Program Defaults Resetting

I've checked out all the threads regarding this topic. There hasn't been a sure-fire solution offered yet. I am sure there must be a plethora of people having the same problem. Put simply, if I change the default choice of program to open a certain file, whether its a weblink or a PDF file, it will reset back to OS defaults upon restart. For example, if I set a PDF to open with Acrobat, it will be reset back to Preview once I restart the mac.
What is the problem here and what is a sure-fire solution?

What method are you using to set the default application?
I normally +'Get Info'+ on the item and select +'Open with:'+ and change from there. This also gives you the option of +'change all'+ (files) to open with the same application in the future.
This method has always worked for me.

How to get rid of text in bookmark toolbar? the default reset will not work

my bookmark toolbar has changed. I clicked on default reset so just icons show but it will not work. can not get rid of text.

The Bookmarks Toolbar, by default, shows both icons and text. Here is an Add-on that will allow you to show only the icons.

Ldap programming: Admin Reset Password Attribute

Hi,
I would like to write a program to reset the user password by a administrator such that the user will get a return code 2 "password is reset by admin" to notify the user to change his password.
I know attribute password of a user in Directory Server store the password, but I dont know which attribute contain information about "admin had reset the user pasword".
I got trobule for this question for a few day, hope I could got the answer here. Thz

Yes we did a back up, but it's a new computer and we can't find it anywhere on it. We had to "authorize" it through itunes, but still nothing. Thanks for the help

To add a custom link/button for password reset on window log-on screen and run program to reset password

In order to make AD driven user's password request to be resolve automated. we wanted to have reset link or button on windows log-on screen, please guide incase same functionality is available or we need to customize windows.
Whenever the situation come that use forget his/her password or lock after expire date then we want user should reset his/her password from window's log-on screen. So to customize and put reset password screen on Log-on screen please give any idea if functionality
is already available or any program if already written by someone...

Does any one know the program name which resets the SIDs of the object. We have deleted 0MATERIAL sids from SE14 expecting that the system start the number range again from one. But it is not doing that. Now we are unable to access transaction data.

Try using transaction RSD1 ro repear the infoobject.

BAPI_PO_RESET_RELEASE soved the probelm. U need to copy and remove std. check and it will work fine.

Passive-interface default resets configuration

Hello all,
I would like to run a scenario by you guys and get your input regarding the "passive-interface default" OSPF command. Let's assume I am working on an existing configured OSPF router with the following configuration:
router ospf 1 router-id 10.10.10.1 passive-interface default no passive-interface GigabitEthernet6/1 no passive-interface GigabitEthernet6/2 network 10.10.10.0
If I go and paste the duplicate configuration in as follows what would the expected result be?
router ospf 1 router-id 10.10.10.1 passive-interface default
My thoughts were that there would be no impact to OSPF, routing, or the likes. Unfortunately this is not the case. I have found on my device that when you repaste the "passive-interface default" command in to the config that it actually resets all existing "no passive-interface" commands and enables passive-interface on all interfaces globally.

This is especially bad if you are performing maintenance on the router out of network where your connectivity requires a default route to be learned via OSPF. Has anyone else encountered this or do they feel this behavior to be a bit odd?

Documentation says:
"The default keyword sets all interfaces as passive by default. You can then configure individual interfaces where adjacencies are desired using the nopassive-interface command. The default keyword is useful in Internet service provider (ISP) and large enterprise networks where many of the distribution routers have more than 200 interfaces."
I'm not sure why it doesn't honor the existing no passive-interface commands but maybe it was something in the code that was necessary to put them all passive first.
At least it's good that you tested the behavior so you know what to expect. If you already have passive-interface why would you want to enter it again? If you want to make interfaces passive that were non passive before you could do no no-passive interface x/x.

How to change program defaults?

This seems obvious but I can't find it - how do I universally change the default settings for specific types of files to specific applications? I was able to do it for Dreamweaver with the Always Open With checkbox but the pdf change to Acrobat only worked on the individual file, same with the jpg change to Photoshop etc. Any help would be appreciated!

Pick a file of the type you want to change. Right click and pick get info. Now open the part that says Open with:. Now pick what you want to use to open that file type with. Then click change all. That should make that program the default for that type file.

Password reset or factory defaults reset

Hi all,
I recently bought a ironport C350 on ebay, but after receiving the unit, it turns out there is still a password present on the box and I'm unable to login.
How do I reset this password or fully reset the box to factory defaults ?
Ironport/Cisco support refuses to help me because there is no support contract on this device.
When I ask for a support contract, they refuse that too, and say that the product is going end of life by the end of this year, and thus don't want to help me anymore at all.
So far for service ...
So how do I solve my problem now ?

sorry to hear that you are unable to access the box, the reason why support can't help you with that is that all Cisco IronPort boxes are bundled with a support contract, and as this model is end of life, you cannot get support for it as well. So as Ken pointed out already, please contact the seller, if this box was sold on Ebay as a working IronPort appliance and not just as server hardware, you'd request a return and your money back, as this appliance won't be of any use that you expected.

Set program defaults

Win 7 professional, upgraded from CS3 to CS5.5...
I have a user that is trying to set Illustrator 5.1 as the default program for .dwg files. Currently it is set to use the CS3 version as default. I have tried using the Default Programs application in Control Panel and tried using the Opens With... context menu from a .dwg file with no success. I have looked through the Preferences menu in Illustrator 5.1 to see if there was a way to do it there, but no luck.
Any suggestions? Do I need to remove CS3 first?

That may be ok. There are many programs that can handle images.
If you look closely at my screen capture you will see several windows open.
My Start button showing the start of all Program you may notice several versions of Photoshop and bridge.
I also open windows default Program and its first two items "set your default programs" and "Associate a file type or protocol with a Program"
In window set default Program you may notice there is no version of Photoshop in it just like on your system.
In window Associate a file type or protocol with a Program that Photoshop CC is associated with jp2 jpg and others. I probably should also associate jpeg with Photoshop CC instead of FastPictureViewer.
Its a bit messy and applications keep trying to associate themselves with a file type. If you need to reinstall CS2 after a newer version of Photoshop associations get changed to CS2. You need to change associations back to CC or reinstall CC on top of itself.
In fact when I just changed Jpeg to CC. CC did not show in Open with till after I click on other programs or I browsed to the exe
