Profile dropped after 9 stable months

OK so I had infinity installed in March and have had a stable 37 meg down and 8 meg up ever since.  My profile according to BT speedtester was 38617k.  I have however got up this morning and seen that my speeds have dropped dramatically (14meg down and 4 meg up).  Looking on the speedtester site my profile had dropped to 15000k, so after a call to India, they identified there was an issue with my line and said it would be fixed in 24 hrs with no need for an engineer to call.
However I have just had a call from India asking if my speed had improved - it has (now getting 20 meg down 5 meg up - profile set at 21000kl), but still nearly half of what I was getting.  I asked for my profile to be reset to what it originally was and was told an engineer needed to come out tomorrow to resolve this
I hope they can restore my original profile tomorrow and this isnt the start of any issues - so far I have been impressed by BT.
Heres hoping?

Chris,
Thanks for the reply and the interest.............it went very well back to 37meg down and 8 meg up. The engineer said the culprit was more than likely my old modem (which is one of the first and was due to be swapped out via Kellys in the new year).
The engineer did say it may be a bit of a battle to get the profile reset as it was over 15 meg and they dont normally do it in that instance, however they did and I am good to go again.
I have to say this, im really pleased with BT, I know you only tend to hear from people when things go bad, but my experience has been one of efficient service/results.
Thanks once again - All the best to you and your colleagues/families for the festive period and have a happy and prosperous 2012!

  • Device Group Profile Drops after changes are saved

Why do Device Group Profiles drops after applying a change? Some will get it no problem but some lose the profile thus losing network connectivity then requiring manual intervention.

Thanks to all who replied, however..
If the settings were stored int he CPL file ( which would be very odd but there it is ) I would expect that I could create a CPL file with the settings I want on one computer, and copy them to the same folder on another computer whose settings I want to standardize in the domain, however, this does not appear to be the case. I copied the entire ..\Program Files\Quicktime folder from one computer which had the settings I wanted, to another computer which didn't. The settings did not follow the copied Quictime folder and contents, so, with all respect and gratitude due to those who replied, I don't think settings are stored in the CPL file or any other file in the Quicktime folder.
In any case, I don't really care where they are stored, I just need a way to propagate a single set of settings across multiple computers in a domain. I've never run across an application before that was so reistant to this type of thing...
    Thanks again

  • Wifi Drops after about a month

As I've searched around the forum, I've seen many discussions on wifi connectivity, but not exactly this. My Ipod Touch 3G works great, but almost to the day, every month, I lose connectivity. Signal strength shows good and dispite trying everything on the touch, to fix this, I always resort to re-booting the router. I look at it as one of my monthly chores. Anyone got an idea or fix? Router has the latest firmware and also running latest OS on the touch.

Since rebooting the router fixes it, I think you found the answer to your question - it's your router or it's your ISP. I can't think of any router settings (other than lease times) that would cause anything like this to happen. I'm blaming your ISP.

  • Another IP Profile Dropped

    Hi
Seems to be a pattern emerging of people slowing down due to ip profile drops and im the same.
On infinity 2 i used to get the full speed ie 70+mbs down and 19 mbs up.
I have had a few restarts 2 weeks ago due to a power cut ... then i had some electrical work don in the house so power was on and off etc.
Then had a firmware updaye on my modem ( Asus-DSL AC68U ) which again needs restarts etc.
How ever my conection has been solid for nearly 14 days with very very low crc errors but im stuck with an ip profile of 49mbs and now Interleaved instead of FastPath.
I have read before it can take 10 days to settle and then should creep back up over the next few days / weeks but this doesnt seem to be happening.
My line is very quiet so no problems there.
I was told by BT India that my ip profile is low because im on wireless and should change my wireless channel and itll go back up to 70mbs again   How on earth does the channel im on cause my ip profile to drop???? Its not as if being on the wrong channel causes a router restart . They must think people are stupid and just tell you anything to get rid of you.
I use Insidder and can see the wireless networks around me and im the only one on 5Ghz band and the signal has no noise.
Even testing on a wired connection gives the same results.
Anyway how long do i have to wait to get my full speed service again instead of paying full price for whats now a slower service ??
I will add a screen shot of my router stats .

it does look like it's due to all the resyncs. I had something similar around 5 weeks ago - a fault in the cabinet caused multiple failed resyncs over a 4 hour period and DLM applied interleaving the next day. US interleaving was removed after 15 days but I'm still waiting for DS interleaving to be removed 3 weeks later. Line is stable with only one or two Errored Seconds per hour.
    I'm afraid it's just a waiting game...

