Profiles in Elements

I Wish to get photos printed by a commercial printer who requires a Fuji profile to be attached to the images. Can you explain please how I can attach the profile to the images in Photoshop Elements. I have downloaded the profile onto my computer but the Elements 'Convert Profile' doesn't pick it up.

Make sure your color settings are correct or that you don’t have “No Color Management” selected. Go to Edit >> Color Settings
Choose “Always Optimize for Printing” and click OK
Then open an image and click File >> Print
Then click the More Options button and choose Color Management
Ensure the top dropdown is set to “Photoshop Elements Manages Color”
You can select your media type from the Printer Profile dropdown.
I find Rendering Intent is best set to Perceptual.
N.B. When Elements manages color in conjunction with your chosen profile it’s essential to turn off color management in the print driver.
P.S. You will have far more options in Lightroom 4 and the ability to save user presets. So try selecting thumbnails in the Lightroom Library and then move to the print module.

  • Printer Profile In Elements 8

How do I set a printer profile in Elements 8?

I have to change this for every print. I have a Canon Pro9000. When I set the printer profile for
my Ilford paper at the next print I find that the profile is reset to a Canon profile and I have to change it again.
Is there any way to make it stay on a given profile as all I use is Ilford paper.

  • How do you specify printer profiles in Elements 11?

I upgraded from Elements 7 where there was a "drop-down" box that listed all of the available printer profiles to choose from.  I don't see a drop-down box in Elements 11 to accomplish the same thing.  I use Color Munki to set up printer profiles and can't find them in Elements 11.

Both Epson and HP have been playing a game of Hide-and-Seek for the last year or two. Instead of putting the profiles they install into one of the common Profiles folders, they are in the /Library/Printers/ folder. For Epson, drill down to /Library/Printers/Epson/InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles. At least, this is where the installer for the Stylus Pro 4900 puts them.
It was much harder to find those installed for the Stylus Pro 4000. They are still in this general area, but were hidden inside one of the .plugin packages a bit deeper into the folder structure.
Either way, the Epson print drivers know where these profiles are and show up in the print dialogue boxes. Trouble is, other apps, such as Adobe, Quark, can't see them, so you can't choose any of the profiles from those program's print option boxes.
The only solution is to locate the profiles in the /Library/Printers/ folder and move all profiles to either the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder, or the Profiles folder in your user account. You want to move instead of copy so each profile isn't showing up twice in the Epson print dialogue box.

  • Colour profiles in Elements 10

I use a 3rd party print lab and have downloaded and installed their print profiles. I can save my images using Lightroom 4 with the appropriate profile, but don't know how to do it in Elements 10. Does Elements 10 even support this functionality?

  • Can you use a photo lab's colour profile in Elements?

Using PSE 6,  I want to use a printer profile from a digital photo processing lab, so as to get accurately printed images. (Additonally my monitor is calibrated by a Heuy Pro)
The profile is  'FUJI 570 Supreme Lustre' which I have downloaded from the lab and installed on my Windows Vista PC.  Following PSE Help instructions, if I go to the print option then from the drop down Printer Profile list, I can see, choose and select the Fuji 570 profile.
The problem is that this process only seems aimed at then allowing me to click on cancel or print (there is no save option etc).  PSE seems to assume that I am connected to the Fuji printer and want to print the image myself, which, of course, I don't but rather want to save this image with the correct profile for the lab's printer and paper-type, so as to send the file(s) for my colour managed image(s) to be printed.
Is there any way that you can save a PSE image file with a colour profile like this in it?
If yes, how is this done?
The lab provides instructions as to how to do this with Photoshop but they are unfamiliar with PSE.  In the lab's instructions it refers to View/Proof Set up/custom and unchecking Preserve Colour Numbers, Paper White and Ink Black. Is any of this possible/necessary with PSE 6 (or any later version?)
I have tried to resolve this myself but come to a dead end. If anyone can advise me how to achieve what I want to do, that would be really great or if it can't be done using PSE, to know that would be a great help.
(I have used this lab before without the profiles and whilst the results were good in several respects, some colours, not surprisingly,  were not very accuate with my calibrated monitor)
Thanks for reading and considering my posting on the forum.

