Professional Animated Lower Thirds, Transitions, and effect presets.

I shoot and edit a lot of video and would like to know of some professional template HD animations I could get to spice these projects up a bit. Some are business projects, some personal like weddings and parties, some are live bands or music videos.
Is there a company/site out there that has a great selection of these sorts of templates and/or even presets for fast/great effects? mostly I need animated templates for lower thirds, transitions, and intros...
Also, if anyone would like to share what they do in premiere for professional effects that would be sweet. Like what effects you use that I should consider to make the videos more interesting while staying professional...

I make graphic sequences from scratch for lwer 3rds in Premiere. Main tool being the title maker.
I start with HD sequence I'll call Lwr_3rdBking. On this I'll compose motion and layering of solid graphic clips created with Premiere's title maker, photoshop, AE, In camera FX shots, whatever works. I use the Blend option in the opacity controls to create some neat looks.
Then I'll nest the Lwr_3rdBking sequence, and use a 4 point garbage matt to draw a shape the size of a lower 3rd bar. Basically cropping the nested Lwr_3rdBking sequence.
Then I'll use the title maker to draw a lwer 3rd box over the cropped and matted Lwr_3rdBking. I take care to match the size neatly. I turn off the fill color of the box I just made, the turn on inner stroke, set it to bevel and adjust the bevel gradient. Shadow could also be added.
When I'm happy with the lower 3rd frame that I created with Title maker, I will lay it on top of the nested & cropped Lwr_3rdBking sequence, The gives me a lower 3rd graphic that has motion within and is framed nicely.
If I use it repeatedly, I just duplicated the original Lwr_3rdBking sequence in the project window, rename it for it's purpose. Then add whatever text to the each new Lwr_3rd sequence.
It may seem laborious, but really once you settle on an initial design, the creation of subsequent title sequences is very speedy.

Hey guys i am so new to imovie. I got a mac 3 yrs ago but just now using imovie. anyway i have both imovies 6 and 8 and i see that imovie 6 has more transitions and effects. Imovie 8 doesn't. So either i am looking at the wrong place or they don't have the same things. Imovie 6 has more to offer. Anyway i can import those to imovie 8 or somehow where to get some??? Thax for any help!!

The everlasting question and the eternal answer.
iMovie'08 is sometrhing compleatly different to iMovie 1 to 6.
It's not an upgrade, just a totally different application.
Yes iMovie'08 has some nice features, color correcting etc. BUT lacks the base
of video editing.
iMovie HD 6 has this and much more. That's why Apple are giving it away to iLife08
owners and don't delete it (as with other upgrades) when installing iLife08.
If You find iMovie HD 6 to limited eg color correction , picture rotation,
picture in picture etc. there are two ways to go:
• Plug-ins from third part deliverer
• FinalCut Express
iMovie'08 isn't an upgrade - BUT if You aim for YouTube etc. then this can be of help.
Count the cost and choose vicely.

We can not see your computer, your settings or even know what your source files are because we are not in the same room as you are!
We cant see what you are doing wrong ...so you will have to tell us a lot more and show us some screen grabs of your settings.

Using transitions and effects within a custom component

I have created a custom mxml component page within my
application with an id=Theatre2. When the appropriate button is
clicked in the main application Theatre2 opens by fading in. Within
Theatre2 there are two main canvas containers with
id=theatreLeftMain and theatreRightMain. Within theatreRightMain,
there are several canvas containers with id=aboutus, curriculum,
photos, awards0708 and awards0607. They are stacked on top o of
each other and present via the appropriate button click. I want
these several canvas containers to each “fade in” when
the appropriate button is clicked . I have tried both transitions
and effects but I haven’t been able to get them to work on
these several internal canvas containers. The Theatre2 component
page fades in great. Suggestions as to what to use to fade in these
several containers would be greatly appreciated(effect or
transition? where to put the code? code to use?). Thanks Joe

