Profiling pcs

I use ISE only for profiling ( no posturing ) and it's L3 adjent with other devices (wlc).
for iphones and stuff I only need OUI=Apple and i'm good ( no need to go deeper), but I'm having problems identifiying Laptops, they show up as unknown, eventhough I use the DHCP option.
Is there any quick rule to identify them, DHCP or Radius or whatever?, or maybe a redirect to ISE http somehow but I don't want them to posture and all that(including NAC Agents), I just want to identify them and then assign appropriate access.

this is for iphones:
Total Certainty Factor                                 40
EndPointSource                                 RADIUS Probe
dhcp-client-identifier
01:ec:85:2f:be:56:dd
dhcp-message-type
DHCPREQUEST
dhcp-parameter-request-list
1, 3, 6, 15, 119, 252
FOR PCS
Total Certainty Factor                                 0 and no DHCP eventhough i have set DHCP = class-identifier CONTAINS MSFT

  • A programme for displaying camera profiles ...

ColorThink Pro is displaying .icc profiles, but it does not have support for other types. Do you know a programme for dispalying the gamuts of DNG profiles and Canon picture style files? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your explanations ... you're a great helper Andrew.
I think input profiles as any other RGB profiles, I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. But, if so, they must have three primaries as ordinary profiles ... is it correct? ... and are they RGB profiles? What is the difference between them and standard .icc profiles?
I need to clarify one point in my mind ... what are the function of input profiles? Their function is to take the linear raw RGB data created after demosaicing and send them to the PCS and then from the PCS to the ProPhoto RGB (for example), isn't it? I'm sorry, I asked this question to you one more time in another topic, but I couldn't understand them completely. If their function is so, they bound the unknown gamut of camera into the known RGB color space.
Let me try to explain in other words ...
Please think just from the color management perspective.
As we shoot the scene, we have analog raw data ... after passing through converter, we have 14 bit luminous raw data ... and as the third step, demosaicing process converts our single channel raw data into the 3 channels raw RGB data. The gamut of this RGB data depends on the colors of the bayer filter the camera has. Correct to this point?
Then, we need to convert this raw RGB data into the some other known RGB color space ... and I think that the function of input profiles is to send the raw RGB data to the PCS for turning it into -for example- PRoPhoto RGB. Input profiles are one way profiles. That is, they are getting raw RGB data and send this data to the PCS. That's all, this is their job.
raw RGB data>Input profile>PCS>a known RGB color space ... please correct, if this workflow is not correct.
Raw RGB data at the beginning has a gamut depends on the colors of bayer filter ... we can not know it exactly ... ok. But, the gamut of input profile depends on the primaries of the profile and they are constant for a given profile. Its function is to map raw RGB (unknown gamut) to the known RGB color space. So, I think that we can know the gamut of input profiles exactly. As a result ... the gamut of cameras are not same with the gamut of input profiles. We can not know exactly the gamut of cameras, but we can know the gamut of input profiles. Wrong? And, input profiles have bounding effect on the gamut of a camera. They draw the actual boundaries for our images from the color perspective. I mean, the gamut of input profile is the first known gamut in the process of digital imaging? So, they have great importance in the process.
I'm a little bit confused ... indeed, I need to understand what takes place in a camera after taking a shoot. Do we have such a diagram explaining the main steps of digital image capture from the point of color management ... and of course, the main steps (just titles) after opening a raw image in ACR. I think that such a diagram explaining the main color management steps can not be thought as a commercial secret.

Is it possible to move an existing profile (at all!) to a home server and configure it as the default - if not only - profile on other installations on other PCs, thus avoiding sync-related plug-ins?

Nope this is a firefox limitation. You can have multi-profiles and also have multi-sessions (multiple profiles running on the same pc at once) but havn't found anything for allowing one profile to be open on multiple pc's. It's annoying as I constantly need to close down my admin pc's session to get it open on my VM.