Thanks for this further advice- much appreciated.
I don't think the Edit>>Colour Settings is going to work as this means that the monitor set up becomes the profile. In my case the Huey profile (which is confirmed as it shows in the print set up preference/settings boxes). Although the Huey profile is important for accurate editing, it will not fulfil the lab'sFuji printer/papers settings.
It looks like PSE does not have any way to save to file with the printer profile (unlike Photoshop). This is a real shame.
It's an interesting issue, as I can't believe that I am the only user ever wanting to use a lab's profile to get better colour management and to use a photographic lab rather than an attached printer.
Anyway, thanks again for engaging in this issue and for your thoughts and advice - much appreciated.
Should I find a way to resolve this, I will post it on the forum.

I'm not sure whether your question relates to the same problem as mine - if it is I would be interested to know if you have had any luck finding an answer. My problem is that I keep getting a message saying "could not print xxx because the ICC profile is no longer installed".
I've tried reinstalling the printer driver and other printer software to see if this helps but all to no avail, so I'm assuming the problem is associated with Elements 9, but I can't be sure - the message really does no help at all.
Surely someone working with Elements should be able to give us a clue about what might be wrong and how to address it?

  • Cost Element Error during Activity Confirmation

    Hi,
We are using assembly processing to create projects. After project is created, a requirement arises and we manually assign few internal activities in CJ20N. When we do like that, a cost element gets picked automatically in the cost element field of External TAB along with Purchase Org & purchase group though it is an internal activity. This doesnt happen in already created activities during automatic creation.
We don't need the system to bring these values for cost element, purchase org. & group. We are not using this cost element anywhere. In network profile cost element field is blank.
So whenever we confirm the activity it throws an error message. CK197, G/L account for company code / costelement does not exist.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi, Rahul,
Have your system is gone for any recent upgrade for EHP4 ?
This error is due to EHP4 please implement following said notes
    1285728, 1277967.
And after that remove the cost element from activities present in external tab which are created before not implementation which are giving error.
    revert after resolving the issue.

  • Less brighter image in photoshop elements 6. mac version

    Hay,
i start to adjust a photo in camera raw and fine-tune it in elements. When i use the organiser ( for mac is this bridge cs3) the picture is more bright then in Elements. Sometimes even over-exposed.
Is there someone who knows what the problem can be
    grts
    Michel

Go under Bridge in menu Edit->camera raw preferences and make sure you have not changed any settings which is why you seeing images like this. Also check in Edit->Preferences. There might be the case that you have different color profiles for elements and bridge setup.

  • Colour profiling

is it possible to use colour profiling on Elements 10?  if so, how.

    Hello R Kelly,
Thank you for your interest in my dilemma.
Apparently “soft proofing” is an option, I simply want to  edit-convert profile. I have been advised by my Photo printers that Elements does not support this facility and have suggested I try edit- export, but this is not highlighted under the edit column and hence is not supported either. I,m beginning to think that Elements 10 is the worst piece of software I,v ever purchased!.   Again thank you for your interest, any help would be most welcome.
Let's be clear : you have been miguided.
CMYK is used in commercial offset printing. In my professional life, I have dealt with photographers, publishing agencies and printers (not only offset). The point is that to get good offset prints in CMYK, you have to know in detail the profiles needed for the process (paper...) We considered the conversion was the responsability (and the art) of the printer. (Anyway, the conversion to CMYK from pictures made in RGB is often a lossy one).  I don't know of serious commercial printers who does not have the full Photoshop or similar.
For amateurs today, even for printing, RGB is becoming the required color space. Advanced home or professional printing process (photo books) is often made on hardware with 6 or more inks. If you provide CMYK, the pictures will be first converted back to RGB !

  • ICC Profiles and PSE3.0 - How to Needed?

I recently bought a monitor calibrator, and I am quite satisfied that what I see on the monitor is the way I should be seeing it. I've printed a few prints with my Canon Pixma 4000, and the prints are almost exactly the same as what I see on the monitor. So, as far as using my printer, I am pretty satisfied with the workflow/color management.
As a test, I sent a photo to Adorama, and I chose to use no ICC profile or color correction. I just picked up the print from them, and it is noticeably different from my other prints and the monitor. Basically, it appears to be darker, which of course renders the colors slightly different shades and the saturation different than what I started with. It is a nice print, but not true to my original.
So, I assume the missing ingredient was the ICC Profiles I could have downloaded from them; a different one for each of their paper choices. Please help me understand when I embed this profile in my workflow, and how it works. Can I do this at all in PSE 3.0?
Does it get embeded early in the process, in which case what I see on the screen is different than if I didn't use a profile; or, is it embeded in the end of the process, and only used as a set of instructions for their printer?
I think I'm oh so close to understanding this process.