Saving Sequence and Effects Presets that go with the project itself

Hi, please be gentle as I'm a newbie to the site.
I have been asked to create several master Premiere Pro projects in CC (templates if you like) that will be being sent to quite a few ops worldwide, many of whom are completely new to the Adobe Platform, so I would like to keep things as simple as I can for them.
Is it possible to create sequence presets and a few effects presets that actually go with the project. At the moment when I've tried opening projects on another machine with a different user account, it overwrites everything with their presets and I can't find anything to stop that from happening. I'm assuming it's to do with sync settings.
However, is there a function to allow premiere pro to open the project with the project's last settings (sequence and effects presets) rather than default to the user prefs? As an aside, I'm not interested in workspace or keyboard shortcuts - that's down to them!
If it's not possible, is there a very simple step-by-step workflow I can use? But I'd really like to avoid trying to explain how to install sequence and effect presets to loads of different ops if I can!!
Finally (wrong forum I know) but I need to do exactly the same thing with the assocated After Effects master template projects, so any help on that would be gratefully received too.

Welcome to the forum!
When it comes to effects presets, you should be able to right-click on the Presets in the Effects bin and Export Presets...
The ops can then import the presets using the same method (right-click on the presets in the effects bin and choose Import Presets...)
For sequence presets, I can't find a way to do it within the software. Someone else will probably have to help you find it, but I'm certain there is a file somewhere in your computer that stores all of your Sequence Presets, so it would be a matter of finding and sharing that file with the ops, and then telling them where to put that file.
Hopefully this helps out a little bit!

Saving Transitions and Effects as favorites in PPro CS 6

I am working with Premiere Pro CS 6
I have added transition and changed it parameters a little bit. I want to save this as a favorite so I can use it again and again without having to change the parameters every time.
How can I do this? Can I also do it for filters as well?

You can't manipulate the preset transitions and save that manipulation as far as I know. This is how you do it. - You take a clip and either put a filter on it (lens flare for instance) or manually build the effect you want on it (opacity for a fade in for instance). Then you select/highlight that effect title in the Effects Controls panel - click on the panel menu icon to the upper right of the Effect Controls panel - choose preset - name it - save it.

Dann kam ich vorhin auf ein Video, von einem Youtuber wo ein Lower Third mit einem coolen Effekt mit eingebracht wurde. Dieser Effekt wird mit einem Programm erzeugt welches soweit ich weiß "Twitch" heißt, jedoch kräuselt das Bild etwas stärker und diesen Effekt bekommt man meines Wissen NICHT mit Twitch hin! Meine Frage lautet nun, ob ihr eventuell sehr gute Einstellungen für Twitch kennt bzw. einen eventuellen 2 Effekt den man benutzen kann? Eventuell dieser TV störungseffekt oder so?
ich würde mich freuen, wenn ich so schnell wie möglich eine Antwort erhalte.

Keynote's transitions and effect in Powerpoint

Does anybody knows where I can find a list of Slide Transitions and Build effects of Keynote that really works in Powerpoint ?

iMovie's preference files can easily become corrupted. I can't say for sure, but that might be your problem. Try closing iMovie and then trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will create a new preference file upon relaunch. Before relaunching, also do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility app on your Mac.

Transition and Effect Problems

two problems: 1) i cannot add transitions to my movie. it says the clips are too short and must be 3:46:16 each! but the clip preceding are 7 and 10 seconds long! what do i do? 2) when i want to make a clip black and white, i go to the effects section. i apply it to the clip i want B&W. BUT, when i apply it, it sometimes makes the clip black (just a black screen for the clip with the applied effect). what do i do?

3:36:16 reads as 3minutes, 36 seconds, 16 frames..
you can not apply a 3min long transition to a 10sec clip...
make the transition shorter... 00:00:09 ....
for your B/W problem:
if you're using the 'Quarz Composer b/w', use the slider 'sharpness' to set it correctly...

Available Loops and Effect Presets Disappeared?

Hello.
Been on garage band for about 2 weeks now. Suddenly when I looked at my loop index there was a bunch of them greyed out. They were not like this before. Also, when I click an effect, say "Track Reverb" it doesn't give me any preset options.. They just aren't there, and they were before.
What has happened?

