Program loads at startup

How can I change a program or Safari so that it will not load at startup? I have a password app that I want to have not load while I test another!
Thx

First check System Preferences - Users & Groups and check to see Safari is not in the Startup apps, if it is then select it and click the - symbol below it. If it still starts then uncheck the box when you shut down that asks if you want all apps left open to re-start when you start up.
However why in the world are you shutting it down, simply put the machine to sleep or display to sleep (my favorite) and let the machine run 24/7, after nearly 8 years of Mac use that has been extremely stable for me.

    I'm using a T 60 for over one year. Recently noticed missing icon after startup. Checked problem reports, noticed item stating compatibility problem. I am able to run tpshocks.exe to load program. I tried to reinstall hprotect from lenovo download site, but still doesn't load on startup. Stumped. Does anyone have any ideas. Is there a way to change compatibility mode for this app?
    Thanks.

    If you are using Weblogic 10.3.4 then it's a bug - odiconsole throws that error. There is no issue with weblogic 10.3.3. Try with Weblogic 10.3.3 it works for us.

  • NvMixerTray loading at startup

    The program NvMixerTray.exe loads on startup via the registry -- but it doesn't show up in Task Manager.
    I'm guessing that this is only for systems that have nVidia sound on the mobo - which doesn't apply to the K8N Plat, and that therefore I should remove the entry from the registry. Is this correct?  If incorrect, then what does this program do?

    you dont want to install that.
    you got nvmixer cuz u installed the nvidia audio codec.  i am assuming you installed the drivers available from the nvidia website.  the cd for the motherboard does not have that nvidia audio driver.  you need to install the realtek driver.
    if you are using the driver pack from nvidia website just select all of the drivers except the audio one.  and you get the audio driver from realtek.com.tw
    I do have the Realtek drivers installed - but obviously I had the nVidia installed too. I'll get rid of it.
    Thanks.

  • Why do programs load slow after applying SP1 for NIDAQ 6.9.1?

    I wrote a VC++ program that does simple DIO with the LabPC+ board. The machine also runs another app written in VB.
    Originally, everything ran fine. I think this started after adding a VB app to the array of apps loading at startup, but now at bootup I get the "failed to initialize nipalu.dll" error. So, I applied SP1 for 6.9.1 and this error seems to have gone away. In exchange, it is taking more than a minute to load some very small programs now.
    The startup order is roughly: VB app (non-NIDAQ) -> my app VC++ (NIDAQ) -> an I/O server for Siemens S7 -> Wonderware Intouch.
    The VC++ app and the I/O server for Siemens S7 load slowly now. The first VB app and the last Intouch app load normally.
    I'm con
    templating changing the startup order but are there any other hints?

    Eisan
    Do you have this delay only when you have all three in the startup? Or do you still get a delay when only the VC++ app is in there?

  • load-on-startup problem

    Hai all,
    I want to run a servlet on start up
    i did following
    1) Add following to web.xml
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>Schedular</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.abc.xyz.Schedular</servlet-class>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    2) copied the file to com.abc.xyz
    but when i restarting iam getting following errror
    Cannot load Servlet name
    my java files shown below....am around it
    import java.util.Timer;
    import java.util.TimerTask;
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class Schedular extends HttpServlet {
    Timer timer;
    public Schedular(int seconds) {
    timer = new Timer();
    timer.schedule(new RemindTask(), seconds*1000);
    class RemindTask extends TimerTask {
    public void run() {
    System.out.println("hai !");
    timer.cancel(); //Terminate the timer thread
    public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
         super.init(config);
    System.out.println("About to schedule task.");
    new Schedular(5);
    System.out.println("Task scheduled.");
    public void service(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws IOException, ServletException
                   System.out.println("servee.");
    }

    In web.xml, you say the servlet class is com.abc.xyz.Schedular but your servlet isn't in the package.
    You need to add the following to your servlet...
    package com.abc.xyz;Hope this helps,

  • Date/time icon and other movable icons on menu bar cannot be loaded on startup,but it works if manually loaded

    Strange things happened since my mbp 13' (MD-101) was upgraded to 10.8.4 ----------- time icon, battery icon,and language icon (these icons can be moved when held Command key and drag) cannot be loaded on startup, but they still can be loaded when you get into System Preferences and manually  turn them on, as well as iStat Menus
    However, some other icons didn't bother, things like BetterTouchTool, NewsBar. They are immovable!! I guess it is the key factor that the icon is movable or not making the difference.
    Someone please lend me a helping hand?
    I've attached some pictures in order to make my situation easier to be understood.
    these icons can't be loaded on my loggin in.
    but they can be loaded manually
    however, these icons will be loaded on startup
    I've almost despaired to resolve it . Thanks for your help!

    I have a similar issue. When the computer goes into "Hibernate" mode -- that is, it loses power while sleeping and it writes the contents of it's memory to disk in order to boot into that exact configuration when woken up -- many of my icons when Apple-Tab'ing to another application appear as static. They look like a slightly colorized version of the "static snow" you see when tuning into a station that doesn't exist on a UHF antenna television. Also, icons in Chrome such as web sites "favorite icons" or favicon.ico (the icons that appear in the URL bar and bookmarks) will be scrambled in the same fashion , at first , until the actual icon is loaded.
    Between this, my menu bar and finder icons not displaying, and being unable to boot into safe mode, I'm getting quite ******. I have no idea what the **** is going on with my Macbook Pro. The issue of the scrambled icons actually existed prior to installing an SSD and doing a fresh install of Mountain Lion. I may end up throwing in the towl and re-installing the operating system but I'm sure SOMETHING will happen. It seems the latest update, 10.8.2, is absolute garbage.
    What the ****, Apple? And I really don't want to take the computer to the morons at the Apple Store. They are not "geniuses" by any measure.

