Program switches insertion point out of field!

I'm entering IPTC metadata (City, State, Country), and the insertion point is definitely being switched out of the different fields by the program. It's especially evident when I'm typing in a field, and hit tab to go to the next field; if I pause (and thus do not type), the program will take the insertion point out of the field. But it is also true that I'll click in a field, and then, (if I don't type) suddenly, the field will go "black," and the field is no longer selected.
Note: I have this problem ONLY if I have multiple images selected.

I see this as well, and agree that it is a tremendous pain. It appears that Lightroom is stealing the focus away from the text field when Lightroom needs to process the data you are entering. I can't tell you how many times I have had Lightroom go bonkers because the focus was stolen and it interpreted my keystrokes as shortcuts!

I completed the install yesterday, but still get the same error.
First, I verified that I had already installed the Prerequisite Single Fixes 7195518. 7012092, 7284592 per SP10 install instructions.
Second, I installed the Prerequisite Single Fix 10124173 before installing Service Pack 10.
The following are the last few bug installations from Service Pack 10 and these are from my <SPLBASE>\etc\installed_fixes.txt file (I included these to show that SP10 installed OK);

I am headed to MetaLink now for further research on the "Did not find EXT_REFERENCE_ID pointed to by field C1_EXT_REFERENCE_ID" message to see what else I might need to install. I'll update this thread if/when I figure out the problem.
Chesplay if you have another idea, or believe that there is a seperate DB SP1 on MetaLink, please advise. I was not able to find a seperate DB SP1 on MetaLink today. Thanks!

For me even the issue was solved when i apply the db portion of patch 7009370. But when i log in to the application i could see ablank pages, the menus were not loading up and i was getting error:

To overcome the above issue i applied the db portion of the patch 8608149 by following below steps:

1. Check ur code in debug to see if your internal table contains value in mandatory fields
2. Try executing BDC program online to figure out the problem....
3. Check ur code to see whether u r assigning values to this fields...

Adds a page when I insert a new/replacement field

Actually, this form has been working, now it doesn't. I changed it from static to dynamic, but I don't know if that is the issue. I have full adobe, but the users of the form will have reader only. In reader, there are a lot of problems with the form that work well in live cycle preview and in full adobe. what is the glitch?
1. Had to change a required field to optional because when one went to email it (within reader), it did not recognize that the field was populated. It kept giving a warning that the field was required to be sent. It highlighted the date field.
2. So I went back to live cycle to change the field to optional. Saved form. Back to reader and it still identified it as a required field.
3. So I went back to live cycle, thinking that I might just delete the field and insert a new date/time field. Guess what, everytime I delete or insert a field, a whole blank page inserts itself before the form. This causes the form to go to 2 pages with the first page blank.
I don't understand why the program automatically inserts a page especially when there is enough space to insert two more fields, much less delete one and replace it with the same size field.
Can anyone explain why the form inserts a page just for replacing the field?
In turn, why does the field keep saying it is required when i have already change the field to optional? if I can figure that one out, I would not need to replace the field.
the second problem that has just started is that the numerical field for HRN number (7 squares) keeps showing up like an odometer, with a comma. This number is not a counting number but an identification number and requires no comma. I changed it to a text field, but it still will automatically put a comma in even though I have formatted it as just 99999999. Why does it put the comma in as the tab to next field occurs.

XCode 4 : No editing insertion point history??? What the...

After countless hours of searching, I wasn't able to find a way to move forward and backward in my editing places in my code. It is as if the Xcode4 does not hold any insertion point history.
The current Forward/Backward scheme of XCode4 ( by using "Control" + "Command" + "Arrow", or three finger touchpad swipe, or the two little arrows on the left top corner of the code) is to move between file history.
It completely destroys my productivity, to the point I am seriously considering to switch back to Xcode3. If anyone knows how to do editing point history navigation in Xcode4 the way we did it in Xcode 3 I would be more than happy to listen to his suggestions.

I tried opening two tabs with the same file. In order this solution to work, every time you need to do an editing to click on the tab of the file on the background, activate it, and do the change there. On the next change you need to click the tab of the previous file again, and do it there. It is not very convenient as on every change you will need to click on the other tab. And also in case of scrolling you need to scroll the other tab too so that they point at the same place…
It's so confusing… In Xcode3 I had implement an app that consisted of 45 classes and the biggest one was 15000 lines of code and the navigation in the lines of the same class was like a breeze using the back button. In my current new app I hardly have 2000 lines of code in my main class and I straggle to do any progress at all. Splitting the code into different classes may sound as the way to go, but there are cases that this is not effective and things need to be held at the same class..
Anyway, thanks so much everyone for the responses and suggestions.. I really appreciate the time you spent for them… I hope in the end something useful to come out of this..

