Profiles for Pentax K-5 lenses, JPG, added: DA 18-55, DA 50-200, Sigma 50, Sigma 8-16

Hi
I just created and uploaded the following four profiles for the Pentax K-5 camera and JPEG-pictures.
The corresponding RAW prifles seem to be there but on the JPEG side there are practically none.
PENTAX K-5 (Sigma 50mm F1,4 EX DG HSM)
PENTAX K-5 (Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM)
PENTAX K-5 (smc PENTAX-DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED WR)
PENTAX K-5 (smc PENTAX-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR)
If they are ok they should be available soon.

Now that I have my 60D its time to set my goal for better glass. I hear rave reviews of the 70-200 f2.8 IS II lens. "No photographer should be without one" etc... My 60D is a 1.6 crop sensor - what are the pluses vs the minuses going for this lens - or is there an alternative suggestion? (Especially since I'm not planing to upgrade to full frame any time soon.)
Advantages: It's an extremely sharp lens that gives good results even wide open. The f/2.8 aperture makes it a good choice for indoor event photography. And the fact that it's a top-of-the-line "L" lens means that it probably won't require autofocus microadjustment, an important feature that Canon unaccountably left off of the 60D.
Disadvantages: It's very expensive (which is why my employer, not I, owns the one I use). It's very big and heavy, so it can be tiring to use in a long shoot. This is less of a problem indoors, where you're usually not moving around much and can occasionally set it down. That said, I have used mine outdoors, notably climbing around on the rocks at Acadia National Park, and it wasn't all that bad. Finally, the 70-200 range isn't ideal for a crop-frame camera. In particular, it doesn't match well with the traditional 18-55mm walking-around lens. Frankly, that's what eventually persuaded me to buy a 5D3.
Alternatives: The obvious one is the highly regarded latest version of the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8, if you can find one. Sigma has a curious habit of discontinuing its most successful lenses long before their successors, if any, are ready for release, and the 50-150 is no exception. Unfortunately, Canon makes no lens with that zoom range, which matches very well with the crop-camera walkers. One drawback of the Sigma is that it's almost as big and heavy as the Canon 70-200; maybe if they ever do make a successor, they can shrink it a bit..

  • Profiles for Nikon manual focus lenses

I can't seem to find any profile for Nikon manual focus lenses.  Are those impossible to make with the profile creator?

Here are some of the ones:
    400/f3.5 Ais
    35/f2 Ais
    50/f1.4 Ais
    85/f1.4
    85/f2
    75-150/f3.5
    50-135/f3.5
I think the zooms would be difficult unless you record what focal length your pictures were taken at.

  • LR4 lens correction profiles for micro 4/3s lenses?

    Hi,
Recently bought into the m43s system because of the compact fast primes (Lumix G 20 1.7 and Olympus 24 1.8) and it looks like there are no "built-in" lens profiles for either in LR4 when I check "enable lens corrections".  I thought I read somewhere that the 20 1.7 requires correction as it has a significant amount of (barrel, iirc) distortion if not corrected, yet the RAW images look fine upon import -- is Lightroom doing something that does not require a profile?  Am I missing something else?
    Thanks!

they are build in. no need for lens profiles.
panasonic and olympus lenses for m43 provide lens correction data, raw files contain the parameters needed for raw conversion software, that´s part of the system design.

  • Profiles for manual (no-exif) lenses

    Hello,
I'd like to make a number of profiles for manual lenses. I know I can define various focal point sets (like 20cm, 1.5m, 10m). That's nice. But I'd also like to make profiles for a number of f-stops (2.0, 5.6, 11). Is it possible in one profile?

After some trials I have implemented a method
that's OK for me but that is not recommended
for casual users. Make copies before !
I Use ExifToolGUI (free tool) to insert
f-stop and focal length into the DNGs
    related to the charts.
LPC does his job and creates a single
    profile .
    Then for images to correct
either you use the CS5 Filter and right-click
    to select the assumed parameters
(images remain intact, doesn't work for ACR[no right click]),
or you have to insert assumed parameters
    into the input images
(images are modified, works in CS5 and ACR).
The Adobe method is fine too !

  • Adobe .dcp profiles for (Pentax) K-5 mk II & K-5 mk IIs

AA filter is not totally colorless, so why Adobe's (Pentax) K-5 mk II & K-5 mk IIs camera profiles have the same data in .dcp profiles ? if you check DxO measurements or Pentax own .dcp (embedded) profiles you see small differences...

I didn't find meaningful color differences between these models.

    Thank you for your analysis.
    In conclusion:
    - JPG images are corrected in camera
    - SRW images have built profile
    - the information in the list https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html
is little misleading because suggests there is a profile for Samsung 16-50 lenses
I tried to make a 3 profiles in a Adobe Lens Profile Creator 1.0.4 for 16mm, 26mm and 50mm (but it was very amateur work, so I don't guarantee the quality)
    Here is a result:
    before correction (16mm):
    after correction:

  • Lenscorrection profiles for Sony Alpha lenses

Are there coming correction profiles for Sony Alpha lenses, like the SAL1650. Why are there only profiles fot E mount?

Limited Resources and Lack of Manufacturers Data are often cited as the two most common reasons.
    1. You need time to do it.
    2. You need a lens or better-the data from the lens manufacturer or both.
And, as always, you can create your own profile and share it with others via the Lens Profile Creation tool and Downloader.

  • Lens profiles for Nikon lenses

    Hello,
Does anyone know a site where users have posted lens profiles that they have made for the Nikon lenses which are NOT included in the Photoshop CS 5 software?
I have a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 lens that needs correction when shooting at or near 17mm - and I hate to have to make my own profile if someone has already done it.  I have used the profile supplied by Adobe for my Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens - and it is spectacular!
Is there a master site where users have posted lens profiles for Nikon lenses?

    About Lens Profiles:
They are different for Raw and JPEG. Sometimes a profile is only available for Raw, sometimes for JPEG, sometimes for both, sometimes for neither. If it is available, it can be found by searching in the Profile tab of the Lens Corrections panel. If it doesn't show available when searching here, you can go to the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader and see if another user, like yourself, has created one. If not, you can download the Adobe Lens Profile Creator tool and make one yourself.  See the link below.

  • I cannot find a profile for Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR

Hi, I have tried to download a profile for my D3100 kit lens - Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR but cannot find it in the Adobe Lens Profile downloader.
Adobe says that it is supported (two years ago: see it at this link from October 2010    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2010/10  )
Since it is listed many places as being supported, it is frustrating that I cannot find it in the Adobe Lens Profile downloader.
Am I doing something wrong? Or can I download that profile without using the downloader.  Can I use the lens profile that is shown with a different camera.  I see similar lenses under D300 and D90 in the folder with about forty NIKON lens profiles (but only two for the D3100). However, under Lens Correction when I tick Nikon as model then I only see about seven lenses in the drop down list.  How can I see the full contents of the folder?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
PS.  I was going to ask where the profiles are stored but luckily I have found them after a search.

I too would like to see this lens profile added to the list in Lightroom, in addition to the Nikon DX AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR. I've found a similar version of the 18-55mm under the D40, but not for the D3200, and I haven't been able to find any profile matching the 55-300; only 55-200.
