Profile and Speed Reductions

Hi, sorry for my first post here to be yet another one about slow Infinity speeds but I would really welcome some help and advice. I switched to Infinity from Total Broadband 3 in early November and initial tests showed my line profile for downloads was 37 Mbps with download speeds just under that figure.
After about a month the download profile and speeds dropped to around 32 Mbps which is what the online estimator forecasted when I signed-up. Over the next few weeks the figures gradually dropped further and then appeared to settle at around 26 Mbps. By the end of December the profile and speeds dropped again to between 20 – 23 Mbps and it was at this time that I decided to upgrade to Infinity 2. This was mainly to obtain the unlimited use but I did hope that it might also help return the profile and speeds to their original figures.
I was therefore surprised to find that since Infinity 2 was activated the profile is now only 17 Mbps  with download speeds of around 16 Mbps. Upload speeds have remained fairly constant throughout at between 5 - 6 Mbps
I presume there must something wrong somewhere but after trying all the recommended checks and tests I am unable to find anything. The modem is an ECI V-2FUb/I Rev.B and the homehub is an HH3 A. All speed tests have been carried out using an Ethernet wired connection. I have recycled and reset the hub but as often advised on here I have left the modem permanently on and connected.
This is the speed test result from this morning...
Can anyone maybe offer any suggestions? Many thanks.
Keith.

Thanks for your replies.
I was always reluctant to try recycling the modem but after reading the posts I switched it off and did as suggested. I also switched off the PC and the homehub. After twenty minutes I booted the PC back up and then powered-up the modem. Finally I powered-up the homehub and after a minute or two everything connected together correctly.
Sadly, I then ran a further speedtest and found the results to be more or less the same as this morning. Thanks for trying to help me though..... I do appreciate it.
I have now contacted the mods and will wait to hear from them.

  • Low IP profile and speeds.

    Morning,
So 27 days ago we had thunder storms up here by me. The power flicked on and off 4 or so times in an hour and since then my speed and IP profile is half what it used to be. I know I have to wait for everything to re-sync, but after 27 days its still not gone back to normal. My friend just down road has a normal service now after the storm.
Tried the quiet line test and all is fine, it just seems that I sync'd back up. Any advice on what to do next would be great.

It says it has in the ADSL status, but when running a speed test, its till the same? Couldn't run the BT one again, must have been too soon after the first test.

  • What Does It Take To Get A Speed Reduction?

I had a lot of problems with my download speed earlier this year, but since the last engineer's visit, my line has be fairly stable and I have been getting a download speed of around 1.5mbps.
I can go for weeks at this sort of level and get no problems. Then, like tonight, I get a single, momentary loss of sync and my download speed is immediately cut in half. It can then take several days to come back up to normal.
So my question is, why is the BT  system so sensitive that it trashes your speed for days as a result of a single blip on the line somewhere? Surely the system should not trash a connection for a single sync loss event. I could understand it if I were getting lots of disconnection, but I'm not.  Is there some sort of sensitivity setting that can be set on the system to stop this sort of unreasonable action being taken for what seems like such a trivial event.
    Thanks.

    inchindown
you are totally correct one bad sync lowers your IP profile and staying connected at that low sync is a total waste of time, if I did that my connection would be at 135kbs all the time but with a target margin of 9db and a noise margin reading 16+db.
When this happens the best thing to do is wait for the noise margin to rise above your target margin and then reset the connection, this is fine so long as you do not do it too oftenm I suggest leaving 10 minutes between resets, I have done this hundreds of times to no ill effect when REIN mucks up my sync rate. Obc you get back to a normal sync rate at least the countdown to the IP profile change can start.
If you want your speed lowered and are willing to lose 3db of speed then you can achieve this yourself, simply unplug the adsl cable around 10 times in the space of 1 hours (letting it sync in between) and the target margin should rise by 3db,
Personaly however I woudl suggest you would be better switching to a router that allows you to in effect adjust the targer margin yourself, the billion 7800N being one such.

  • Camera Profiles and Defaults

I have been using CS5 and am about to install CS6.  For my two cameras, I set up camera profiles and defaults by ISO in Camera Raw.  The defaults include initial noise reduction settings for each ISO.  Will these profiles and defaults transfer to CS6?  If so, can I assume the noise reduction settings will be comparable?  Thanks.

