Profile manager wireless issue

Hi all,
Having a problem with profile manager on Mountain Lion, I am unable to connect to the user portal area via my wireless network.
But it works perfectly fine from another computer on the lan or a different vlan.
Does anybody have any ideas????

What is profile manager?

Any one have any ideas on how to fix this.
    TIA
P.S. This install was an upgrade from 10.6.8. Other than the stats/alerts indicators not working this is the only issue I have ATM.

The image isn't loading for me. Could you please repost it or type what it says? I'm having issues with Profile Manager as well.

  • Profile manager redirect issue

I'm setting up a new Mac Mini Server with OS 10.7.3. I've run through the Profile Manager configuration and it appears to be running. When I go to https://server.domain/mydevices I get the login screen, but when I try to login I receive the following  redirect error.
The webpage at https://server.domain/auth?redirect=https://server.domain/devicemanagement/api/a uthentication/device_callback has resulted in too many redirects.
    Any suggestions?

Well, I meanwhile managed to get most services up and running, all in all quite a time consuming process though.
Did you set up your server with a public dynamic DNS hostname such as name.dyndns, org or as a private server ?
If I remember well I set up the server as a public server (which makes sense if you want to use Profile and Device Manager) and I re-created the Open Direcory database and the server SSL's as described in one of my recent posts:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20816605#20816605
If you follow these steps religiously you should be able to get all services up and running.
Of course, DNS should also be working properly.
I did not mention in that post that if applicable all server databases should be be backed-up (dumped) as described for example in an article by Jason Bosket (Sep 2011 on Sourcenetworks, sorry, I could not find the URL anymore).
Hope that helps to give you an idea.

  • New App Purchases never show in Profile Manager

I have been using VPP Managed Distrubuition and Profile Manager without issue since December then out of the blue new any app purchases never appear in Profile Manager under the App tab. Includes both paid and free apps and they are in the Purchase History of my Program Facilitator account. Nothing has changed at the server setup that I'm aware of and I'm not really sure where to go now as emailing VPP support resulted in a reply that they can't offer advice on Profile Manager and I need to speak to Enterprise support. I think my VPP token is broken.
I have turned Profile Manager off and back on, removed the token and redownloaded and applied it again and performed another purchase and still nothing is showing that has been purchased since Febuary. Have also turned the Push Notifications off and back on. The 80 odd apps purchased before Feb continue to work as expected and I can assign them to users, remove users from the program and retrieve the licence etc.
As a last ditch I updated the OS to 10.9.2 along with the corisponding Server App version yesterday but this has had no effect.
Greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Can do however won't that clear all my App assignments in Profilemanager and Managed Profile Settings? The MDM functions of Porfile Manager are working fine. Just can't see new App purchases.
I tested again yesterday and purchased 5 new distrubuited licences of Edmodo and Micosoft Word. Neither display to assign to users.
Have 73 existing purchases made before March showing still and I can assigned them to users who have enrolled. I can also continue to enroll new users.

  • VPP Distribution issues with OSX Server Profile Manager

Hi, I have a new issue with my OSX 10.9.5 Server. I use VPP to distribute apps to users devices, when I would add a new user I would send them an invitation message through /profilemanager . All was working well until recenetly , the message still arrives in the users mailbox however when you click the "sign in" link on the "receive apps and books from xxxxx" email instead of opening through the Mac App store app it now opens Safari and connects to the profile manager server , any ideas ? it never has done this before and although I thought it was a new feature or method I can not seem to resolve the issue.

Hi if when you are redirected back to your Mac Server you enter the user name and password of the user you are trying to receive VPP apps for i.e the Open Directory credentials it will then open the App Store providing the credentials are correctly entered so it looks like an additional layer of security. The process is click on the link in the VPP invite email, this takes you to your Mac Server profile manager, log on with your OD account, App store then opens on your Mac like it used to.

  • Having issues with profile manager on 10.9 loosing users/device assignments.

I'm having issues with profile manager on 10.9 loosing users/device assignments. Luckly I only have arround 70 devices added so far. The first time it happened I thought it was just a freak thing, but it has just happened again. What I find weird is nothing on the server was changed, no devices added. So when this happens my users phones lose access to email, because I'm using variables, which rely on the user being assigned to the device. Anyone know how to fix this, and if not. Does anyone know how to backup and restore just profile manager in 10.9. Thanks.

I enabled all users in my AD "Domain Users" group access to "Profile Manager". I had also initially enabled "Profile Manager" access for a few individual users. Those users did not loss the device assignments. I'm not absolutely sure why/if allowing access for a group is causing this issue. Enabling access for each person would be very time consuming.... Maybe adding access to the individual users is importing that user into OD?

  • Disable Wireless in Profile manager

Is there a way to disable the wireless adaptor in Profile Manager?

    Hi
That may be a way of doing it although I would have disabled wireless when setting up a deployable image.
What you could try is log into Profile Manager. Select a Device Group you've created and have populated with desired devices or computers. Or simply select an enrolled device/computer. Under the OSX Section select Custom Settings. Click Configure and click Add Item.
For the key, type in - DisableAirPort
    For the type, select Boolean
For the Value, tick the box
    Test with the client machine.
It's been a while since I did this and unfortunately I have no way of testing it at the moment so it might not work?

