Professional ABAP

Experts,
Can you please let me know whether SAP is still having option to do Professional ABAP Certification. I could not find info about the same from training.sap.com.
Can you please help me with details.
Thanks
Aspire

Dear Poonam,
the "Professional"-Certification is very very hard - during my last Certifcation Exam, all candidates with the Pro-Exam failed (I was so glad I chose the normal certification...)
Here's how to book your exam:
Go to [http://www.sap.com/services/education/certification/index.epx|http://www.sap.com/services/education/certification/index.epx] and follow the instructions ("visit the local SAP Education Web site for the country").
Figure out the exam code for your certification. Example: For the US, there is a downloadable list (PDF) of exams available, called "list of the available certification exams".
Schedule the exam according to the rules of your region - here is the link for the US:

  • SAP CERTIFIED DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL - ABAP SYSTEM INTERFACES WITH SAP

    Hello Experts

    hi,
actually you can find your sid on your certificate itself ... your sid will start with SXX .. ok now along with this you will receive an envelope in which there would be an letter where detalis regarding your sid and password for login access in sap market place will be stated... so you can login with that in server market place.... usually you get this along with the certificate and is being provided by the centres authority...   now if you have not received it so you need to contact your centre and tell them to give it to you... if they dont barged then you can ask them for the concern guy's email .... this guy is the one who receives all the documents relating with your certificate .. now this guy is someone from sap labs banglore ...  also if you have not received your id card so you can mail him or tell your centre authority in that case now usually the centre guys take the matters lightly ...
ok and as far as your certification exams goes i did search the pearson website they really dont have that professional certification for the abap guys but they do have one for functionals and some other....
ok now you need to approach yout nearest certification centre in that case and simply ask them that you need to appear for level 2 certification also you can contact the sap labs banglore in that case but i know that they are not responding .....
so in that matter you tell your centre that you need to schedule the certification they will charge you the certification amount and then will  schedule the date..... yes they can do that.
hope this will surely help you!!!
    thanks & regards,
    Punit Raval.

  • P_ABAP_70:SAP Certified Development Professional - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver

    Hi,
Anyone attempted the above certification ? Can you please throw some light on:
    1) Difficulty level
    2) How to go about preparation
I have around 10 years of experience in SAP including development experience, playing a techno-function role.
I have browsed through a lot of threads in SDN but have not got a concrete answer.
    Regards,
    Srinivas Bhat.

Large difference in the two levels.  You need to look at the proper forum here on SDN, and got to SAP site and read the differences in the knowledge levels expected for Associate and Professional.  If you're a WebDynpro and WebServices wizard, know some SOA and fluent in OO should have no problems, but you really need to look at the exam content and weighting in SAP certification documentation.

  • ABAP courses and certifications

I have more than 5 years of exp. in ABAP and no certifications as yet. Currently the following three are provided by SAP Education.
SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver 7.0
SAP Certified Development Professional - ABAP User Interfaces with SAP NetWeaver 7.0
SAP Certified Development Professional - ABAP System Interfaces with SAP NetWeaver 7.0
What should the best course of action be for me. Do all 3? Just the professional ones? Any input is greatly appreciated.

  • Function module: cube partitioning

    Hi,
I have one big cube that should be split into smaller cubes. Each year ("Posting Date" InfoObject) will get one cube.
So I have my DataSource, InfoSource, update rule, big cube. It's a 3.x data flow.
Is it possible to write a function module (and place it into the startroutine of the update rule) to split data into the new cubes? As I am not a professional Abap programmer: is there maybe somewhere a sample on the SAP network?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
we can debug a function module, but we cannot see the contents of a virtualcube before loading..

  • Application  Components vs. Namespace

    Hi everyone.
I've recently worked on translating our some components in our namespace, and I'm now looking into how the SAP standard way of translation is. So far google gave me this document: http://www3.telus.net/public/surasa72/System_Setup.pdf which could prove to be a great source.
On page 4: http://screencast.com/t/uvOp63aeXQK the document describes a structure: Objects\Packages\Application Components.
The document describes App. Comp. like this: http://screencast.com/t/KtGnPqacA
What are the differences between Application Components and Namespaces?
    Best regards
    Lasse Finderup
Edited by: Lasse Finderup on Mar 6, 2009 10:10 AM

    Hello Lasse
Basically there are three namespaces available for customer:
    - Y objects
    - Z objects
    - /mynamespace/ objects
You can register with SAP your own namespace which makes sense if you are working in a company where you do professional ABAP development for other customers.
Application components describe the structural hierarchy of the entire SAP system, e.g.
    CA = Cross-Applications
    FI = Financial Accounting
    BC = Basis
If you assign your own packages to a specific application component then these packages will show up wherever you have a report using the application components as selection criteria.
If you have huge development projects such an assignment makes sense but I have never assigned any of my packages to a specific application component (except for eCATT scripts where this is mandatory).

