  • Why doesn't Mozilla Firefox admit Profile bug, regarding "unresponsive plugin" Shockwave problem?

I'm a longtime user, more than 10 years, of Firefox and of Netscape before that. This is the first time I've ever seen "unresponsive plugin," let alone for Shockwave. I followed _every_ solution suggested. Checked up-to-date of plugins and reinstalled several even though they were up to date. Even reinstalled Firefox. Ran a complete Norton scan on my system (totally clear). Finally. On the ADOBE help forum, not on Mozilla's (!!!), someone said that blowing away their Profile and starting anew fixed the problem. This is a drastic step, because it nukes every saved Firefox bookmark and setting. BUT IT WORKS. Dear Mozilla Progammers: You have a PROFILE bug. Please admit it and fix it.

Hi cumulus, <br/> sorry you have had a problem.
It is good to know it is fixed. Had you posted here first you would almost certainly have fixed your issue without loosing bookmarks.
Everyone's profile is different it contains the individual users settings
    * see [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]
Using a new profile may well be one fix for some such problems although it is the proverbial sledgehammer and nut approach. There is a long thread about this that I recently locked as it was getting totally unreadable.
    * Warning: Unresponsive Plugin; Shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. [/questions/957423]
** The Firefox Reset one popular solutions removes most of the profile
** A clean reinstall could optionally remove the Firefox Profile
** Other solutions and topics are linked from that thread.
    * Creating a new profile and trying using that would have been a better suggestion <br /> [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]
This sort of problem can have more than one cause. If removing the profile solves the issue then a less drastic method that almost certainly would work is to create and use a new profile and use that ''without'' destroying the original profile. (Copy the original profile elsewhere)
    * see [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
It is highly likely that only part of the profile causes the problem.
    * [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]
As noted in the other thread this forum is not a place where you will get developer attention.
===Do you have the ''Profile Bug'' ?===
<u>OR Unresponsive Plugin Problem, with FlashPlayer </u>
If there is a ''profile bug'' then a bug report may be filed for developers attention, and the first stage of doing that is to be able to carefully document steps to reproduce the problem
*. So anyone ''blowing away the profile'' should first of all back it up
**Being able to reinstall the faulty profile should then reproduce the problem and so demonstrate clearly that the profile is the cause of the problem <br /> Or just use the profile manager to switch profiles it is simpler and quicker
** Next even before considering filing a bug try reinstalling or activating different parts of the profile to narrow down the problem.
If anyone does run in to this bug and needs help

  • Shockwave Flash Keeps Coming Up With A Window That Has A Unresponsive Plugin?

The Shockwave Flash window keeps coming up when I am on the Internet. Most of the time. It says Warning: Unresponsive Plugin. Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete. I need help fixing this issue. I am using Firefox also. Let me know how to resolve this issue. I appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Unresponsive flash (see also /questions/970014)

Any solution to this shockwave/firefox problem that so many people are having? been happening for weeks, i think I'll stop using this browser if mozilla doesn't come up with a fix

Maybe you will just have to use another browser such as Google Chrome when you need to watch Flash Player content. There is normally no problem using more than one browser on a computer.
No doubt you read through the other thread [/questions/970014] and will have tried the suggestions there. By the way the protected mode Flash Problem does not apply with Window XP, so at least that is one problem you need not contend with.
This sort of problem seems to affect some people and not others. Filing a bug with Adobe the FlashPlayer developers may be worth a try or even filing a bug with Firefox developers. I am wondering what you see exactly and how easy it is to reproduce. For instance if you go to a named Flash Player content does it always become unresponsive almost immediately or is it more of an intermittent problem, and what if any error messages do you see.
You appear to be on Firefox 23 and should try letting Firefox update to Firefox 24. In fact I would be tempted to suggest if you get Flash hangs or crashes that it would be worth trying installing Firefox Aurora as an additional browser because that has a new experimental reporter on it that specifically addresses existing problems with FlashPLayer reports.
    Clutching at straws, rather but
    * I do note you have both Shockwave director and Flash Player installed. Try uninstalling Shockwave Director, you possibly have no need to have that installed does that help ?