  • Update 3.1.1 external calendar issues (and profile manager)

So I did the 3.1.1 update and now I am of course regretting it. I am having the non functional profile manager issue but, more importantly my calendar server is not communicating to any of the devices outside the network. I have a firewall in place so the question is did apple add a port to this update? I ran wireshark and couldn't find anything new.
    Help!

    How long between syncing?
This link provides the data included with the backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If you received or placed a call, the same for SMS/MMS, used Safari, made any changes to contact info and calendar events, there were changes to the data included with your iPhone's backup. If there were no changes to any of the data included with your iPhone's backup since the last sync, your iPhone's backup wouldn't be updated.
Does your iPhone's Camera Roll include a number of photos that haven't been imported by your computer followed by being deleted from the Camera Roll, or have been imported but not removed from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete?
    2. The other symptom I've noticed (that commenced with the prior OS version) is that the phone is hesitating sometimes and won't respond for up to a minute to screen inputs-- seems to be preoccupied with some task it wasn't doing before.
Any change after powering your iPhone off and on and/or after doing an iPhone reset when this occurs?

  • Server 2.2 and AD Profile Manager issues

The Server 2.2 update lets you use AD users inside of AD groups (YAY!)  My problm is after the update the web interface in Profile Manager will not list groups or users anymore, it slows down to a crawl and errors out.  I also can't add "network users" to local groups in OD anymore.  Is this a permissions error or is it just overloading my new mac mini server?
We and a few hundred users and in logs I can see the users importing from AD and it is peaking out the CPU resources on the mini.
    any ideas?

  • HT1822 [Add Certificate...] hangs in Profile Manager 2 (Mountain Lion)

I just installed Mac OS X Server on Mountain Lion for the sole purpose of configuring a new network profile for my workplace. After configuring my system to enable Profile Manager, I launched the Profile Manager web interface, logged in, went to Device Groups, and created a new profile.
    Settings are to include:
General (required): includes general info about the profile itself
Network: configure profile for both wired and wireless 802.1x authentication
Certificates: include two certificates to trust for authentication to the network.
I was able to easily configure General and Network. However, whenever/however I attempt to upload the required certificates, the browser window displays "Uploading <name of certificate file.cer>...", with the spinning indicator and does nothing else, regardless of how long I leave it alone.
Thoughts appreciated. Considered firewall, DNS, etc issues but haven't found anything that may be getting in the way.
    Thanks.

    I'm having this same issue.
I can install the Trust Profile
but when I go to Enroll Device, I get:
    profile installation failed
could not download the identity profile from the encrypted profile service. The credentials within the device enrollment profile may have expired.
    what I've done:
backed up my Device Manager database
    wiped the database
    re-setup Device Manager
    replaced the database
tried to Enroll Device and failed (same error)
    wiped the database
    re-setup the Device Manager
tried to Enroll Device and failed (same error)
I've tried recreating my ssl certs
Ive tried running it without code signing certs
I refuse to wipe my entire Open Directory
is there any to get this working or am I going to need to go third party to manage my Mac-only shop?

  • Unable to push user profiles to AD groups with Profile Manager since upgrade to Server v3

Since upgrading our OS X Mac server from 10.8.5 to 10.9.1, and OS X Server app to v3 (now 3.0.2) I have been unable to push or modify user profiles to AD groups (or AD users) using Profile Manager. This was working fine on OS X 10.8.5. Pushing device profiles is still working OK after the upgrade.
From what I can see from the logs on the client side and server side, it seems related to a problem with the mdm authtoken.
In the client console I can see this entry:
    27/01/14 14:30:15.844 mdmclient[38557]: *** ERROR *** [Agent:636102071] Unable to proceed with connection to: https://ourserver.ourdomain/devicemanagement/api/device/mdm_connect (com.apple.mdmconfig.mdm) because don't have valid MDM AuthToken
On the server, in the php.log I can see the corresponding attempt to authenticate:

So I can see there is a failure to authenticate, but don't really know how to troubleshoot this further. Or maybe this is just a bug in the new server app?
I have tried to remove and re-enroll clients in Profile Manager but no joy there.
In the client's Keychain I can see an MDM user AuthToken linked to the correct user account.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

I just wanted to update my post, as this issue for me is resolved.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Server.app on our Mac server, since then I've been able to push profiles to AD Users and Groups. I guess that in my case the Server app got into a bit of a mess when it was upgraded to v3.
Now the next headache I have is that my AD Groups which are displayed in Profile Manager are not syncing any recent changes. I think I'm probably seeing the same issue as described in this post

