Program changes photo colours automatically?

I use photoshop element 2.0.
When I upload photos the program automatically changes the photo colours to a duller shade across the whole photo... brighter rich colours are lost.
(i have tested that it isnt just that the colours appear different in photoshop but not when saved by uploading photos into photoshop, doing nothing to them but save it, then compare the original and the saved photo - the colours differ significantly.)
Restoring the original colours is difficult but I attempt to get close using the Enhance - adjust brightness/ contrast.
I am sure that this isn't a universal program fault so perhaps one of my settings is wrong?? It has done it since I bought it but up to now I have lived with it however it is really starting to put me off using photoshop when the striking natural colours are lost.
I am sure other photographers dont have this problem so there must be something i can do to solve it.

How do I stop B/W photos changing to colour?

I am running LR 2.7 on a Mac and this weekend for the first time, I set my camera to black & white mode and took a series of raw photos. When I imported them they all came across in the filmstrip as black & white but as soon as I started viewing them they changed to colour. I know the raw file contains all the colour data etc. but I really wanted to work on the black & white image from the camera and not have to start from a colour image? What did I do wrong? How can I stop it changing in future when I shoot raw files?

Lightroom knows little to nothing about your in-camera process settings. So, setting the camera to B&W and expecting the images to be correctly rendered is futile. The following post from the FAQ forum should help explain the reasons http://forums.adobe.com/thread/358016?tstart=0
If you really want your images to appear as B&W in Lightroom you can apply one of the B&W develop presets during import.

Automatic refresh of photo order when changing photo titles in iPhoto 9.6

I've just moved from an older version of iPhoto to 9.6.
In the previous version, when you changed the title of a photo (within an event), the sort order of the photos was automatically and immediately updated. In 9.6 it isn't - I have to do View - Sort Photos then select another sort criteria (e.g. date), then do this again for title, to get the photo order to refresh.
Does anyone know if I am I stuck with this new (retrograde) behaviour, or if there's a way to get iPhoto 9.6 to automatically refresh the photo order?
Otherwise, is there a keyboard shortcut for refreshing the photo order, or for changing the view - sort photos criteria?

It will resort if you leave the Event (click All Events button) and then go back. Not a good solution but quicker IMO than using the View ➙ Sort menu method.

Am I correct that Photos does not support external editors? i.e., in Aperture, I click Photos Edit with.... and can open in Photoshop or various plug-ins. Changes are then automatically saved back to Aperture. Nonexistent in Photos?

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

Changing a colour in picture

I have a picture that I want to change a colour in.
Simple stuff right?
The picture is a cartoon I have in jpeg and basically i want to choose and area and change that area to another colour.
Can i do it in Aperture?
If not what program do you recommend I use?

Changing the colours in a logo

A client of mine has supplied me with a logo, but asked if I
can change its colours to fit in with a new website design.
I've managed to change most of it OK where solid colour is
used, but not sure how to easily change the colours on the edges to
soften them.
I've posted the logo here to show what I mean. The darker
colour on the right is pretty much OK, but the orange edges are
particularly bad.
Any pointers or help with this would be much appreciated.

Use the Subselection tool for altering control points in an
FW vector.
To extend the control arms for a control point, click k the
point with
the Pen tool and drag away from the point. You should not get
additional
points on the path by doing this.
In FW CS4, the Path panel gives you a lot of control over
vector points
and paths. It's worth checking out.

How do I change the colour of a PS frame?

I am creating christmas cards and adding photos of my kids onto christmas backgrounds. I am dragging frames from the right hand side but want to change the colour of these frames - can someone please tell me how to do that?
I've worked out how to do it by clicking on the black/white circle and using the hue/saturation but when I go to do that with the frame on the new background, the colour of the background changes instead of the frame. I need to change the frames colour while on the background to get an exact match to what I want (does that make sense???)
Is there an easier way to create a frame for the photos? I also want to create a text box / frame (with the christmas message) with a solid colour background (different to the main background) can anybody tell me how to do that?