IIRC, all of those settings did transfer when I installed Photoshop CS6.  But I installed CS6 first and then removed CS5.  This broke the external editor link in Lightroom, forcing me to install Lightroom 4 again to reestablish the link.
It's likely that you will have to redo your default settings anyway using the PV 2012 adjustments because they are quite different in some respects.  Noise reduction is improved in the new version, so I think you will probably want to reevaluate your default settings.

  • HH5/Infinty 'resets' regularly and speed is gradua...

Had lots of problems with Orange Broadband earlier this year. I had to constantly reset the router to maintain a reasonable speed that would slowly drop until I reset again (up to a doazen times a day at its worst) Orange organised two visits from BT engineers. First chap replaced the entire line segment at my house after hearing lots of noise on the the line. Problem remained so second chap arrived plugged in a tester which gave him green ticks on the diagnostics (twisted pair basic cable test i presume, as it displayed cable length etc) and reported that 'that was all he could do'.
Orange couldn't offer any further service without charging me (?) so I decided to sign up for BT Infinty.
SInce the end of March when infinity was fitted (ignoring the first settling in week) I've had two weeks of constant resets (HH5 reporting that it was going down in the system events) followed by a month of stable 28 down/8 up. Now for the last 8 days or so I'm back to constant resets that show in the WAN logs as loads of PPP traffic (LCP and IPCP request/acks) and a speeds consistently down to 18 down/5 up. The speed reduction is slightly annoying but the dropouts can be 4 or 5 times an hour which grows tiresome when streaming Netflix or in the middle of changing very important details on banking websites etc.
BT performance test shows 18 down/5 up but cant give extra diagnostics due to a fault ( I've tried several times the last two days)
Quiet line test has some crackle on the line.
2 coincidences - Its not stoppped raining for the last fortnight and a BT engineer was working on the pole outside and a nearby residence at the same time the problem started.
I don t see the point in risking a £130 bill for organising another engineer visit when it was No fault found under Orange.
What do I Do??  Please help. I love the service/HH5/BT Sport online etc and don't want to fight contracts and switch to cable but I am growing tired of phone line faults, for four months now under two different providers.

Sorry folks, thought I might catch the eye of a 'I can help you with that' technician and avoid more level 1 phone calls and/or a hefty bill for another pointless  engineer visit but my forum skills are obviously pretty low. I honestly thought joining BT Infinity would be mostly painless after two months of speaking to Orange.

  • Encoder data and speed calculation with PXI 4472B card

    Hi,
I want to collected time, vibration, encoder and speed signal in one file. I am trying to develop NI by using PXI 4472B and LabView 8.6. Everything is okay but getting only one rpm for speed data. I want to collect continuous data for 15 sec (constant speed) and 15 sec (ramp up speed).
q1. Would you please look into the VI and provide me some suggestions to get continuous speed and all data?
q2. What is the best way (programming etc.) to collect constant speed (100 rpm) and ramp up speed (50-1000rpm) data in two files automatically from one test? Any help?!
    New Labview user.

    Hi Chris,
Thank you for your warm response. Here is the status:
    1. I already tried to use 'Analog Tacho processing' sub-pallette. See the attachment, but the RPM value is not the same/similar with the actual known RPM. However, 'Timing trans..' sub-pallette shows similar speed in terms of frequency to actual known RPM. Do frequency and speed profile value in NI should not be the same/very close? Encoder disk is of 60 pulse/rev and using laser TTL to get the pulses, signal input is into 4472B. Does it neet to extra processing to count the edges of rising?
    2. I prefer ASCII or TEXT. Experiment is for one ramp-up (50-1000rpm) and one steady (100 rpm) for 15 sec each. I will use this data in Matlab. I am looking for help in programming so that single experiment will divide into two separate files of ramp-up and steady speed. File will consists of time, vibration, encoder value (0,1...) and speed.
    Kind regards, Niaz

  • E4200 GigE speed reduction

Just installed the E4200. Strange behavior noticed on switched GigE ports. When connecting directly to my cable modem I get 4.5 mbps upload speed when going through the E4200 I get 1.7 mbps. I have a E3000 and do not see this type of speed reduction when I repeated the test.
    Any thougths or ideas?

If you have enable QoS feature on your Router that will reduce the speed because it will not allow the enough signal to pass from your router to the computer. But its good that you have figured out yourself and it has solved your problem.