Error by inserting data into a field of datatype LONG

Hi,
When inserting data into a field of datatype long in oracle8 database via SQL Plus or SQL worksheet there occurs the following error message: "field in data file exceeds the maximum length".
If I access to the database from a selve written program via odbc there is no problem when inserting the data by the same sql statement.
So what can I do?

[AS] How to make cross reference at insertion point

Hi,
I have a book ("indb") including several documents with several "anchors"
(german translation: "Textanker") where cross references from different documents are linked to.
What I already got is to reference all anchors and collect them in a list.
Now I would like to make a new cross reference at the insertion point
in a text frame of the active document - can't get it to run :-(
Is anybody out there who can post a AS-sample doing this?

Here is the reference to an already existing anchor:

The code I tried to make a new cross reference looks like this - but of course doesn't work:

Why are my filled-out Form Fields partially printing?

Using Acrobat Pro 9, I converted a MS Word medical questionaire into a fillable form. I've tested and printed it on Windows and Mac without any issues in the past. However, recently there's been an issue where Adobe Reader allows all of the fields to be filled, but when printed, only the upper 1/3 of the page actually prints the answers in the fields -and the rest needs to be filled in by hand. Others have had issues with having all of the fields print except for the checkboxes.
It still prints perfectly for me, so I'm having a hard time troubleshooting. I wasn't sure if this could be an issue with recent updates, or whether it's a problem with Acrobat Pro or Reader.
I last modified the file on 11/2/09, if that helps. Link to the file.

I was testing my local file (all fields were visible/printable), which I thought was the same one on the server. Must've gotten mixed up.

Inserting text into a field at the current cursor position

Does anyone know how to insert text into a field at the current cursor position? I would like it to work similar to the Syntax Palette in Forms. I cannot figure out how to retrieve the current cursor position in order to manipulate the text.

Hi,
If the button and the textfield are on in the same subform then this code should work in the click event of the button
(This is JavaScript code so make sure the code is set to JavaScript and Client on the drop downs in the script window)
(assuming the name of the textfield is TextField1)
TextField1.rawValue = "some value";
If they are in different subforms then you have 2 options
Please note in both these options it is easier if the subforms have names ( I am assuming this to keep samples simple)
option 1 -
use the parent object to move up the tree till you are at the same level as that of the subform that contains the textfield
e.g.
(Click Event of the button)
this.parent.subformname.TextField1.rawValue = "some value";
option 2 -
Use the resolve node to make your way down from the top level of the form
xfa.resolveNode ("form1.subformname.TextField1").rawValue = "some value";

[JS][CS3] Insertion Point

HI All
I need to get a hold of an insertion point between 2 characters and add some negative kerning to the characters either side.
I have tried:
myInsertion = myPara.characters[-3].insertionPoints;
and many variations of that line, but with no joy.
Can someone please help me out here?

This will set the kerning on each side of that character to a specific value:
myPara.characters[-3].insertionPoints.everyItem().kerningValue = -25;
If you want to use different values, then:
myPara.characters[-3].insertionPoints[0].kerningValue = leftKern;
myPara.characters[-3].insertionPoints[1].kerningValue = rightKern;
where leftKern and rightKern hold the values you want.

How do I let Apple know they need to include an option for controlling the insertion point cursor in system preferences?

As described above.
I have spent far too much time investigating this issue! All I would like to do is have the insertion point cursor (the 'I' shaped text thing) not dissapear when navigating text in a word document with the arrow keys.
Some forums say it's an apllication issue, i.e. microsoft, others say you used to be able to do it in older versions of mac os'.
This isn't a problem for Mac programmes. Obviously it is an issue when Microsoft programmes cross over to Mac. If the computer was a PC then I could customise the blinking rate, turn it on or off etc under the control panel options. With a Mac running MS Office I have not got this option.
So how do I go about telling Apple of my displeasure? So hopefully for future editions of OS or Office for Mac this very minor but completely infuriating problem gets ironed out?

Just checking in to inform you that today, after putting up with the issue for over a year, it has sorted itself out, MIRACLE! I don't know how but I've got a fully trackable insertion point when I navigate with my arrow keys!!
Do you think it's the big-wigs (because I complained to both Mac n MS) tweaking my computer behind the secenes? and if so which one would've done it? My money's on the geniusii.
