Program plug-in in Qt?

Hi,
I'm wondering is it possible to create a plug-in with dialog in other tools like Qt instead of Win32 SDK? I have not used the Win32 SDK for several years.

Hi Rob!
It doesn't really work :( Due to the fact that QT is running its own eventloop it often happens that input directed for the qt window is also processed by photoshop itself.
When you're intending to use QT as a modal dialog it may works over disabling the input for the photoshop window(or stopping the photoshop event pump at all), but if you trying to use it as a non-modal dialog i don't really see a simple solutions (leaving some kind of hacks besides).
I solved my problem thru opening the QDialog as a separate application and solved the communication over pipes or os events. Not the cleanest method but it works for me.

I Need To Know All Programs/Plug-ins/Files Bundled With CS2 Design Standard Suite

I am the Unit Software License Manager for my office at a government installation. I am in charge of accounting for all licensed software (both the physical CDs and the licenses/serial #s/Registration #s) being used on the computers in my office. Currently, I have a master list that shows all software used, including the main programs, plug-ins, add-ons, settings, toolkits, servers, drivers, etc., on all our stations. I need to break the list down to show which of these programs, etc., were bundled to the CS2 Design Standard suite specifically. Does anyone have any knowledge of the complete list that was bundled with CS2 Design Standard? Thanks.

What is the best program/plug in for removing unwanted noise?

Hi I work with a lot of speech snippets in my tracks from old radio programs,films,documentaries etc and most of the time they have bits of quiet music in the background that I would like to remove.I have tried using logic's noise gate/de-noiser but find is does not get the desired effect that I want it to get.So I am wondering if there is a special program/plug in that can separate the sample so you can remove the unwanted noise I am pretty sure this can be done as I have heard a professional dance tune use a film vocal sample that I know has background music on that particular bit and somehow removed the background music so that vocal is just on it's own.

Audacity will do the trick. Use the Noise Removal effect from the Effects ->Utility folder to render a track. You'll need about a second of the background noise alone for the plugin to analyze in order to process the entire track.
A lot of people I know use this for just the same purpose you will.

Mail plug in

when opening mail,I receive this message;"mail has been dissabled for the following reason, "unsubmailplugin app osx",contact the makers of these plugins for versions that are compatible with mail 5.1 & messages 5.1
the mail does open , but I continue to get this same message on my mac , but not on macbook pro, ipad or iphone ???
where do I go to for needed plug ins?

I contacted the company that took over the old company. Here is what you do.
Open Finder and Click on "Go" on the top of the screen.
A box will open into which you enter /Library then hit Enter
A list of programs will appear. Scan down it until you find "Mail" Click on Mail and you will see a folder in it called Bundle. Open Bundle to double check that it has the unsubscribe program plug in listed, then close them back down. Highlight "Bundle" and then go to the top of Finder and move it to the trash.
That should take the plug in and its annoying message away.

Unable to Install or Run Program

New Laptop / C650 Series / Win 7
Installed a couple software programs, but decided to un-install one that I did not want on anymore (Sony Recording Software), and since then, I'm unable to run/install any new programs, plug-ins, audio discs, etc. I checked all autoplay settings, and tried to run manually, with no success.
Normally, when a disc is inserted, system prompts would pop-up right away. This no longer happens, even though it should run right away per my settings. When I try to run it manually, nothing happens either.
Any idea how to resolve this? Laptop has only been in use for a few days now.

I created the recovery DVDs, though not familiar with how to perform. That's probably best, because I barely made any changes (iTune is the only other program presently). I'm on a different computer, and don't have the model number presently.

I do remember a box popping up during the un-install process saying that I would need ____ (my client, iclient ? or something like that) to be active in order to re-install that software. I didn't think much of it at the time. I couldn't open the link, but will try to track that down.

I just downloaded the 1.48 version, and it is in-fact a 1.48 release. So, that would appear to be the most current version. Perhaps the normal / direct sites just haven't been updated yet.

The 1.47 version of the httpmail plug-in was released in November of 2005. But, the 1.48 version was apparently released in March of 2006.
It is not a "universal binary". It is a PowerPC only program / plug-in.
This is not an issue if you are using a PowerPC Mac. You can just install it and use it.
As for Intel Macs, it will install, but not run in a Intel Native program.
If you want to use a PowerPC plug-in with Mail on an Intel Mac, then you have to set Mail to run in PowerPC mode through Rosetta.
That will enable the plug-in to work. But, that means running mail through Rosetta which may be slower.
Just to be safe, you might actually want to set mail to run in Rosetta before you install the plug-in. That would probably be the safest route.

HT3805 My Aperture 3 just crashed, i.e., it would not open and showed an error message -1712. I sent the current version to trash and reinstalled from my A3 disk, but after installing again it still says "Aperture can not open -1712."