  • Stuck profile and pretty sick of liars

Ok, after a powercut on Monday (which was widespread in Co Down), my profile is back on the same, pathetic. "up to 2000kps" profile that it ALWAYS goes on if there is even a hint of thunder or a blip in the electric..
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1842 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :4224 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
I have been on this forum innumerable times with exactly the same problem...as I am very busy and have a digger hired out, I decided to phone the "special" no that India gave me if such a stuck profile happened again (LOL)...
After spending 15mins on the phone to some advisor in India (neither of us could understand each other as I have an Irish accent) trying to explain what a stuck profile was, the advisor was able to see I have had this problem many times before (OH really...duh!!)..
He lied and said they were doing "advanced" tests on my line and they could see no problem...LIAR!!!
Then He said they had reset the profile and it will take 7 days and I will Never have this problem again...LIAR!!
I understand broad band and DLM and it is far too aggressive and is obvously not fit for purpose...I pay for up to 8meg,,,not up to 2meg...
I am really sick of the incompetent LIARS who run their "customer" service...anyone who has been around a while will know that the only way I've got this fixed in the past is to contact the CEO...This time, however, I have had enough and think I'm out of contract,,,I will be requesting my mac code and will be leaving this Internet  Provider
ASAP and will make sure to tell everyone I know about this!!!!!!

I have a long rural line as well and while I can't solve all your issues I can suggest a few things perhaps
firstly the power issue, have you looked to setting your router on a UPS? most use kettle sockets so you would need to make an adapter but Belkin do some that have normal sockets. Would not last long but does filter and smooth out issues with the power and if you just have the router on it even a fairlly small model would give you a fair while, mine certainly last way longer than I takes me to fire up the backup generator.
Fixed profiles may well be a solution for you but should the line be upgraded at any stage you may then loose out.
You might also see if BT will check that you are on the best pair possible, for example where I am there are no spare pairs but further back nearer the exchange there is a 50 pair 0.9 cable about 1km in length and onlly about 10 lines were switched to it as of yet (mine included) and that made a huge difference to my service when I got it done in 2006 after a nearer section had been downgraded during a replacement.
I am told that if you can get any section swapped from /5 to .6 then that is even better than the same length of .6 being changed to .9 but either way any up in conductor size tends to be a huge help.
BTW would strongly suggest you try using a BT business hub not the netgear, I have tried many routers including the netgear but the business hub seems to have something extra that helps my line a lot, I now tend to get a steady noise margin during the day rather than frequent fluctuations, I suspect it is impluse noise protection but may be wrong there. Worth getting one of ebay to try.

  • Sort Profile and field LAGP-SORLP

    Dear fellow warehousers,
In our storage bins we use the field REIHF for sorting our picks. After assigning it to a profile and assigning this profile to our movement this works very well.
The sort field for putaway -LAGP-SORLP- however- I am not allowed to assign to a sort profile: it cannot be selected from the pull down list <F4>
Populating the field I can do in various ways, manual, CATT, using the Cross-line placement config, but I want to be able to sort it in a different direction.
Does anyone have experience with this challenge?

I do not recognise which home hub you are using. If you look at this page ADSL stats, you will see what I mean.
Its not possible to see how long your router has been running since you last reset it.

  • Broadband connection and speed problems

    Hi,
On Wednesday morning my broadband connection went down and could not reconnect from 600am til 700pm. It did manage to get a connection to stay up at around 900pm, but since then the connection has dropped about four times a day.
I have checked my equipment, wiring etc, connected directly to the test socket, using  a new ADSL microfilter etc etc. I have also checked for known problems in my area and have done some quiet call tests(17070).
There are apparently no problems in my area, but a couple of the quiet call tests were crackly.
Since last night (Friday) at around 900pm the connection has managed to stay up but my connection speeds, both up and down are much much lower than they used to be.
Since Wednesday night I have performed some BT speedtests.
D/L Profile for my line is - 17.64 Mbps, but actual speed currently varies between around 8 and 11 Mbps.
U/L Profile for my line is - 0.83 Mbps, but speed currenty varies between 0.01 and 0.3 Mbps.
Before Wednesday, my download speeds were typically 16-17Mbps and upload speeds were typically 0.8Mbps.
    With very little variation.
I have included some stats from my BT HH3...

