Program suggestions for keeping track of sales?

I do lots of online sales and am looking for a great program to keep track of everything for tax reasons and just to be more organized.
I would like the ability to input my cost on the product, and also put how much I sold it for and shipping prices, etc.
Also, the ability to put in receipts and other costs would be great too.
Any suggestions out there? I looked at QuickBooks, but it seems like that might not be for what I am trying to do.
-Thanks, Kyle

I understand excel is very basic
Very far from it. It is a highly sophisticated spreadsheet application, but it does require a high degree of familiarisation to get the most out of it.
FileMaker is a lot more intuitive (having originally been invented by Claris, an Apple subsidiary).
But whatever application you decide to go for, I would get a manual to go with it.

  • One suggestion to keep track of answered posts

    Hi
    Below the control panel we have...reward points and your question.
    I request you to have a small link which shows the answers posted..
    Assume if i answer some question and the questioner replied back with some detailed scenario......i have to go to the forums and check all the way to keep track of my answer...whether it solved the problem...or still pending.....
    We cannot watch all the threads and no use of getting mails for every new change.......it could be useful in some cases.....
    What i suggest is....below your questions( in the control panel) .......your posts/answers for open questions
    Hope this makes sdn better
    Regards
    N Ganesh

    Well the way I see this, there would be a  problem be in case you have replied to lots of questions.
    For instance, I make it a point to read every thread on the XI forum and also reply to most of them and there are many people like me on SDN. And so, if SDN was to provide us with links to the questions we have answered in the Control Panel ( just like the My Questions link) , it would mean a real lot number of links!
    Doesn't make much sense to me , and so I guess watching the thread using Mails and occasionally logging to SDN and checking the status of your answer is a better option!
    Just my 2 cents.

  • LR workflow for keeping track of copyright submissions?

    Instead of reinventing the wheel, I thought I'd ask here first.
    I have around 8,000 images in a smart collection of photos taken between Jan 1, 2010 and March 31, 2010. I've added my copyright info into the metadata and am in the process of exporting a 700px image of each image to a 1st_qtr2010_copyright folder on my hard drive before submitting them.
    I am considering adding these phrases to the Keywords into the original raw images: "copyrighted" and "submitted April 16, 2010". In the future, I should be able to search for all "copyrighted" images or a refinded search for any "submitted..." group. And when the certificate is returned for the images, I'd add one more keyword like "© completed July 20, 2010" and/or the copyright document number.
    I guess the target is to figure out how to keep track of the images already submitted, the ones officially copyrighted, and any images still needing the copyright submissions.(images that do not contain "copyrighted")
    If anyone here has a tried and tested method or workflow using Lightroom, I'd love to hear them before I go any further.
    Thanks in advance,
    M. Jackson

    Sean and Jao,
    I found the tick box now.
    I create a Keyword Set called something like "Private Keywords" and inclued the keyword "copyrighted" (with the boxes unchecked). I select one or more images, then click the copyrighted keyword in the list? I think I got it. I then add additional Private Keywords to my set and use them as needed. Right?
    Going back to my original question, I am looking for help with a workflow suggestion to help keep track of submissions to the copyright office. I see the option in LR to assign either Unknown, Copyrighted, or Public Domain in the Metadata. So, I import them into LR as unknown until I prepare the jpgs for uploading, at which point, I change all of the original RAW images to Copyrighted. At the point of uploading and payment, the images are copyrighted for most purposes, but there is still the final step of getting the certificate from the copyright office a few months later. I'd like to find all the ones submitted in that group and assign a new Private Keyword that associates the registration number and maybe date with the photos in that group.
    Unless I am missing more features in LR, assigning appropriate keywords would be necessary to keep track of the whole process. Keeping some of them private makes a lot of sense. If I were to run a copyright batch every few weeks, it would be easy to visualize eight or nine "in progress" copyright submission groups waiting for the final certificates.
    Any additional advice would be appreciated.

  • Suggestions for Document Tracking System

    I have just installed sharepoint server 2013 and I wish to build a document tracking system that can do the following:
    1.  Keep track of memos and approvals emanating from the office of the CEO
    2.  It begins with a memo from a staff member to his Unit Head
    3.  The Unit Head approves and sends it to the CEO
    4.  The CEO approves and sends it Human Resources or Accounts.
    5.  From HR/Accounts it goes back to the Head of Unit
    6.  All approved memos or documents will be stored in a library for perusal by those with permissions to do so
    Is there a template for doing all these in sharepoint 2013? I would deeply appreciate some suggestions on how to proceed with this assignment.
    Many thanks!

