Profiler in SQL Developer not working

When I run the profiler in SQL developer , I get the following error.
"Directory exists; check if /tmp exists on file system, and oracle has permission to write there. "
This error sounds like an UNIX error but I am running SQL developer on Windows 7 (64) OS. Has anyone seen this or knows how to get around it.
Thanks so much..

Hi,
According to the SQL Developer 3.1.04.72 documentation, the "get" command (among others) is not supported:
Help|Table of Contents|SQL Developer Concepts and Usage|Using the SQL Worksheet|SQL*Plus Statement Supported and Not Supported...
so options are limited. If sqlplus is accessible and using it as an "external tool" won't conflict entirely with local policy, these links might interest you:

Easy Connect and sqldev.conn issues
Otherwise you may add a feature request for this on the SQL Developer and see if such an enhancement is a priority for the community.

Hi i successfully instaled my oracle 11g on windows 7,but when iam trying to use my sql developer chich i got by default with 11g is not working ..when i open it its asking me for "select the path of java.exe file" when i browse and given the right path .iits again giving me the same pop and not throughing any error msg at least.
Could u pls help me out on this??

Well, not supported does not necessarly mean does not work, but if you have problem, then your only way is to find a solution on your own or through other fellows who are doing the same.
Anyway, you could ask your question in the SQL Developer dedicated forum, but again, you could have some unexpected issues by working on non-supported config :

  • SQL Developer Not Working "no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path"

    Hi,
I have Oracle 10g with SQL Developer 3.0 on Windows XP, they worked well untill I just installed Oracle ODBC (ODAC101040.exe). I started to receive error message "no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path" and I am no longer able to use SQL Developer.
    Any solution?

Check on the envirnment variables on the windows. Once you installed the "Oracle ODBC" it might have replaced the Old env. variables that can found in XP "System Properties> advance tab> environment Variables". Make sure you have the right environment variables that point to right directory locations. Update us with your findings.

  • SQL Developer not working on Ubuntu 6.10

    Hi all,
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 6.10 and discovered that SQL Developer does not start. It fails with next message:
    sofist@null:~/opt/sqldeveloper$ sh sqldeveloper
    Oracle SQL Developer 1.0
Copyright (c) 2005 Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
    .: 17: ide.conf: not found
    sofist@null:~/opt/sqldeveloper$

I've read the ubuntu linux 6.10 does not use bash as the default shell anymore. Most linux distributions use bash as the default shell. Ubuntu 6.10 uses a shell called dash. Not sure why ubuntu would change it. So, I don't know if it has anything or not to do with the shell.

  • SQL Developer not working

I installed SQL developers dot rel. 3.2.20.09.87 in my windows XP machine today. The downloadable zip file is available at oracle website http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html.
    Version I downloaded is :
    Windows 32-bit - zip file includes the JDK1.6.0_35      Download Download 209 M
On clicking sqldeveloper.exe , the small Oracle SQL Developer window pops but it goes away in few seconds.
Any pointers to resolve this issue is highly appreciated !

    Hi,
To avoid losing the window before you can read what went wrong, run the sqldeveloper.exe version in directory
    <SQLDev_Install_Dir>\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exeinstead.
If you should need to do a more in-depth investigation, the following offers some good advice on debugging:

  • Help getting SQL Developer to work

I'm just trying to get SQL Developer to work so I can use student databases. I have no intent of being a networker, and I definetly have no intent of failing this class because I can't do my homework.
    Update.
Someone from my Java Class told me to restart the services related to Oracle. I attempted to do so, but got the following errors:

I believe the TNSListener service is the main problem (seeing as when I try to open the database I get an error saying "TNSListener service is not running.") So I looked that up, and it said to check sqlnet.log:

And now I'm stuck again. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh right. I did change the port in an attempt to get Scott to work.
Changed back to port 1521, but still no luck.
I think my problem has something to do with OracleDBConsoleorcl. I get Error Code 2 when I try to start that service up.
    Although...my SERVERNAME_SID is 192.168.15.101_orcl (Directory: C:\app\Davidi\product\11.1.0\db_1\192.168.15.101_orcl)
Which was the IP Address ipconfig set up the day that SQL Developer was actually working. Of course, that IP Address changes every time you restart windows. My teacher suggested that I set up a static IP Address or try setting it to local host, but I really don't know how to do either of those.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    tnx,I haven't a clue.
As you have been advised in many of your posts, go study the documentation for whichever specific topic you are interested in.
For me to answer your questions, I would need to go get that documentation.
Then I would need to read that documentation.
Then I would need to write a forum post that interprets what I think I learned from that documentation.
It is so very much faster if YOU go do that instead of posting to a forum and expecting others to do it. You will remember what you study for a lot longer time if you teach yourself.

  • Force encryption on SQL Server not working?

