Profile for Sony 16-50/f2.8 SSM?

Has anyone made a profile for this lens on the a77/a65?  I tried the lens profile downloaded and can't see that anyone has made one yet.
As it is the kit lens for the a77, perhaps the good people at adobe could create an "official" profile which would likely be much better than anything I could cook up on my own...
Cheers

  • Lenscorrection profiles for Sony Alpha lenses

Are there coming correction profiles for Sony Alpha lenses, like the SAL1650. Why are there only profiles fot E mount?

Limited Resources and Lack of Manufacturers Data are often cited as the two most common reasons.
    1. You need time to do it.
    2. You need a lens or better-the data from the lens manufacturer or both.
And, as always, you can create your own profile and share it with others via the Lens Profile Creation tool and Downloader.

  • Profile for Sony DSC-P200 and Samsung NV24HD created

    Hi,
just started plying around with LPC and create a profile for my old pictures from the Sony DSC-P200 and Samsung NV24HD.
I have uploaded/emailed them to Adobe, so they should show up in the near future.

    Hi simonsaith,
Is it the Samsung NV24HD (Samsung 4.3-15.5 mm  F2.8-5.9) profile that you added?
    Yes, that's it.
In the camera make drop down, if you type in "samsun" (which will trigger ALPD to do a wildcard search that matches any make that contains "samsun", your profile will actually show up. This is because the camera embedded "SAMSUNG TECHWIN" as the camera make for the EXIF.
Thanks for telling me. I would not have expected that I can do a wildcard search in a dropdown field there. I suggest making this more obvious in a next software version. I bet very few users are aware of it.
The naming things has some more traps. The built in lens' maker is actually called "Schneider-Kreuznach", but LPC seems to have issues with double names and creates a "Schneider". That's why I renamed it to "Samsung" to keep it in an existing group. I hope future software versions can cope a little better with this.
This seems similar to the behaviour when I put in "Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar ..." into the Sony DSC-P200 lenstype.
That special camera actually is also even more difficult for LPC when it comes to the model type. I did shorten it in the profile. The model is given as "NV24HD, VLUU NV24HD, LANDIAO NV106HD" which is a little clumsy when used as profile name.

  • Current Lightroom / Camera Raw Camera Profile for Sony ILCE-6000 inaccurate: green cast in shadows! Capture one better! Please fix it!

    Hi folks from Adobe!
Please take note that the current Lightroom / Adobe Camera Raw Camera Profile for the Sony ILCE-6000 is very inaccurate: There is a serious green cast in the shadows!
Capture One Express for Sony (which is free by the way) renders a lot more correctly!
Please correct this, since I'd rather buy the coming LR6 because of keeping my established workflow instead of going the Capture One route.
A good example can be found in the dpreview forum "LR5 A6K shadow pulling, a mess! Adobe LR is broken? "
Or search for Philp Reeves 3 weeks with the Sony A6000 review "3 Wochen mit der a6000", where he compares it to the Sony A7, using both times Lightroom to push the shadows.
The Sony A7 is fine where earth looks like brown earth, the A6000 picture looks like grass instead.
Please fix this! This is a high volume camera frequently bought by enthusiast or as second body for FF photographers. That would be really great!

I am talking about the two raw files linked in the very last post of page 6 of the Reeves comparison thread, not JPGs or screenshots of unknown manipulation.  In LR they both say f/11 and ISO 100 and have a similar tone, but one is shot at twice the shutter speed as the other.  This side-by-side is using Adobe Factory Defaults for each image where the profile is Adobe Standard, the toning sliders are all 0, tone-curve linear, and the Sharpening and Color NR are 25:
However, when I look at the camera-embedded JPGs, side-by-side, the 1/80th image on the left is darker than the 1/40th image on the right, as expected given the reported shutter-speed difference:
And it is indeed the darker image that has more shadow problems, also as expected.
When I do manipulate the darker (a6000) raw file in LR, I do see that the shadows are greenish when brightened unlike most other cameras which usually show magenta, which is the combination of the blue and red sensors showing more noise because there are half-as-many photosites as compared to the green, so I am seeing what people are complaining about and would expect shadow noise to be purple not green, I'm more concerned that these two example raws aren't actually comparable due to apparent differences in exposure.  It is also odd that the lens listed in LR is different than the lens listed in the filename, so either someone has mistakenly or deliberately renamed the file wrong or someone or something has changed the EXIF parameters that LR is reporting to be the same when they're really not.

  • Lens profile for Sony A900 carl zeiss vario sonnar 24 - 70 zoom?

