Profile for new lens

I use LR 3.5.  I just bought Canon's new EF40mm f1:2.8 lens.  Is there a LR profile for this lens?  If so, how do I obtain and install it?

The LPD used to be on Labs but is no longer searchable, there, but if you search www.adobe.com it’ll come right up:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?term=lensprofiledownloader&loc=en_us&siteSec tion=home
Add the keyword Mac to your search if you need that version, otherwise he Windows version is what shows up closer to the top of the search results.  Be sure to get the newest one, 1.0.1 release the beginning of October.

  • Lens correction profile for new Sigma 12-24 mark II

    Hi
Sigma 12-24mm f4.5-f5.6 II has been out for a while. But i can not find a lens correction for it in lightroom. Does anyone know if there is such a profile ??

Adobe does not announce release dates for new profiles. However, you can except that the next minor release upgrade after the release of the lens will bring the profile to LR.

  • Lens Profiles for Tokina Lens

Is there any support for Tokina's Lens?  I was hoping LR4 would have it but there are no profiles.  The new Corel Aftershot Pro has them.
    just asking.

Do you know about the lens profile downloader? It's a tool where you can easily download user created profiles for many lenses that are not yet included in LR. Get it here: http://blogs.adobe.com/labs/archives/2010/10/the-lens-profile-downloader-now-available.htm l The companion app Lens profile creator allows you to fairly easily create profiles yourself for your own lens/camera combinations.
I created a profile for Tokina's 11-16 mm (nikon version) for example and that you can download using the profile downloader app.

  • I use a Canon MPE-65 almost exclusively and can't find a profile for this lens in the LR 5 lens correction panel.

Is Adobe planning to add this lens profile? Or is there a workaround?

I don’t think Adobe can make lens profiles for this specialized macro lens.
Lens profiles correct for geometric distortions and vignetting, and both of these change based on subject distance, aperture, focal length and for this lens, the 1x-5x zoom setting.
Lens profile files consist of a series of corrections for various combination of the above.
For a lens profile to be created the lens has to communicate the subject distance, focal-length, aperture and zoom level to the camera and the camera has to record these in the EXIF data so that Adobe products can read it these parameters and look up the matching correction.
I don’t have this lens, but I am reading that it is a manual lens which can mean that there is no communication of lens settings back to the camera.  Is this true, at least for some of the settings?  If so, then Adobe cannot match a lens profile with the lens settings and a lens profile would be useless.
If you always shoot your macros with a few combinations of your settings there’s a possibility you could make your own lens profiles and match them up, yourself, based on notes you take at each session.
The Adobe Lens Profile Creator, that is available as a download from Adobe, uses checkerboard patterns.  It would be necessary to create very small ones for this lens, if 5x really makes a grain of rice full-frame.
You can read more about it, here, and try to create your own:

I am using lightroom 5 at work and shot some images with a canon 5d2 body with tamron 24-70 2.8 vc and tamron 70-200 2.8 vc lense. According to the note below, both lens are supported since lightroom 4.1.  However I can not find the profile of these two lens on lightroom 5.  Does anyone how I can bring the profile back in?  Thanks.

The ProgramData folders are for Photoshop and are probably as old as the newest version of PS or DNG Converter you have.
The lens profiles for Lightroom 4 and 5 are under LR's Resources subfolder:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom x.x\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\
(x.x = whatever version of LR you have)
For my LR 4.4  I have the following 16 subfolders under LensProfiles\1.0:
    Apple
    Canon
    Fujifilm
    Hasselblad
    Leica
    Mamiya
    Nikon
    Pentax
    Phase One
    Samsung
    Schneider
    Sigma
    Sony
    Tamron
    Tokina
    Zeiss
LR 5.3 adds DJI and GoPro as manufacturers for a total of 18 subfolders.

  • Where are the lens profiles for newer Nikon DSLR products?

There is hardly anything for D800 and newer lenses like 24-120 f/4, 70-200 f/4, 28-300 f/3.5-5.6, etc. Also, I have Lens Profile Downloader 1.0 installed and it works, but I cannot update to 1.0.1. It refules to install:

24-120 f/4, 70-200 f/4, 28-300 f/3.5-5.6, etc. Also, I have Lens Profile Downloader 1.0 installed and it works, but I cannot update to 1.0.1. It refules to install:
There is a Adobe supplied profile in the standard install for the 28-300 (NIKON D3X (Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 ED VR) - RAW) and for the 24-120 (NIKON D3X (Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f4G ED VR) - RAW). Those profiles will work fine for those lenses used on any Nikon body, including crop bodies. The 70-200 f/4 is too new I guess but I am sure it will show up soon. I don't have one (yet) otherwise I would have put up one already as it is trivial to generate these lens profiles yourself.

  • GLPLADM Planning profile for new gl - default parameters

i have copied the existing SAPFAGL profile and the layouts belonging to them and created a new profile with the same layouts. i am trying to set default parameters in order to get file description for each of the planning layout. i am able to do in our sandbox but not in the development client. the difference between two clients are sandbox is an upgraded version to 6.0 and the development client is a new box loaded with ECC 6.0. kindly help me on this.i would need to have the file description in order to do a excel planning upload. my excel planning upload works fine for the cost center profile and the layouts. i am having issue with the new g/l planning where the planning is done at the profit center and g/l Account

no errors no issues.. usually when we click on the default parameters it takes us to the screen showing the layout and then we key in data and the excel sheet gets loaded . we key in data or we can save the file description , it is automatically generated and the file description generated by the system gets populated in the file description field of the planning layout in the planning profile. in my case, when i click the default parameters, it doesnt go any further, and no warning or erro messages are issued. the same default parameters take me to the layout screen when i click the default parameters from the Cost center planning profile. i am not able to resolve this, asked many people but of no use. hope you understand my issue.