My Aperture 3 just crashed...by that I mean it would not open and showed the message: "Aperture 3 cannot open. -1712." I have the latest A3 version and had been using it continually for 3 years. This was the first crash. And it will not open as often as I tried.
I am using a 13" Macbook Pro with OSX 10.8.5.
I tried sending the A3 application to trash, and reinstalling from my A3 disk. Install message said "installation successful." But A3 would still not open and gave same message with -1712.
Any suggestions what I should do or try?

Perhaps your Aperture library was damaged, when Aperture crashed. What where you doing, right before the crash happened?
- If you installed new software - programs, plug-ins, preferences panels, check, if they are compatible.
- If you imported new images, you may have imported corrupted files, that crash Aperture.
Can Aperture launch correctly, when you try to open a new Aperture library?
Hold down the options-key, when you launch Aperture and select to create a new library. Import a few images. Does that work?
If Aperture will launch on a new Library, try to repair your current library. Hold down the key-combination option-command ⌥⌘ firmly while double-clicking the Aperture library to open in First Aid Mode. Hold the keys down, until the panel appears, and then try the First Aid Options in turn.
I have the latest A3 version
Is it Aperture 3.4.5? The latest Aperture 3.5.1 will not work with Mt. Lion.

My Mac won't play some flash videos

I have the latest versions of Flash, Shockwave and OSX, yet some videos just will not play on my MacBook Pro. The player will load -- but the media will not. Here is an example of a video that will not play.

The player will load and display "Loading Content" indefinitely. Most flash sites work fine, but the number of sites that do not work seem to be increasing.
Could this be a conflict with some other program/plug-in that I have installed? It does the same thing in Safari and Firefox, and I even just downloaded Safari 4 and got the same result. Without exception, all the sites I have a problem with work just fine an other MacBook Pro's that are here in the office. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash and browsers, cleared cache, etc. yet the same thing always results.

It's working for me, in Safari 3.2 and 4.0, and Firefox - but at about 2 FPS.
It is possible that you need to reinstall the latest Flash Player to clear some version number issues.

Ipod Touch is not recognized on my laptop

I just got a new Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 a couple of weeks ago. When I plugged my Ipod Touch 2g for the first time into one of the usb ports all that is recognized is a camera. Itunes doesn't notice and neither does any other program that I was going to use for it. I've tried everything: restarting the laptop, reinstalling iTunes and its related programs, plugging the cord into another usb port, updating any drivers, temporarily disabling my Internet security to see if it blocking the device, etc. It's not my ipod nor my usb cord because they both work perfectly fine on my mom's PC and laptop. My iTunes is fully up-to-date and so is my Windows and security software. I've spent hours trying nearly every possible process answer to any related problems I found online. I read and performed every relevant article in Apple's support section, but still nothing is accomplished. I really don't understand what the problem is. It anyone has a possible solution it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My only suggestion is doe the laptop have any camera/scanner software that maybe interfering with the iPod showing in iTunes?

ITunes has corrupted my iPod Classic's data

I recently upgraded to a new computer, now running Windows 7 from XP and also with that installed the latest version of iTunes. I had never had too much trouble prior syncing and managing my music until recently when all of a sudden syncing even small amounts of data my iTunes and then essentially my whole computer would freeze(and/or encounter an error message where it would claim an issue with the last file it was trying to sync and i think it was an error 56 or something?) or become unresponsive. I even had it where I could still open and use other programs but I could no longer use Ctrl+Alt+Del even to access the task manager to force iTunes to close. Also anything that had made it through the first part of the sync was gone.
It seemed like I would no longer be able to sync my iPod when it suddenly started working again and for the last week it has been fine until today where my main issue comes in...
Today when trying to add a few CDs to my iPod it didn't freeze but ran into the same 56? error after freezing partway through syncing. However it didn't freeze so I restarted the program, plugged my ipod back in(this time the first few songs had stayed) and tried again...
Except this time it froze, had to be shut down. I shut down and restarted my whole computer and then when I plugged my iPod and it tried verifying in I was told that (not only had I lost 2 GB of data) all of my music (about 130-140 GB) was listed under "Other" data in yellow instead of blue, and no longer appeared in the Music tab. I ejected and plugged it back in through iTunes, and still it was under other with another 24 GB missing in general this time.
I have no idea what happened here and I have never had issues like this before. If this means I have to restore I will not only be losing certain things that were on my iPod from an old old computer that isn't around anymore but also due to other issues when transfering my iTunes library to my external hard drive I lost quite a few cds I'd have to rip again because that also is a mess.
That and I am not sure if restoring will fix where it is freexing during sync to begin with.
So I am sure there is no way to magically fix this... Especially because it seems there are a lot of similar issues though not the same with the newest iTunes(or historically many iTunes updates it seems) and iDevices, especially due to I suppose what are compatibility issues between iTunes and apparently life form what eve some Macs are saying... but I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on and if there was anything I could do short of "delete everything because our software ate your (some of it irreplacable) data, sorry" ?