  • Wireless Connection drops after a few moments

    Hello everbody!
Background: I have a cheap laptop with a windows only ACPI module, so I have to set acpi=off at all times anyway. I tried Ubuntu, which has the wireless problem too, but instead of repairing something bloated like Ubuntu, I now found my way to Arch to make it right from the beginning.
If the wireless problem gets solved, I want to go on installing the nvdia driver, maybe configure xmonad. (I want to try KDE4 for fun too though, eyecandy you know ) Simple working desktop without getting my laptop heated up like windows does.
The problem: I set up my wireless connection like the wiki says:
-The original SSID was "FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 Annex A" which I tried to escape with \ and using 'ssid'. This wouldn't work at all, if you have any explanation for that I'd love to know it. I changed the SSID to something without spaces and special characters and the connection would work. But it would be nice to change it back to the original.
-So it works now. Fine, I thought. But the connection drops after a few moments and I have to "killall wpa_supplicant dhcpcd" and start them again to make it work again. For a few moments only. So I went through the logfiles and found error messages which Google wouldn't help me solve on my own. Now I'm asking the Arch specialists here
Note: Using the partedmagic livecd, the wireless connection works out of the box and absolutely stable. I believe even a bit faster than under windows. So it has to work perfectly, I just don't know how to make it in Arch yet.

Thanks in advance to anyone helping me! I really really want to get Arch going. It's ideal for this laptop, no wasting of disk space, ressource friendly, the temperature doesn't go up as much with less cpu usage I guess..
I've written quite a bit, but hopefully this makes it easier for you to help me! I've included all I thought which could be useful.
    Greetings from Germany,

The easiest solution might be to setup NetCfg somehow with your wifi card and access point.  Have you tried that?  Can you find your card's chipset on the wiki?(chances are that your particular chipset will need a firmware put into /lib/firmware.  Again that's found on the wiki on the NetCfg or Wifi page, I forget which sorry.)  Those are two places where I'd look for good information.
By the way, your rc.conf is way out of date.  You should look at updating it by using the recent rc.conf.pacnew file that you'll find in the /etc directory.

  • Video constantly drops after screen sharing

Im on a brand new laptop running windows 8 just bought less than a month ago and the first thing I did when I got this thing was downloaded skype, its versaion 7.6. Before this, on my desktop and older laptops, Ive never had any problems. As of either this version of skype or this laptop (which I couldnt assume it would be the laptop when its brand new, but who knows) any time I am in a video call and screen share, the video will drop after roughly 10 - 30 seconds. Consistantly. First it shows whoever I am talking to's video drop, then mine. The call remains and we can reinitiate video, but it just keeps dropping every few seconds. It will go on until the call is closed and remade. It is quite annoying. I would like to get an older version of skype (7.4 maybe?) and try it out there to see if its the version or not, but I cant find any links to them. If anyone has any idea what is causing this, or has a link to an actual 7.4 download, Id appreciate it.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • Calls dropped after 5:02

Trying to call landlines with Android phone, but the call repeatedly drops after 5:02 (according to the call log). This happened with the latest Android version, so I tried downgrading but that didn't help.
The internet connection is stable, i.e. I don't experience any other drop in connectivity, especially every 5 minutes.
Any thoughts? What can I do to prevent this from happening?
    LG 4X HD
    Android 4.1.2
    Skype 4.9.0.45564
    Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the Skype Community.
From your account it appears that a percentage of calls are dropped while others behave normally.
    Checking for you.

Already gone through troubleshooting guide a zillion times. Thanks.

This worked for me... A little time consuming but once you get rolling it goes GREAT... Thanks....
I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now.