    Steven,
Most photo labs are set up to process sRGB images, NOT Adobe RGB images. In
fact, most commercial printers either do not read embedded profiles or
    ignore them.
If you are going to send an image to a commercial printer without using the
labs custom icc profiles you should be working in sRGB and send them an
sRGB image. If you do want to use the labs custom icc profiles, you must
have software that can convert the image to the selected profile. Elements
    cannot do that.
I'm going to give you a link to Dry Creek Photo
    (http://www.drycreekphoto.com/icc/using_printer_profiles.htm) that has some
pointers for using custom profiles with commercial labs. Especially read
the info at the bottom under "Example color managed editing and printing
workflow". They also have pointers to some utilities that can do the
    conversion.
Dry Creek Photo creates custom profiles for commercial printers and, in
fact, lists Adorama in their profile database. Here's the entry:
a.. "Adorama Pro-Lab Inc.: 42 West 18th St., New York, NY 10011 Phone:
    888-216-6400
a.. Store info: Noritsu 34-Pro, Kodak papers.
b.. Royal Glossy paper profile, June 26, 2006
c.. Endura Lustre paper profile, June 26, 2006
d.. Royal Matte paper profile, June 26, 2006
e.. Mac OS 9 format version (both profiles) See usage note.
f.. Note: This printer uses our enhanced accuracy custom profiles.
g.. Note: Adorama has multiple printers. Specify that your profiled
prints run on the Noritsu 34-Pro.
h.. For more information, please contact Adorama Pro-Lab "
Using custom profiles or not using them and using just sRGB should only make
subtle differences. Gross changes would suggest that you have something
wrong in your settings and/or calibration. You have a calibration device,
which is good, but what are your Elements color settings? While you can
never get a perfect match between monitor and print, you should be able to
get a reasonable and consistant match. It's also possible that Adorama is
doing something that's affecting the print. If you are sending an sRGB
image that views ok on your system using something other than Elements and
it comes back from Adorama significantly different, it could be on their
    side.

  • How can I download Photoshop Elements 11

An error message appears, encountered an error while installing shared technologies. I have tried to download a dozen times. Please Help.

    Hi rxwings12
Error: Shared Technologies have failed to install
The installation of Photoshop Elements or Adobe Premiere Elements may fail with one of the following errors:
"The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements could be installed. Below mentioned application has failed to install: Shared Technologies."
"The Adobe Premiere Elements installation wizard was interrupted while installing Shared Technologies."
"The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies."
These errors indicate that one or more of the following Shared Technologies failed to install:
    Adobe Player for Embedding
    Adobe Help
    Camera Raw plug-in
    Camera Raw profiles
(Photoshop Elements 9 and later only) Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5
(Photoshop Elements 9 and later only) Adobe XMP Panels CS5
(Photoshop Elements 9 and later only) Microsoft Visual Studio runtimes
To resolve these issues, use the Adobe Support Advisor (ASA) to analyze the installation log file. For instructions, see Analyze install logs with Adobe Support Advisor (ASA).
Note: If you are using a downloaded installer, or running the installation from the hard drive, the Shared Technologies can fail because of the installation path. Copy the installation files to a folder to the root of the drive, such as C:\PSE<versionnumber>Installer\, and rerun the installation.
If the ASA tool is unable to provide you with a solution, see the "Analyze the Main Installation Log manually" section in Troubleshoot install using logs | Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements.

  • Customizing profile and copying to default

what is the best way to customize a profile and copy that to the default?
What I have been doing is
login as an admin, customize the desktop, settings, themes, etc... then log out
login as another admin user,  delete the Default user profile under c:\Users\Default
rename the Admin folder to Default
Go under the Default and remove the User.dat file
how else would you do it?

The only supported method for customizing the default user profile in Windows Vista and newer is to use the CopyProfile setting with Sysprep. This is the only way to ensure that all user-specific
information is properly removed from the profile and to ensure that new user accounts created from the default user profile are properly directed to their own, unique resources. Your error with new user profiles being directed to the Administrator profile’s
resources is a perfect example of this.
Once you have created a default user profile through this method and the profile has been cleaned of profile specific elements, that default user profile can be copied and moved to other locations
for use as a default user profile. For example, it can be used as a network default user profile, or a mandatory profile.
    The
link provided by arnavsharma provides the details for all of this.
