PROGRAM PARTNERS AND ONLINE MALL REMOVED!!!

Good Afternoon Everybody,
The latest hole in the sinking ship of Best Buy happened on July 31, 2014. Best Buy has removed the PROGRAM PARTNERS and ONLINE MALL!!! WHY???!!! No reason was given for the action. Just notice that it was going to be done. AND IT'S GONE!!! WHAT'S NEXT???!!!
They've made it harder to keep my Elite Plus Membership by making me have to spend an extra $1000 a year. They did away with the @gamer Magazine!!! And before somebody says. "That was decided by FUTURE US the publisher of the magazine." Please don't. Best Buy had something to say about it and you ALL should know that!!! It was the "OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF BEST BUY"!!!
I just don't get it???

Good morning MadDog760,
As you alluded to, the Program Partners and Online Mall aspects of the My Best Buy™ program were officially retired on 7/31/2014.  This decision was made so that we could focus more of our time on the aspects of the program that are more widely used by our members in an effort to make the program stronger.  Those members that did frequently utilize the partner offers were sent an email in mid July in-order to notify them of the upcoming changes.
Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns regarding this change to the forum.  We always appreciate the feedback that our members provide, and I can assure you that your feedback will be made visible to our program team so that it can be reviewed.  If you perhaps have any ideas about how to improve the My Best Buy™ program, then I would encourage you to post them to the IdeaX section of the forum so other members can vote.
Warmest Regards,

• Firefox is not available in C:\Program Files and in Add/Remove Programs

I am trying to run an Oracle application which is currently installed in one of our user's PCs, but when we try to generate a report it would fail to do so as Mozilla Firefox is installed on the system and I believe it is set as the default browser. I tried to uninstall it as it is not required anymore, but to my shock I didn't find it in Add\Remove Programs list and also not in C:\Program Files. I tried installed Windows Clean-Up utility, but the application doesn't exist there either. I want to remove Mozilla completely, can someone please help?!! By the way, I also deleted the Mozilla files under the Application Data of all user accounts on that machine; still no luck.

I believe that it's a good idea to leave them be JUST in case they installed a dependency that a new application is using.
This isn't exactly likely but it could happen.
When I'm uninstalling applications I use a tool called
Revo Uninstaller  which finds files and registry entries that applications might leave behind.
Will your machine explode and Windows stop booting? Probably not.
Are these left-over files destroying your Hard Drive capacity? Again, Probably not.
Basically, I can't think of much of a reason to delete them so I think it's decent to leave them just in case, but again it probably wont do any damage. Running an third-party application like
CCleaner is also good practice and could likely delete some of the unwanted/unneeded files and crud like that.
Also, most application settings are usually present in the C:\Users\UserAccount\Application Data\ and not in the Program Files or Program Data.
Goodluck bud,
Any questions or concerns feel free to let me know.

"program access and defaults" is not the place to remove programs in Windows. You need to go to the control panel and click on Add and Remove programs. For instructions on how to uninstall Firefox, see Uninstalling Firefox

• Long time ago I trialed elements 9  and could not remove from Programs; still can't

Long time ago I trialed Elements 9  and could not remove from Programs at the time; still can't?
I didn't go forward with '9' because of its size and it didn't appear to provide advantages for the cost.
How do I uninstall it when conventional methods fail. Message received in Windows Installer is, ' The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.' Elements 9 cannot be used.

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

• N95 remove search and online services

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can remove the search and online file sharing (my phone shows Flickr) from the home screen? I would just like to see the active standby apps, WLAN and my calendar entries.
I have software version V 30.0.015
Thanks

I'm afraid it's all or nothing. The programmable selection keys, the standby icons, Share Online and the search facility are all parts of the Active Standby. To get rid of them you have to get rid of Active Standby altogether:
Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Active standby

No need to apologize, Jim.  I think your rant was justified.  For years people have been telling me how easy the Mac was to use.  Imagine my frustration when I finally learned from friends and users that it takes weeks or months to make the transition from Windows to Mac.
Still, I agree that I acted to too hastily when I returned my mini-mac to the store only three days after I bought it.
I'm going to try again, this time with an iMac.  This time I'll keep it.  Since this thread is for the mini-Mac only, I'll probably be starting a new one for the iMac.
Why did I decide to try again?  Well, I do like the faster speed and compact hardware of the Macs.  I also like the fact that I can install Windows and use that for my programs until I transition completely to Mac, IF I make the complete transition.
Thank you all for your suggestions and advice.  I have paid attention to what you said.

• HULU Program for TV online FireFox restrictions ?

HULU program used for obtaining TV broadcasts online. Are there any restrictions within FireFox regards running this program. FireFox is my homelpage & primary browser

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

My ITunes got corrupted and I kept getting a message when updating iTunes64msi missing so I uninstalled all files and I thought I removed all registry values but  when reinstalling I get an older version is installed and cannot be removed. I need a solution.

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

• How do I move some program files and redirect my user files from ssd C to drive E?

Brand new HP Phoenix  h9-1183, Windows 7 64 bit SSD only 99.2 GB, data drive E: 2 TB.
When tried to transfer files from old HP desktop to new Phoenix, I got the message that there was not enough space. When I took a closer look, I was surprised that only 99.0GB was assigned to the OS. I have been trying to figure out how to remove some of the programs that came with the computer (i.e. DVD Maker, Windows mail, Cyberlink Power DVd, Power2go etc.) from the C drive onto the E drive where there is more space. Also if I could move my library (documents, pictures, music, vide etc.) to E  drive that would give the OS drive more space for updates etc. I have been searching for the how to, but have discovered that the program files and user files which contain the library etc. should not be moved according to Microsoft and if they are they won't cover any service. Tried to contact them with my problem (and it seems this will become a bigger problem as more and more of the newer computers containing ssds are going this way with little space in the C: SSD) and I got the message to contact my computer manufacturer. Tried seeing on the HP help and support if there is a solution for this and saw nothing. So here I am with a new computer and I've spent a couple of weeks now trying to set things up and searching for a way to allow more hard drive space. I found this site ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKTNmoq2zXI&feature=fvwrel) on how to move user files from C onto new drive, but it only works for 1 folder (I moved my video folder and then when I tried to move my pictures, it got messed up and I had to do a restore. There must be a simple way to fix this; otherwise this computer is useless. Thanks for any help or suggestions!!