    Hello Everyone,
I'm running SQL Server 2008 64-bit. I've installed a self-signed cert on the box and set  "Force Encryption"  and restarted SQL server.
I setup a client machine to trust the authority of the cert installed on the server. When I connect to that SQL server from SSMS from a client machine and select the "encrypt connection" option in the client Connection properties, SSMS correctly complains
that the cert on the server does not match the computer name I asked to log into . This is because, although the cert is trusted, the dns name dos not match the CN in the cert <- Perfect, exactly what I am expecting.
When I connect to the same SQL server from the same client but  UNCHECK "encrypt connection" on the client, I'm able to login. Considering I've checked the "Force Encryption" on the server, the server should have rejected the connection. Why not?
    Ameer Deen

    Hi all,
We are implementing a Merge Synchronization solution which involves three SQL Servers located on three Azure locations worldwide and one on-premises location. We need to secure communications between all servers. We are evaluating the encryption of all server
    communications through SSL:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191192.aspx
When we configure one server (let’s call it server A) to accept only encrypted connections (with Force Encryption=Yes) we still can connect from other server (let’s call it server B) that do not have the certificate installed. We would expect the server
B to fail in the attempt of connect as server A should only accept encrypted communications and those should need the certificated to encrypt/decrypt everything (commands and data).
We have also review the following forum post that is very similar to this one:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/bde679d9-ff83-4fa7-b402-42e336a97106/force-encryption-on-sql-server-not-working
In all cases the Microsoft answer is:
    “When the
Force Encryption option for the Database Engine is set to YES, all communications between client and server is encrypted no matter whether the “Encrypt
connection” option (such as from SSMS) is checked or not. You can check it using the following DMV statement”
When we run the provided DMV statement to check if encryption is enabled:
-- To check whether connections are encrypted between server and clients
    SELECT encrypt_option
    FROM sys.dm_exec_connections
We get “TRUE”. So theoretically encryption is enabled.
    Then:
Why can we run SQL statements against server A from server B (with SSMS) without any certificate?
Are we wrong when we expect server A to refuse any client that do not have the right certificate?
How can server B, without any certificate, decrypt the data encrypted by server A?
Our intention is to encrypt all server in the same way so all of them will accept only encrypted communications. We are assuming that the Merge Agent will be able to communicate with the Publisher and the Subscriber through this encrypted environment. May
    anyone please confirm ti?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best Regards
    Benjamin Moles

  • SQL Code not working in Forms Developer?

    Hi all,
I'm using Oracle 10g and I have th following code running on iSQL+ but not working on Forms and I got the following erro
    The SQL code:
         select returningreason
            from (
                     select returningreason,
dense_rank() over (partition by 1 order by count(*) desc) as drnk
                     from returned_goods
                     group by returningreason)
where drnk = 1;And the error happens near the word over to the right and the error statement is:
    Error 103 at line 18, column 19
Encountered the symbol "(" when expecting one of the following:
             , formThanks in advance :)

Triggers are compiled in forms so need to use only the features available to forms, which doesn't include all the new stuff in the database.
    select over partition
NVL2They don't work in forms and reports too.
Also if you use them in record Group
Forms/SQL Compiler was not lined up to the database(10G).
Meanwhile, for example. Pipelined TABLE and relative Select work in Reports AND Forms.

  • Two user profiles in SQL Developer

    Hello,
is it possible to start 2 instances of SQL Developer on Windows with 2 different user profiles at the same time? I like to have one instance with a set of connections and one instance with another set of connections. Maybe it is also possible to color the connections with a different color (like TOAD) at this possibility I don't need 2 different profiles. I need for better overview which project I'm working on. Ok, I can name my connection with prefixes for example, but when many SQL windows are opened, the differences are not so clear.
I'm also happy for different solutions.
    Best regards
    Carsten

Mmm, yes, but you could mix up a batch file for using one file or the other.
And this is really just a Java parameter, so you should be able to just pass it as command line parameter to the executable, like:
    sqldeveloper -J-Dide.user.dir="%SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR%"Hope that helps,
    K.

  • SQL Developer not accepting certain characters from the keyboard

    Hello,
I have been using SQL Developer for 5 or 6 months now, with minor issues and great satisfaction.
A few days ago, just out of the blue, in the middle of the day, SQL developer started not accepting the following characters:
Ctrlv, Ctrl + c, F5, F9 (I Think all function keys), BackSpace, Delete, Enter and arrow keys.+*
T*his is only happening in the text editor part*. I am able to use this keys in the results, whether they were a script output or an execute query output.
SQL developer also functions properly (if i paste using the mouse, paste works.. and all the other keys)
I checked the pc for viruses, using AVG, no viruses were found (my avg is updated daily and runs daily virus checks on a schedule, and this issue has been here for the past 1 or 2 weeks, so it was a virus, i think it should have been discoverd, besides, the keys are still working in sql developer, only not in the text editor part)
Needless to say, but if i run notepad and type, keys work properly.
I also reinstalled it in another folder with no luck
Tried so many restarts .. no luck
Tried it in safe mode .. no luck
I am using SQL developer Version 1.5.4, Build MAIN-5940.. on Windows Xp
I am suspecting there's some option in it that I disabled without paying attention..
    HELP!!!
    Regards,
    Charles

All that time trying possible solutions is understandable, but then typing them in your post... when searching the forum would have given you the solution under 1 minute:
Preferences - Accelerators - Load Preset - Default
    Hope that helps,