Is there a lens profile for the Sony A900 Carl Zeiss vario sonnar 24 - 70 zoom lens in Photoshop CS5 camera RAW? I have the latest update, the Sony is an old camera now and the CZ zoom is similarly old, beautiful thing to use but doesnt seem to be supported in camera RAW profiles or lens correction filter in CS5. I'm about to use RAW to process around 10 sets of 5 exposures to create files for HDR and want to syncronise the correction to each group of images before I begin to process them, after HDR process I intend to create a pano out of them so its imporrtant to get the lens correction done right at the start and applied identically to each image. Thing is that if I look in the Sony profile theres only a few lenses but no Carl Zeiss, if I look in Carl Zeiss it doesnt list the Sonnar 24 - 70.
    Any solutions?

It appears  a lens profile is available for this lens using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. The profile does not have to be created with your camera model, just a model with the same crop factor or smaller camera sensor. This one is for a 1.5 crop factor APS-C sensor size.
The 24-70mm is available as well for a 1.0 Crop camera, which will also work with a 1.5 crop body.

  • Camera profiles for Sony A700

    Hi,
I'm working in CS4 (Mac) and I downloaded the latest camera raw 5.6. I have only the Adobe standard, ACR 4.4 and ACR 3.5 in the Camera Calibration -Camera Profile.
I don't see special camera profiles for my Sony A700. In tutorials they showed profiles for Canon or Nikon. How can I get the profiles for the A700? Do they exist?
    Thanks a lot
    Claudine

    Hi Claudine,
At the moment these are the only profiles made by Adobe for the A700. You can build your own profiles (or edit existing profiles) using the free DNG Profile Editor, if you wish. Another solution for a custom profile is the ColorChecker Passport, from X-Rite.

  • Lens Profiles for Sony Alpha DSLR's? Share Yours!

Hey everyone out there, I wanted to make a thread were we could share lens profiles for the Sony Alpha DSLR system. I currently use the A-700 and the A-900 for all of my "Pro" work. I welcome this new tool with open arms as distortion is sometimes a huge issue when using some wide angle lenses.
I personally use the following lenses on a daily basis and will be making profiles for these lenses sometime today!
    Tamron 70-200mm f2.8
Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 (lots of distortion on the wide end)
    Sony 50mm f1.4
    Sony 70-300G
    Sigma 50mm f2.8 Macro
    Minolta 28mm f2.8
So lets see if we can get the most popular lenses for the Alpha mount profiled and ready to go to share with everyone and help make the Sony shooting experience a whole lot better!

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Yes, I actually believe the difference is minimal. The optical distortions & vignette would be the same. Obviously when creating the profile, it would help to use the higher-res camera, as it would allow better recognition of a finer grid chart, but the light would fall on the sensor in the same way for both cameras.
I'm not looking to argue with anyone. I know things tend to get heated sometimes here and I don't have any desire for that.
Let's say we have different opinions.
Nothing wrong with that so long we behave in in civil way.
The size of the microlenses on top of the photo cells also differ from earlier CMOS sensors.
    That can influence the CA.
Color fringes, particularly noticeable at the edges of high-contrast photos, are is principally caused by lateral chromatic aberrations, where the lens — like a prism — splits the visible light into its different color components. DxO Optics Pro analyzes each image and automatically detects and corrects these fringes or irisations, thanks to its precise characterization of the fault based on the specific lens-camera combination that you use.

  • Lens profile for Sony E 35mm 1.8

When will the profile for this lens be added to LR? The 35mm F1.8 has been out for a while and it is one of the best and most popular E mount lenses for the NEX cameras. I was hoping to see it in LR5, but unfortunately it's not. I was surprised to see the profiles for the new Carl Zeiss 32mm and 12mm 'Touit' lenses that just came out last month. What does it take for a lens profile to be added? Is there a particular page where we can submit requests or is it just whenever Adobe feels like?
    Thanks.

Did you try the lens profile downloader? http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5492

  • Lens profile for Sony NEX E 16mm f/2.8

I have made a profile at 1.15m focus distance (necessary with A2 chart printing) which has now been checked out by a fair number of users and seems to be successful over a wider range of distances. Created using f/2.8 and f/8 aperture sets.

Now all I have to do is find out where to send it to Adobe (a hidden bit of info so far!).

I have been asked to make a JPEG profile - here it is:

Works well on HDR tested image, also now submitted to Adobe. Uses same test shot set, JPEG versions.

  • Lightroom color profile for Sony NEX 5N?