Apologies if I've missed this answer somewhere else...
First day playing with FCE 4. I created a project in iMovie 08 that had a title on a black screen to start the project, transitioned into clip where I had changed the color to b&w. I did "Share" - "Export Final cut XML" then opened the XML in FCE.
When I open it in FCE, I get the following message: "WARNING: Non-critical errors were found while processing an XML document." Then it asks if I want to see a log of those errors. The log says they are apparently errors relating to the transitions from sequence to sequence.
The clip still plays, but the title I put on the black backround is gone, and the color is restored to normal instead of black and white like I set it.
What am I missing?

All I can say is, that for years this type of issue has been the case bringing iMovie stuff into FCE.
Files arrive OK, other "window dressing" mostly does not.
A title and B&W effect is pretty simple in FCE.

Making After Effects lower thirds editable in Premiere Pro

A friend has created some lower thirds using After Effects.
I want to to be able to edit them (change the text entry) within Premiere as I shall be using them a lot.
Is this possible and if so how?

PS. I've just moved over from Final Cut Studio which I've been using for over a decade.

I myself have a couple of different ways to deal with many, many titles or lower thirds in a single project. I am not a fan of making multiple titles using the Premiere Pro Title Designer.
If I make a lower third in After Effects, I can simply change the name in the lower third by animating the source text. I have an example you can see here:
The other way is to use InDesign, which can read a text file with all of the names in it. There is a video link in this thread: Brilliant way to create titles from text files
By the way, if you are trying to get rid of a black background from a 3rd party then perhaps you should be keying it out with a Luma Key. But to get the black to be transparent in Premiere Pro from After Effects, you just need to use the right codec. Like Quicktime Animation, or any of the others that export an alpha channel.

Lower third obcsures video if captions imported

Hi - Got a problem with a lower third I created. It requires 4 video tracks. I have created this within a sequence which - if I pull onto the main sequence - does what I intend, giving me an animated lower third, whilst leaving the underlying video untouched.
Not wanting to copy and paste this lower thirds sequence from project to project, I have rendered it out to an mpg2. However, when I import and pull this mpg2 on to a timeline, it completely obscured the underlying video (the screen is black, except for the caption). What is going on here and is there a way of saving my lower third in such a way this will not happen?

Your MPEG2 has no alpha channel, which is required for transparency.
You can reexport in a format that allows alpha channels, or you can use the Media Browser to 'import' that sequence from one project into the one you're working on.
The better solution might be to recreate that lower third in After Effects, and use Dynamic Link to bring that into each project. This way alone, any changes that might someday need to be made will cascade to every project.

Can Lower Thirds made for AE be used in PR?

I have software to create a lower third for After Effect, but I don't have After Effect.
Can I still create a lower third for in my software for After Effect and still use that same Lower Third in Premiere Pro?

For those of us that are not actually using Digital Juice or sitting besides your computer...tell us what the files are!

Adding a lower-third causes footage to strobe

Every time I add an animated lower-third to my video (DV NTSC 720x486 4:3 interlaced), it causes the video under the lower-third to become stroby, as if the field order were screwed up. I'm not sure what's causing this. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Why would a lower-third affect the footage underneath it anyway?

b Problem Solved
I went to the Matrox forums and was directed to a thread there that was similar to the problem I was having. Here is an answer for anyone who is interested. It did have everything to do with the lower-third not being compatible with the Matrox project settings.
I exported a Targa Image sequence out of Digital Juice. I then right-clicked on the first image in the sequence and went to Matrox AVI + Alpha which will create a Matrox Mpeg2 I-frame + Alpha compatible AVI file (I didn't even know this utility existed, but apparently it's installed with the Matrox drivers). When I created an AVI file from the image sequence, it imported right in to my Matrox Premiere project and didn't need to be rendered. It played back perfectly and didn't cause any problems with the footage underneath.
I wish the guy I called at Matrox would have told me this solution instead of just telling me he couldn't help because Digital Juice was a third-party product.
Oh well.