  • How can I stop receiving the "unresponsive plugin" warning?

I originally posted this question in the "Using Flash Player" forum on 9/19/13 but got no replies.
For the past 3 weeks, I keep receiving the following warning:
"Shockwave  Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the  plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will continue."
I know this question has been asked before, but none of the proposed solutions have worked for me.
I have installed and unistalled Firefox and Shockwave Flash many times.  I am now on Firefox Version 24.
    Shockwave Flash
    File: NPSWF32_11_8_800_168.dll
    Path: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_11_8_800_168.dll
    Version: 11.8.800.168
    State: Enabled
    Shockwave Flash 11.8 r800
I am disabled and my computer is my lifeline to the world.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason, the number of "unresponsive plugin" warnings that I am receiving has remained at around 2-3 per day (for the past 4 days) versus the 15-20 per day that I had been receiving for the prior 3 weeks.  Please bear in mind that I uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and Adobe so many times, I am not sure what step helped remedy the problem.
BTW, I am running Windows Vista Home Basic (32 bit).
    1.  I went to the "Help" Menu in Firefox and clicked on "Troubleshooting Information."  I then clicked on "Reset Firefox" in the upper right part of the screen.
    2.  I am now running Firefox Version 24.0.
    3.  I just now went back to the "Troubleshooting Information" tab and looked at the "Application Basics" section and clicked on "about:plugins" in the Enabled Plugins row.  What I just discovered is that this section has changed!
Previously, I showed just Shockwave Flash (see my original post above.)  I am now showing Shockwave Flash and Shockwave for Director.

    4. I just went to my Control Panel and looked in "Programs and Features."  I see that on 9/26/13, I installed Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0.
Whether this installation is what remedied the problem I do not know, but this is the only concrete evidence I can point to.
Finally, I think solving problems like this is made more difficult because in some instances Adobe uses the terms "Shockwave Player" and "Adobe Flash Player" interchangeably but in other instances seems to make a distinction.
I would like to thank all the people who replied to my post.

  • Unresponsive Plugin

I'm having problem with my computer with the shockwave playing games in Facebook. I get notice unresponsive plugin is not responding sometimes it crash. My Adobe Flash player is up to date but in the game the notice said shockwave flash maybe busy. The game i'm getting notice is Chefville.

Ask on a forum for the Flash Player (I looking forward to Adobe fixing whatever's wrong so that these messages will stop being posted at all, much less in the wrong forum)

  • Unresponsive plugin - google chrome

I am hoping someone can help me.  I have the net protect plus which has just been updated.  Since the update google chrome keeps crashing and i get the "aw snap" message.  I also get a pop up saying unresponsive plugin unknown - shockwave.  This happens when I am trying to view videos on my blog site and in face book games such as zoo world.   Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

    Hi,
I am running XP and BT Macafee and had a similar problem. To cut a long story short it was a virus which had succeeded in switching off the firewall and part of the Macafee Anti virus. The fix was to download the anti malware program "Malwarebyte" (Google it) which found two trojans. Worth a try.....

  • Error message "Warning: Unresponsive Plugin" flash crashes when not connected to HDMI

EVERY time I try to open a web page that has a video like Facebook or Youtube, I get an error message saying "Warning: Unresponsive Plugin" and the flash ultimately crashes. I tried updating the flash plugin and the problem was not solved. I recently noticed that when I plugged my laptop to my HDTV via an HDMI cable that this problem was not occuring. As soon as I took out the HDMI cable and went to Youtube I got the error message. Is there an option that might need to be changed that's causing this problem? I tried opening those pages in Internet Explorer and got a very similar error. It's probably not a Firefox problem but I'm hoping to find out if there is something in my PC that needs to be modified for this error to not occur again.

    Hi alrayes,
I suspect it is an issue with your video drivers.
If you go to your PC manufacturer's website (e.g. Dell, HP,...) and look up your model they should have links to download the drivers.
Alternatively, (assuming your PC does not have integrated graphics) you can go to your video card manufacturer's website, and they will have the very latest drivers.
Let us know if you figure it out.

