i put it not responsive due... it as all come down to a cheap piece of crap for a Thinkpad T series model.
On another note when i had to upgrade my memory modules, i was dumb founded by the number of screws in comparison to the previous models of the once great T series line. I could also say that having an electronics engineering background. having a look at the circuitry, the Quality control is almost non existant. I noticed NOTICABLE rework on the motherboard, misaligned IC chips, solder balls between the legs. ... Just surprised at the level of **bleep**iness that i have notice a once true quality product degrade to.
IN ESSENCE I have gone back to my good old T60P bought a SSD hard drive for that. LENOVO THINKPADS once a CHOICE FOR ME. The t420 will most probably be the last that i will get. I look towards Dell Precision series.
I hope LENOVO turns back and allow quality to be once again the norm for the Thinkpad T series.
On another note, this is not only myself complaining about this. matter. I work for a well known telecommunications company within Australia. And they have made the shift to Dell Precisions due to the fact of low quality issues with the T series... Unfortunate

The conventional laptop market isn't growing, so manufacturers are squeezing as much out of the components as possible. Shareholders won't stand for non-growth, so you're stuck with the trend.

  • Production server, quality servers

    Hello all,
I would like to know wats the exact difference between producion server, quality server, development server and sanbox. are the datas same in all these server.
    Thanks,
    Maxx

    Dear Maxx,
Development server is used for Development. Either Development/Golden Client is used for Configuration. Then all the developments and configuration data is transported Quality Server where you would test the configuration with test data. You would transport the same to Production if everything is right.
You will transport from DEV to QA and then QA to PROD. You will not transport from QA to DEV.
For your clarification you will not change any thing in QA. You will make the changes in DEV and transport them to QA. QA is only for testing.
Regarding two movement types - one is incoming and other one is outgoing.
For more information about the SAP Change and Transport System (CTS), visit the following link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/57/38ddff4eb711d182bf0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
Transport Request is generated in following scenarios:
    1. Customizing Request - When doing or changing some customization.
    2. WorkBench Request - When configuration is cross-client. Eg Generating new Table, making changes in access sequence, Abap development, etc.
Transport request is not generated for Master Data. For eg: Customer Master, Material Master, price master, etc.
    Benefit of Transport Request:
SAP Landscape normally has 3- Tier system:
Development Server - Where customization takes place. Transport request is generated at this level & then first transported to Quality server for testing whether it meets the requirement or not. Once the requirement is met in Quality server then Request is transported from Development Server to Production Server (Actual / Live System)
Quality Server - Mainly useful for testing.
Production Server Actual / Live server, where the real transactions are created & posted.
Procedure to Release & Transport Request:
    1. In development server, go to T.Code: SE10 & select the check box Modifiable & enter
    2. In the next screen, you will see list of transport request created.
Note: Transport request consist of main request along with sub request. These sub request hold the object to be transported.
    3. Expand the main request & you will be able to view the sub requests attached to main request.
    4. First release the sub requests.
Note: To release the request, select the request ni & click on release request individually (Do not select release all request)
    5. Next release main request.
    6. Once the request is released sucessfully, imform the basis person to import the request to QA server.
    or
If the authority is with you, through T.Code: STMS, select development server --> select request no & release to QA server. Here when it pops up client no, user id & password, maintain it of QA server & release the request to QA server.
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • UD for production order quality inspection

    hi,
i have activated inspection 04 for a material and after GR it has been inspected and found ok. at the UD stage we are keeping the stock directly as unristricted stock and it is figuring in the inventory.but still phisically the material is not moved to the stores.  so the system shows excess inventory though it is not recieved phisically.
I heard that there is some way where in which during UD or after UD we can control the mateiral to be placed in stores by the stores person directly .
Is there any special transaction to keep the stock in to unristriced after inspection  but not in the UD stage.
    please suggest
    regards
    madan

I'm a bit confused.  But if I interpret what you said...
Material is GR and a stock relevant quality inspection lot is created.  It sounds though as if you have the indicator "post to QI" off in the material master inspection type setup so that the material is going right to unrestricted inventory and not QI.  In this manner it appears to the stores people that they have the material on hand, when in fact, it is still being inspected.  You want the stores people to be able to put-away this material so they know it is physically in the stores area.
The simplest thing that I can suggest is to turn on the "post to QI" stock so that when stores looks at inventory, they'll see the material is in the quality inspection.  If you want, have the quality people make the UD without posting the stock.  Then have the stores people do the stock posting in the UD screen when they receive the material.   You can use the user status to prevent stock postings until a UD is done and you can also use the user statuses to prevent the stores people from making the actual UD.  They can only do the stock posting.
This should give you the visibility you want while still allowing the QC people to make the decision on the UD.  And allow the stores people to post the material.