Hi,
That's right, this is the installation process:
C. Install and activate Norton Internet Security
You can install and activate Norton from a CD or a downloaded file:If you do not want to join Norton Community Watch, uncheck the option. By default, this option is checked.
Insert the CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive (if you are installing from a download, double-click the file you downloaded and proceed to step 2).
Place a check in the box next to Norton Security Software, and click Next.
When the installation is complete, find and open the Norton Security Software folder on your desktop.
Double-click on the Install Norton Internet Security.exe icon to begin the installation.
Click OK to begin the installation, or click Install Options to change where Norton installs, and then click Browse to locate the new location. ........
Regards.

• Abort System Error in program SAPLRRS2 and form INITFL_ASSIGN-01 error

Hi All,
When I refresh a query/workbook getting following error message and can not proceed further..
Abort System Error in program SAPLRRS2 and form INITFL_ASSIGN-01
We are using BW 3.5 and BEX reports.
I'd appreciate if you could help me on this

I don't know if you have since been able to resolve this problem.
Anyway, for future reference, I have just had the same error message and was able to resolve it by simply removing and then reinstalling one of the characteristics, together with its variables and filters, in the free characteristics section of the query.
Hope that this is of help to someone.

• Getting error message : the item Itunes.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved so this shortcut will no longer work properly. I get this either using the start menu or the desktop shortcut. I tried going to programs /itunes and repair.

Getting the error message:
the item Itunes.exe that this shortcut referes to has been moved or changed so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
I tried going into the control panel/programs /itunes and selected repair which didn't fix it. Any suggestions on restoring the broken shortcut without removing and re-installing the program?
Running windows 7 home premium SP1
Thank you

I think it is some sort of permissions issue preventing the installer from updating the shortcuts. Is your account an administrator of the machine? If it is and you still have the problem then you may need to explicitly use the "Administrator" account for the install.

• HT201413 I am receiving a message saying the iPod "TRACER's iPod" can not be synched. The required file can not be found. I ran the iTunes program repair and restarted both the computer and the iPod. Any suggestions on what else to try?

I am receiving a message saying the iPod "TRACER's iPod" can not be synched. The required file can not be found. I ran the iTunes program repair and restarted both the computer and the iPod. but still receive the same message. Any suggestions on what else to try?

That can sometimes be caused by a damaged ipod photo cache.
If you remove the current ipod photo cache, does that get you past the error?
For instructions on where to find it, see the following document:

• How do you make programs open and close into their own tab in the dock, like they do in windows?

You know in Windows, how there is a tab for each program in the taskbar?  And, if the program is minimized, when you click the tab, the programs restores.  And when you click the tab again, the program minimizes.
Can this be done on Mac?
Thanks!
Bret

Here's my ungrateful response...
I should have posted screen shots in the first place!
Here is what I'm talking about.  In the first screen shot (in Windows), you can see that there are programs running in the taskbar, but all the windows are minimized.  The mouse is hovering over the "Computer" tab in the tasbar at the bottom of the screen.  I am about to click the left mouse button once to restore the "Computer" window onto the desktop, but I haven't clicked it yet...
In this next screen shot, you can see that I have just clicked the left mouse button once and the "Computer" window has been restored (is now showing on the screen)...
Then, WITHOUT MOVING THE MOUSE TO ANY BUTTON IN THE "COMPUTER" WINDOW, ETC, IE. THE MOUSE IS STILL IN THE SAME PLACE IT WAS WHEN I CLICKED THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON ONCE TO RESTORE THE WINDOW, I click the mouse button again and the window minimizes!...
All I'm asking is if anyone knows of a way to mimic this behaviour in OSX (in the dock) - either within the operating system itself, or with an addon app, etc.
Right now, as you know, in OSX when you click the program in the dock, the program restores, but then you have to move the mouse and click on the yellow button at the top-left of the program window to minimize it again.  This is because once you click the program window icon in the dock to restore the program window, the icon is then removed from the dock - thus disallowing the possibility of clicking it again, without moving the mouse, to minimize the program window.  I'm trying to see if there is a way so you don't have to move the mouse to toggle the window from minimized to restored to minimized again.
Or to be even more clear...
This next screen shot shows the desktop in OSX (mine happens to be Lion 10.7.5) and we can see that the Firefox program window is minimized into the dock into a Firefox program window icon.  I have not yet clicked the mouse button to restore the Firefox program, but I am about to.  The red circle at the bottom left of the screen shows where the mouse is...
Here, in this next screen shot, is the screen once I have clicked the mouse button on the Firefox dock window icon and the Firefox program window has been restored...
As you can see, the Firefox dock window icon that I just clicked has disappeared and, in that place instead, the red circle is now over a different dock window icon.  The Firefox dock window icon is now missing from the dock and is therefore unclickable.  If the Firefox dock window icon was still there, I could just click on it again to minimize the Firefox program window, and subsequently click it again to restore, and so on - like I am able to do in Windows.
I hope this clears things up.