  • Install.  SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on Win 7.0 Professional 64 bit OS

    Dear Experts,
I was trying to install SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version(SAP Management console -sapmmcX86u.msi from <extract_folder>\sapmmc) on Window 7.0 professional 64 bit machine, but getting the following error message.
'This installation does not support 64 bit windows operating systems. Please use the corresponding 64 bit installation package.'
Can you please share procedure how to install 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on Win 7 Prof.64 bit operating system.
    Regards,
    Anil

    Hi Anil,
Hope you have managed to install the trial edition in win 7, However if not then you can use virtualization to solve your problem, you can download windows virtual PC which has a XP mode so this XP mode runs XP inside your Win7 OS (just like a application) and then you can install the trial edition inside virtual XP(never tried it myself though).
    Hope this helps.

  • ABAP Courses in the ACM Professional Development Centre

The Association for Computing Machinery offers four ABAP courses in their Professional Development Centre (http://pd.acm.org/netg_listing.cfm).  See the section "SAP Development & Reporting."
    "ABAP Web Application Server Development"
    "ABAP 6.10 Overview"
    "ABAP Reporting 6.10"
    "ABAP Objects 6.10 Overview "
If you have tried these courses, what did you think of them?

Use of the Professional Development Centre requires membership in the ACM.  Therefore you are correct, you must pay for ACM membership to access the courses.
Let me know what you think when you are done.  I had the opposite reaction to the "ABAP 6.10 Overview" course.  It seems the Overview is well named and that is gives a nice high level introduction to ABAP, but that it is not detailed enough to get someone programming new ABAP without additional materials or training.

    Hi Manu,
In reply to Valerio it should be made clear, that the loopback adapter is relevant for the communication between GUI and the application server. This is not your problem!
I faced massive problems installing the 7.01 version (10 trials at least) and was about to revert to the 7.0 version too, but finally succeeded by downgrading my XP version (XP Professional with MUI) from SP3 to SP2. Maybe some offical from SAP could comment on this experience.
As my log files looked very much like yours, I'd like to give a brief outline of what my experience was before I downgraded.
One big problem I faced was, that the uninstallation routine for MAX DB didn't work properly (and the problems I faced had to do with the installation of MaxDB). Allthough I had deinstalled it via "Control Center - Software" I always had remainders like log files from the installation on my drive (under "C:\Documents and Settings\<INSTALLATION_USER>\Local Settings\Temp" two files beginning with "MaxDB*" and there were more which I don't remeber) and therefore reinstallation didn't work either. During reinstallation, the routine allways claimed that there was a functioning database installed (one of the installation screen then states to install 18xxx bytes instead of the 21xxx bytes for the complete installation), skiped the reinstallation of MAX DB and, as machines are quite stupid, finally showed an error "unknown source". So, the various entries you see in your log file seem to originate from the same error.
As you might know from the installition of the 7.0 version, a first impression of a proper installation can be obtainend in the MMC. You should see the NSP System with two branches, a blue one for the database and a hopefully green one for the instance you created (with msg_server.exe and disp+work.exe green lit under "Process List"). I for example couldn't see the database (blue symbol) when I received the error you describe, the apllication server started its processes but ran into Nothingness because there was no database to attach to.
Hope this helps. If all works fine, the last step is  to connect the GUI with the Apllication Server which is done through the loopback adapter which you will definitely know as you made the 7.0 version run. Anyhow, it is definitely no fault to install the loopback adapter in advance, make the entry in the hosts file and ping the adapter by name and IP adress just to make shure it can be properly seen.
One lesson I learned from this, is to install the SAP Software into a VM. If the problems become to heavy, smash the VM and configure a new one.
    Good luck

  • Crystal Reports for VS2010 using a custom SAP ABAP function module data source

I recently worked with Crystal Reports 2011 and was able to connect and retrieve data from our R/3 system via an ABAP function module. While researching other features, I found this version that can be installed into Visual Studio 2010. The parameters are not very user friendly in Crystal Reports so I was hoping to create a custom dialog to collect my report parameters.
Does anyone know if I were to install Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010, would I be able to design a front-end selection screen in a Visual Basic form and then pass the input to through the Crystal Reports connection to my ABAP function module to retrieve the data filtered on the back-end by the selection screen parameters and return the results to be reported in the Crystal Reports output?
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Professional Visual Basic with the .NET Framework 4.0 on 32-bit Windows 7. I was able to connect to our R/3 system in Crystal Reports 2011, so if I were to install Crystal Reports for VS2010, would there be a similar way of connecting to SAP?
Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hello Bryan
I don't know for sure, but I doubt this will work in CRVS2010. Only hope is that the utility available for download in this KBA will point you in the right direction.