  • Selected color profile for new images from "clipboard" is wrong in CS6

I have given up trying to find the answer to this myself.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Take a screenshot of something in your web browser (macintosh CMD+SHIFT+4) to the clipboard.
    2. Select File > New from the menu. Clipboard should be the selected Preset.
    3. Notice how in CS6 the color profile under "Advanced" is "Display" and NOT "sRGB" — in CS5 it is sRGB.
    4. Paste from the clipboard into your new document and get the color profile mis-match warning if you are in CS6.
It is either not picking the color space of the clipboard properly like it will in CS5, or I am missing something somewhere.
Nothing I do in an attempt to fix this is working. I have sRGB set as my default profile in color settings, and nothing I do changes this setting for the "Clipboard" preset.
I am getting sick of forgetting to manually select "sRGB" every time, opening up a new document sized to my clipboard and then getting the color profle mismatch warning when I paste in the clipboard contents!
I take so many screenshots as I develop websites this is a CONSTANT problem as I am constantly creating new documents from the clipboard to check alignments, zoom in to get color samples, and many other reasons.

That helps a little. It explains why "Display" is selected when I create a new from the clipboard in PS.
The ColorSync profile from a screenshot opened in the Preview App shows up as "Color LCD" in the inspector.
So, I assume what is happening in PS is that the new document is being created in the working color space and my clipboard contents don't match that and therefore causes the warning?
I could see getting a warning if I create a new document from the clipboard in PS and it embeds the "Display" profile within it, and then I try and paste something which has an sRGB (or other) embedded profile, but I was assuming the new document from the clipboard contents would have the same color profile as the clipboard contents.
I just don't get why I get a warning when I create the new document and the very first thing I try and do is paste the clipboard contents into said document.
However, when I select "sRGB" from the dropdown list instead of "Display" in the PS dialogue box it does not give me the mismatch warning.
Although the warning does say my source and destination document are both using the "Display" profile but my working space is sRGB.
The more I think about it, I may have just checked the "Don't show again" box in CS5 if I ever had the same issues and therefore never dealt with that again!
I am going to go read as much as I can about the color profiles in PS. I used to deal with this a lot as a print designer but not so much anymore working in UI design. I only really look into these issues when I get weird color shifts on saved files and things of that nature.
Thanks for taking the time to explain some things!

  • Calibration chart for creating profile for Macro lens

I would like an LCP for my Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] Macro lens.  While I am willing to do the work to try to create this myself, I have a problem with the appropriate Calibration Chart to use for the Macro end of the zoom.  At 300mm zoom, the camera images ~ 12x7cm, so none of the standard charts will fit within the frame, let alone being able to get one to fill roughly 1/2 the picture; even at only 28mm zoom one still images only ~52x25cm.
What is the best thing to do – print a chart of a reduced magnification or what?
Advice will be most welcome    .
    Jo

      Very helpful, thanks MadManChan2000.
Just one supplementary question.  I presume that I will need to set the Profile Creator with a reduced checker size, scaled in points by the reduction in printing scale?

  • Lens Correction profile for Canon 18-200mm IS

    Hi,
I'm looking for a profile for Canon lens EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS - I can't find it in Lightroom and at the moment I'm using a profile for similar lenses from Sigma and at first glance it looks ok, but I have to manually find that lens at each photo, which is quite annoying.
I'm sure there's lots of people using same lens (as it comes included in Canon 50D PRO package which from what I hear is very popular), so maybe someone actually took an effort to create the profile using Adobe's lens profile creator?
If anyone has got that profile handy, I would very much appreciate if you could send me a link to where I can download it from or simply contact me.
    Thanks cheaps!
    Tom

You can choose "Save New Lens Profile Defaults" from the Setup popup menu, which will remember your choice of profile for the given {camera, lens} combo. That way you won't have to keep selecting the profile manually in the future.
Or you can create a preset.

  • Lens profile for Sony E 35mm 1.8

When will the profile for this lens be added to LR? The 35mm F1.8 has been out for a while and it is one of the best and most popular E mount lenses for the NEX cameras. I was hoping to see it in LR5, but unfortunately it's not. I was surprised to see the profiles for the new Carl Zeiss 32mm and 12mm 'Touit' lenses that just came out last month. What does it take for a lens profile to be added? Is there a particular page where we can submit requests or is it just whenever Adobe feels like?
    Thanks.

  • Lens profile for Canon 28/1.8 - already installed in LR4?

Hmm, the explanation of lens profiles and how to add them is a little confusing.
When I look here in Adobe's own list of supported lenses, my new "Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM" is listed there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html
Does that mean that profile should already be installed in LR 4? (I am running 4.4)
The profile is not showing up in Lightroom for me. (I am shooting JPEG.)
I downloaded the lens profile downloader, and found a profile for this lens, but is that the official Adobe profile for the lens? I installed it but it still doesn't work for me because it is for RAW only.
    Sorry for the newbie question.
    thanks in advance,
    Paul D.

JPG lens profiles are distinct from RAW lens profiles because cameras can fix things with the camera-produced JPGs that the lens profiles also fix and you can get double-corrections by using a raw lens profile with a jpg, but it depends on the capabilities and settings of the particular camera.
If you are sure your camera isn’t correcting geometric and vignetting issues with your JPGs, then you can hack the lens profile you downloaded to use it with JPGs, by editing the .lcp file with a text editor and change the flag indicating it is for raw files from True to False.  I forget what this flag is called, exactly, but it is obvious and near the top of the files.
On Windows, the lens profiles are downloaded to:
    C:\Users\--username--\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\
AppData is a hidden or system folder so you’ll need to unhide such folders in the folder options in Explorer or just type in the path an hit Enter in the address area of Explorer.
