Program downloaded to desktop,how to move?

When I got my MacBook 2 weeks ago one of the first things I did was download Foxfire. I read on this forum that it was compatible and I used it on my PC for years and really liked it. Well when I downloaded it I didn't have any problems and it runs great. But... it's file is on my desktop. I am able to put an icon in my dock but can't get the file off the desktop. I have looked in the help and read this forum to no avail.
Thank you for any help or insight you can give me I have really enjoyed learning about this computer.

Okay here is what I've done. When I did what Mike suggested I succeeded in erasing the whole program. So I went to Safari changed the download prefrences and downloaded the foxfire again to the application folder. But when I start the program it puts the Icon right back on the desktop. I guess that is just where it likes to be. :0) I can eject it but it goes right back when restarted. I appreciate the help but since this really is more a cosmetic problem than anything I'll consider it closed. I just like a clean desktop...

in my application I create tooltips for a JTable using the celltext when pressing the mouse.

The tooltip is always shown right from the mouse- pointer. If the mainwindow is maximized and I click near the right screen edge, the tooltip is show outside the desktop window.
Normally the tooltip should be moved left the mousepointer :

But that is exactly my problem, I don't know how to get the width of the tooltip window.
Any suggestions?

Adobe program folder on desktop/can i move?

For some reason the program folder (926mb) for Adobe 9 Pro Exended is now on my desktop. Can I safely move it to the programs folder? I have Win 7/64, if it makes a difference. This happened after a reinstall.

Apparently you reinstalled to the desktop rather than the Program Files folder. You can not move program files in Windows because most of the registry entries are tied to the location specified with the install. You will most likely have to deactivate, uninstall, clean up the registry with the MS registry cleaner or CCleaner, and reinstall. Be careful about where you tell Windows to install the program. Normally you would use the default.

Open any folder on your hard drive and go to the Go menu and select the Desktop option:
Type Command + F to open the serarch window for the Desktop and set Kind = Image
Select all of the files displayed, Command (right) - click on them and select the Move to Trash option in the contextual menu:
Go back to the Desktop. If you want to save those photos create a new folder on the Desktop, open the Trash in the Dock and move them to the new folder on the Desktop.
If you don't want to save those files just empty the Trash in the Dock.

Any way to re-dnld purchased music? had program change and somehow music went to My Pic's Folder which of course can't be used. Can't figure how to "move" the file around. Have Windows XP..

The movie had gotten to the point that I could watch it all the way through but it still said processing and got stuck at that point and when I turned off the wifi to try to restart it, it deleted its-self but did not free up any of the storage It was taking up
Restarting my iPad does not help
Some thing similar also happened to my old laptop when trying to download the iOS 5 update to my laptop when it came out. It kept getting disconnected and every time it would try to start over and act like what had already been downloaded was not there though it was still taking up the storage space.
And it continued repeating until it took up all of my storage space. The data file would not show up anywhere so I had to restore my laptop to the factory settings and that worked for awhile but I eventually had to get a new laptop.

I have a 2008 iMac which hard disk (as you probably know) is not upgradable. After 16 months of use the disk became full so I bought an external firewire drive (1T LaCie d2). My plan is to move most folders located under /Users/username/ (the Documents, Downloads, Movies, Music and Pictures folders) to the external drive and replace them with aliases.
Searching on the net, I found instructions on how to move the iTunes Music folder and how to change iPhoto default photos folder. I then moved the said folders and their contents to the external drive and created the aliases. Now when I try to delete the folders for their original location I get a message stating that "folders cannot be modified or deleted because they are required by Mac OS X". I know that I can delete these folders using terminal Unix commands but is this the correct approach?
Or should I go and create a new user account using as Home directory a folder located on the external drive? Or, alternatively, just change the existing user Home to one in the external drive?
I think my question is important and of general interest and I was really disappointed to find out that Apple has no documentation on this subject (or at least, I couldn't find any).

this happens because they are protected by "deny delete" ACLs.

that's one way to do it. then you can move the folders to teh external and put symbolic links, *NOT aliases* in their original locations.

that might be the easiest option. just copy the whole home folder to the external. then go to system preferences->accounts. unlock the lock at the bottom, control-click on your user and choose 'advanced options". in the popup change the location of the home directory to the external. then reboot and when you log in your home directory should be on the external. then you can trash the old home directory on the internal.

if you cant download them > email the iTunes Store emaill support adn explian the situation adn they will give you a regrant of all your purchases.