  • Have i found another big bug? from 2nd monitor profile bug to Exp panel bug

Well 2.0.1 is out and i was hoping for a fix for the second monitor color profile bug ... but no, not yet.
But guess what .. i think i have found another little treat.
Ok here we go, click on the Exposure, Recovery or Black Point sliders (but don't move them), notice anything?
On my system as soon as you click, the shadows block up. Take your finger of the button and they shadows go back to normal.
Next .. click and slide, when the button is down... blocked shadows again, release the button and shadows open up.
This also happens in the White balance panel.
Also we still have the tint slider problem, click it and it jumps the tint.
The exposure and white balance problem only happens in full screen mode.
It happens on my second monitor when running in mirror or alternate (or any other of the settings)
If i press the F key and go full screen on my macbook pro, the same thing happens on the macbook's screen.
Press the Z key to zoom to 100% and the problem goes away on either screen.
But get this ..... click any of the sliders in the Enhance panel before going to the Exposure panel (you don't have to move them), then go back to the exposure panel and...EVERYTHING FINE.....whaaaaaaat.
So now i have a second monitor with dodgy colors and an exposure panel glitch.
    Thought this was an update!!!
    Anyone else got this problem?
Oh, just to add, i have deleted pref files, deleted aperture altogether, re-installed 2.0 and 2.0.1, rebuilt library, tried on another library...all with no joy.
    Sigh

    Thanks in anticipation.

You will need to contact Support in your country to get the security questions reset (these are user-to-user forums) : Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security (if your account's password has been changed then they should also be able to reset that for you)
When they've been reset you can then use the steps on this page to change the rescue email address to an account that you have access to, for potential future use : Manage your Apple ID primary, rescue, alternate, and notification email addresses

  • Bug in Plugin Check's status report for Adobe Flash

Plugin Status (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/) says "Shockwave Flash 15.0 r0" "Up to Date 15.0.0.152". This is incorrect. The latest version of Flash (as of 11/11/2014) is 15.0.0.223, as reported by Adobe's Test Page. Therefore, the status should say "Vulnerable".
I am using Firefox ESR 31.2.0 without any addons on a Windows 7 64-bit PC.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
    Ed

Mine says "Up to Date 15.0.0.189" which as you point out also is incorrect.
A bug has been filed for this, but I can't tell whether the problem has been fully diagnosed and anyone is going to pick up the ball and run with it:

  • Aperture 3 embedded color profile bug still unsolved (worked in Ap 2)

RE: Aperture 3.x cannot display images with certain color profiles embedded. This bug was reported
on March 11, but is still unsolved and basically makes Aperture 3 unusable for my large collection
of scanned slides which have a special color profile embedded. Viewer and sometimes Browser turns
    either black or go haywire.
    What is it about:
When you scan slides with a scanner, you can generate a special color profile so that the image
looks good and you can then embed this profile in the scanned tiff and jpeg images. Most pro applications honor the embedded profile and display the image correctly. In our case, we
generated a special profile named Nikon-LS5000 (it was tested for correctness!):
    1) It worked fine in Aperture 2.x
    2) It never worked in Aperture 3.x
    3) It does not depend on the Operating System (i.e, the bug manifests itself in 10.6.2, 10.6.3 and now in 10.6.4)
    4) It is no question of a special Mac Model (the bug shows on iMacs, ibook profs, and iMacs 2010)
    5) It is irrelevant whether you start Aperture 3 in 32-bit or 64-bit mode
    6) It shows with jpegs or tiffs, no matter
    7) Preview.app or Photoshop CS4 display the images correctly!
    8) If one changes the embedded profile via PS CS4 to sRGB or ProPhoto, Aperture 3 works (but the
image then has radically different colors - so no solution!)
    9) The conclusion is that something affecting the processing of (some?) embedded color profiles has radically changed from Aperture 2 to Aperture 3.
I put a few jpegs with embedded color profiles and screenshots of how Aperture 3 behaves on the Picasa web:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/114939413495021552399/TestapertureBilder#
you are invited to download the jpeg- images and retry in your ownAperture 3 Library.
Maybe together we can find out what causes this bug which is very annoying for any
    serious photographer.