Typically you have a codec or media resource issue to track down.  IE, MTP, region, location, gateway trunk to trunk to call or something in that area.   Bypass UCCX and do the same call without this app... does it happen with a normal call?

  • Bluetooth dropping after update to 10.6.8

The bluetooth connection between my Nokia BH-908 headsets and my mac mini periodically drops after I upgraded to 10.6.8.   Restarting blued daemon via Bluetooth Explorer does not fix the problem; I have to reboot the computer to restore the connection.   I've tried resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and I attempted to delete the device and re-pairing it.  Neither of those things worked, the headset sill drops periodically.    This is what the kernel logs say when the device drops:
    Aug  8 07:01:41 kernel[0]: E:[AppleUSBBluetoothHCIController][BulkOutWriteCompleteHandler] ERROR2: 0xe0004006; sizeRem=00000059; isInactive = 0, suspended = 0
    Aug  8 07:01:41 kernel[0]: E:[AppleUSBBluetoothHCIController][SendACLData] Bulk out [ACL] data failed. (error = 0xe000404f )
    Aug  8 07:01:42: --- last message repeated 20 times ---
Again, this only started happening after I upgraded to 10.6.8.   Any suggestions for resolving this issue?

It was a good suggestion, but unfortunately that didn't solve the prolem.   Here's the Bluetooth Exploer actions I tried:

Project deleted in iPhoto 11 ver. 9.1.1
After spending three months building a twenty six page Book Project in iPhoto i added a page and later decided to delete the page. I selected the page, pressed the delete key and confirmed the delete dialog box ( i didn't read, dummy) by pressing the delete button. The whole project was gone, the undo menu was grayed out and there was nothing in the iPhoto trash about my Book.
Surly I can find this if I knew the path to find the project in a library on a back column I have of my hard drive.. Could anyone help me?

Sorry I'm having a hard time getting this.
If I go to my hard drive BIGMAC>Library>Application Support>iPhoto>the only thing in this folder is Themes.
However, when I "Get Info" it's 580MB for 24,421 items. iPhoto says I have 35,977 photos. I would think the database would be into the GB for this many photos.
If I go to BIGMAC>system>Library>I find nothing about iPhoto
Is the iPhoto file in the Application Support the one I need to replace with my backup?
Thanks so much for your help.

  • Can't drag and drop after update

can't drag and drop after update

hi Dustin, maybe with a bit more info someone will be able to help with this:
what Mac OS System version are you using?
what is it you are 'dragging and dropping'? : Is this drag and drop of text in InDesign? Or are you dragging and dropping from the Mac OS (e.g. a file from a folder) into InDesign?
If you are referring to drag and drop from OS into InDesign: I'm thinking this 'might' be a Mac OSX issue. If you look over at https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa there seem to be plenty of issues with drag and drop across different OS versions.
Next time it stops working whilst you are in InDesign, does it still work in other programs? That is one way of determining if this is caused by InDesign or the operating system. If it is the OS, my guess is that it stops working in other applicaitons as well.
    Hope this helps,

Why can't I make any calls on facetime, the call drops after saying connecting for a few seconds. I'm using an iphone 5, 32 GB on IOS 6.0.1 over 3G network in Muscat, Oman. Just to be clear, I was able to make facetime call in Muscat about a week ago.

  • IPod not charging after only 6 months

After only 6 months, my iPod (color display) seems to have stopped taking charges. When plugged into computer, a very faint image appears saying something like "Battery power very low." We brought to an iPod store. They said the battery is fine, and sold us a cord for plugging into wall outlet. We left it charging overnight, but it still doesn't work (it does work while plugged into wall).
Could the battery really be dead after only 6 months?
Does it really cost $80 to have a battery replaced?
Is there really no way to get support from Apple directly to answer questions like these?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Please note that
Normally, the battery should needs to be replacement around 18 months, yours is 6 months -Hummm.
Where did you buy it? Are you sure it is a brand new one? iPod with colour display have came to market for quite some time.
Try to do a reset and recharge your iPod again.
If still does not work, you can go to Apple shop again, your iPod should covered by 12 months warranty