    You should be able to do this with the approval workflow in SharePoint. Refer to the following post for more information

  • Any table keep track of Sales order and relevant IDOC

    hi all,
    Do we have any table to keep track Sales order and its relevant IDOC in the system?
    A list of sales order# given by user, from the list, we would like to find a faster way to get the corresponding IDOC.
    thanks.

    Hi Reetha,
    EDIDS table would have the IDOC Number & sales order number. Parameter 2 is the field in EDIDS which would have the sales order number.
    I understand that this table would have many records but i dont think any other table would have the above combination. If you get any other table, then pls. do update @ it on this thread.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Prashant

  • Directory structure suggestions, for keeping tidy classpath

    Suggestions for setting up my directory (learning area, devel area etc.)
    ok, so this classpath thing seems to have the potential to make a real messcan anyone suggest how I might alter my directory to limit the numberof additions I have to make to my classpath variable?
    presently I have a directory off of my root for the various books I use:
    C:\jJavaJunkYard < txtbook
    C:\jTextBookDL < txtbook
    C:\jJavaCoreFundamentals < txtbook
    C:\jTheJavaTutorial < txtbook
    C:\jThinkingInJava < txtbook
    C:\jJavaHowTo < txtbook
    C:\jDevl << java development area
    C:\jdk14 << java exe & doc
    C:\jdkLanguageSpecDoc << java lang specifications
    and of course under each txtbook, I have
    ch1, ch2,ch3 etc.
    how can I set up my directory so that my classpath does not get too messy?

    that idea kinda scares me... i have probably thousands
    of files...
    but if no one else bothers to answer...
    you'll get the dukes...
    thank you for bothering to answerThousands of files? Are these separate classes which you have created? If so you should consider organizing these files by package. (I hope I am understanding your question as you meant it).
    Use the package statement, eg.
    package com.accuchekinc.pc5250;to tell the compile where to put the class.
    Use the import statement, eg
    import com.accuchekinc.pc5250;to retrieve the class by another class which uses it.
    Then you only have to make sure that "com" is in one of the folders in the class path statement.
    I wholeheartedly agree with the previous suggestion that you use the -classpath (or -cp) parameter of javac.exe and java.exe to establish unique sets of class paths per project.
    Good luck. I've been watching your topic for ideas a well.

  • Any suggestions for keeping the magic trackpad from sliding around?

    When I push up with two fingers, the 'pad moves.  I usually just put an iPod touch in back of it (iPod has a rubber case, prevents sliding).  But a more practile solutions would be best (don't always have iPod around)
    I wish the little rubber pieces on the bottom of the trackpad were more grippy...

    I always thought those pads were "grippy".  What kind of surface do you have it on?
    Here's one suggestion though.  Get a thin piece of vinyl sheet a little larger than the trackpad.  That stuff sticks to most any smooth surface and will definitely grip the trackpad.  I know this because I use this stuff.  But almost anything equivalent will do.
    Note, I use not to keep the trackpad from slipping, but to keep it from scratching my acrylic desktop (also bought from the same place as the vinyl).

  • I collect Books.  Is there good App for keeping track of them?

    I had a decent palm application, which kept track of all the books i own & what books I want.
    I have not seen anything specifically for books in the app store and the data base apps don't look quite right.
    Any ideas?

    What was the app you used on the Palm?
    Is it a database app or a reader?

  • Suggestions for keeping app from shutting down in background?

    I'm almost done a messaging app for android that's using p2p cirrus to transfer messages. It works great and i'm really happy being able to use this service on an air for android application. If the phone is asleep, using another application, or anything else  users can receive messages just fine and thats awesome...
    but, it seems like after an hour or two android just sort of kills the app and it will no longer receive any messages, and when i go to open it back up I get the splash image that signifies its booting up for the first time.
    What would be the best method to allow my app to continue to listen for netStatus events and be capable to receiving messages even after several hours of being in the background?
    It would be a shame if it's not possible, because that's the only thing holding this app back from being legitimate competition to any native android messenger apps.

    It's fine, all downloaded applications will show that 'warning'. Drag the application to your Applications Folder. The coffee cup icon will show up in your menu bar: click it and the icon goes dark, which means screen saving is off, click it again and it goes clear which means screen saving is on.
    It's that simple!