    It's likely that the new drive isn't working, or it wasn't installed correctly, or you had some other hardware fault rather than a bad drive.

  • Program Load Error

    HI everyone,
        I have a problem regarding abap program,
    I have transported a program with tcode from development server to production  server but when i run the program in production server the program gives a runtime error.
    " Program Load Error " thus dumping the program.
    when i checked it in SE38 of production server it quotes " program does not exiist ".
    Can please anyone let me know wat is the reason??
    Thank you,
    Vivek.

    Hi vivekacharya,
    I think you saved  the report and tcode in different Transports Requests, you moved only one request in which the report is not exsist.
    so  go to se38 program goto utilities --> versions  -->  version management and then  get the request and transport  the request to production server.

  • load-on-startup 1 /load-on-startup not working in Weblogic 9.1

    Hi
              I have the following xml tag in web.xml file
              <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> for some servlets, i have given then sequence 1 to 5, but for some reason 5 is loading first and the whole application crashes because of this.
              do i have to mention anything in weblogic.xml?
              Any ideas how do i fix this

    You're right, your situation is very similar to the situation the other poster describes. However, the main similarity is that neither of you have given us any information about what is going wrong. We can't read minds or read what's on your screen. We need to see specific error messages, stack traces, and specific code that shows what you are trying to do.
              However, it's likely that you're running into problems with the issues with "tag reuse" and "tag pooling". You should first read the JSP specification in the areas that talk about this issue, although this will probably leave you with more questions than you started with.
              I'm guessing that your "<gui:button>" element doesn't have any attributes. It's possible that WebLogic is reusing a single "<gui:button>" tag instance for each occurrence in your page. You may have to figure out how to turn off tag pooling in the JSP compiler, but I'm not sure how to do that.
              It's possible that Websphere doesn't give you an issue with this because perhaps they didn't bother with the tag pooling optimization (it is a good thing to have it available).

    Sounds like a bug. I'd suggest opening a case with [email protected]
    FWIW, I get a little nervous about inter-application dependencies like

    The behaviour seems random and it looks to me as if Weblogic is just picking at

  • How long load-on-startup servlet stays in weblogic6.1 sp2

    does anybody know how long a load-on-startup servlet exists (before

    You can simply use ServletContextListener instead - that way you do not
              have to worry if (or when) WebLogic decides to destroy the servlet.

              I am trying to get a servlet to run at startup, and I have put the xml below in WEB-INF/web.xml to make this happen, but it is not working. The servlet does not run at startup.

              ALSO, The servlet in this case is the Cocoon servlet, and the reason I am trying to get it to run at startup is because in my application I am calling it from another servlet, instead of through a direct call to an *.xml file, and so it requires a direct call to Initialize the Cocoon Engine. So, if anyone knows anything about how to solve this problem, that would also be helpful.

  • Trivial program flickers on startup.

    The following program flickers on startup - the field is sometimes displayed, then erased, then displayed again.
    From the output to the error stream, it appears that the field is being painted, before the frame has even been. It's not surprising then that it gets erased when the frame is painted for the first time. This happens after the frame is made visible.
    Indeed. I've got around it with a hack which consists of having JTextField's paint method ignore the request if the frame hasn't been painted.
    But why does this happen?
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.Container;
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    public class Flicker implements Runnable {
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Flicker());
         public void run() {
              JFrame jf = new MyFrame();
              jf.setSize(800, 800);
              Container jfcp = jf.getContentPane();
              jfcp.setLayout(null);
              JComponent jtf = new MyTextField();
              jtf.setLocation(500, 500);
              jtf.setSize(jtf.getPreferredSize());
              jfcp.add(jtf);
              jf.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
              System.err.println("Setting frame visible");
              jf.setVisible(true);
         class MyTextField extends JTextField {
              @Override
              public void paint(Graphics g) {
                   System.err.println("JTextField paint called");
                   super.paint(g);
              MyTextField() {
                   super("Field text");
         class MyFrame extends JFrame {
              public void paint(Graphics g) {
                   System.err.println("JFrame paint called");
                   super.paint(g);
              public void update(Graphics g) {
                   System.err.println("JFrame update called");
                   super.update(g);
    }

    OK, FWIW, what I've surmised is this. When the JFrame is set visible, a PaintEvent is posted to the event queue. Then, when the swing component's repaint methods are called, the RepaintManager posts an InvocationEvent to run some code that will call the components' paint(Graphics) methods.
    The problem is that InvocationEvent events have a higher priority than PaintEvent events, so when the code constructing the component graph completes, the first event that gets dispatched is the one for the RepaintManager, which accordingly paints the components. Then finally the paint event is dispatched, and the frame paints itself and its children.
    A workaround, of sorts, is to set the frame visible as soon as it has been constructed and had its size and position set, and then to defer the rest of the code to a point after the PaintEvent is dispatched. This can be done using an AwtEventListener, as shown below. The major downside is that adding such a listener may be prevented by a SecurityManager.
    It becomes more fun when a layout manager is used for the frame, because it cannot be sized until all its descendant components have been added. The best I can think of is to add them all, pack the frame, then remove them again (or just their common ancestor), set the frame visible, and again wait for the paint event before adding them back.
    I can only assume that everyone out there is using such fast machines that the flicker is not visible.
    Sylvia.