In a nutshell, you have to simplify the frame layer and erase the interior.
Here are the steps:
Create your background.
Add a new layer:
Drag the frame you want to use onto the editing surface. The frame will come in on its own layer:
Simplify that frame layer:
Choose the Magic Wand Tool and give it these settings:
Click on the interior gray area of the frame with the Magic Wand to select it, and hit your Delete key:
Switch to the Eraser Tool and erase the stuff that's left in the middle:
Select the empty layer (Layer 1 in this example) and use File...Place to place your image on it. The layer name will change to the name of the image. Adjust the size and placement of the image. Your layers will now look like this:
With the frame layer selected, add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, making sure to "clip" it to the frame layer. Adjust the sliders to suit:

Batch Change Photo's

Hi,
I am looking to make a number of changes to photo's that I receive to make them web friendly.
I would like to be able to select a bunch of photo's (say around 70), reduce the size on disk, reduce the width to around 500px and also change the photo to black and white.
I know I can do all of it in iPhoto but it requires a number of steps of importing, exporting and re-importing, I wondered if anyone knew of a programme that would do everything I wanted in one go.

I have tried your suggestion but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I selected the file that has all the photo's and Automator copies those pics to the folder I specified but the resizing and colour doesnt work.
I have reduced the automator to just get the photo's and change the colour but that doesnt work for me either.

Any way to re-dnld purchased music? had program change and somehow music went to My Pic's Folder which of course can't be used. Can't figure how to "move" the file around. Have Windows XP..

The Purchase requisition will be created automatically for the THIRD PARTY and INDIVIDUAL PURCHASE ORDERS
The field in VOV6
ORDER TYPE
ITEM CATEGORY
ACCOUNT ASSIGNMENT
Will determine the Document type for creating the Purchase requisition
IFor both THIRD PARTY & INDIVIDUAL PURCHASE ORDER the standard Purchase requsition document type is NB and
ITEM CATEGORY 5 will determine whether it is third party or Individual PO.

I have hooked up a 16 channel Groovebox with logic 8 to use as a sound module. Is it possible in Logic to "attach" a program change message to a midi region?
e.g. A region playing the groovebox midi channel 1 sends a message to the groovebox telling it to play program/preset 56.

There are several methods to do that...
1/ Select the midi region and double click it to open in Piano Roll. Open Hyper Draw in Piano Roll and choose Program Change from the list. Draw Program changes there.
2/ Place the Playhead to the place you like to input Program Message in Arrange, hit the "Pause" button in the Transport and enable "Record" button. This way Logic is in "Record in place mode". While the region track is selected go to its Inspector and check the "Prg" box after that click and hold your mouse to the right of it and choose program 56 from the list. Logic will make a new small region with the Program message. If you have a setting "Merge the new recorded regions" in the Settings this small region will be automatically merged with the selected midi region in question.
3/ Select the Midi region and open it with Event List editor. Select "Create" button, and click the Program button to create new message.
4/ You can use Hyper Edit window and create "Program Event definition" after that draw program changes etc...

Changing the colours on multicomponent XY graphs.

I know this should be easy and I even looked at the XY graph example that Labview offers. However, I am not having much success when I try to change the colours of two datasets plotted on the *same* XY graph. I've placed two VI's here that I have been working on. The first (graph.vi) plots the two datasets but I can only get one colour. In the second VI (graph2.vi) I can change the colours of each dataset but if the program is run continuously it hangs. Can anyone have a look at these and correct me on my mistake(s)?

I'm not sure what you wanted with your code and which your question is related with the VIs.
1. You mentioned a graph2.vi, but there is a graph.vi and a graph1.vi which are nearly the same.
2. I will describe what you have programmed. You have an outer while loop running until you abort the VI. This while loop contains a "left" while loop and a "right" while loop. The "left" while loop runs only once generating 4 random numbers. The autoindexing gives you 4 arrays existing of one element each. Two of them were bundled togther giving one plot consisting of one point. These two plots were given to the "right" while loop. In the loop you add them to an existing array coming from the shift register. The output and there the sh
ift registers contains an array of plots which is a valid data type for a multi plot xy-graph. After the first iteration you have an array of two elements each representing a plot. In the next iteration you will add 2 new plots so you have 4 plots to print, next iteration 2 new plots so 6 to print and so on. Your program dosen't hang. You have defined a point style only for the first two plots. since each plot is only one point long the graph could not draw any line so the other plots will not be seen.
3. I have changed your VI so it will add a new point to the two plots on each iteration of the outer most loop.