Hi all. I'm trying out LR4 at the moment, and I noticed that the only available color profile (Adobe Standard) is way off for my NEX 5N. Colors look really flat and greenish compared to in-camera jpgs and RAWs edited with iPhoto or Aperture. I found this profile http://www.piraccini.net/...2011/11/sony-nex-5n-new-standard-adobe-color.html, which is a lot better but still not really what I would like to see.
So the question for any NEX 5N users is, what color profile are you using in Lightroom? Thanks.

Digging up an old thread here, but I'm having a similar issue. I too only see "Adobe Standard" along with other "Camera Landscape, Portrait, Standard, Vivid". If I browse to the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\ There was previously no folder or files related to my Sony NEX 5N within any of the subfolders, except for the "Sony NEX-5N Adobe Standard.dcp" file. I've since found what I assume are supporting .dcp files for my Sony camera under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3\Resources\CameraProfiles\Camera\Sony NEX-5N and tried to copy that folder, which includes 4 profiles, and paste it within the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\ directory.
Here is what's happening: No new profiles show up. I'm at a loss about how to install new profiles if I needed to. I've even tried downloading the OP's recomended profile from the piraccini.net site, but I'm at a loss with how to install those. No matter where I paste the different profiles (folder that contains .dcp files) they just don't show up within Lightroom 4.3. I'm at the end of my rope here, as I've tried everything that I know.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Sony 50mm f1.4 ZA SSM Lens Profile in 8.4 RC  any way I can download file and load into Lightroom ?

Sony 50mm f1.4 ZA SSM Lens Profile in 8.4 RC  any way I can download file and load into Lightroom ?

    Short answer. No.

  • Camera Raw 8.4 does not show  profiles for my Sony A850.

Camera Raw 8.4 does not show the profiles for my Sony A850. The camera profiles are in the directory, Camera Raw recognizes the photo as being from my A850 in the Camera Raw banner, but the only profile available is Adobe Standard. This all used to work OK a few months ago.

I don’t see any of these on either my Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer in that normal ACR profiles location.  Both have PS-CC/ACR8.4 so maybe they used to be there and were removed?
However, if they are valid profiles you can probably get them to work by putting them in the user-customer-profiles folder:
    %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
    %APPDATA% = C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming
I have over a dozen custom-created profiles in this folder and both Photoshop and Lightroom see them all.
A few years back it wasn't this way, but more recently Adobe recognizes which profiles are theirs and will ignore any others in the Adobe profile area, but it expects to see others in the user-custom-profile area, so move the .dcp files over there.
Did your A850 profiles come from a third party like these:

  • Need lens profile rokinon 14mm for sony nex7

Please does anyone know if there is a Lightroom 5 lens profile for Rokinon(aka Bower/Samyang)  14 mm for sony nex 7??
    Thanks

The Adobe Lens Profile implementation is not camera model specific.  Cameras with the same sensor size should theoretically be able to use the same lens profiles regardless of the camera make or model. Adobe also provides the capability of using lens profiles from larger sensor size (full-frame) cameras with images shot using smaller sensor (APS-C) camera models (i.e. Crop Factor). As best I can tell the Adobe and User created lens profiles are agnostic, except for image file type. Different lens profiles are required for raw and JPEG images. As long as the lens profile crop factor is the same or smaller than the target camera it should work just fine. The Sony Nex7 has a 1.5 Crop Factor sensor size, so any lens profile with a 1.5 to 1 crop factor should work. Lens profiles with the nearly same sensor size 1.6 crop factor should also work.
The Adobe Lens Profile Downloader lists numerous lens profiles for this lens under 'Camera Make' Nikon for both raw and JPEG. You could also use any of the lens profiles that appear under 'Camera Make' Canon.
    1) Download and install the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader for Windows or Mac.
    2) Launch the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, select a suitable lens profile, and download it. Add as many as you like!
    3) Close and reopen LR, select an image shot with the 14mm lens, go to Develop> Lens Corrections panel, and select 'Make' same as you downloaded (i.e. Nikon), and under 'Model' scroll down to the bottom of the list and you should see the downloaded profile(s). Test it with the 14mm images.
    4) If satisfied select in the Lens Profile panel Setup> 'Save New Lens Profile Default.'
These profiles are created and submitted by users with varying degrees of technical-expertise. The lens profiles have a 'Rating,' based on some metric. Please keep in mind that 100% distortion and vignetting correction can actually make the image look worse, especially with a wide-angle lens. Most wide angle lenses have barrel type distortion and when corrected with the LR Lens Profile tool you will see corner "stretching," which creates cropping and volume anamorphosis. Images also tend to look more natural when there is a slight amount of vignetting left in the image. I typically use 0% Distortion and 50% Vignetting and only adjust them higher in images where it is visible. YMMV.....