I have put the test material on another server - you can download a
zipped folder (Aperture3profilebug.zip) of all test images AND the color profile from
    https://depot.uni-konstanz.de/get/txau69
with any browser. (The problem was that the Picasa Software seems to strip the color profiles from
the test images, so I had to put them on another server. It will remain there until July 1).
    Regards and thanks for helping

  • Enterprise Manager 11g Sybase Plugin architecture question

    Hi,
have successfully installed and configured Grid 11g on RedHat Enterprise 5.5. Deployed and configured agents to solaris and linux environments..so far so good.
However, we're going to test the Sybase ASE plugin to monitor ASE with EM. My question is a simple one and I think I know the answer but I'd like to see what you guys think of this.
We'd like to go with a simple centralised agent rather than one agent/plugin per sybase machine, atleast for the tests. No doubt there may be pro's (first one clearly being one of a single point of failure - welll we can live with this for now) to this approach. My instinct is to install the oracle agent/plugin on a machine other than the grid machines itself, however the question arose - why not install the ASE plugin on the grid infrastructure machine agents themselves? Pros and cons?
The architecture we have currently : repository database configured to failover between 2 redhat boxes. 2 OMS running 1 on each of these boxes configured behind SLB using nfs based shared upload directory. One 'physical agent' running on each box. Simple for now. But I have the feeling , given that the Sybase servers will communicate or be interrogated via the sybase plugin directly to the grid infrastructure machines placing load etc on them , and in case of problems might interfere with the healthy running of the grid. Or am I being over cautious?

well I have followed the common sense approach and avoided the potential problem by installing on a remote server and configuring the plugin on this.
Seems to be working fine and keeps the install base clean..

  • BUG: Perforce Plugin having problems on JDev 10.1.3.0.4 (SU4) on Mac OS X

I've downloaded the Perforce plugin, and try to connect to the Perforce server here. When I click Versioning > Connect to Perforce... first it takes a long time for the dialog box to open, next I fill in:
    - username
    - password
    - leave remember password unchecked
    - port
    - client
But neither the "Test Connection" button, or "OK" button is enabled. I've tried this combination of entering data into the dialog fields, and many other combinations (leave password blank, etc...) No combination enables these two buttons. This leaves me unable to connect to Perforce! Please help....
    My Environment:
Mac OS X (Intel) on a Mac Book Pro
    P4 Command Line tools installed
    P4 Server: Server version: P4D/LINUX24X86/2005.2/94595 (2006/03/05)
    JDev 10.1.3.0.4
    ADF Business Components     10.1.3.36.73
    Java™ Platform     1.5.0_06
    Oracle IDE     10.1.3.36.73
    Struts Modeler Version     10.1.3.36.73
    UML Modelers Version     10.1.3.37.26
    Versioning Support     10.1.3.36.73

Try setting P4PORT and P4CLIENT in a command shell, then launching JDeveloper from the shell using start jdeveloper.app.
If the port is picked up correctly the client dropdown should be populated and the OK button enabled. This works for me.
The same should work from the gui though, I'll investigate and see if there is a bug logged.
    Thanks,
    Geoff

  • Tree component bug (?) and some questions

Hi! I have some problems and questions about tree component.
    Problems:
    1. I have an expanded tree with ~300 items. Each item label
displayed in 2-3 strings. After QUICK tree scrolling using mouse
wheel (I make 3-5 scrolls) for most of items displayed only last
string and one empty string :(
Bug of tree renderer? Is it fixable?
    Questions:
    1. Can I have font color X for tree item 1 and font color Y
    for tree item 2?
    2. I have a tree with ~300 items. Expand/Collapse tree
operations takes 5 to 10 seconds on Core2Duo. Is it possible to
    speed up this operations?
    Code:

    Hello.
    About problem 1.
I faced this problem several times, cann't understand the
problem. May be it's a bug.
    Questions.
    1. Of course you can. Write itemRenderer for this.
    2. Tree has effects for expanding and collapse events, you
    can reduce times for them.