Are you using the Part of Gapless Album or crossfading, I came across an earlier iTunes post, that suggest this option was causing the iTunes to freeze, especially with huge library.

Smart objects not opening in CS4

A few months ago I upgraded to the entire CS4 Premium design package and everything was working just fine. However, recently I've been having some issues with Illustrator's smart objects, .ai, & .eps files. Every time I choose to edit a smart object within a document in any of the CS4 programs (i.e. Photoshop, InDesign, Dreaweaver, etc..), it keeps loading up Illustrator CS3 instead of using Illustrator CS4 (which is already open). I'm also having the same issue when I doble click on an .ai or .eps file. Instead of it opening the files with the CS4 version, it keeps wanting to open them in the CS3 version - even the files that were originally created in the CS4 version.
I haven't added any new programs, plug-ins or updates since I last upgraded to the CS4 edition, so i really don't know what coul be causing this to happen. Especially since I never had this issue before. If anyone has any ideas on how I can correct this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've tried setting up the default file to open with a specific program, but I keep getting a message stating that it's not a valid program. Yet CS4 opens & works with no problems. At this point, I'm kind of stumped ?!?

PDF conversion with PDF2ID; Hypertext not working when exported back to pdf.

I have done a PDF conversion with PDF2ID, however Hypertext is not working when I exported it back to pdf. I am using the PDF2ID plug-in program to redo all the product booklets for our company as the hypertext did not work when downloaded to any smart phone. All that appeared were blank placeholders in each booklet index page.
According to the PDF2ID people the program plug-in recovers all URLs static and dynamic and bookmarks and local links and suggested I check with Adobe ID5 for help, but Adobe says my $1,000 ID5 is no longer supported and that I should go to the forums.....so here I am.
This is the first time I've even opened my ID5, so I'm a bit lost. Now I need to improve the quality of the PDFs, as we also need to convert all images to TIFF-CMYK in order to have the booklets printed & bound professionally. they tell me ID can do that.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ugh...in some companies, that is training.
Don't take this the wrong way David, but of course ID can't do anything. PDF2ID conversions can be sketchy in the hands of the experienced. The same can be said of properly preparing matials for print. As Bob has already alluded, you're in an unfair position there. It's not uncommon for "management" types to just throw some sophisticated tools at a need and expect someone to make it work. In order to do what's being asked of you, you'll have to learn a fair bit about InDesign and production. It's too soon to ask about the output when you haven't learned to manage the input.

Using Places in iPhoto with aperture photos

If we have a picture in aperture with the City and Country Name attribute filleds, this picture in iphoto will not have the info. So, iPhoto no uses the EXIF City and Country Name fields.

I am not familiar with Aperture so I don't know what it can do or if any helper programs/plug ins will do with Aperture.
However there are other Geotagging programs out there. One that is very easy to use in conjunction with Google Earth is Graphics Connverter. With GC, you can open Google Earth, find the location of you want to tag your photo with, then switch over to GC and use the menu item to geotag the selected photos (you can do many photos at once) with the currently displayed Google Earth location. In addition there is a menu command to simply type in coordinates if you do not want to use Google Earth. GC can also tag using GPS data logger files.
GC will write the coordinates to the EXIF data and I have done it myself on both normal JPGs as well as Olympus RAW format. I know when I geotag with GC and then add the photos to iPhoto, iPhoto sees the tags just fine and show their locations. I assume Aperture would do the same.
iPhoto can tag photos as well, but it only writes the data to the database and doesn't actually add the info to the EXIF of the photos themselves until you export the photos out of iPhoto. Do to do it with iPhoto is a multi step process that would require adding them to iPhoto, tagging them, then exporting them back out of iPhoto. I think CG would be an easier solution.

How to find broken links or cross-references in a PDF file?

Recently I have been trying to figure out if there is a way to find out any broken link(s) in a PDF file. I'm aware that in FrameMaker we can search for Unresolved Cross-references and fix them, but is there such feature in Acrobat?
Any suggestions on this would be highly appreciated.

There's nothing in Acrobat itself, but there are 3rd-party program plug-ins that do the job. I use 'Autobookmark' (http://www.evermap.com/autobookmark.asp) which does a very good job of finding and marking broken links and allows keyboard-entry editing without having to re-browse the link if you already know the correct path. It also facilitates a lot of other useful functions that Acrobat makes rather tedious (like changing the zoom setting on all links or bookmarks).

Internal DVD -R/RW DL is no longer recognized

If it is internal, you might try finding the older driver software, or at least something that allows your comp to recognize it. GO to the LaCie site and download the DVD updater program, plug in your drive (if external), make sure the connections are all secure, and then run the updater; it will read the burner and your system and find the compatible firmware. If the updater can't sense a drive or it says there's no update, chances are you have a hardware problem(i.e. something with the drive itself, the connection, or the port the drive is connected to). If this is the case, you may have to get a new drive, cable, or simply have your comp checked out by a service proffessional and the port fixed or replaced. Hope this helps.