  • Python tool for keeping track of strings

    I wrote this just now. It associates keys to strings; basically a centralized means of storing values.
    #!/usr/bin/env python
    from cPickle import load, dump
    from sys import argv
    from os.path import expanduser
    strings_file = expanduser('~/lib/cfg-strings')
    try:
    with open(strings_file) as f:
    strings = load(f)
    except:
    strings = {}
    if len(argv) < 2:
    print('''usage:
    {0} dump
    {0} get <key>
    {0} del <key>
    {0} set <key> <val>'''.format(argv[0]))
    elif len(argv) == 2:
    if argv[1] == 'dump':
    for k in strings.keys(): print(k + ': ' + strings[k])
    elif len(argv) == 3:
    if argv[1] == 'get':
    if argv[2] in strings.keys():
    print(strings[argv[2]])
    elif argv[1] == 'del':
    if argv[2] in strings.keys():
    del(strings[argv[2]])
    elif len(argv) == 4:
    if argv[1] == 'set':
    strings[argv[2]] = argv[3]
    with open(strings_file, 'w') as f:
    dump(strings, f)
    Replace '~/lib/cfg-strings' with your preferred destination for the pickle file.
    As an example, I have this at the end of my .xinitrc:
    exec $(cfg get wm)
    so all I have to do is type "cfg set wm ..." to change my window manager. Note that on my system, the script is named 'cfg', so you'll want to change that depending on what you call it.
    To be honest, though, I think everyone has written something like this at least once.

    Nice idea Peasantoid! I have wanted something similar for myself for a while now however wasn't exactly sure how best to do this. Here's my version. It is based on yours though as I prefer plain text for the settings file so I used JSON.
    #!/usr/bin/python
    import json
    import os.path
    import sys
    SETTINGS_FILE = os.path.expanduser('~/configs/settings.json')
    def dump(s):
    print json.dumps(s, sort_keys = True, indent=2)
    def get(s, key):
    if s.has_key(key):
    print s[key]
    def set(s, key, val):
    s[key] = val
    save(s)
    def delete(s, key):
    if s.has_key(key):
    del s[key]
    save(s)
    def save(s):
    json.dump(s, open(SETTINGS_FILE, 'w'))
    def usage():
    str = [
    "usage: %s dump (default)",
    " %s get <key>",
    " %s set <key> <val>",
    " %s delete <key>"
    for x in str:
    print x % sys.argv[0]
    def main():
    try:
    settings = json.load(open(SETTINGS_FILE))
    except:
    settings = {}
    a = sys.argv
    n = len(a)
    if n == 1 or (n == 2 and a[1] == 'dump'):
    dump(settings)
    elif n == 3 and a[1] == 'get':
    get(settings, a[2])
    elif n == 3 and a[1] == 'delete':
    delete(settings, a[2])
    elif n == 4 and a[1] == 'set':
    set(settings, a[2], a[3])
    else:
    usage()
    if __name__ == "__main__":
    main()

  • How to create a database for keeping track or similar topics

    I have been using Macs for years. Only to do what I needed. Not a geek. In Appleworks years ago I could create a data base where I could organize categories i.e. I am a yoga teacher and could list the various poses that were good for headaches. Some of these were also good for something else. With the data base I could parse through for what I was looking for. I want to do that again and cannot figure out how to do it.
    Help appreciated.

    You could probably use something like [Bento|http://www.filemaker.com/products/bento/features.html] for the job, or even do something basic with a Spreadsheet in Numbers or Excel.

  • Track of sales of inventory materials

    Hi Gurus,
    My client does not keep track of sales of inventory materials on a daily basis. At the end of each quarter, they do a physical count of what's left in the stock, and based on what they had at the beginning of the quarter and additions along the way, they calculate what they sold over the quarter. At that point, they simply go and update a GL accounts.
    Que: If my client wants to continue doing this, what T.Code (or steps) should they use to update the quantity and value of the inventory at the end of the quarter?
    Thanks,
    Sha

    Hi,
    Did you find a answer for this? We are facing with the same problem.
    Thanks a bunch,

  • Keeping track of the time i work on a project

    Is there a program that will keep track of the time i work on a project?

    Three really good ones.
    A clock, a piece of paper and a pencil.
    Or a clock and EXCEL.
    OR...you can get one of those time clocks that they have on those REALLY strict jobs, like at McDonalds. The stuff you see the Flintstones using...minus the dinosaur.
    Sorry...I don't know of anything...just lightening the mood.

  • Need to Keep Track of Remote Dynamic IP Address for VNC Suggestions?

    Hi,
    So I need a method to keep track of my airport extremes IP address since I have a desktop not in reach I need to access daily and I'm worried that it might change of course, I know windows has IP Mailer that will send out new IP Addresses but I don't know of anything for mac. I can't get to the computer so I need a solution that doesn't require restarting the router : /. If anyone has a suggestion I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

    Try http://www.no-ip.com/
    They have a Mac client which sits inside your private network and updates the no-ip server database.