  • Replacement product and quality

    Hi there,
I bought 6 ipod touchs from online store of Apple last year. One was broken glass after 2 months using so we had to pay for replacement service in june 2011. They hand us the replacement one which is packed in some nilon and paper instead of nicely box as original one but they ensured us the quality is about the   same. However, 2 months ago, this replacement one was spoiled, can not charge anymore while other original ipod from apple store are still working. Today I sent the spoiled ipod touch to QDC service and they adviced us to call to apple service to ask before pay 162 dollars for repair because we paid too much for this device already. Badluck for us, the guy picked up our phone only advice us to "go forward" to pay for service instead of help us to find if the device is same quality with original or not???? I am now wonder about Apple repair service, the way Apple's staff answered us show clearly that the quality of replacement device would be never same with the original device we bought directly from apple store.

Apple replaced my iPhone 3G and iPhone 4, the quality did not differ, both devices are still operating without problems. Some damages are not covered by your warranty, like a broken glass or water damage. More details here: Apple - Support - Service Answer Center

  • Transport FG from Quality to Production

    Dear All,
I have created couple of function group and transported to Quality system. Now as per the requirement I have made the changes in different FM of these FG as well as includes. So there are few versions in DEV system.
Now finally i want to transport the these FG to production system. So which transport request I have to use to move to the production?? In Quality it showing different request for each FM and include (Latest version request number).
Can anybody tell me how I can transport my all FG to the production via Quality??
Is it good way to create one more request for all FG using SE03 tcode, so that all FM with includes i have final request in DEV system which I can move to Production via Quality....
    Good suggesstion are most welcome.....
    Thanks in stack......

    Hello Nilesh
This is quite a common problem with function groups.
However, if you have at least one system where the entire function group is complete (i.e. contains all function modules and the TOP include contains all data definitions and the frame program all additional includes) then you can go to the workbench (SE80). Right-click on your function group and choose "Other functions" -> "Write transport request entry". The CTS puts the function group into the transport request which should then be transported entirely.
I highly recommend first to "synchronize" your DEV with your Quality system, repeat the tests there and, if everything was successful, transport to Production.

  • Client opening in production/Quality systems

    Hi Gurus,
I need your inputs on my thoughts regarding client opening in production or quality systems.
Am a BASIS administrator and sometime we get requests from functional teams to open a production or quality client to do some direct changes which are non-transportable from Development.
So, my question is should we open the client with a setting "Automatic recording of changes" or "Changes without automatic recording". If they are really non-transportable, i guess there is no harm with the setting "Changes without automatic recording", but in case if they do some changes directly in production which are transportable from development, then it becomes an issue if the recording is not allowed so there will not be any log.
So please suggest if it better is to set it as "Automatic recording of changes" so that it will create a request and log the changes. It will be helpful to trace of the changes in case those changes are transportable. Is there any harm or audit violation if we set "Automatic recording of changes" in a porduction or quality system?
Am awaiting your thoughts on it.
    Thank you,
    Ram.

Appreciate your responses Siva and Nick.
Nick: I agree that production client has to be opened only for changes which are not transportable. But once we open the client it allows any change irrespective of transportable or not transportable.
How we will be able to track if the requestor is doing more changes than mentioned in the change request for which he/she is approved for.
If we do not record we have to do lot of post mortum activity later to identify who has done these changes and if we record we can easily trace to the changes done if any than agreed.
In our environment fire fighter setup enabled only in production environment but not in quality. We are trying to enable production changes only through fire fighter but are checking if additionally enabling recording helps or not. What we are finding is it helps us quickly trace the changes done by the user though we have fire fighter logs.
But in quality environment as we do not have fire figher set up and we are seing recording is only possible way of producing necessary audit trail.
As mentioned above if any such transports are created we need to ensure that they are to be released so that objects are not locked under them. Let us know if  you see any issues here.
What we are trying to arrive at is a fool proof plan and process when we open clients for direct editing.
Let us know if enabling recording effects in any other way when we open quality or production environment in exceptional cases.
Greatly appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Thanks
    Ram

  • Backflush Semifinished product and stock post to quality inspection stock

    Dear Experts,
Please advise is it possible for the below in SAP. How to do?
When backflush "Semifinished product", system automatically post to quality inspection stock. Then it is skip for 9 lots. The 11th lot again post to quality inspection stock.
1st backflush posting -> post to quality inspection stock
2nd until 10th backflush posting -> post to unrestricted stock (skip)
11th backflush posting -> post to quality inspection stock
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Wong

    Dear Experts,
Let me further explain what I want.
Production people produce semifinished product, but quality inspection people not inspect all the product. For example they will inspect 1st and 11th batch of product only.
So I propose when backflush the semifinished product, system post the stock to quality inspection stock. Then production people know this batch of product need to be inspected and pass to quality inspection people. Once quality inspection people complete the inspection, they will release the material (UD) to unrestricted stock.
I have no idea on how to configure and maybe it is not possible in SAP. Please advise.
Question: Is it we should manually create inspection lot for each transaction (eg. backflush or material movement)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Wong