One thing that stands out is the Noise Margin of 4.9dB and now 3.2dB. I gather that these values are on the low side. Is 3.2dB acceptable?
I assume my line attenuation values are low as I live very close to my local exchange. I assume that these values are good.
There are some CRC HEC and Error Seconds values. I must admit that I dont fully understand these but I assume these are not good.
One other thing worth mentioning is that the phone cable to my property comes along my front wall over from a neighbouring property. Whilst checking this cable this morning in the daylight, I have noticed that someone, most probably my neighbour, has pulled the cable way from its fixing on the wall in order to put a fence post up on the wall.
The fence post has been there for a few months, with no apparent affect ro my phone and broadband, but I'm concerned that this could have damaged the cable, splitting the shielding or breaking a wire in the cable, or perhaps loosened the connectors to the juntion box it is connected to on the neighbours wall.
Could damage to the cable be the cause of my connection and speed problems?
Also, is it possible that my BTHH3 is faulty?
Any advice would be very welcome.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    A little more information.
I have noticed that on a number of occasions when making or receiving voice calls, the broadband connection completely drops. It doesnt happen on all calls, and doesnt seem to happen when just going 'offhook' and listening to a dialling tone.
There is a definite crackle and hiss on most of the voice calls. But only seems to be audible on the home phone.
After a little browsing, I came upon a logging program "Routerstatshub". When I leave this running it logs changes to ADSL stats.
Looking at the logs, I've noticed that when making voice calls, the upstream noise margin always seems to drop considerably, sometimes down to 0dB.
On some calls, both upstream and downstream noise margin drop to 0dB and the broadband connection drops.
I have also noticed that upstream line attenuation increases from around 5dB to around 28dB every hour or so. This doesnt appear to coincide with the voice calls.
CRC and HEC error increase dramatically at the same time as the noise margin changes. HEC goes up by 10s of thousands.
I'm still directly connected into the mastersocket with a new microfilter and no extension cable.
By the way, my connection speeds went down to an all time low yesterday , 1.7Mbps down.
I have now replaced my DECT phone with a corded phone and will make some more voice calls to see if that makes any difference.
Any ideas about what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated.

Our Customer have about 50 IPMA and there are work. The problem is only with 4 IPMA Assistance (always the same). Sometimes (few times in week) lost  Assistance  icon Managers, and Managers doesn’t see shared lines, Intercom, services IPMA on phone doesn’t work. But sometimes Assistant icon is showing but Manager don’t see active connection and can’t call via Intercom.
Assistance have 7962 Phone with load cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.9-2-3.cop.sgn
Managers have 7965 Phone with load cmterm-7945_7965-sccp.9-2-3.cop.sgn
    CUCM (PUB/SUB) is 8.6.2.20000-2
I opened a TAC case already but the problem is not resolved.

  • ODI Data Profiling and Data Quality

    Hi experts,
Searching about ODI features for data profiling and data quality I found (I think) many ... extensions? for the product, that confuse me. Cause I think there are at least three diferents ways to do data profiling and data quality:
In first place, I found that ODI has out of the box features for data profiling and data quality, but, acording to the paper, this features are too limited.
The second way I found was the product Oracle Data Profiling and Oracle Data Quality for Oracle Data Integrator 11gR1 (11.1.1.3.0) that is in the download page of ODI. Acording to the page, this product extends the existing inline Data Quality and Data profiling features of ODI.
Finally, the third way is Oracle Enterprise Data Quality that is another product that can be integrated to ODI.
I dont know if I understood good my alternatives. But, in fact, I need a general explanation of what ODI offer to do Data Quality and Data profiling. Can you help me to understand this?
    Very thanks in advance.

Hi after 11.1.1.3 version of ODI release, oracle no longer supports ODP/ODQ which is a trillium software product and this not owned by oracle. Oracle is recommending the usage OEDQ for quality purposes. It's better if you could spend time on OEDQ rather than trying to learn and implement ODP/ODQ in ODI

  • Oracle Data Profiling and Data Quality

    Hi,
How to create metabase for Oracle Data Profiling and Data Quality. Is metabase and repository are same.

    Hi,
You can create a metabase in the Metabase Manager:
    - Expand Control Admin
    - Click on Metabases
    - in the Metabases window, right-click on the white area and select Add...
    - go through the wizard to create your metabase
This is documented in the ODQ/ODP tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle-data-quality/pdf/oracledq_tutorial.pdf) and in the Documentation (in Metabase Manager or Oracle Data Quality go to Help and then Manuals).
    Thanks,
    Julien