    Hallo,

  • SBS profiles with Pcs having different version of office

    Hi.
Have a situation , where we want to alter all the user profiles to run from our SBS2011 Server.
We have 15 PC's - But have 18users. Some of our users are part time , so not are all there at the same time. They want to Hot Desk ..
All are Running Windows 7 (64 bit).
We have 12 Machines running Office 2010
But we have just purchased 3 new ones, which have got Office 2013.
I can see a situation where a User will log on with an older machine ,(with Office 2010 installed) one day - then logon to one of the newer machines (with office2013 installed), at some time in the future.
I wonder how the server profle will be able to handle this ?
    Any suggestions
    Thank You
    Jim

    Hi Tris.
Thank you for coming back- appreciated.
The issue is the path from where Office runs.
I have set up a test system , using Office 2010 and Office 2007
    I setup 2 machines - both with Win 7
    Machine 1 has Office 2007
    Machine 2 had Office 2010
I would like to be able to put shortcuts on the Desktop / or Pin to the taskbar the office programs- Excel , Word etc.
    However Office 2010 - runs from c:\program files\microsoft office\office14
    Where as Office 20007 runs from  c:\program Files\microsoft office\Office12
If I logon to Machine 1 and Put either a shortcut or Pin the app to the task bar, for say Word, when I log on to Machine 2 - The Shortcut/ Taskbar  Word - has an "invalid" error.
Which is understandable as it it trying to load a program whuich is not installed on that machine.
    Thats my problem..
Im sure there must be a solution - But I cant think of a way around it.
    Hopefully somebody can.
    Thanks again.
    Regards

  • How to use multiple profiles within the same instance of Thunderbird

About a month ago, I had Thunderbird configured with three profiles,
and all three could be used within a single startup/instance of
Thunderbird. That PC is now gone. I have re-configured the three
profiles on a new PC, but am having trouble making all three
useable within the same instance of Thunderbird. Can you help?
    Both PCs are/were Windows-7 64 bit.

Thunderbird only opens on the default if one profile
    or
if Profile Manager is instructed to ask at startup it will allow you to choose which Profile to open else it opens on the last Profile used..
So it shows one Profile at a time in one instance of Thunderbird.
However, one Profile can have many mail accounts.
eg: I run 4 mail accounts in one Profile.

  • Office 2013 latest update broke new profile creation on all network computers

    Hi,
    Reporting a bug here!
    Setup details:
We're using samba 3 as our backend and all workstation are Windows 7 Pro x64.
Office 2013 Home and Business Retail (en-us) Click 2 Run version
    Context:
Deployed to the whole network of one of our client using the Office Deployement Tool.
We update their base update (no updates) to the latest update 15.0.4569.1508
Everything was working alright after initial Office 2013 installation with no updates. After updating the all the PCs to the latest version as of 31/03/2014, the user profile creation broke for newly created user.
    Symptoms and causes:
Trying to log on as a new user on the machine would give the following error on Logon before automatically loging off because it cannot copy the following file to the new user profile:
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_00.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_02.sqm
The Bici folder has Read and Execute permissions for everyone but the _XX.sqm files inside only have permissions (Full Control) for SYSTEM and Administrators and LOCAL SERVICE with the all permissions EXCEPT:
    - FULL CONTROL
    - TRAVERSE FOLDERS/EXECUTE FILES
    - CHANGE PERMISSIONS
    - TAKE OWNERSHIP
    Solution:
I gave "everyone" Read and Execute permission on those files and the new user could log in and his profile got created alright.
The files with broken permissions time stamp shows they've been modified during the Office 2013 update and Bici seems to be a OneDrive related service. This bug should get fixed ASAP.
    Event log error:
Windows cannot copy file \\?\D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm to location \\?\D:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.

  • How do I use long path names ("\\?\UNC\...") with Server 2008 roaming profiles?

    Hey folks!
    I administrate a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Domain with about 40 users on
Windows 7 SP1 clients. Because the users often switch between the many PCs, I am using Roaming Profiles which tend to produce errors with different application-specific paths and files inside the users profiles.
As one of many example, our standard mail application Thunderbird produces paths and files according to folders/subfolders and mails in a user's mailbox. Another one is Microsoft Office's Auto Recovery files which reside in a user's profile and can
    get very long.
These paths and filenames often extend the allowed max. path of about 256 characters, when (on log on or off) the synchronization process between the client and the server takes place, leading to errors in the event log and a notification to the user about
    the conflict:
"Event ID 1509 - Windows cannot copy file \\server\share\users\user123.v2\AppData\Roaming\looooong to location C:\Users\user123\AppData\Roaming\looooong. DETAIL - The filename or extension is too long."
In the long run this leads to different file versions on different clients which - in the case of Thunderbird - leads to missing mails.
After extensive searches and lectures of forums - including this - I haven't found a solution for this problem.
So my question is if there's a way to use the extended max path with roaming profiles and if so how do I get it to work?
I tried changing the profile path of a test user in the Active Directory user preferences from "\\server\share\profiles\test_user" to something like "\\?\UNC\server\share\profiles\test_user" without any changes in the system's behavior.
Also I think that because this is such a fundamental problem somebody must have come up with a solution for it...
    Thanks in advance,
    Nico

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting.
The Event 1509 can happen if the destination path of the users profile is on a server with a long name and share folder name. For detail information, please refer to:

  • How do I prevent "The user profile service service failed the log on" error messages?

I work for an organization with approximately 60 staff members across ~80 Windows 7 Professional PCs. Users log in with Active Directory accounts.
Approximately once per month, a random user will get an error message while attempting to log into their machine that says "The user profile service service failed the log on."  The solution to resolve this issue is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215?ppud=4&wa=wsignin1.0.
The problem is that I want to PREVENT this issue from happening, as it is incredibly inconvenient for the user. I had one staff member board a 5-hour plane trip expecting to do work, and once she got in the air she logged in and
received the error message and was unable to use her computer for the trip. I've had others locked out of their computer with deadlines to get things done, while I am at home off the clock. Editing the registry is not an easy fix, and so it's not something
I can just post instructions for in a knowledgebase article.
Does anyone know how to prevent this issue from occurring? I believe that it has something to do with a network-based startup script, or a service trying to connect to our file server, or the computer trying to connect to our ad server. All of these
are blocked by firewalls (unless the user is off-site), and I suspect that the services may be timing out, causing the user profile service service failed the logon error message, but I can't seem to eliminate it, after nearly a year of trying.
90% of the time this problem occurs when the user is off-site, but it has happened while the user is in the office too. Once the user gets this error message, the only way to resolve the problem is to log into their computer as a localadministrator account
and perform the method #1 fix in the knowledgebase article.
    Thanks

Have you checked the logged files in event viewer around the time when problem occurred?
Is there any suspicious events like error or warning related to this issue.

    Hello,

I've got a problem with USB Controller device(i think the problem is in EFI partition) because when I insert different USB flash disks, no one appears in System Profiler. I'm using MacOSX 10.5.8, and a Macbook Air (adquired at August, 2009-MacBookAir2,1).

I don't think Linux changed my partition table at all, neither GPT either EFI partition. But I don't know how to probe it.
    - I had done a boot from pendrive with a really extrage crash that advertises Macintosh doesn't well prepared for USB flash booting from rEFIt.
    - Something I found that I think isn't normal is a second option that appears with rEFIt when I only have a HFS+ partition and an EFI partition. Seems like the GPT/EFI partition didn't well update when I changed my partitions (and no USB HD device was input).
    Notes:
    - My USB device/controller/software was fine until (I think) booted from a FAT partition with an Ubuntu ISO image and I tried to install it(hipotesis).
    - Once I had an extrange problem when I disconnected an USB HD and I couldn't mount any more until I halted the system.
    - I tried with the IOUSBFamily kext for 10.5.8(349.4.3), but nothing changes.
    - I tried reinstall rEFIT.
    - I tried updating Partition table.
    - I can't backup my data with no USB, I don't wanna format (if possible) my HD and I want to discover the problem.
    - My USB HDs function in other PCs.
    - Map Partition Scheme: GUID Partition table.
    - My knowledge on this subject are scarce
I think the problem is EFI partition but I want to confirm previously before trying to recover this partition.
    Thanks for the patience,
    Alejandro.
(Sorry about my english, if you don't understand anything, please tell me)

I am having exactly the same problem. I have a LaCie 750GB HD that I've been using to store files too large for my internal HD and suddenly it won't mount to my computer (when it plug it it I get a message that says "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." And when I tried to fix it using disk utility it said my only option was to backup my HD and reformat, but I can't access the files on the HD to back them up and I would rather not lose everything. Any ideas?

  • DC on VM Restored after crash - Does Not allow PCs to Join Domain, or Domain Users to Log in

We currently had a RAID array crash and rebuilt our main server which housed VMs for our Web and DC.
The main server was restored from a bare-metal backup from 6 months prior to the latest backup of the VMs (not sure if pertinent)
Since the Restore, Domain computers cannot access file shares on the main server or VMs - "unspecified network error

Removed the main server from the Domain to re-join it due to some issues with logging in (even with a Domain Admin account) - Found that any PC removed from the domain was no longer able
to rejoin - Receive (Network path was not found error)
Domain Users cannot log in to their computers - Error reads "The trust relationship between this computer and the domain has been lost" - Domain Admin accounts can log in without
    problem.
Have been working on it for two weeks and tried most of the things that I have found in others questions for related

All PCs can ping the DC, and get name resolution.  Checked IPs, DNS on both WS and DC (DC points to its own IP address with no other DNS), Forwarders for DNS appear to be working,
as normal DNS name resolution and internet access works on all PCs.  Have tried disabling NIC card and installing another NIC.  All searches keep pointing back at the same things that I have tried.  I feel like I am missing something stupid.
     Please help

The backup you used is too old. That is why your clients are experiencing trust relationship failures: the computer passwords are no longer matching so they are failing to connect to AD. You need to disjoin and join them again.
I understand that this is the only DC you have so please make sure that the DC is not multihomed, that it points to its private IP address as primary DNS server and 127.0.0.1 as secondary one. Also, you might need to rebuild your SYSVOL folder if you keep
    getting the SYSVOL errors: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/315457?wa=wsignin1.0

  • Unable to delete renamed User Profile

    Greetings!
I have been enjoying the nuances of Windows 8.1... right.  Anyway, I have Win8.1 64bit on this excellent HP SLimline PC.  Now I need some help with the OS.  I'm an avid Windows 7 user and like it very much. Of my four PCs this is the only one with 8.1 and and I'm having some learning curve experinces, of which this is one.
So, I've had this computer since July 2014 and am not having issues other than with account administration.  The problem is that the main administrative account (yes, I use two accounts, one for daily work and an admin account to manage the computer - life is more secure that way).
The admin account user name needed to be changed, so I did that.  One would think that changing the account name would automatically do that across the board in the filiing system.  In this case, not so.  Win8.1 created a new profile.
I'm not saying that the profile name didn't change for login purposes, it did and that looks fine.  However, in looking at the Users listed in File Explorer and also on the network, the old user profile still exists with all the rights and privileges of a normal administrator's profile.
I'm thinking this is not good for a couple of reasons; it causes confusion on the network. It also creates an un accessable set of files becuase there is no way to log in to clean it out.  And it may pose a security problem.
Also, note this has not degraded the function of the computer, yet it does show up sometimes in unpredictable circumstances.
What have I done to mitigate this issue?   Initally took a chance on system restore. I don't have a restore point going back far enough in time to correct this.  Next, I tried the old fashioned "highlight and delete" some of the content. Not such a good idea and the system won't let me anyway.  I am sure it needs to be done by the OS.  I'm not sure I want to edit the registry, just yet, but that may be my only choice.
So, I'm at a stand still for resolution. Not wanting to rebuild the computer, I need some way to scrub the user profiles and remove the one that is supposed to be deleted.
As always, thanks to anyone who can suggest a positive way to correct this issue. It's probably really easy ... maybe

    Hi,
Welcome to HP support forums. I don't know why people hate Windows 8.1 (not 8), I love it and upgraded 80% of my laptops at home to Windows 8.1. My tablet uses Windows 8.1, my phone uses Windows 8.1 too. I only keep 2 machines run Windows 7 for support purpose.
Windows 7 also keeps old account(s), it creates new account profile when we create new user. Now back to your question, hope the following article helps.
       http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2127747/delete-administrator-account-created-windows-windows-inst...
(Basically change old account to normal user account (not Admin) and you can delete it).
    Regards.