  • Cry for help: a decent network profile manager

Am I the only one that finds the default arch linux network profile management a bit.. lacking? Maybe I just don't have it set up right, but it only works for my ethernet connection and connecting to non-encrypted wireless networks. Problem is, I run WPA2-AES networks at home and at work. I finally got wpa_supplicant properly set up (I'm on wireless right now), but I can't just select the network profile from the menu and be on my way.
Here is what I have to do to get connected right now:
    [root@cdl-magnesium chris]# wpa_supplicant -dw -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dmadwifi -iath0
    [root@cdl-magnesium chris]# dhcpcd ath0
and I'm connected, everything working great. That's fairly simple, right? I'm thinking my network profile has a lot more in it than necessary.
    # Network Profile
    DESCRIPTION="57 May"
    # Network Settings
    INTERFACE=ath0
    #HOSTNAME=myhost
    # Interface Settings (use IFOPTS="dhcp" for DHCP)
    IFOPTS="dhcp"
    #GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
    # DNS Settings (optional)
    #DOMAIN=localdomain
    #DNS1=192.168.0.1
    #DNS2=
    # Wireless Settings (optional)
    ESSID="Galactica"
    #KEY=
    #IWOPTS="mode managed essid $ESSID channel 6 key restricted $KEY"
WIFI_INTERFACE=wifi0 # use this if you have a special wireless interface
    # that is linked to the real $INTERFACE
WIFI_WAIT=5 # seconds to wait for the wireless card to
    # associate before bringing the interface up
    USEWPA="yes" # start wpa_supplicant with the profile
WPAOPTS="-D madwifi" # use "" for normal operation or specify additional
    # options (eg, "-D ipw")
    # see /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf for configuration
    #AUTOWPA="yes" # automatically configure WPA
If I do a /etc/rc.d/network restart and select the profile from the menu, I get all sorts of errors about not being able to connect to wpa_supplicant (because for some reason it isn't running.. was I supposed to do something about that?).
I'm a bit tired right now so pardon any incomprehensible sentences or questions
ps: while we're on the subject, is there a way to re-sort the items in the network profile list? It always wants to connect to this broken wpa2 profile first, as I think it just goes in alphabetic order or somethin. I guess I should just turn off the timeout so it always waits for me to choose.

    i'm working on one.

  • Why is the Profile Manager web portal inaccessible after update to 3.2.1 ?

We run the Profile Manager in OS X as an MDM. We also use the Device Enrollment Program.
After updating to 3.2.1, the web portal for Profile Manager became inaccessible, and DEP checkbox in Profile Manager became unchecked.
I've attempted to re-enroll in the DEP, but it always rejects the Token I give.
I don't know if the two problems are related or not.
    Does anyone have a solution?
This is the log from the Profile Manager Service Log when I attempt to log in to the Profile Manager portal.

There are several of us having issues.  A couple of threads so far:
    Server 3.2.1 update fail
After Server 3.2.1 Upgrade profile manager stopped working
You can read my reply in the first one, but you should add your voice and call Apple Support about this.  They need to understand this is an issue and will probably capture some data so that they are able to (hopefully) release or post a fix.

  • Firefox crashes at startup (no safe mode or profile manager; mal-ware free)

Hello, I've been a loyal FF proponent for years. I'm running Windows 7 HP x64 with all the latest updates. The STRANGEST thing happened this week. I uninstalled my installation of firefox. I'm using a profile I've perpetuated for 3-4 years. I wanted to start clean and have a fresh slate.
Well, now, whenever I try to install firefox (8, 9, or 10), after installation firefox will not start up. I click the icon, you can see it starting up, and then it disappears. No crash reporter, no crash reports in %appdata%. It won't start up in Safe Mode (-safe-mode, or -safemode, or -safe). None of this applies that I can tell: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Fi ... t&r=0&as=s http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_crashes I have tried all combinations of clean installing, rebooting, running from windows safe mode, scanning for viruses/malware (Windows MSE, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware), and deleting every bit of data left over in */appdata/ I can find for FireFox.
I CAN get Firefox to start up with the "-profile manager" tag at the end (not -p OR -profilemanager, note the space...I believe this forces it to run that profile, even though it doesn't exist), however, it does not load up the Profile Manager, and when I try to visit a site, it crashes, and as far as I can tell, no crash reports are created. It does not create a profile or anything on my hard-drive. In fact, it doesn't look like it's getting far enough to recreate any of the directories I deleted before clean installing.
It is interesting to note, FirefoxPortable runs just fine, I am even running my previous profile with a simple copy/paste of my old profile folder. It runs just fine, except I think it's marginally slower. I'm fairly adept at troubleshooting. I've scanned the web for hours looking for a solution that works. Perhaps I've some registry corruption, but I'm not THAT savvy or knowledgeable on where to look for corruption. If this is the case, CCleaner's reg-cleaner did not fix the problem.
ANY ideas are welcome. I love using FF and my gamut of extensions., I would hate to have to set sail for Chrome.
    Thanks!
P.S. I have a hunch this might be a Windows permissions issue...the problem with this hypothesis is that I'm running with UAC turned off completely. I've tried disabling firewalls & whatnot as well.

The attached crash report doesn't have any data in it, so it doesn't help the find a cause of the crashes.
If you have one that does have data in it if you check the link then please post the crash ID of such a crash.
    See:

Try a clean reinstall of Firefox and drag the current Firefox application to the trash.
You can also try to do some maintenance.
Try to repair the disk permissions:
