Profit center and segment columns in the General ledger view of FB03L

Hi Experts,
one customer is asking how to get the Profit center and segment columns in the General ledger view of FB03L.
Could you please assist?
Thanks, Mateus

Enter company code, doc. no., etc. in the selection screen of FB03L and hit Enter.  In the next screen that displays the document, choose change layout option (it is third icon from the right in the icons that are right above the document line items) and move profit center and segment fields from Column Set (the fields on the right) to the Displayed Columns (left) and hit Enter.  You will see the fields with values, if any.  Using the same icon again, choose save layout and save that layout.

  • New Ledger - Profit Center and Segment in stock purchase

    Hi Gurus,
In a case with New Ledger where Profit Center and Segment scenarios are activated:
    1. How derivate the Profit Center and Segment in a stock purchase, because here there isn't an expense account imputed to a Cost Center.
    stock             +1000
    supplier          -1000
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Material Master will have a profit center attached and profit center amster shouldl have segment. And thus derivation of both will happen.

  • Entry View is not matching with General Ledger View in a document

    Dear Experts
My problem is entry view is not matching with general ledger view because of  profit center. I have  posted the general ledger account with posting key 40 and profit center 1200 but when we see the same through general ledger view getting different profit center (i.e. 1410).
Offsetting general ledger account is compulsory ? if it is working for one general ledger account it should support other general ledger accounts also, but it is not the same in our scenario. Any customization level problem ?
    Earliest help is needed.
    Thanks - VG.

    Hello VG,
In the general ledger view, the line items for the selected ledger are taken from a data merge between the document line items in the entry view and the document line items in the general ledger view. In the case of fields that exist in both views, the data in the general ledger view takes priority. However, fields are only transferred from the general ledger view to the fields in the entry view if they are active in the relevant ledger. If fields exist in the general ledger table group but are not active in the relevant ledger, they are transferred from the entry view. In the data merge, amounts in the entry view are in some cases (such as cash discounts) distributed proportionately across the amounts in the general ledger view. This is necessary if, as a result of document splitting, a line item in the entry view has been split into multiple line items in the general ledger view. The proportionately distributed amounts in the entry view cannot then be used for reconciliation with account balances because the total of the cash discount amounts from the line items, for example, does not correspond to the balance of the cash discount account as a result of the rounding differences.

  • Dummy profit center and profit center clearing account being used

    Dear Gurus,
We are implementing ECC 6.0 and will have FI PCA.
I have 2 profit centers.(and one dummy profit center 9999)
    1)RM common
    2) FG1
When RM is issued to production order and order is confirmed, the goods movement are 261 and 101 respectively.
the entry at the time of confirmation is
    Discription                          Profit center
    Consumption of RM             9999
    To RM inventory                RMCommon
    FG Inventory dr                  FG1
    To Factory output account  9999
What should actually happen is instead of 9999 consumption of RM should hit profit center RM common and instead of 9999 the factory output account should hit FG1.
The profit center clearing account is being used for the entry in the GL view (as opposed to entry view in accounting)
Only then will accounting treatment be correct.
I have checked field statuses of the respective accounts and they have profit center and segment as optional fields.
Can you suggest what may be wrong and where i need to change the splitting config.
    Regards,

    Hi
Profit Center is derived from the assignment of Profit center in material master in costing view.
    In the production scenario,
Consumption of raw material Dr - PC of FG
Cr Stock of RM - PC RM
Dr Stock of FG - PC FG
Cr confirmation of production of the Finished goods - PC FG
The reason for that is the production order is created with respect to the Finished Goods, master data of the production order inherits from the Finished goods.

  • Cost center empty in general ledger view for balance sheet accounts

    Hi !
We are implementing ECC6 with new GL functionalities. We activated differents scenarii: cost center, profit center and segment.
Using FB03 (display document) we noticed that in the entry view, everything is fine: cost center, profit center and segment are filled successfully.
However, in the New GL view, the cost center is not filled for balance sheet accounts.
    Any solution?
    Regards,
    Julien

    HI,
Cost center will never be filled for the Balance Sheet account. For Balance sheet account Profit Center is required to be filled.
Don't be afraid this is the fundamental practice across the globe. Cost centers will be filled in only Expense account.
Exception to above rule is Asset master will recieve cost center because this will help in determining asset per department.

  • Document number ranges in entry view and in General Ledger view

What is the difference between Document number ranges in entry view and in General Ledger view ?
We have new GL activated in our system , and  found that the  GL Document types ( SA) are assigned to document number ranges in entry view . What is the need to define document number ranges in General Ledger view ?

    Hi,
Document Number Range in entry view is the document numbers which are posting in your leading ledger. You cant achieve the same document number range to the general ledger view. A General ledger view can have both Leading ledger view and non leading ledger view therefore document number range should not be kept same for both ledgers as your running document number gets skipped.
That to some times you can only post documents to only Non Leading ledgers. Therefore a separate number ranges needs to be created for general ledger view
    Hope u understood.

  • General ledger view and entry view

Can any one help me in understanding the difference between GL(general ledger) view and entry view?

    Hi,
While entry view shows the Customer/ Vendor and other revenue/ Expence GLs
General ledger view shows the  Reconciallation GL and  revenue/ Expence GLs. We cannot find Customer and Vendor details here.

  • Document types for Entry view Vs document type for General Ledger view

    Dear experts...
Can you explain what is the deference between Document types for Entry view and document type for General Ledger view?
    Dasu

    Hi,
    Document Types for Entry View
In this activity, you define your document types. Document types are used to differentiate the business transactions and to manage how document are stored.
Document Types for General Ledger View
You define for non-leading ledgers the document types for the documents in the General Ledger view. At the same time,  you assign for each document type a number range to be applied in the     assignment of document numbers:
o   You do not need to make these settings for your leading ledger
because, in the case of this ledger, the document number in the
entry view always corresponds to the document number in the general
            ledger view.
o   You only have to make these settings for any non-leading ledgers
that have a fiscal year variant that differs in at least one company
code from the fiscal year variant of the leading ledger in this
company code. In this case, the document number in the entry view
does not correspond to the document number in the general ledger
view and you have to define a separate document type with document
number assignment for the general ledger view.
For all non-leading ledgers that, in the company code to which the
postings are made, have a fiscal year variant corresponding to the
fiscal year variant of the leading ledger in this company code, the
document number in the entry view always corresponds to the document
number in the general ledger view.
            Note
The need to define a document type for documents in the general
ledger view depends only on whether the fiscal year variant of the
non-leading ledger in the company code (to which the postings are
made) differs from the fiscal year variant of the leading ledger in
            this company code.

  • Display Currency tab during General ledger view in T-Code F-53

    Hi
When Iam making a payment in foreign currency using T-Code F-53, then on simulation of the document in the General Ledger View (Ctr+F12), Iam trying to press the tab 'Currency' (F9), however, it shows blank, there is no currency visible in it.  However, when I press the same tab during Entry view simulation, it shows all the three currencies maintained.
Can anybody analyse the situation and tell me what can be the problem.
    Regards
    Abhishek Kumar

    Hi,
If you have activated New GL then check in Financial Accounting Global settings (New) > Ledgers > Ledger >
Define currencies of Leading Ledger.  Secondly, you have to check in FBZP, the payment method in country >
Currencies allowed - If you have not defined anything all the currencies will be taken.  In F-53 when you
processing the transaction itself, you can see three currencies, i.e. local currency, group currency, and
hard currency translations. If you click display currency F8, the system will give a pop up for selection
based on document currency(by default), local currency, group currency and hard currency.  Please check
    and revert back.

  • Splitting in NEW GL with one profit center and two segments

What options are avialble for splitting in New GL when there should be one profit center and two segments - maybe characteristic derivation could solve it?

If I have understood your question correctly then you have one profit center and you want to attach two segments to it.
Segment is higher level than the profit centre. One segment can have n number of profit centres but one profit centre will have only one segment. This is the drawback in using the 'segment' in SAP. Also, it is difficult to change sengment embedded in profit centre master.
You might try using profit centre groups than segment.

  • Profit center and Partner profit center assignment in TM transaction

    Dear Experts,
I am very new on TRM, could you tell me how you define profit center and partner profit center for FI posting pass from TRM? I did not see there is field for PC or PPC on any of TM transaction.
    Appriciate your help.
    thanks
    CK

    Hi,
For postings from treasury you can assign default profit center and business area (also segment from EH3) to account assignment reference.  The basic idea being that you generally manage all similar transactions with same account assignment reference through a same organization unit like profit center.  You do this assignment in TRM -- General Settings -- Accounting -- Link to other Accounting Components -- Assign additional account assignments.
However in case you want to have a different profit center derived in a different way than through account assignment reference, you could use a custom logic and derive it using the BAdI TPM_ACCIF_TRAC.

    Hi,
We require the profit center and plant code and division in FI

We are unable to input plant or profit center in the customer line item

    Hi
Profit center / cost center are generally entered in revenue & expense line items (P&L items). Customer / vendor master and line items are balance sheet items which will not show profit / cost centers.

  • Functionality of Profit Center and Cost Center

    Hi,
I am unable to understand the functionality of Profit center and cost center, I know that cost center represents area within an organization for which you will like to see the expenses for a particular time period. for example in an organisation we have three cos centers Accounts, HR and Admin. whenever you post an accounting document in FI you will specify the cost center to which the expense relates. but in some cases when you post an expense and give the relative cost center the profit center is also driven by the system. why is this behavior? i mean i have posted an expense not an income then why is system driving the profit center as well?
Profit centers are used if you want to see the profit of different area of your organisation. in what kind of postings we use profit center? and if we could use profit center to draw income and loss for a specific area why do we need segment reporting? and what is the difference between Segment and Business area. what i understood from their definition is that they are both same and use for same purpose.
I am totally lost in these concepts. please some one help me out with an example. i am stuck at this point. some one please clarify my concept of Profit Center, Cost Center, Segments and business area please.

    Hi,
Cost center & Profit Center are organizational units   within the enterprise structure , created for better internal control.
As the name suggests Cost Center  is  the lowest level  of the organizational unit representing a defined location of cost incurrence or otherwise to which you can meaningfully assign the cost(both direct & Indirect).
Profit Center is an organizational unit  in accounting  ,where management would require to see the profitability & fix the responsibility. It may be each plant/division of the company .
If you consider the Plant is the Profit center, you can take the various deptts in the Plant as cost centers. you can draw a balance sheet & profit & loss account statement at profit center level but this will be for your internal use. From this you can know the ROI on particular area. Profit centers are assigned inside the cost center so when you update cost center, profit centers are updated automatically.
Where as Segments are used for legal reporting of your accounting standard as per IFRS. Both Business Area & Segments are more or less same with some technical difference.
Business area  is a free organizational unit. It can be derived through cost center or can be entered manually.
But segment is a dependent organizational unit. It is defined & attached inside the  profit center master data. It can’t be entered manually.
SAP suggest to use the Segment concept.
    Thanks & regards

  • Profit center and AR Residual Item

    Hi,
The Open Items ( Invoices are entered Dr Customer Cr Sale Revenue ) obtain the Profit center from Revenue Line item (the off setting entry ).
During month end in Profit center 1KEK transfers the OI balances to the respective Profit center .
In Clearing the Open Item using F-28 if there is a shor pay then we prefer to create  residual item .
What will be the profit center for the residual item as there is no reveunu  ( Dr Customer Cr bank receipt)
How do I copy the Profit center of original Invoice to the residual OI?
Is there any way I can enter Profit center on the screen manually ?
    Regards,
    Chitra.

    Hello,
I am facing the similar issue. Residual items are flowing to "DUMMY" profit center during 1KEK. This is because in the document of residual item all the line items are Vendor/Customer line items. System is not able to find a Profit center from the offsetting entry and hence determines Dummy profit center.
Also, I face the similar issue for transfer between Vendor/Customer.
Please help with how you overcame this issue.
    Thank you in advance
